Acer :: Tried Running The Recovery Disks It Kept Saying There Was No Appropriate Partition

Feb 27, 2010

I have a bit older Acer Extensa 4620Z - quite a while back (probalby 9 months) i had problems with it and it stopped working, couldnt find operating system or hard drive. I finnally decided to buy a new hard drive for it once i found out it was that the hard drive had died. I got my new seagate harddrive and installed it - I also order recovery disks from Acer so I could get my system back up and running.

This is where my problem is. I can see the harddrive from bios and at first when i tried running the recovery disks it kept saying there was no appropriate partition. I made a bootable copy of a program so I could create partitions on the harddrive. I did this and then tried running the recovery disks. This time it went further and started the recovery process but everytime it gets to D1E4T303.044 in the process (at 47%) - it stops... and sits there a second and then either jumps to 100% and starts over or an error pops up (error: 0xD000001D).

I can not figure out where to go from here - isn't there some way I can use the recovery disks to get my system up and running on the new hard drive?

HP/Compaq :: Want To Clean Up/format Presario C310 -- Use Recovery Disks Or Recovery Partition?

Aug 30, 2009

Ive just done a clean install of my Dell Vostro -- reinstalling vista and removing the recovery partition in the process. Outcome = a cleaner machine with none of the preinstalled bloatware/c**p from Dell. (first time Ive done anything like this, but followed a brill guide in the Dell section of this forum ).

Im about to tackle my Mums Compaq Presario C310EA. The aim is to remove all the rubbish she has accumulated over the years, incl any spyware/ adware she may have, and generally have a bit of a clean sweep. hopefully resulting in a faster laptop. Im backing up her data, and moving some of my Dads stuff somewhere else.

Basically I want to clean up as much as poss, but unfortunately she has no xp disk, just the recovery disks (cds) she burned when she first got the laptop.

As she has no xp disk I guess the best I can hope for is to reset the laptop to the factory settings (?) .. not ideal, but I dont think the (factory set) bloatware is too much of an issue for her shes not a heavy user.

Should I use the recovery partition for this, or do I need to use the cds she burned? .

Id like to know the best approach and cant seem to find a set of instructions to follow.

Acer :: How Many Copies Of The Recovery Disks Can I Make

May 23, 2009

I've had the impression that restore disks could only be made once, since I first had a Lenovo that told me I could only make the recovery disks once, due to the Windows licensing, I think. Does Acer also give you a limit to how many copies you can make or not?

Acer :: Aspire 5536G Can't Make Recovery Disks

Jul 1, 2009

I just purchased this model from my local Best Buy, and after having valiantly turned down their $150 set-up fee, I decided to try my hand at making the recover disks myself. Obviously, I failed miserably.

Here's my problem: using the eRecovery program on the laptop, I've tried burning a default factory disk using several types of CD's and DVD's but each time, the program rejects my disks and asks for a blank one. The error code that comes up is Error 0x205.

I've looked at the Acer Europe website, but I have not come to any conclusion as to how to fix this problem. My software seems to be up to date but could it be a faulty optical drive?

Even though I bought the disks, Acer Customer Service won't let me talk to a tech because my net book is not unwarranty - mfg date is 1/14/2012.

Acer :: Recreating The Recovery Partition

Mar 7, 2009

For reasons that are too long to explain, I managed to destroy this partition on the hard drive of my Acer 4539G laptop. So no PQservice partition and the original Acer MBR is gone too. All I have left is a couple of FAT32 partitions.

I do have the contents of the PQservice partition on a USB stick.

Is there a way to recreate the PQservice partition, so that Acer's eRecovery would work again?

Acer :: How To Format/partition New Hdd Using Recovery CD

Feb 5, 2009

how to partition my hdd?

(using Acer Recovery CD to install Win XP)

I have an Acer Ferrari 3000Lmi notebook.
I just replaced the hdd with a new one.
it's 80GB 5400 rpm, IDE
It's not formatted and it's not partitioned.
My notebook is an old model,
so I don't think there's a recovery partition and it doesn't have an e-empowering acer button, etc.
It only comes with Acer recovery CD's.

when I put the new hdd in, it's detected in bios,
so I installed Win XP Home using the Acer Recovery CD.
and it didn't have option to format or to partition my hdd there.
everything just ran automatically.
and now I have one C: drive.

Can anyone help me on how to partition my hdd ?
I prefer not to use partition magic/other programs to partition my hdd.
I don't know if I have DOS.
I don't mind installing XP all over again, I just don't know how to format/partition the hdd before using the recovery CD.

Acer Gateway NV59C :: Windows 7 - Unable To Restore Gateway Using Recovery Management Disks

Sep 24, 2014

I have tried to restore laptop to oringal factory settings using Gateway Recovery Management disks purchased from Gateway. I have booted from System Disk (1 of 4) which ejected and instructed me to insert Recovery Disk 1 which loaded files (100%). Recovery Disk 1 ejected and instructed me to insert Recovery Disk 2 which also loaded files (100%). Then a "Restore Progress"window opened and and the process progressed to 79% and gave the following error messages: "WIMApplyImage fail. Error0x570" and "Fail to Restore Image".

Prior to attempting the Restore process, all I get when I start the Gateway NV59C laptop is the following screen:

Windows Boot Manager

A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source.

If you have a windows installation disc, insert the disc and restart your computer. Click “Repair your computer,” and then choose a recovery tool.

Otherwise, to start windows so you can investigate further, press the enter key to display the boot menu, press F8 for Advanced Boot Options, and select Last Known Good. If you understand why the digital signature cannot be verified and want to start windows with this file, temporarily disable the driver signature enforcement.

File: windowssystem32ootwinload.exe

Status:            0xc0000428

Info: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. what is causing these error messages?

Acer :: MultiBooting, EasyBCD And Recovery Partition

May 7, 2009

I'm thinking of installing XP alongside my default Vista installation and I've got a pretty good idea how to do that..just that there are some questions in my mind..

First, since I have two partitions (One ACER and one DATA) i wouldn't need to shrink my Vista drive, right? I just have to set-up a 'neutral' partition where I would put in files that I want to share between XP and Vista, right?

Second, would using EasyBCD and/or installing another OS and/or using Startup Repair (just in case) ruin my recovery partition or something? I remember in my old Lenovo laptop that when I used Startup Repair it somehow managed to screw my recovery partition and made it show up in My Computer..

Lastly, if ever I decide to use my restore disks, would it restore just the Vista partition or both of them?

Acer :: Recovery Partition Backup Howto

Apr 14, 2010

I have the AS1410 with win7. I couldn't get the virtual cd solution to work (perhaps that is because the version is now 10 not 9 or that I'm on win7 64bit). So my approach is to copy the the first 2 partitions, PQService and the 100MB one, and track 0 (MBR). These are all that is needed to build a new system on a new disk (I think). So here is my how to:

1. Grab your free copy of Paragon Backup and Restore from here and install it and get a free serial number from the web page it gives when you install.

2. Run it and choose backup disk or partition. Tick to save track 0 + MBR, and the first 2 partitions before C: to an empty directory on C:. Remember to apply changes then wait for this finish.

3: Copy this directory to a PC with a DVD burner.

Inside the directory you'll find the archive files split into DVD size chunks. Burn these to DVDs together with downloads of Paragon Backup and Restore, 32bit and 64bit to cover all bases if you want, plus the serial number, and a text file telling yourself what to do, which is: Install Paragon Backup and Restore, combine all the archive files into one directory on a hard disk, then rebuild track 0 and the first 2 partitions.

Acer :: Deleting Recovery Partition On Switch 10

Oct 2, 2014

First I already created the factory default backup for recovery on USB drives (did 2 of them), but before I want to delete the recovery parittion, I would like to test first the recovery I created on the USB drives.

Here is my dillema:I can get to the bios and have already setup the boot sequence to make the primary boot device my USB flash drive.  It seems not to get there.

I tried the other option the D2D, wherein I hit the volume up button and the windows button onscreen and I got to D2D.  I get to the menu wherein I am trying to recover from an image and have inserted the USB drive.  That is where it all stops.  It cannnot find the recovery image even though I have already inserted the USB flash drive even before boot up.  I did this with both the USB flash drives I made.

I am pretty sure that the USB flash drives contains recovery file, since the USB flash drives titled "recovery" and it contains folders such as "boot" and it has files.  I tried both USB ports (micro - using the OTG cable, and the actual USB port on the keyboard)

Acer Aspire V5 :: Keep Freezing Up - Cannot Access Recovery Partition

Dec 10, 2014

My Aspire V5-552PG-X809 has frozen 5 times in the last two days. Why is this happening, and how do I stop it. I just got it back from being serviced about two weeks ago, and did a fresh install of windows recently.

Here's the timeline for my system: About 6 weeks ago the system froze and needed a hard restart. Upon restarting, nothing would load. I couldn't access the recovery partition, and repair media did nothing.  I sent it back to ACER for repair, and they replaced the HDD. It ran fine for about two weeks, but I was not paying attention during setup and put in the wrong username (This normally wouldn't be an issue, except it changed the name of the user directory and was a hassle for some R code that I had written). I reinstalled windows and fixed the directory issue about two days ago. Since that time I have had about 5 system freezes requiring hard restarts, and every time I'm paranoid that it will kill my HDD again.

Acer Aspire E1 571-6471 :: Cannot Access Recovery Partition

Feb 16, 2015

I purchased an Acer Aspire about a year ago and the laptop has seen minimal. I have experienced a common problem that Windows 8 users have. When I upgraded to Windows 8.1 - I got a 'failure to reconfigure updates' reverting back and it would go into a loop and continually do this. I only discovered this was common after. ALT+F10 does not work for me. Even though it appears the option is enabled on my computer. Currently if I can get the function to work - ALT+F10 did up until recently bring me to 'Preparing Start Up Repair' - then it would go to System Restore.

After System Restore started, the splash screen would just stay displayed and nothing happens. I am attempting to order recovery disks but apparently non US customers have issues with ordering them. I don't understand how this can happen. I have not used the laptop very often at all. It's practically a fresh install. In a year it has maybe seen 50 hours of usage. I have no way of accessing system recovery options as of now. The laptop is essentially bricked.

Acer Aspire ES1-511-C590 :: How To Recover From Recovery Partition

Nov 8, 2014

I bought an ES1-511-C590. It came with Windows 8.1 with Bing. It has a built-in recovery partition named push button recovery or something.

I really do not like built-in recovery mechanism on the same HDD. I perfer a DVD/USB or any external media.I wanted to export that recovery parititon to a DVD/USB. I searched the web and found that I needed to use Acer eRecovery Managment application. But mine did not came with that software, and I could not find it on Acer's web site either.

I installed Windows 10 on it. I did not like this laptop, so I decided to sell it. Now, I want to make it to factory settings. Pressing Alt + F10 showed some kind of error, like it cannot verify the signature of winload.efi. I thought Windows 10 somehow messed it up. So I installed normal Windows 8.1 Pro I had. Then tried Alt + F10. Now, it did not show that winload.efi error, but it asks me to insert a recevery media. That is, it does not recognise the recovery partition.

By the way, the screen of Alt + F10 looked like stock Windows 8.1 screen from Microsoft, not Acer. When I watched it on their web site, it showed some kind of Acer recovery program. Is this normal?

What happened? Is my recovery feature broken? I can still see the recovery partition (11.03GB), why can't I recover it? Any method to recover the factory state.

Acer :: How To Unhide And Delete Recovery Partition In Aspire 6920

Oct 3, 2009

I have Acer Aspire 6920 Notebook which came with vista home premium in 64 bit installed. I have made Recovery disks (3 DVDs) and had resorted to factory defaults several times by using the DVDs and not by Alt+F10 (at that time I did not know about alt+f10). I now have removed the 64- bit vista home premium and have windows-7 Ultimate RTM, Vista Home Premium and XP Pro all in 32 bit in three separate partitions in one single hdd. I have also done BIOS upgrade from 1.06 to 1.14. I have SATA mode set to IDE instead of the default AHCI due to XP not functioning under AHCI interface.

My BIOS shows hdd pw frozen by default though I have removed the hdd and set the BIOS to default twice. I find the Vista Home Premium in 64 bit OEM is a real pain since it has a lot of third party softwares free and sharewares which I have to uninstall every time (more than 20 of them) and therefore I tried to delete the acers recovery partition which is of 18 GB size and my Notebook with 250 GB hdd shows only 232 GB.

However, the partition is hidden and I have tried to unhide and delete the recovery partition with a number of third party partition softwares like Paragon, partedit32, Easeus, Norton, acronis, G-parted, macrium reflect, all with no success!

Now I request the learned members to give me a solution that will work, in simple procedure explained, to unhide the acer recovery partition and deleting it without disturbing my present OSes installed on the three partitions. Macrium does not show the PQ Service/EISA partition.
