View 7 Replies View RelatedI have tried to restore laptop to oringal factory settings using Gateway Recovery Management disks purchased from Gateway. I have booted from System Disk (1 of 4) which ejected and instructed me to insert Recovery Disk 1 which loaded files (100%). Recovery Disk 1 ejected and instructed me to insert Recovery Disk 2 which also loaded files (100%). Then a "Restore Progress"window opened and and the process progressed to 79% and gave the following error messages: "WIMApplyImage fail. Error0x570" and "Fail to Restore Image".
Prior to attempting the Restore process, all I get when I start the Gateway NV59C laptop is the following screen:

I would like to change it's preinstalled Linux with a Windows 7 version. But I don't know which exact versions of Windows 7 this particular model is compatible with, because I failed to install the AMD graphics adapter driver from the support DVD disk on a Windows 7 64bit. Do I miss something ? Need I, for example, make any changes in the BIOS ?
I have found same drivers to download, but none of them was successfull for my laptop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased a new Pavilion 15-p080ca Windows 8 laptop from tigerdirect.ca and received it a couple of days ago.
The computer had randomly rebooted during working on it, I remember having read an IO error message in a windows popup. Since then, it continuously reboot, tries to load windows, fails and reboot until automatic repair kicks in.
Bios system log has many warnings/error: 03F0, 03F1, 0021. I got about 3 times a hard disk not found error on POST.
I am unable to repair the installation whether from the recovery partition or from recovery discs, I get "The drive is locked error" or "Automatic repair could not repair your pc".
Also recovery manager can't find the recovery partition. On command prompt, diskpart does not list disk; "There are no fixed disk to show".
However, Ubuntu live cd and Mini xp are able to see every partitions, show files and read them, a fast HDtune read test shows no disk error.
The computer is able to read from hard drive since I am able to get on recovery and windows tries to load until I get the "Your pc ran into a problem that it couldn't handle and it needs to restart"
HP PC Hardware Diagnostics SMART test passed, Short DST returns Warning. HP diagnostic smart test returned "no hard disk installed" message one time.
Anything Windows 8 based, whether recovery disk, original media are not able to see hard drive.
I tried booting recovery disk, recovery partition with every combination of Legacy support and Secure boot to recover the partitions without success since the hard drive is not detected (from diskpart list disk command). From the recovery dvds I get a 0xefffff08 error. I also tried to remove the recovery partition thinking it could want to recover from it to get things faster.
I'm using aspire E1-510. I run two windows os on my system; win 8.1 and win 7. When I'm running win 7, my USB ports dont work. That's, if I plug my flash drive or any external device, it doesn't work. But when I run win 8.1, they all work well. What do I do so that my USB ports can as well work on win 7?
Secondly, is it safe to install Norton Internet Security on both OS?
My SD Memory Card isn't functioning. I think I need driver. Are they available somewhere?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Acer Aspire 5810TZ-4433 (Model MS2272) laptop unit. The HDMI connection to my TV functioned correctly until yesterday when it will no longer show the desktop icons or live internet connections on my TV screen. I have wallpaper which shows (The MS wolf theme that is included in the Win 7 Pro OS) just fine but no desktop icon overlays nor will it show the live internet windows.
The laptop itself appears to be functioning normally. For some reason the HDMI cable is not carrying the other digital data to my TV screen.
In summary: Laptop screen shows all the icons on the desktop with them overlaying the "wolf" wallpaper background. I have normal functioning of the computer when I click on these icons.
TV screen: Shows only the 'wolf" wallpaper background. No other information is viewable on the TV
I have tried using different HDMI inputs on the TV using several different HDMI cables all without success. To my knowledge there has been no damage to the laptop's HDMI output connector.

stinking Blinking cursor on duh black screen thing . . . for and hour but I decided not to play Frisbee golf or discus throwing
So being such a lover of Vista I tried again . I put the RESTORE DVD that have always worked before (7 times before) into the optic drive,
Heard the DVD drive spin up and get duh . . .
I stated erecovery BUT

So I tic OK and get. .

So what is wrong as the Restore from drive and the restore from DVD do not get restored?

my internet stopped working on my laptop so I loaded the Recovery DVD and tried to re-install the windows vista but i get a error saying it failed and click ok to restart . I tried the ALT + f10 thing at the start of the acer screen but nothing happend
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Acer 5610 had a "Supervisor Password" entered, I believe by my grandson two years ago. I noticed it once, didn't know how go get in so never did. Recently had a bad day. Used what I had for a restore back a few days, nothing worked.
I have the two Recovery Disk I made the day I bought this. Never used them. I can't get the disk to take hold and restore to Factory. I get a message I'm going to try to attach. It's not clear. What is stumping me is the last entry. "[ /NoExecute=Option]" That is the bottom. On the bar at the bottom is "ENTER=Submit" I've tried every thing I know to do.
I've learned to use the PC on my own as I live many miles from a city. Done fair but now I'm stumped. By the way I'm 75 years of age. My learning term as been more than 7 years.
Before I get grilled for not backing up my documents, I want to say I did, I just forgot about the files in my PSD ( i know of all files to forget).
So I sent my laptop in for repair, comes back they have done a clean install of windows.
I got my laptop back this morning and when i started to transfer my back up files back over i remembered that i forgot to back up my PSD files. Is there any chance of recovering them after a reinstallation of windows? with my knowledge the answer would be no, correct? Hopefully there is some lifesaver out there that knows how to get them back. Awaiting replies and hoping for the best.

I have a bit older Acer Extensa 4620Z - quite a while back (probalby 9 months) i had problems with it and it stopped working, couldnt find operating system or hard drive. I finnally decided to buy a new hard drive for it once i found out it was that the hard drive had died. I got my new seagate harddrive and installed it - I also order recovery disks from Acer so I could get my system back up and running.
This is where my problem is. I can see the harddrive from bios and at first when i tried running the recovery disks it kept saying there was no appropriate partition. I made a bootable copy of a program so I could create partitions on the harddrive. I did this and then tried running the recovery disks. This time it went further and started the recovery process but everytime it gets to D1E4T303.044 in the process (at 47%) - it stops... and sits there a second and then either jumps to 100% and starts over or an error pops up (error: 0xD000001D).
I can not figure out where to go from here - isn't there some way I can use the recovery disks to get my system up and running on the new hard drive?
I've had the impression that restore disks could only be made once, since I first had a Lenovo that told me I could only make the recovery disks once, due to the Windows licensing, I think. Does Acer also give you a limit to how many copies you can make or not?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an Aspire 8940G I bought almost 5 years ago. I got it with an Optiarc BD-ROM BC-5500S. It worked fine for years but for the last 6 months, it won't play Bluray disks. It doesn't even seem to recognize that there is a disk in the drive if it is a bluray.
I have tried everything that I could find recommended to do but to no avail. It just makes that ba-DUM sound 3 times when I put a bluray disk in and then nothing.
I'm running windows 7 64-bit that I installed as soon as I got the machine. No major changes recently. I've tried MS Fixit, updating driver from sony (doesn't actually work, fails every time and I then have to reboot to get power back to the drive).
I'm thinking that the mechanism that works the laser for the bluray just stopped working and therefore it is not able to read bluray disks anymore.
My question then is can I get any another Optiarc BC-5500S and istall that? Or does it have to be one specifically made for an Aspire 8940G? Maybe I can got one for a Vaio or HP and then change the bezel to fit my aspire 8940G?
i have an acer who recently stuffed up on me.. i havent tried to boot from cd to reinstall windows etc yet because i want to try salvage some of the data from it - photograhs, music etc.
I have an USB ide enclosure which i use with other 2.5" IDE hdd's and it works fine.
However when i plug in the HDD from my failed acer laptop into it, it doesnt come up on "my computer"
it is visible under disk management but i cant seem to make it an accessible drive to copy things from it

A quick shout-out to those who upgraded their hardware--especially the GPU.. Have you used your factory reset disks after upgrading your hardware? Or do you have to switch in the default ones before using the recovery?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just purchased this model from my local Best Buy, and after having valiantly turned down their $150 set-up fee, I decided to try my hand at making the recover disks myself. Obviously, I failed miserably.
Here's my problem: using the eRecovery program on the laptop, I've tried burning a default factory disk using several types of CD's and DVD's but each time, the program rejects my disks and asks for a blank one. The error code that comes up is Error 0x205.
I've looked at the Acer Europe website, but I have not come to any conclusion as to how to fix this problem. My software seems to be up to date but could it be a faulty optical drive?
I have to either Launch start up repair or start windows normally. I've down the start up repair and it says that it is finished turns the laptop off and then restarts but when it gets to the boot up screen it just runs with the little bar with arrows going along for ages and doesn't progress so I have to switch the laptop off again which means next time I start it I go back to the initial problem.
I didn't get a recovery disk or anything with my laptop so not sure if there is a way of getting in and partioning the disk otherwise or rebooting the hard drive.
I bought an ES1-511-C590. It came with Windows 8.1 with Bing. It has a built-in recovery partition named push button recovery or something.
I really do not like built-in recovery mechanism on the same HDD. I perfer a DVD/USB or any external media.I wanted to export that recovery parititon to a DVD/USB. I searched the web and found that I needed to use Acer eRecovery Managment application. But mine did not came with that software, and I could not find it on Acer's web site either.
I installed Windows 10 on it. I did not like this laptop, so I decided to sell it. Now, I want to make it to factory settings. Pressing Alt + F10 showed some kind of error, like it cannot verify the signature of winload.efi. I thought Windows 10 somehow messed it up. So I installed normal Windows 8.1 Pro I had. Then tried Alt + F10. Now, it did not show that winload.efi error, but it asks me to insert a recevery media. That is, it does not recognise the recovery partition.
By the way, the screen of Alt + F10 looked like stock Windows 8.1 screen from Microsoft, not Acer. When I watched it on their web site, it showed some kind of Acer recovery program. Is this normal?
What happened? Is my recovery feature broken? I can still see the recovery partition (11.03GB), why can't I recover it? Any method to recover the factory state.
Can I recover MS Office Home & Student 2007 Trial Edition from the factory backup I did when I get the laptop, but without recovering anything else?
This is an Aspire 4530 running Vista.
The trial version expired and I wanted to uninstall it and install my own copy of Office 2003. But if course it would not uninstall - probably because I wasn't the real "Administrator" at the time. I followed the MS guide for forceably uninstalling and deleting the product, but that failed also.
The only recourse seems to be to re-install it from the 3 factory backup DVDs that I made when I got the laptop. But I have a feeling that all I can do is recover (overwrite) the C drive from the recovery DVDs - either all or nothing. Is that correct?
I may have destroyed the recovery partition when I used EaseUS Partition Master to split the C: partition into two partitions. How to recover the partitions necessary for recovery? When I do to Advanced Startup, I do not get a 'Troubleshoot' option.

Right now I want to recover system to factory default but I haven't recovery disk nor recovery partition. I've got only backup five files ended with .NFB extensión and one with .CAL extensión. I've tested ghost programs and backup software but none of them could read backup files. Is there any solution for this without buying the recovery disks ?

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen my computer boots up it says "automatic repair" then it says "diagnosing your pc" then it goes from the logo screen to a blue screen that says "automatic repair" it gives you options and plenty of them but none of them work for my notebook computer. im starting to think of just throwing it away because it cannot be repaired and i dont have a warranty on it anymore in order to send it in. even if i did have the warranty it would take months to get back to me. so.....anyways ive tried command prompt to somehow reset it to factory defaults but i do not know how to do that. when i click on refresh your pc it says "there was a problem with refreshing your pc." and then when i click on "reset your pc" says "there was a problem resetting your pc" ....

The problem is after updating with microsoft updates and changing the useable memory setting to 0 Windows 7 will not start up.. so I tried to restore from earlier restore points. Windows 7 home premium still won't start up. I tried using the windows automatic repair, it fails after a few minutes. I tried resetting the BIOS to system defaults. Windows still won't start up.... says windows start up, but after a minute a black screen flashes and laptop shuts off. I don't have any recovery disks.

Also on a 2nd HD I find that the Acer program eRecovery will no longer run.
This appears that Acer sels computers and doesn't provide the software needed to do basic recovery actions we could do under W-95
Acer will also sell you a "Recovery" CD sets that do not actually allow you to recover your system so you have a functioning PC.
