Dell Latitude E6410 :: No Longer Able To Use Touchpad
Jan 16, 2013My Latitude E6410 Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit machine crashed yesterday and when it came back up I was no longer able to use the touch-pad buttons below the touchpad, or the middle button above the touchpad. The pointer stick, along with the right and left button above the touchpad are still working properly.
I have tried reinstalled the ALPS driver and the Dell touchpad software.When I open the touchpad software it shows the touchpad as being enabled but it does not show any configuration for the pointer stick or buttons above the touchpad. what driver or application I need to install to get my touchpad and buttons operational again?

Nov 2, 2013I just bought a new notebook HP 650 and I tried to download the Synaptics Touchpad Driver for Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit from your driver support website, but I wouldn't be able to download it - it wont begin automatically download the driver but instead it jump to different HP support page with language selection...
This model has touchpad with a little dump in upper-left corner, that should be a on/off switch, also there is a led diod indicator - but it didnt work now.
So I'm asking you, where can I download this driver for my win7?

Dec 8, 2009a new IDT audio driver to test ! It seems to me the slight pop when changing song in WMP12 is gone but I'm not too sure. I just downloaded it and might need more people to test it out to see if it fixes the crackling/popping sound.

Dell XPS L502X :: Synaptic Touchpad Drivers For Win 8 Pro?

I cannot find those in the official dell drivers download page.
Without those drivers, my touch is not double touch to scroll up/down.

Mar 10, 2010I just upgraded my D630 from 32bit Vista to 64 bit Windows 7 (wiped the Vista off and clean install of 7). It's working very well, but the touchpad isn't fully functional. I have lost the scroll capability. Dell support says they haven't written a replacement driver and aren't sure that they ever will.

Jan 29, 2012I have been using a Dell Studio 1558. However, for the last 2 days, my Dell touch-pad has not been working. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers. I have taken the drivers from the driver disks that came with my laptop as well as the drivers from the dell website.
I have also tried using system restore to roll back to a time much before the problem had started to appear. This has not resolved the problem as the touch-pad is still not working.
On checking in the Device Manager, the device is not normally visible. when all hidden devices are seen, the Dell Touch-pad icon appears with a yellow exclamation mark.
The error code shown is "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)"
I have tried to update the driver from the device properties, but i get a message that the latest driver is already installed.
I am unable to diagnose the problem.

Mar 9, 2010dv6000 touchpad not recognized by driver. Also blue led always on and not effected by pushing on/off button. Had replaced motherboard due to failure just before this. All else works fine including usb mouse.

When I try to enter mouse options in control panel, I get the error "Unable to connect to synaptics pointing device driver'. Tried reinstalling the driver, rebooting, etc. How do I fix it?

Jul 9, 2010My computer is the dell 1747 Studio Laptop running Windows 7 Professional. It has the built-in Synaptics Touch Pad. When you drag your finger on the far right side of the pa, it auto scrolls through the document on the screen.
I use my Laptop almost exclusively with a remote desktop connection. I process large documents (some as many as 200 pages). If I accidentally drag my hand or finger up or down on the left side of the touch pad, it begins to scroll. Since it is a remote desktop connection, it will not stop scrolling until it reaches the end of the document either up or down. I have to sit and wait for it to finish scrolling before I can use the computer again.
I would like to know how to turn OFF auto scrolling on the touch pad. There is a "wheel" setting in the device setup menu but you can only turn it down to "1" not "zero".

Mar 18, 2008I've got a Aspire 5315 which I configured for my brother in law by removing Vista and replacing with XP (SP2).
Everything is peachy, it is a great computer for the price (got it at W*M) except for some reason I can't get customization features on the synaptics touchpad.
I've got the latest drivers installed for XP (x32) - which is 10.8.10 I think... but the menu isn't there to customize things like, disabling tapping on the touchpad. I noticed on the synaptics download page it says:
Note: Installing a generic driver can result in the loss of customized Synaptics pointing device functionality.
is there a way to get a non-generic driver? any help would be appreciated.
oh and someone mentioned flashing the BIOS, is that safe? would I need to do that before this problem can be fixed? is the touchpad issue related to the BIOS? how do I know if it is already up to date?

Jan 31, 2015I have successfully installed Ubuntu on my Aspire E3 112 and after a bit of fannying around with setting a System Password in the BIOS and trusting the Grub2 EFI settings, I have a stable system that boots in to both Ubuntu and Windows 8.1 with Bing.
BUT , The right click doesn't work on the Synaptic Touchpad. No matter where I click on the touchpad it is recognised as a left click.
I've tried installing the GPointing Device Setting but there aren't any config settings for right click.
I've heard that Synaptics have a product (Synaptics Gesture Suite for Linux - SGS-L) but it's only available to OEM suppliers.

Aug 28, 2014I have a recently gotten my Lenovo g510, with a synaptics touchpad. My problem is that when I write, I can't move my pointer at the same time. It's like when I type my touchpad gets disabled, and when I stop the typing it enables again. I've seen some places that it's just to turn of/on palmcheck? But I can't find it in my settings. It looks like my menu is more up to date than the others, and therefore they have more detailed menus, but mine is pretty simple.
I will add a picture of my menu, when I go to my mouse settings, and then the settings for the synaptics.

Jan 11, 2014HP Split 13 X2 Ultrabook - Windows 8.1 (64 Bit) I have an HP Split x2 Ultrabook that I purchased a month or so ago.
I upgraded to Windows 8.1 recently. I have noticed that my touchpad freezes and my cursor no longer works, no matter how many times I click or try to revive it. If I then start using the touch screen, the cursor disappears altogether and does not come back. This happens completely randomly - sometimes every couple of hours, other times more than once an hour. It has nothing to do with how many programs I have open or how often I am using it.
I go to Device Manager to check the mouse/pointer, and it says the device is working correctly. It also says all available updates have been installed. Most of the times I have to shut my computer and wait for about 30 seconds before opening it, and then the mouse will reappear. But the problem surfaces again after sometime...I am fedup with restarting my laptop everytime.

Dell Latitude E6410 :: Could Not Drive VGA Splitter
Mar 18, 2013Does the Latitude E6410 have a weak or a time critical signaling on the VGA port? The other day I had to replace my Latitude with a backup laptop as it was unable to drive a VGA splitter feeding three projectors. There was no problems in driving at single projector though. The other LG laptop E500 had no problems in running exactly the same presentation on all three projectors through the splitter.
The rather surprising thing was that as long as my power point presentation were display in edit mode, it worked fine whereas in show mode all of the connected projectors went blank. I tried to exercise the Fn F8 with no change.Would a VGA amplifier do the trick?
Dell Latitude E6410 :: Cannot Keep Hard Drive
Dec 9, 2014My company has offered to give to me my Latitude e6410. However, I cannot keep the hard drive. It has to be destroyed per policy. I am able to pull off recovery information and build my own image. One more concern is that the current hard drive is encrypted with Symantec Endpoint Encryption (SEE). Therefore, I do not want to simply clone the drive as I do not want no cannot use that image.
Also, if I need to reinstall my own image of Win 7 from new disks, will this e641 run 64bit. Currently the OS is WIn7 Pro.What about the recovery partition? I already have a spare 5ooGB 7200rpm 2.5" disk and i have a lot of hardware experience so I have no concerns about the actual disk replacement. It's just the image.
Dell Latitude E6410 :: Intermittent USB On One Device
Jan 20, 2015I have one device, a 3DRobotics PixHawk autopilot, which connects intermittently via USB to my E6410. All other USB devices, flash drives, cameras, wireless rcvr etc. always work fine. This one device does not. It only connects occasionally and usually does not. The failures issued by the device vary.
If I hook the device to my Asus X53U, it connects every time. The Asus is extremely slow and I really need to reliably connect to the Dell.
Note: The E6410 contains an upgrade to an i7 720QM quad processor.

Oct 14, 2010We image all our new systems in our organizations on SCCM. I've got one that is a puzzler. I will not get an ip from the server. Instead it displays the message "PXE-E51:No DHCP or proxyDHCP offers were received." No other computer has this issue. I does not get as far as the network boot so it is not a windows deployment service issue. And it senses if the cable is disconnected, and gives you a different PXE error. I have flashed the BIOS, no sucess. I RMA'd the motherboard, and no difference. Dell won't replace the whole system since it was a replacement for another DOA. I thought it might be that little daughter card that contains the NIC connection, but cannot see that listed on the dispatch site as a seperate part.

Dell Latitude E6410 :: Don't Know BIOS Admin Password
Nov 13, 2014I bought aDell Latitude E6410 laptop yesterday and every time it turns on it says no boot or something. So I push the enter button and it resets. Then when it shows the dell logo again I press F12 and go to the boot sequence and its set on cd drive and not the internal HDD. So I choose to redo that all over again and then press boot from internal HDD and it works no problem but its a lot to go through just to start a laptop. How can I figure out how to change the admin password so I can set the boot sequence right.

Mar 17, 2011I have a Latitude E6410 with SD card reader. I can see the card reader in device management but the sd card will not apper as a drive in Windows 7. I tried the sd card on a colleagues laptop (exactly same spec and OS installation) and it works instantly.
