Sony :: VAIO FNVIDIA Drivers Update (197.16) For GT 330M (10DE-0A29)
Apr 1, 2010
Update: NVIDIA released 197.44 drivers for notebooks(with OpenGL 4 support for Fermi GPU), GT300M only gets support up to 3.3
I used the same inf file(changing drivers' version and date, of course) and everything is working as expected.
Just follow the same instructions if you wanna try.
- 197.44 inf file and instructions: Midtown's 197.44 Instructions.zip (Mirrors: Megaupload, Hotfile)
- NVIDIA's original drivers: Download for Windows 7(64-bit)
So I managed to install the new NVIDIA drivers for laptops, 197.16 on my VAIO F after modifying the inf file myself for a few hours. I'm no expert, but I guess it worked out fine.
Here's the link for inf file & instructions: Midtown's 197.16 Instructions.zip
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for any hardware/software failure.
After testing the new drivers for 24hrs:
- No flicker at low brightness
- No uneven brightness after pressing the "Display Off" button
- Fan not constantly running
- "Normal" temperature compared to Sony's "certified" graphic drivers
- No problems after sleep/restart........................
Trying to get rid of these questionably useful programs -- but I don't see entries for them in add/remove programs in the control panel (or for any of the other useless VAIO software packages that come on OEM machines sans "fresh start")
My sister has a sony VGN-FZ190, and we just put in a new hard drive...problem is, i need to update the drivers, and i cant figure out what she needs, and what she doesnt. the support site is terrible in contrast to dells site (for my dell E6400), so i am kind of lost.
She definitely needs a GPU firmware update (1.0 in windows experience), but i have no idea what to get...nvidias website wont tell me what to download since its a laptop GPU. Are there any other important firmware updates or anything to install, or anything else i should know about this before i mess around with it? Do sony laptops use Intel matrix storage manager? I know that was an important update for mine.
I posted this in the main thread (where it got instantly buried in the message avalanche)
Question regarding the gt330m
I could swear that the very first time I fired up SecondLife on the Z, that it recognized the gt330m and used it. Also, I'm pretty sure I checked that the cpu utilization was quite low as it ran.
I owned previous Z with P8400 and it was very hot when 100% loaded with 3D-applications (3DMark or games) in speed mode. It is known to overheat with T9900 as well. Now Z uses GT 330M which outputs almost twice as much heat as 9300M GS (I wouldn't count i5 because it has same TDP as Core 2 Duo). Other manufacturers aren't putting 330M in such a small enclosure mainly due to thermal limitations.
Sony posted few images showing its heatsink and fan. I don't see significant changes in cooling system and I'm sick of that.
I don't want to pay premium price and then find 330M unusable due to overheating.
I checked both the Canadian and US website, and they dont offer 330ms anymore, instead its 211m / 310m, and they perform at about half the ability of the 330ms
I have a VGN-Z51WG-B laptop (Win7 x64). Since new the Vaio update tells me there are "No updates" available. If however I check manually via the esupport website there are numerous updates for my model which should be available via the Vaio Update Tool. Is there some security settings blocking detection? I have reduced IE8 Security down to "medium".
I'm using a Sony VAIO Laptop. its model is VGN-SZ48GN. BIOS Version is R0111N0. I want to update this to latest version. Do you know anyplace to download this ?
I have a notebook sony VAIO vgn-FS810 and yesterday i'm updating my cddvd with Sony® DW-Q58A-VN Firmware Update [url] , now my optical drive dont work , when i'm put disk in the drive , it is starting to read and i have no result, a system cant see the disk. I try to delete the driver of optical drive , but i't is not help to me. ( The notebook also can't see the disk's in DOS mode).
I got my CW27FX and i ran the VAIO update. it told me to update the updater, and i did. Now everytime i open the updater, i get "Cannot acquire the configuration settings for VAIO Update" when it's checking for updates.
Also, every now and then i get an error from VAIO messenger.
It's also now compatible with IE8's rendering engine (previous Vaio Care versions would crash when rendering checkup reports. Boots much faster than it used to and seems to work with Vista a bit better in general, though I've not looked at every feature.
good piece of software to have an allow to run if you haven't before. FYI.
From browsing the forums, i see that everyone is having trouble updating their drivers. Mobility modder currently does not support the ATI 4 series but there is still a way to install the drivers for us fortunuately . By doing this, you are able to install the display driver v9.6 but no CCC unforunately; however you can still retain the CCC v9.2 from Sony's official drivers.
1> Download the appropriate version OS of the 9.6 driver from [url]
2> Double click the file you just download and click install. It will unzip a folder to C:ATI (default). These are driver files. When the actual installation wizard comes up, cancel it.
3> Browse to C:ATI9-6_beta_win7_64_dd_CC (Driver name, e.g.)PackagesDriversDisplayW7_INF (For 32-bit) OR W76A_INF (for 64-bit)
**Btw, I am doing this example based on the Window 7 Install. (Other versions of the OS should be the same except the INF file name may be different)**
4> I am under 64-bit so I will use W76A_INF as an example for this guide. Double click on the INF file (for W7, it is named C7_81757)
5> Scroll down the file until you see a list like;
"ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT" = ati2mtag_RV610, PCIVEN_1002&DEV_94C1&SUBSYS_0D021002 "ATI Radeon HD 2900 PRO" = ati2mtag_R600, PCIVEN_1002&DEV_9400&SUBSYS_30001002 "ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT" = ati2mtag_R600, PCIVEN_1002&DEV_9400&SUBSYS_25521002
6> Add this anywhere between the entries you see above (does not have to be exact, just place this entry somewhere along the lines of the WHOLE list) "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570" = ati2mtag_M9x, PCIVEN_1002&DEV_9553&SUBSYS_9033104D Congratulations, the display driver can now be installed ONLY VIA the HAVE DISK method.
7> Quick review on HAVE DISK method; Device Manager > Right Click ATI 4570 then Update Driver Software > Browse my computer > Let me pick a list of Device drivers... > Have Disk > (Now browse to the INF file you just edited, in this example; the C7_81757 inf file.) Install, voila, DONE.
8> Now, to get the CCC v9.2 (Can't get 9.6 yet), get Sony's ATI drivers, run it and click on CUSTOM install, NOT EXPRESS, install CCC only and anything that is mandatory (DO NOT INSTALL THEIR DISPLAY DRIVERS!!!) .Voila, CCC 9.2 function (which is the same as 9.6 essentially).
I believe this method works for NW series w/ ATI 4570 too.
I have a serious dillemma , I'm trying to install Windows 7 - 64 Bit on my 32-bit vista laptop.
I have a sony vaio fz290.
I burned the image of a 7077 build I downloaded from demonoid. Booted off of it and clicked install , and then I got an error about not having a Cd/Dvd drive device driver missing , I tried a lot of things and searched all over the internet.
A few things to ask as I'm desperate
What can I do to make this work ?
Do I have to format my comp for this to work or can I just update over the 32-bit installation
I own a Vaio FW series and I found that the Click to Disk Editor doesnt run at all as well as that the vaio update fail to update this particular application.
I have a Vaio Z690 and am using the default 174.49 Nvidia drivers which sony provides. What I am wondering is if there is a better driver I should be using then this one. I have read My discoveries on Vaio Z’s Hybrid Graphics although could someone point me in the right direction of which driver I should be using, that has been verified that will still allow me to keep all the features such as the stamina vs speed mode switch, shortcut buttons, etc with everything working 100%.
I have this "problem" since I got my Z. When I start vaio update 3 utility I get this error "messageID=0008" there are no updates for your model bla bla...
However when I go to vaio support page, there are some new updates for my Z590N model (new Bios, USB patch...)
I have downloaded new version of Viao Update utility 3.2.something but I had to uninstall my current version (3.1.something), which I did. However when I started this new setup message poped up "there is no previous version installed" - abort.
I have checked esupport page where is said if you have problems with Vaio Update 3, to download Sony Shared Library which suppose to contain vaio update utility), I run installation but it doesn't install Vaio Update 3
Now, I can live with this esupport page regular visit updates,
