View 3 RepliesI recently reinstalled windows 8.1 on my laptop as i had cloning problems with my new ssd (crucial mx100), reinstalling windows apparently solved the problem. i had problems with my display (brightness could not be adjusted) that was solved by installing intel's latest drivers using their app as device manager showed that it had the latest drivers. i only have one issue right now, the touch pad lost its multi-touch features and windows 8.1 gestures, is there anyway to fix this? i know it is probably a driver's problem but i can't really find them in device manager and if you can post the link of the drivers.
My laptop is acer V3-772G-747A8G75MAKK.
i am planning on running windows xp on my mac (dual boot); do you lose control of the fan speed? multi-touch(specifically, right click)? calibration profile?
i can't seem to find it anywhere online.

I am encountering serious problems with my Thinkpad Edge E520.
The left-mouse-click function of my UltraNav and Touchpad are not working anymore. The buttons are clicking normally, but do not have any functionality.
I am using a dual boot system with Win7 Home Premium SP1 and Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS... I did several checks:
Touchpad navigation and right-click button working properly
Touchpad left-click-button clicking properly, but no functionality
Touchpad click functionality not working
UltraNav Trackpoint and rickt-click-button working properly
UltraNav left-click-button clicking properly, but no functionality
Switching to Left-handed setup results in a properly working right-click-button with left-click function for Touchpad and UltraNav
External USB mouse working properly with Win7
External USB mouse not working properly with Ubuntu (no left-click functionality)
Fresh format and reinstall of dual boot system - problems remaining ... Since the behavious is the same with Win7 and Ubuntu and also remains after a fresh installation of both OS, I assume it is a hardware defect!?
I had an extra Lenovo T410 sitting around so I wanted to restore it to its "factory state" by performing a "format boot". Plan was to boot from CD drive and reinstall Windows 7 (32 bit) during the process. However, disaster, after the process finished I am now stuck in some sort of safe mode (everything is larger than usual) and the computer is missing several drivers. I installed the network adapter driver manually (can identify networks but can't connect to internet). Device manager still lists Base System Device, Ethernet Controller, PCI Serial Port, PCI Simple Communications Controller, and Unknown Device drivers to be out of date.
My objectives here are to
1) restore connectivity to internet and
2) get Windows 7 Home Premium to full functionality.
one sticker...ok
two stickers....it becomes catch-eye attractive!
three...it looks to a xmas tree!
for stickers.....it is not a laptot, it is a panini album!
So, am i allowed to put off the stickers (intel, vista, nvidia,bluetooth..etc) without lose my warranty at dell?
I have an HP 255 G2 Notebook PC with the product number F0Z56EA, running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
I installed the OS and the drivers for the laptop just a few days ago. Everything is running fine, except that the WLAN option is not displayed anywhere and I cannot connect the laptop to my wifi.
When I open the device manager, it shows "other devices" with a question mark and underneath "Network Controller" with a yellow exclamation mark.
I tried installing the Qualcomm network driver for my model, but during installation, the message "Device cannot be found, installation terminated" is being shown.
After 5 happy years with a fully working I9300 I NEED to upgrade to a notebook that will handle Blu-ray burning ,
HD video editing, and output to HDMI port. I am noticing that notebooks like the XPS-16 and Sony FW series have HDMI output ports but no SVideo or Composite ports (but do have VGA 'monitor'
will STILL want to output to my standard video TV or to any other screen or system with only SVideo or composite inputs.
I have an HP 10 S Notebook and I will lose wireless internet connectivity after I've been online for a while. It will show as "limited" and when I click to reconnect it shows I have no internet available. I've run the diagnostics when that has happened and it tells me there is an issue with the wireless card. I can shut the computer down and restart then it's working fine. This has been happening about once a day.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire 5920G, with the Intel 3945AGB wireless card. I've had issues with the wireless for some time, where it would suddenly lose connectivity and I would have to reboot for it to find any wireless networks. Yesterday, however, it lost connectivity again, and now is unable to connect even after several reboots.
The wifi switch is on and lights up. Acer eNet manager tells me there are no wireless networks, whereas Windows Vista's network manager tells me that I'm either a) Connected to my wireless network but with a limited connection or b) Not connected at all, but wireless networks (including my own) are available. It always fails to connect. My wireless router is a Dlink DIR-615.
I've tried inputting the WEP key again, no results. I've tried rolling back the wireless device driver (to 11.1.0.86), no results.
My husband has an identical laptop, with an identical setup, and everything works just fine for his laptop.
I did nothing out of the ordinary last night when this happened - no settings were changed, etc. The only thing I did do that I don't do every day, was that I ran the disk cleanup manager, and it cleaned out a few temp files, but I thought that this was a harmless operation...
My notebook lost the driver of PCI simple communication controller.I need to get the driver for my hp pavilion dm4-1265dx.Here's are the hardware ids.

I've tried to find the driver on the Net, but I can't find the driver.
One thing that I've always found frustrating about my Windows 7 T530 (which is nearly perfect for me in every other respect) is its apparent lack of a number pad. I use a lot of alt codes for typing non-standard characters, and these codes only work when typed through the number pad -- not through the number row near the top of the keyboard. I experimented with switching my keyboard over to the US International layout, but this broke some keyboard shortcuts that I use very often (plus it's a bit cumbersome in general) so I didn't find it to be a satisfactory solution.
Is there any way to get number pad functionality on a T530 short of attaching an external keyboard? It's a hassle to have to manually cut and paste special characters out of Character Map whenver I'm writing in languages that use accent marks. I count myself among those who wish that Lenovo had stuck with the old-style laptop keyboards rather than switching to the new chiclet ones, and this is one of the main reasons why. If I could get the number pad working on this thing then I would be overjoyed.

Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter
My network card is on the fritz, to put it simply. I randomly lose internet access, and my network connection is listed as "Limited Access". Sometimes turning off the adapter and turning it back on solves the problem, but sometimes I need to do a full reboot. My system is the only one affected, so I know its not the router. I have already viewed the similar threads and tried the methods advised with no success.
So far I have:
-Updated my drivers
-Disabled Broadcom Bluetooth service at startup
-Disabled Hybrid Sleep
-Told Windows not to shut the network card off.
I did a System Refresh last week and that's when the problem started.
I have just bought the G500 and I'm getting really annoyed by the keyboard. It has "great" multimedia keys as the main keys instead of usual F1-F12 keys. To access their functionality you must press Fn+appropriate key. The problem has been described here many times. But no solution works for G500.
I have tried: enter BIOS (no such option for keyboard)install Lenovo Slim USB Keyboard application (runs, but the option selected have no effect)install Lenovo Ultraslim Plus Wireless Keyboard & Mouse Driver application (do not run at all - just brings me to the desktop and do nothing). I'm not able to use the computer since I use a lot of application depending on the functional keys and if there is no solution I will have to buy another computer...
I've been working with this laptop for over 4 years, and now i found out that this version brings the bluetooth feature..I've downloaded the driver from dell's page and tried to install it.. the problem is, the installation tells me to press the bluetooth button to enable the bluetooth and install the driver, it gives me advices by pressing "FN + F2" i do it,, but nothing happens, i press it without FN and still nothing happens.. why do i get this problem? I've installed all the needed programs successfully but this is the only one that does nothing.. what i have to do?... i want to use the bluetooth
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy new inspiron 15 has an issue with the touchpad - the two finger scroll functionality breaks at irregular but very frequent intervals.
I'd spend 15 minutes on the computer and I'd suddenly not be able to use any multi-finger gestures on the touchpad, specifically the two-finger scroll. I've noticed that at that point, pinch zoom doesn't work either which leads me to believe it's a general issue with multi-finger gestures.
Restarting the computer always fixes it.
I can't tell if this is a hardware defect or a software issue.I've reinstalled the latest touchpad drivers from dell but it has made no difference.
I have just bought a new W540 and it's almost impossible to work with common software packages that heavily use F1-F12. Every time I want to use the F1-F12 keys, I have to press also the Fn key. For me this is a problematic change from my previous T510 machine...
Is there a way to swap the default behavior of the multimedia keys with the F1-F12 legacy keys?
I have seen some Macbook's in the past which had huge touchpads
I know it was on a 17"
If anyone has a 17" Macbook, can you tell me the dimensions of the touchpad
I am considering making an interfacing board to connect it to a USB/PS2 port for my homemade laptop.
The glass touchpad on my new MBP is a bit uneven. The surface itself is flat, but the left side sits a bit lower than the right side, as if the whole touchpad is tilted to the left. The right side is flush with the surrounding aluminum, but the left side is maybe .5mm lower. Is this normal?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis is not an "us vs. them" thread, so please, let's not do that. I'm simply curious as to whether there are any other laptops -- save for HP's Envy line, of course -- which have a large trackpad like the MBPs.
Was just thinking of how it's an arguably good idea which just isn't used as often as you'd think. IMO, of course.
On the plastic MBs, the touchpad and/or palmrest get shiny after heavy use.
Do the alum laptops have the same issue ?
Are there any alternatives that doesn't have super-sensitive tap on an MBP? Can I adjust it somehow?
