Why is it that almost 3 months after the launch on Windows 8, the driver having compatibility with the windows 8 gestures have still not been launched in the Dell US site? It is present in the netherlands site of Dell, but I cannot ge the left edge swipe (to switch between programs) and the 4 finger swipe (to bring up the instant viewer or desktop) to work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to do a restore on my laptop but when i try to install windows 7 it ask for the driver files. (To install the device driver needed to access your hard drive, insert the installation media containing the driver files and then click okay.) My laptop came with the restore disk but it worked only the first time i had to do a restore. 2nd time i had my mother download a driver on to her flash drive and it worked but recently she lost the flash drive and now we can't find the same driver that worked before.

I own a Dell XPS L502x. For the past couple of months, if I reboot or close the laptop lid, the touchpad is automatically disabled and I have to enable it to use it again. It never used to do this. Is there a way to shut off or 'disable' this automatic disabling action?

I just bought a new notebook HP 650 and I tried to download the Synaptics Touchpad Driver for Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit from your driver support website, but I wouldn't be able to download it - it wont begin automatically download the driver but instead it jump to different HP support page with language selection...
This model has touchpad with a little dump in upper-left corner, that should be a on/off switch, also there is a led diod indicator - but it didnt work now.

I'm using windows 8.1 and my Touchpad doesn't recognize Elantech driver.

I recently bought a 5550 wwan card ( Ericsson F5521gw 2XGNJ) for which i tried installing dell wireless 5550 driver. it was not successful and i got the message saying authentication failed and no compatible device detected!
Windows device manager identifies the card as "unknown device F5521gw" which probably means that the hardware is installed properly.
I have tried installing this [URL] .... driver multiple times and every single time i got a message saying "Driver installation failed. No compatible Dell Wireless HSPA Mini-Card has been found on this computer. Please insert hardware and restart the driver installation.
I am currently using a Dell XPS L502x, and more and more often I am getting a blue screen of death. I reinstalled all the drivers for my Nvidia Geforce GT540m but that didn't solve anything.

Battery backup was around 2.5 to hours on normal use and 1.5-2 hours if I used to hear song or watch movie. But after I have installed windows 8 the heating problem has started, battery backup has dropped. It gives around 50 minutes on hearing songs and around 30 minutes on watching movies and around 1.5 hours on normal use.

+This has bugged me for a long time. Every time my laptop goes into sleep mode and the screen turns off the cpu fan turns on. It hits 100%.
I had been using my DVD/Bluray drive but after a reinstall of windows 7 I am not able to access the DVD / Bluray drive. or rather I am able to access it after re-installing the driver and then after I take out the disk in the drive again the drive becomes unrecongnizeable
I reinstalled the firmware PLDS DS-6E2SH 12.7 Tray BD-Combo Firmware Update(SE2_CD11.zip ) from Dell support site but this did not work.
The only way I can get it to work is by uninstalling the device, rebooting and when it starts up again, it reinstall the driver and the drive works. A thing to note is that this also does not work every time.
I am selling my (almost) new Dell XPS L502x laptop. How do I delete all my personal information while leaving Windows 7 etc intact?

I tried it on my E6400, and it updated to the newer drivers without issue. I am definitely noticing a diffference in the touchpad.

I just installed it again (first time didn't work!) and it works now on my M1530.. and I must say its pretty awesome.. touchpad feels better than before, the scrolling functions are working fine and also the left vertical zoom in and zoom out settings.

I went on dells website and couldn't find the studio 14z drivers.
I heard the studio 14z supports multitouch. Also it has the same touchpad as my toshiba. Currently I'm using a dell driver for my touchpad.
But I would like multitouch, so I hope to find the studio 14z driver.
Or any other dell driver that supports multitouch and is for the alps touchpad.
Does anyone know what the most modern DELL system is that has the best Alps driver support for features such as tapping and scrolling?
The drivers I have for my Alps touchpad from another manufacturer do not have any support for things such as Browser back-button or continuous scrolling (by leaving your finger at the edge of the touchpad after moving across it).
I have had this problem for a while. I used to have Vista installed on my 1420, it had taken me a long time to find a 64bit driver for the ALPS touchpad that featured middle click (when you click both buttons, it registers as a middle click).
Now, I am on Windows 7, all Vista 64 bit drivers for the ALPS work with Windows 7, but I am having trouble finding the driver that I had used with Vista64 that allowed me to use middle click.
I have searched on Dell's driver page and literally installed almost every driver they have for ALPS touchpads. Almost all of them have the ability to use the feature middle click, but they never work. I was wondering if there are any 1420 owners out there that have, or know where one could find a 64 bit driver that allows me to use middle click?
I've had problems with my M4400's Alps touchpad sporadically freezing/locking up, ever since I received it a week ago. I saw the same problems in Windows XP, Vista, and in Windows 7. I did some searching around and found others also reporting problems. I was about ready to return my laptop (instead of submitting to a potential troubleshooting quagmire), but I found one suggestion that seemed worth trying.
I removed the Dell touchpad drivers (Driver Version: 7.2.101.216, Driver Date: 12/21/2008) and installed one from Toshiba's web site (Driver Version: 7.2.303.107, Driver Date: 9/19/2008). After installing the Toshiba driver, I disabled all of the touchpad "extras", including browser support, scrolling, tapping, and inertial movement. It seems to have lessened the sporadic freezing (the jury is still out on whether it improved the input lag). I have had one freezing/tracking problem since installing the Toshiba driver, but overall it seems improved over the Dell driver. I'd be very interested in knowing if it helps anyone else also having problems with their touchpad freezing up.
My touchpad driver keeps disappearing and its the only way I can disable the touchpad - I much prefer to use the mouse and I am a touch typist so the touchpad is a nuisance. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to find a win 8 touchpad driver or other way of disabling the touchpad - win 8 even on a standard laptop is magic and has improved my older laptop no end but its now annoying me due the limitation of drivers and the fact that the only way one can disable the pad is via the driver settings?

I have lost the scroll capability. Dell support says they haven't written a replacement driver and aren't sure that they ever will.

I need a driver that will allow me to edge scroll, that is using one finger on the far right of the touchpad for scrolling. Bonus points if the driver allows "momentum" and doesn't mess up other stuff.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs the title says, there is no driver available for the keyboard/touchpad on this laptop. There is no way to adjust the current touchpad settings. I've followed all the troubleshooting steps for Windows 8.1, but this model simply lacks a Dell Touchpad interface or any settings to change gestures or scrolling speeds and sensitivity. None of the usual gestures even work, not even pinch-zoom.
This wouldn't be a big deal if there were a driver available to fix the issue, but there isn't - this model does not have a input driver available at all. All that is provided is an ancient Mouse Properties thing that seems designed for a wired mouse and some ETDWare SmartTouch thing that does nothing at all as far as I can tell. The literature for this model claims that the laptop has " a roomy, gesture-enabled precision touchpad, [which can] zoom, click and point with impressive accuracy and speed." Well the gestures consist of two finger scrolling and nothing else, and there is no zoom, not to mention any other gestures, and accuracy and speed tend to rely on users tweaking things to their own unique preferences (impossible as it is).
All this is to say, is Dell working on getting an input driver for this model? Is there an update in the works? Is there some other method available to remedy this unfortunate failing of an otherwise pretty nice machine? If I don't hear back in a week or so, I'm just going to return this and buy a different brand.
I recently bought a nice HP 250 G3 (code: J4R70EA). I'm quite sattisfied with my purchase (even if there was a dead pixel that now I fixed). I also managed to install and find all the drivers (since it came with FreeDOS), except for the touchpad driver. The touchpad works but all the useful gestures are missing.
find the latest updated driver for my touchpad so that I can use gestures efficiently? I have a Windows 7 32bit OS. HP only provides 64bit drivers for my laptop. I'd like to keep the 32bit.
a new IDT audio driver to test ! It seems to me the slight pop when changing song in WMP12 is gone but I'm not too sure. I just downloaded it and might need more people to test it out to see if it fixes the crackling/popping sound.

With this 2-finger-gesture tool, our touchpad is exactly like MAC ! (no four fingers yet though) And now, you can double tap like mac multitouch to initiate secondary menu !

I recently installed Windows 8, and I am trying to get the latest Dell drivers for Windows 8. I can download the Alps_Touchpad_W8_X02_A01_Setup-CXWXW_ZPE driver, but when running the exe it fails to extract the files. All I get is in the extracted C:DellDriversCXWXW folder is a Version.txt file. There is a popup that then asks if I would like to run in compatibility mode, but doing that does not work either. Also, running as administrator does not work.
