The Travelmate business line of computers that are based off of the Timeline series have discrete ATI Mobility Radeonô HD 4330 graphics cards. I think there are even some models in the European market that have the ATI graphics card.
Do you think it would be possible to install a graphics card like the HD 4330 into a 3810T (13.3" Timeline) or a 4810T (14.1" Timeline) notebook?
Is it even possible to do this with any notebook?
I'm leaning towards a 4810T as my first choices (the Asus P30A and Acer Travelmate 8371) have not been invited to the Canadian market. The only thing that holds me back is the integrated graphics card. Should I hold my breath and wait for a Timeline notebook with a discrete graphics card?
Why would Acer be reluctant to release a Timeline esque notebook in North America with a discrete graphics card? The ATI card doesn't suck up that much power.

advan20092 is AWESOME!
Just to explain how awesome this modded BIOS is: It enables a new INTEL-ONLY graphics setting in the BIOS for the TG models. This disables the ATI chip entirely, basically making the Switchable Graphics TG models act like the T models, which "fixes" the bug where both graphics chips are active after a Resume from Standby.
This gives 3810TG owners the promised battery life of 8+ hours. One caveat - it disables the HDMI port. For HDMI you have to use Switchable or ATI-ONLY modes.
I have an InspironR Special Edition 7520 and my AMD 7760 2GB will not activate or do any graphics processing. It is stuck on the Intel Graphics. I am running windows 8.
-My laptop is set on high performance and is plugged in.
-I ran NovaBench and it used the intel graphics card
-FurMark detected Intelgraphics as my main graphics card
-I ran a small game called "Slender: The Arrival" on the lowest settings it could barely handle it
-During the game and the graphics run I had Catalyst Control Center Up and it showed 0% usage of the graphics card, indicating it failed to switch
- All the drivers are up to date, per the windows solution and from downloading them from the AMD website.
I would like a solution to either, have the switch start working, or to change a setting so only the graphics card is constantly used. If this does not work I fear I'll have to return the laptop for faulty hardware.
Is there anyway to stay on the Intel Gpu on mains power , every-time i re-boot the notebook it is on the Intel for the first 30 seconds or so and then it automatically switches to the ATI 4330 and i have to manually switch to the Intel Gpu.
I will be using the Intel 95% of the time, I only need the Ati 4330 to play Battlefield 2.
I just bought an Acer-Notebook with the Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator x3100.
I did not buy the notebook for playing games, but sometimes I just want to play. First it is all fine with World of Warcraft. Low FPS at all, but everything normal.
But when I am trying to run Warcraft with the notebook I get bluescreens. I know this have been discussed several times yet, but I can't get it running with the given hints.
First I did: -opengl on shortcut (Bluescreen)
-swtnl on shortcut (Bluescreen)
Then I tried several drivers to run. The latest and some older drivers from the official Intel page.
Another hint is to install drivers of the version 14.33 or older. But I can't find anything like this. The links posted in some posts i found here didnt work and in the archieves of the Intel page are just newer drivers.
I installed Windows 7 professional (x64) successfully.
I installed all the drivers downloaded form the support section also successfully.   The problem is that on approximately every 5~10 minutes I get the following message:
"display driver intel hd graphics drivers for windows 8(r) stopped responding and has recovered".   This message by itself is not annoying. The problem is that during skype video call after getting this message I don't see anymore nor my own video nor the video of the called.
Not only this, restarting the call does not fix the problem.
The only solution is to restart skype but this also does not work everytime.   I had similar issue with youtube videos but I fixed the problem by setting NVIDIA as preferred graphics processor for the browser application, however I don;t have such option for skype.
In my dell latitude d500,i am having intel 82852 graphics card and when i see report tab says me Maximum graphics memory is 64mb but memory in use only 5 or 7mb.Can someone help me to solve this problem because i can't play Counter-Strike on steam which is a game that released in 2000.
I believe that graphics memory in use is the problem that i can't play this game without having 60fps(i am having 15-30).
I'm planning on making the switch to a Mac but I don't need a new notebook till Q3 09/Q1 2010. I know the next major hardware refresh is coming soon and I want a Macbook to last through uni but I don't know Apples sales strategies.
My main concern is the integrated graphics that the MB may come with when it is refreshed. What I wanted to ask is if anyone knows the likelihood that Apple will drop NVIDIA and go back to Intel.
Because if that was to be the case, I might as well buy one now (or once SL is released) because i'd rather have a Centrino 2 based MB w/ NVIDIAs iGPU then go back to Intel (harsh, i know... but it's the truth). Even with all the benefits the Calpella chipset/Westmere CPU would bring i.e. USB 3.0, SATA-III, Bluetooth 3.0, native SSD support, removal of FSB, integrated memory controller, DDR3-1600, improved wireless tech (w/ finalized 802.11n spec), lower power consumption, 32nm Nehalem.
Man I wish Apple would stick with NVIDIA for their next platform. NVIDIA has greater compatibility than anyone else and I know for a fact that the integrated graphics that will come with Arrandale are just a higher clocked 4500MHD so it will still be a lot weaker then even todays Macbook offering (9400m) which is like taking two steps back. Would be frickin AWESOME if we could get Calpella with a variant of Arrandale without its integrated graphics core. Instead, couple it with a 40/32nm shrink of the current 9400m based on the G300 architecture.............
I am a newbie to graphics. When I bought my laptop I was told that it has inbuilt intel hd graphics 4000. So when I checked the device manager there was no such driver or device. Is this because it is inbuilt in the processor or have I missed installing any driver.
I recently purchased a Lenovo ... so I was trying to get some games running on my big screen with my lenovo y50 laptop which I should have set to always use the 860m dedicated card. But when I'm running a second display it defaults to using the Intel 4600 chip, obviously not great for running games. I've tried looking every where in the Nvidia control panel and Intels control panel but can't find anything to fix this issue. That HDMI port is the only display port on the laptop as well.
I have Dell Latitude D820 with NVidia Quadro NVS 120M, but its causing failures, probably NVIDIA GPU. There are vertical straight lines on the screen, sometimes it won't boot at all, sometimes it would go dark screen and never start... etc Its been approximately 2 years since Ive had it.
Im planning on buying Dell latitude E6500.
I have the following questions:
1) Most people's reviews about E6500 are very disappointing, is it really true that E6500 is worse than the D820 or D series laptops in terms of build quality and hardware failure problems?
2) Considering Im having trouble with the NVidia GOU (probably) and that some people have witnessed GPU failures in Apple Macbook Pro (which uses 9400M and 9600M GPUs) and E6500 uses 160M (9300M GPU), so its a 9-series GPUs failing. Should I consider having Quadro NVS 160M in E6500 or I should avoid it and get Intel's Graphics card for now?
3) How much performance affect is there if comparing NVS 160 M with Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD ? regarding the basic 3D simulations, such as using Macromedia Director or Studio Max, or games? I mean to ask, is Quadro NVS 160M really worth it?
Purolator left me a message saying my Dell laptop will arrive tomorrow morning. Ordered the Inspiron 13 on Sep 10th. Would I be able to run Counter Strike Source on high with Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100? I was able to run Fallout 3 on medium with GeForce 9500M GS. How does Intel X3100 compare to NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS?
I don't play any computer games. Had Fallout 3 for PC when my Xbox 360 broke again. I'm not going to play any games with this new Inspiron 13, but still just wondering. I have a 16" Acer right now, I wanted a smaller laptop to carry around and faster CPU. I hope the T8300 does its job.
I am looking for an office laptop.. want E6400.. but, I don't want to go w/ nvidia video due to lot of heat and fan issues. Only reason I wanted to go w/ nvidia is their DIGITAL Vibrance... I LOVE IT!! Make the colors very rich and bright and I cannot live w/ it.
Does Intel video card have something close? My old laptop had Intel video and it is very junk, it had blue tint to entire screen.
wen i bought my studio 15 i go the Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD for my gpu cuz i dont do any serious gaming... anyways i play this korean fps game and looked at the requirements and thought i would be ok, but i cant run it.
the system requirements for the game is pentium 3-800 mhz for cpu, for the graphics its atleast 32 mb, and the ram is 256mb. i mean my like 5+ year old desktop ran it and how come my studio 15 cant run it. i d/l and wat ur suppose to do is log in at the web browser at ie, then click the server and loads the game.
after it loads and its about to enter it, the screen just turns black, and stays there.
I actually want the Intel Integrated graphics for the dv7t. This was offered a couple months ago but now the only options are for NVidia chips. Will the integrated graphics ever come back or are they gone for good?
Also, what happened to the regular edition dv5t? The special edition is nice and all, but I don't care about the fancy case. Are the new low-resolution 16:9 laptops taking over completely?
Currently I have twice the nVidia gt 755m, working on SLI. Though a lot of games I play are incompatible with SLI and will heat op my laptop with bad performace. I could turn off my SLI option to have some normal fps again, but since skype and my mouse driver needs to be turned off everytime I want to turn on or off SLI it is not really my favorite option.
When you have twice the nvidia, the bios will automatically turn off the intel hd graphics. I would like to know if there is a possibility to turn on the intel hd graphics, then I could run my desktop + the programs that need to be turned of for the switching on the intel hd. I hope this would be possible to enable and that there will be no power issues when turning it on (3 graphic cards will take some power).
I have installed windows 7 64 bit. I have downloaded NVIDIA graphics driver. When i am trying to install it , it shows me error that install Intel Driver first.   So i am looking for Intel Graphics driver for my Laptop HP 15 n-204tx (Windows 7 64-bit)
I installed Windows 8.1 Update 1 x64 to my HP Pavilion G6 2240SH laptop. I started install the drivers and I got an error message in the Intel High-Definition setup: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software."   Intel HD driver version: 10.18.10.3277
I got my HP Envy dv7-7250us back in May 2013, and realized that the most recent version of its Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver software is 220.127.116.1157 from November 2012.  Intel's official driver is now at version 18.104.22.168.3071 (22.214.171.12471) from March 2013. I am unable to install Intel's update though, because it detects HP's version of the driver and refuses to install a generic version.  However, HP's current version is very dated, and I'm running into severe performance issues in many games.   Is it possible that HP could ever bring their Intel HD Graphics 4000 drivers up to date?
I have windows 7 Inspiron 1545 that keeps going to a black screen, recovering, and then saying "Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for Windows Vista(R) stopped responding and has fully recovered." But I do not have vista. Do I need to update?
