I have recently started to lose my internet connection intermitently When I go to internet connections list my network is not there and if I just wait sometimes 10 mins and sometimes an hour poof it shows up.At the same time this happens I check my phone and tablet and they are both connected to my network as well as my hp wireless printer.

I have Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 installed. I went out to Intel's website and have the most current driver.
I have a new HP Pavilion 23 Desktop, running windows 8.1. I want to make a recovery set of DVD's, and the instructions tell me to "TURN OFF THE WIRELESS CONNECTION TO THE INTERNET". How do I do this without turning off the wireless router used by other PC's in my house ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAs above I keep losing internet connection on HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC and often have to turn off to get it back. I have had the laptop for over a year now and have had this problem from day one. Often there are no connections to be seen at all. I can be on a site fine one minuete then the next it just freezes. Sometimes clicking dissconnect then reconnect will resolve the issue. But most of the time I have to switch off, leave it off for a few mins then reboot. This does not always work so I have to do it again.
As above, I have had this issue from day one. When I got it home there were no connections to be seen. I took it streight back to PC World they switched it on and connections were there. When I got home, switched on others were there but not my own. After switching off and on again mine was there. After that it was okay for a week or so then I started getting the problems I have now. My son sitting about three feet away from me on his lap top has no problems at all so I know it is the laptop and not my router. Also my wifes, my son's and my phone are on the internet through the router when this goes off. Now and then it will be okay for a couple of days but most of the time it goes off several times a day.

When I remove the ac power external internet is lost. The wireless connection still appears to be up but there is no traffic. I cannot ping anything when this occurs.
The only way to get this up and running again is to
1. insert ac power
2. restart the dhcp client service (sometimes have to do this more than once). The service hasn't stopped, but for some reason this gets it up and running.
I have also tried disabling the "allow computer to turn off this device to save power". But this did not work....

View 4 Replies View RelatedI purchased an HP ENVY dv6 Notebook from Costco today, running Windows 8, an Atheros AR9485 adapter, and connecting to a Belkin Surf N300 Wireless N Router - Model# F7D6301 v3.
My problem is, in the past 6-7 hours of usage, I've lost connection 3 separate times. The first two times was fairly brief, lasting only a few minutes. I closed out the Internet Explorer Application, and upon reopening it and attempting to connect again, worked fine. The last occurrence, however, lasted 15-20 minutes and finally resulted in me just hard wiring it in.
I'm brand new to HP computers, and Windows 8 all together, so I'm not sure where to start first. I've searched around the web, and on the forums here, but haven't found a fix.
I use the wireless router daily (hard wired) for my Xbox 360, and rarely, if ever, has issues connecting.

I keep losing WiFi connection. And yesterday I had to do a restore as WiFi completely disappeared from my computer. It just was no longer there. If happens again do I hv to restore again? What is the reason with losing/dropping WiFi connection.
I own an HP Envy dv6 Notebook PC, MOdel No.2CE243OCYT. It has an Atheros AR9485 802.11 b:g:n WiFi adapter. There is an HP update for that adapter, but when I updated it, I was unable to connect to the internet. I realize that this WiFi adapter is only for 2.5G. I had to refresh my laptop, then I had internet access again. I have not tried that driver update again, but TWC just updated my Cable modem to dual band using the 2.5G and 5G bands.I am afraid to install the Atheros update in my lapotop again because I don't want to go though the hassle of re-installing all my software pd[rograms again.Is there a dual band WiFi adapter that HP recommends, and is it easy to install?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI upgraded the operating system on my HP Envy dv-7-7240 laptop today from Windows 8 to 8.1 (64 bit), which included Explorer 11. It went pretty much as planned and everything was working fine except my web speeds slowed down to a crawl. I disabled all the add-ons, and reset explorer, but that didn't work.
Note: I was experiencing slow internet (I'm on cable by the way) and a couple of other issues that I couldn't get resolved, the main reason I upgraded to 8.1. It resolved all of the problems except for the slow internet.
I just got a brand new HP Envy. However, i have not been able to maintain a wifi connection. Usually it will not connect to my wifi or will only connect for a few minutes and then say 'limited' and then not connect at all. I did the full windows updates for the computer. I updated the drivers for the wifi adapter. I updated the firmware to my router. I also uninstalled norton. None of these have worked, still will not connect or will connect and drop within a few minutes. My system information is as follows:

I have two ipads, two iphones, an xbox, a windows phone, two toshiba laptops, and one hp pavillion DM3 that are able to connect and maintain wifi connection with no problem (not all connected at the some time necessarily-it is not an overloading problem). The network is running fine, i just cannot figure out what the problem is with this HP Envy.
I just got my new HP ENVY laptop. Product Name: m6-k025dx. It runs on Windows 8 64-bit. I am experiencing sudden, frequent loss of my Wifi connection. When it gets disconnected I don't even get the Connect To slider (which slides from the right side of the screen and shows the list of networks) on clicking the network button at bottom right corner of the screen. I need to restart my laptop to get connected again and after 5-7 minutes, I lose it again.
editing the Power Plan to maximum performance and unchecking "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" but nothing seems to work.

I have an HP Envy 17-j053ea Notebook running Windows 8.1 64bit. It has an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 network adapter. I am guessing from other posts that this adapter can't handle Windows 8.1 which is why I am continuously losing my wifi connection (other devices not running Windows 8.1 are fine). View 4 Replies View RelatedThe Wifi on this laptop keeps either dropping connection, or changing to a "limited" network. Sometimes it works fine, but more often than not it drops out. All other wifi enabled devices in my house work fine, so I know it's not the internet. I've also tested on two other networks where the same dropping out occurs.

My network card is on the fritz, to put it simply. I randomly lose internet access, and my network connection is listed as "Limited Access". Sometimes turning off the adapter and turning it back on solves the problem, but sometimes I need to do a full reboot. My system is the only one affected, so I know its not the router. I have already viewed the similar threads and tried the methods advised with no success.
So far I have:
-Updated my drivers
-Disabled Broadcom Bluetooth service at startup
-Disabled Hybrid Sleep
-Told Windows not to shut the network card off.
I did a System Refresh last week and that's when the problem started.
I have an HP 10 S Notebook and I will lose wireless internet connectivity after I've been online for a while. It will show as "limited" and when I click to reconnect it shows I have no internet available. I've run the diagnostics when that has happened and it tells me there is an issue with the wireless card. I can shut the computer down and restart then it's working fine. This has been happening about once a day.

The laptop is a Acer 5520-5912 running Vista Home Edition.
I am trying to figure out some issues with my father's new laptop when connecting to the internet. There was a problem with finding wireless networks which was attributed to a problem with the wireless network card driver. I deleted the driver, figuring I would just connect to the wired network only to find that the laptop will not see my lan connection.
I tested the lan connection in my laptop and it worked great.
When I go into the network connections it shows 1 broadband connection that is disconnected through something called a WAN Miniport (PPPOE). I have no idea what this Miniport is, and when I try to connect, it does not connect.
The second connection shown is the Local Area Connection (LAN), and it says the network cable is unplugged.
I have been having this problem for a long time now and a friend pointed me here to beg for some advice. My internet connection works fine for general browsing purposes and i have a good quality of signal strength where i usually use it.
The problem is, every time i run a game such as Football Manager or World of Warcraft my internet connection will be lost. This can happen as soon as 5 minuites after starting the game or can take up to an hour, but without fail it will happen. After this disconnection my wireless adaptor is still shown as being turned on however i am unable to detect any networks in range. The problem is not solved by turning the adaptor on and off and i am forced to restart the system.
I'm not sure what the cause of the problem might be, CPU and memory usage looks normal. I was wondering if perhaps overheating could cause issues like this? My laptop is generally quite warm but with the graphics card coming into play as well... I tested the internet connection whilst connected to world of warcraft but keeping the game minimised and i was not disconnected. I also installed Speedfan to monitor my core temperature and it measures at 55C idle, but after one minuite of switching to and playing the game this rose to around 75C. Not sure if i should include anything else sorry if i overloaded this a little but not very good with computers so wasn't sure what info i should include.

I cant get a connection on my laptop. It says that the connection is turned off, but I have no way of turning it back on! I have tried installing the drivers on the Dell website by entering my specific security tag, but they say they aren't compatible. I have even gone as far as to restore it to factory settings and nothing still.

I have read that numerous other people have experienced this problem but I have not found a solution that works. I have tried updating the driver and changing the battery power settings etc. I have spent ages transferring all my files accross so am reluctant to have to send it back now.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HP G71-449WM HP notebook. It was all messed up and wouldn't let me restore to an earlier point at all so I reset it to the factory settings. I didn't make a back up because there was nothing I wanted to save. I am unable to connect to the internet now, wirelessly or by hooking up to an ethernet cable. It gets an error while going through the initial set up where you set your password for the pc, the time, etc. when it gets to the spot for connecting to the internet it gets an error, freezes up. I turn it off and turn it back on and it just loads like a normal computer, but can't connect to the internet no matter what. I've reset it to the factory settings about 5 times in the last 3 days and am getting the same problem each time. I have no recovery disks or anything.
