The Wifi on this laptop keeps either dropping connection, or changing to a "limited" network. Sometimes it works fine, but more often than not it drops out. All other wifi enabled devices in my house work fine, so I know it's not the internet. I've also tested on two other networks where the same dropping out occurs.

I just got my new HP ENVY laptop. Product Name: m6-k025dx. It runs on Windows 8 64-bit. I am experiencing sudden, frequent loss of my Wifi connection. When it gets disconnected I don't even get the Connect To slider (which slides from the right side of the screen and shows the list of networks) on clicking the network button at bottom right corner of the screen. I need to restart my laptop to get connected again and after 5-7 minutes, I lose it again.
editing the Power Plan to maximum performance and unchecking "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" but nothing seems to work.
The network driver is Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230. I have also updated the driver and turned off Bluetooth and ethernet
I've had an HP Laptop Pavilion g6 for around a year, operating on Windows 8.1
I'm repreatedly (and increasingly) losing wifi connection to router - all other devices using the same wifi connection (desktop pc, nexus phone, samsung phone) all retain connection and internet access but the Pavilion keeps dropping off.
I am using an HP Envy dv7-7250us laptop, running windows 8.1. All my software is up to date. In the last month, every time i turn on the laptop, the internet connection drops. Running HP troubleshooter resets the wifi adaptor.
I have Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 installed. I went out to Intel's website and have the most current driver.

I have a HP ENVY TouchSmart M7-J010DX Laptop with Core i7 Haswell CPU and Intel Centrino Wireless N-2230 card. Product number is E0K83UAR and I'm running Windows 8.1 OS. Lately, I've experienced many occasions when the laptop fails to connect to a wireless network when other PCs in the same room connect. I should say it mostly connects, but with "limited connectivity" and no Internet access. I've been trying to use a Logitech ultrathin touch bluetooth mouse and microsoft sculpt mobile bluetooth keyboard with my ideapad. I'm running Windows 8.1. Both work fine for a while but then it appears they lose the bluetooth connection. This seems to often coincide with access network/internet over WiFi. The only solution is to call up the Bluetooth manage devices setting and let it reconnect. If I leave the manage bluetooth device page open on a second screen it works, but clearly its not ideal!
I was running the Lenovo driver for Bluetooth but I've tried removing it and using the Generic Windows driver. So far though the same happened after a short while.

I have tried few drivers and windows update but it doesn't seem to work for me.
I just bought a new hp zbook 15 that comes with FreeDos and I bought Win7 Home Premium SP1. I installed the windows and it works until i try to connect to the internet. My problem is, in the past 6-7 hours of usage, I've lost connection 3 separate times. The first two times was fairly brief, lasting only a few minutes. I closed out the Internet Explorer Application, and upon reopening it and attempting to connect again, worked fine. The last occurrence, however, lasted 15-20 minutes and finally resulted in me just hard wiring it in.

Usually it will not connect to my wifi or will only connect for a few minutes and then say 'limited' and then not connect at all. I did the full windows updates for the computer. I updated the drivers for the wifi adapter. I updated the firmware to my router. I also uninstalled norton. I have two ipads, two iphones, an xbox, a windows phone, two toshiba laptops, and one hp pavillion DM3 that are able to connect and maintain wifi connection with no problem (not all connected at the some time necessarily-it is not an overloading problem). The network is running fine, i just cannot figure out what the problem is with this HP Envy.
I have an HP Envy 17-j053ea Notebook running Windows 8.1 64bit. It has an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 network adapter. I am guessing from other posts that this adapter can't handle Windows 8.1 which is why I am continuously losing my wifi connection (other devices not running Windows 8.1 are fine). View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a HP Envy Touchsmart notebook. Model number is 15-j057cl. It had a serious hard drive crash, and I'm in the process of reloading it using the USB recovery stick from HP since there's no CD/DVD drive. Running Windows 8.
All the drivers are loaded. I've got internet connectivity via a wireless network, but not via the wired one. All other PCs in my office are working just fine, both wired and wireless. The wired network shows up as an unidentified network, and is a public network. I've hunted all over Microsoft and HP to figure out how to get it connected, identified, and classified as a private network. I've got link lights on both the notebook and the network switch. I've switched the Cat5e cable with a good one I'm using on another PC, and still have the issue.
The Realtek PCIe GBE wired NIC is not getting DNS information, as it keeps coming up with the default Microsoft IP of 169.254.64.151.
I've downgrade my pc from windows 8 to windows 7 professional 64 bit. I found all the drivers except the one which controls wifi. I need that driver so my pc can recognize the wireless card..
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am getting intermittently dropped wifi connection. It is a new/nearly new xps 12 convertible from the Dell outlet store a couple of months ago. I have installed all windows updates including win 8.1. My network adapter is an Intel Dual band wireless AC-7260 #2. I searched on the intel site using the auto driver function and it cannot find any new drivers there for it.
I have also set the wifi adapter to "maximum performance" whether on battery or plugged in and it happens anyway (even when plugged into AC).Is there anything I can do for this or does a technician need to replace the wifi card (or do I need to RMA the notebook)?
I just received a dual band Time Warner Cable router that I want to wirelessly connect with my HP Pavilion dv6t-6c00 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC that I had for 2 and a half years now. The laptop has no trouble seeing and connecting to the 2.4 Ghz band, but does not even see 5Ghz. I tried playing around with the router settings, but had no luck this far. I believe that it should be able to see it, but I'm not 100% sure. Whether I need to update my drivers or anything for it to be able to connect to 5G? Or perhaps purchase a new network card or adapter? Or am I out of luck connecting it to 5G?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy daughter has a HP Split 13-m111sa x2 notebook/tablet. She got it in March of this yearand it is currently running Win 8.1 OS with updates applied.
The problem/symptoms are this: - The WiFi connection she uses both at home and school is dropping after about 5 mins after connection. It is happening with different WiFi connections both secure and open requiring login (eg BT WiFi hot spots).
Steps/action taken so far:-
Removed known networks and re-joined
Performed IPCONFIG /flush on device
Provided static IP address to WiFi at home, different to the one supplied by the router but in the same range.
My laptop constantly loses connection to my wireless router and I'm forced to use the windows troubleshooting tool to hook up again. This can happen over and over again multiple times over the course of an hour or so. I'm using an Xfinity wireless router and have several other devices hooked up to it wirelessly that do not drop connection. These include iPhones, iPod touch, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Mac notebook. And no, they are not all accessing the wireless at the same time. I've reinstalled/updated the drivers, adjusted my power saving settings, restored the system to its factory settings -- basically everything on the troubleshooting list.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled Vista 64-bit Business on my laptop. And I've installed all of the drivers which are working, but my wifi drops out every 20-30 minutes. I've done some research and found this isn't uncommon...
so I installed the lastest Intel drivers, disabled all of the power saving features on my wifi card/DCP.
But, it still disconnects! What the heck!? I might have had this same issue in Windows 7, but I can't really remember. All I know is that when I tried to back it up using WHS, it would always fail.
