I presume this is Windows 7-only?

I don't own a Mac (yet), so I'm unsure about how Nvidia/homebrew supports OC'ing in OSX (or if they do at all).

Needless to say, this is fantastic news for me and everyone else needing to bleed more from a GPU than what the 330M offers by default. that's almost a 30% increase right there, folks..........................

Dell :: Are They Overclockable?

Jan 29, 2009

I just bought a Studio XPS 1340 with a P9500 processor and the GeForce 9500m GE graphics option.

This is my first "OEM" machine since my first computer, a Packard Bell my mom bought the family in 1994, and so I am have been spoiled with the easy overclocking and tweaking to be had with the plethora of white box machines I have put together over the years.

My question -

How difficult is it to overclock the CPU and GPU on Dell Laptops? Are there any special methods or programs specific to Dell motherboards that I should be looking into?

Dell :: [m90] T7600G, Isn't Overclockable

i bought a T7600G for my m90 from second Hand (..from firestarter, also activ in this Forum..). It originally comes from IT-Premier, a shop you already know, like I saw...

Now - the prob is, that the Bios don't let me overclock my lovely G! I'm sure, it is possible, because IT-Premier sells a m90 with 7600G. I've already ask him for his modified Bios (if exist..) but even no answer..

Are there any of you who are able to OC your 9300M GS? If so, can someone give me a copy of the vBIOS? I think my BIOS won't let me overclock, so..

I'm looking to upgrade my card to an 8600M GT or a 9500M GS (thanks to TehSuigi ), but until I can confirm that I could do that, and until I get enough money, I'm looking at trying to OC this first, so can you please help me? current version of vBIOS is 62.98.25.00.A3..

Sony :: Is The Graphics On The Vaio E Series Overclockable

May 28, 2010

I'm looking to buy the new Sony Vaio E series laptop which has a ati mobility radeon 5650. Thing is, the graphics card is underclocked to 450mhz so I was wondering is it possible to overclock it to its default clockspeed of 650mhz?

I've heard that the temperature is barely affected when overclocking this graphics card to its default speed. So would it be safe if this is true?

Also is it possible to install new ati drivers as I've heard that Sony doesn't allow you to. Alternatively does anyone know if Sony actually keeps up to date drivers on its site?

Sony :: Second Life On Z11 Gt 330m

Apr 16, 2010

I posted this in the main thread (where it got instantly buried in the message avalanche)

Question regarding the gt330m

I could swear that the very first time I fired up SecondLife on the Z, that it recognized the gt330m and used it. Also, I'm pretty sure I checked that the cpu utilization was quite low as it ran.

Sony :: Z, 330M And Overheating

Jan 19, 2010

I owned previous Z with P8400 and it was very hot when 100% loaded with 3D-applications (3DMark or games) in speed mode. It is known to overheat with T9900 as well. Now Z uses GT 330M which outputs almost twice as much heat as 9300M GS (I wouldn't count i5 because it has same TDP as Core 2 Duo). Other manufacturers aren't putting 330M in such a small enclosure mainly due to thermal limitations.

Sony posted few images showing its heatsink and fan. I don't see significant changes in cooling system and I'm sick of that.

I don't want to pay premium price and then find 330M unusable due to overheating.

Sony :: GT 330M Throttled Can It Be Fixed

Mar 9, 2010

I've just got a Sony VAIO CW2 with a GT 330M GPU and have read that the chip is throttled from the default settings.

The source is a review at http://www.notebookjournal.de/tests/...w2s1-nkrt-1101, translated with Google Translate.

According to http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-...M.22437.0.html the GT 330M should run at a speed that is higher than what is reported by CPU-Z:

Core Speed: 575 MHz vs my speed of 475 MHz
Shader Speed: 1265 MHz vs my speed of 1045 MHz
Memory Speed: 1066 MHz vs my speed of 680 MHz

HP/Compaq :: Softmod GT 230M Into A GT 330M

Jan 7, 2010

Is it possible to softmod a GT 230M in a dv6 quad into a GT 330M? It would require overclocking the core by 75MHz and the shaders by 165MHz and then getting the drivers to recognize it as a GT 330M instead of a GT 230M. Reason I would want to do this is for the added performance and so that the graphics card is still the "latest generation". How hard do you think it would be to do this and how much more subjectable to overheating do you think it would be if done?

Sony :: Vaio Z11 GT 330m VRAM Type

Apr 13, 2010

I can't seem to confirm what type of VRAM the GT 330m in the Z11 is. All specs listings seem to be inconsistent!

If someone could point me to a screenshot using GPU-Z to verify, I'd be very appreciated!

Reason I ask is it seems the new Macbook Pro 15 inch models come with GDDR3, and I have a hunch that the z11 is just DDR3.

Sony :: VAIO FNVIDIA Drivers Update (197.16) For GT 330M (10DE-0A29)

Apr 1, 2010

Update: NVIDIA released 197.44 drivers for notebooks(with OpenGL 4 support for Fermi GPU), GT300M only gets support up to 3.3

I used the same inf file(changing drivers' version and date, of course) and everything is working as expected.
Just follow the same instructions if you wanna try.
- 197.44 inf file and instructions: Midtown's 197.44 Instructions.zip (Mirrors: Megaupload, Hotfile)
- NVIDIA's original drivers: Download for Windows 7(64-bit)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I managed to install the new NVIDIA drivers for laptops, 197.16 on my VAIO F after modifying the inf file myself for a few hours. I'm no expert, but I guess it worked out fine.

Here's the link for inf file & instructions: Midtown's 197.16 Instructions.zip

Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for any hardware/software failure.

After testing the new drivers for 24hrs:
- No flicker at low brightness
- No uneven brightness after pressing the "Display Off" button
- Fan not constantly running
- "Normal" temperature compared to Sony's "certified" graphic drivers
- No problems after sleep/restart........................

Apple :: Using FAT 32 With Mac OS X

Nov 28, 2009

Conventional wisdom holds that one of FAT 32's classical limitations is a 4 Gigabyte files size limit. I've done a few searches on the net, and I find this rule repeated ad-infinitem, without contradiction.

I recently purchased a 320 GB Iomega Prestige external drive that I plan to use interchangeably with my Mac and PC systems. To do this, I re-formatted the disk to a single 320 GB partition with FAT 32 file system (The drive comes formatted NTFS).

Yeah, I know there are work-arounds that would permit me to format it NTFS, and use it read-write on my Mac, and there are probably a few solutions that would permit me to format it Mac OS Extended, and use it my PC. I prefer not to use any "workarounds".

Here's my question.... I had occasion to copy a few files to the drive from my MacBook to the drive, namely my Virtual Machine files, that I don't want to use Time Machine for. I had no problem doing so. The two files exceed 4 Gigabytes handily, with one of them being over 30 Gigabytes! Oops, this can't be done, right?

I ask, how is this possible? I thought I had a 4 Gigabyte limit with FAT 32. Does the fact that I formatted the drive with my Mac give me some sort of advantage that Microsoft's formatting using the same file system does not?

I have read that the reason the FAT 32 files sytem can't store files over 4 Gigabytes, is the insufficient lack of storage within the allocation table for the requisite number of pointers required for a file over 4 Gig in size.

Apple :: MBP 15 Vs 17

Jan 24, 2009

I know that I have stated earlier that I wasn't considering the MBP 17 because the lack of portability, and that I already got a 24" Full HD screen.

But the thing is; I might be able to get the MBP 17 for the same price as the highend MBP 15, because of all the hassle etc that occurred.

I feel like, I don't really need the extra screen estate, I already think the 15" is barely portable, but the 17" got a great battery etc.

When it comes to what I'm going to use the computer for; mainly light stuff the coming time, but after that I'm going to start using final cut pro a lot and I know the 15" screen isn't enough for the ui of the program and the 17 is enough.
