Acer :: 6930 Blu-ray LCD
Jan 7, 2009I just picked up a 6930-6805.
I tried hooking up to a 720P LCD via HDMI while playing a blu-ray and I get an error saying the graphics card is inadequate. My model has the Nvidia 9600m GT.
Is there a setting I need to configure?
my screen is the 1366X768.

May 10, 2009When logging into my laptop, i have been useing the finger print reader, and have been since bought laptop(nearly 4 weeks now). I don't remember setting password also, but have never needed it.
When switched laptop on this mroning, the little finger print scanner on top left hand corner of screen has gone.
I can now not get into laptop useing finger print reader. I don't have password(when press enter says enter password).
So now i can't get into laptop. I have no recovery disks.

Dec 24, 2008I've just purchased an Acer Aspire 6930. It came with an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD and a HDMI out port. The weird thing is that if I can't play HD-DVDs or BlueRay discs, then what's the point of having it? Can anyone tell me why they setup that way?

Jan 1, 2009My Aspire 6930 has 320GB by using two hard drives. 142GB on drive C, 138BG on drive D, and 40GB as reserved. Are there any good by using two drives? It looks kind a stupid to me because drive D is like a giant folder in drive C. Do anyone owns the same model with one or two drives?

Mar 16, 2009I have an Acer 6930 G. I had accidentally installed the French Vista (stupid me) and the store gave me the 2 backup DVDs I needed in order to install the English one (they had a previous customer with the same problem). So on the Acer screen, I pressed Alt-F10. I choose restore using user's backup and insert my DVD. Under Source Drive, I choose "Recovery1:Z" which is the name of my 1st recovery disk. Under Backup Point, I cannot choose anything and thus, I cannot hit the next button. I tried enabling F12, and putting USB CD ROM as first priority (didn't make sense but worth a try)

And I was wondering I could use a XP OEM disc that I got from HP about 5 years ago for an NC 8000 notebook? Also do all those OEM XP discs on eBay work with any compuer? Or do I need a speciific brand of computer?

Aug 25, 2009im getting ksod (black screen of death) on my 6930 which came preinstalled with vista home premium. it boots & shows the vista bootscreen & then when it is supposed to show the login screen it just shows a black screen with mouse cursor (which is movable), ctrl+alt+del doesnt work, same condition in the safe mode too. tried booting into startup recovery, it fixed a cpl of probs & said the os s'd boot fine but it still doesnt. i've googled a lot for the last cpl of days & didnt find a definitive fix for the prob. i've tried a cpl of fixes that i found but none worked. so finally i've decided to do a clean install (after i back up my docs & stuffs from C: to D: ). now i need to be sure abt a few things b4 i decide which way to go-
1. say i want to reinstall vista from the recovery disks, will that effect my D: (data partition) or just C:?
2. say i want to replace vista with xp (with sata slipstreamed), will that corrupt the recovery partition? do i need to repartition the whole drive to install xp?
3. say i installed xp & then later someday decided to install vista again from the recovery disks, will that wipe out the whole partition table to revert it back to factory settings?

Aug 16, 2009Did Acer stop producing this model or are they behind on production? Anyone know if they coming out with an updated version of this model or resupplying the channel any time soon?
This was a 16", Intel P8600 w/Nvidia 9600GS. All the Acer 15" and 16" laptops do not come close to those specs. Kind of odd no availability and only models available have much lower CPU/GPU specs.
Dell :: E6400 Vista X64 Aero
Apr 7, 2009I just received an E6400 at my work with the Nvidia NVS 160M card.
My Vista Aero score is 3.4, but to me just normal windows operations seem sluggish and jerky.
I've had a Vista box with integrated graphics that handle simple Aero transitions much better. I've gotten the latest Dell supported nvidia driver and it has had no effect.

Mar 21, 2010I just got my CW290 and I am having something weird happening:
My aero disappeared after using the computer for a while. I can troubleshoot in the personalize menu on the control panel and it would work again. But it says to check if video card supports aero (and obviously it is b/c mine is Nvidia 310m). I called support and they only could do that much. Also, when I try to run the re-assessment after this, it says it can't compute the video score. If I restart the computer, it works perfect again.all the drivers are up to date. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and it was still the same.
HP/Compaq :: New Dv4t- Aero Enabled
Jul 24, 2009I just got a dv4t shipped from hp with 2.53 gigahertz, 4 gigs ram, and integrated graphics and I seem to be having a problem. After about half an hour to 40 minutes of talking on skype with video, with firefox and maybe a folder or two open, aero enabled, opening just one more app that isn't even too processor intensive such as the task manager or device manager, I suddenly get a message stating aero needs to shut off and my webcam stops working. The only way to fix it seems to be to shut down skype. After I do that everything is restored.

Dec 10, 2008i am considering an upgrade of my cpu but am not sure wich cpu to buy. Either T9600 or P9600. I know P9600 works cooler and consumes less power, but i dont actualy know how much lower it's performance is. (got my information here and some on intel's website)
My current config is:
Intel Core2Duo P7350 2.0ghz
Geforce 9600M GS 512mb DDR2
3gigs ddr2 ram.
I'd like to increase the gaming performance mostly, so is the cpu upgrade worth it considering the cost?

Dec 14, 2008I've recently downgraded an Aspire 6930 from Vista to XP and am having difficulty getting the computer to recognize that it has a modem! If I can just get the ethernet/modem/WiFi up and working I'd be set. Does anyone have any idea where I can find the drivers I need to get this thing up and working?

Mar 24, 2010Up until now, the speakers have been working fine, especially the 5.1 surround sound.
Though, after reinstalling the Realtek HD Audio driver for my 6930, the 5.1 surround sound doesn't seem to be working as well as before. Although I can still select 5.1 sound, there appears to be little difference in the audio, as now it sounds quite treble-like (no bass at all). I've reinstalled the audio driver several times, with the same result every time.

Jun 16, 2009got my AS6930 from Tiger in. It does have 2nd hard drive bay as i though and has the sata connection. The problem is that there is no bracket to hold the drive in place and also the bay cover has 2 prongs that prevent a 2nd hard drive. I have tried finding the spare parts so that I can interchange and install but looks hopeless unless someone knows who I can order parts through in the states. my other option is to basically come up with my own way to secure the drive. Right now I would have to take a dremel to the 2 prongs (plastic) and sand then down just enough to where they contact the bottom of the new installed drive rather than bottom of the bay. 2nd would be find some type of material that I could use to place between the hard drive and the side of the bay to keep it from coming loose.

Mar 17, 2009I just got this latop and installation of Vista was done at first bootup. The thing is, it installs a tone of junk apps too!
I removed allot of it but now it doesn't always bootup. I'll get a black screen only and I have to reboot again. I don't think I deleted any system files but there may be some conflict or something at bootup (sometimes).
Is there a way to reinstall just Vista without all that junk?

Dec 29, 2008I'm looking for a new laptop (for basic use, nothing fancy) and am having trouble deciding between these two. I'm basically looking at the base models, specifically at, say, these two: this 6920 [url] and a 6930 with these stats [url]
With comparable hardware, is there much difference between the two? I like the keyboard layout on the 6920 better than the 6930 (not a fan of the number pad) but that's mostly aesthetic. Do the two differ much in any significant way? Why is the 6930 a little bit pricier?

Sep 2, 2009Been looking at getting a mid range media / gaming laptop and it seems that Acer with the 6920/6930/6935 range seem to have the best range of affordability and good specs in the laptops.
But I was wondering about build quality, I had a shot with one of them in Carphone Warehouse and it seems very cheap and breakable is this the case or are the good quality built laptops?

Aug 12, 2009I have just installed Windows 7 RC, and all the drivers work like a charm!
But I can't use the audio-touch panel, and that's a bit sad ! The other mediabuttons work just fine.
I fixed a friends Acer computer the other day, and he had the same problem, and I found out it was because he had deactivated the Empowering Technology programs. I have installed them, but everytime I try to open it, it says: Sorry! The OS is not supported!". I have tried to run the program in compatibilty mode;(

Nov 22, 2007I never seen any problems with my video card playing any game or something like that, but the Vista interface
Specs: Dell e1705 @ C2D 7200, 2GB, 200GB 7.2k RPM, 7900GS @ WUXGA 1920x1200
"Aero" seems to don't like my video card or even me,
The Artifacting blink SOMETIMES when I minimize or maximize (open new one also) any window, explorer or any software... It happens only sometimes, but it gets very anoying to see... and I'm worried about if my card is damanged, if so, I really want to replace while I'm still on it's 1 Yr Standard warranty.
I'll be trying to get some picture (which is hard, because it just 'blinks' on screen) or maybe even some video of that.
Thanks for any suggestion / information.
EDIT: By the way, I'm using the latest driver by nVidia, "MobileForce M6" enhanced. In my device properties it says:
Total available graphics memory: 1023MB
Dedicated Memory: 256MB
System video memory: 0MB
Shared System memory: 767MB
Why it says shared if nVidia never said anything about sharing memory with this card model?! Is there any way to disable this sharing? I believe that sharing a 767MB DDR2-533 with a video card isn't that beneficial.
HP/Compaq :: 5.0 Windows Index, And MyHDx16 Still Cannot Run Aero At Fullest
Oct 8, 2009I just noticed that my window drag with content ability has disappeared. I go to personilize -> window color and app -> classic appearence -> effects and click show window content while draging... all is good until the restart.
Does vista think that my comp doesn't have enough power to run aero at fullest? I have 4 gigs of ram, and 130M video card, what else does it want?
