I own a Dell XPS L502x. For the past couple of months, if I reboot or close the laptop lid, the touchpad is automatically disabled and I have to enable it to use it again. It never used to do this. Is there a way to shut off or 'disable' this automatic disabling action?
View 5 RepliesI am just finding it annoying that while I'm in the middle of working on my laptop, it just starts to sleep. I then have to furiously move the track pad around to get it to turn back on. It does this randomly and I'm not sure what's wrong what it. My computer has been fine since I bought it.

I installed SpeedFan to check it and see whether it is abnormally high. Sometimes it reaches about 80-90 degrees on the 4 cores and the hard disk. Slightly before it started shutting down, the fan became very loud and it switches on and off continuously. So I don't know where the problem started.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am using Dell XPS 15 L502x model from past 18 months. Suddenly I noticed mu battery indicator is blinking in orange and white color while it was charging. So just opened More Power options and found that "Battery is temporarily disabled" message. So shut down my device and opened the battery and again insert it. Then I try to switch on my device and found that battery is temporarily disabled due to high temperature but it was in normal room temperature.
So I start observing the issue and found that while the device charging level reached to 98 -99 %, it starts blinking. if I turned off battery charging then when it reached to 94-92 % level it start behaving as a normal condition and also blinking is stopped. The device has a 9 cell battery in it and still I'm getting more than 4 hours of back up in normal working load.
I have a Dell Latitude E7240. My issue is that when it is connected to the D/Dock station, the rear USB ports are automatically disabled.
Is there a way to have them enabled while docked?
Why is it that almost 3 months after the launch on Windows 8, the driver having compatibility with the windows 8 gestures have still not been launched in the Dell US site? It is present in the netherlands site of Dell, but I cannot ge the left edge swipe (to switch between programs) and the 4 finger swipe (to bring up the instant viewer or desktop) to work.

I cannot find those in the official dell drivers download page.
Without those drivers, my touch is not double touch to scroll up/down.
I have a brand new Edge E531 that I have upgraded to Win 8.1. I am trying desperately to learn to use the TouchPad, and by tweaking the various settings I am able to get it to work ok.
Except for one thing: sometimes, it seems that the TouchPad will automatically perform the default action in a dialog box or click a button automatically.
I have gone through all the settings and see nothing related to this.
Is this known behavior? Can it be prevented?, I know I can disable the TouchPad and only use TrackPoint, but since Lenovo no longer has separate right and left mouse buttons, I find it hard to use.
The "Disable touchpad when external mouse is connected" button is not on my Settings menu for the touchpad.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIve had the laptop about two weeks and honestly, do not know how this happened, but the keyboard on the laptop stopped working 2 days ago. A USB keyboard does not work either. The on screen keyboard is the only way to use this laptop now. Steps I have taken to resolve the issue that have not worked are
1. unplugging of all peripherals, powered it off, disconnected the power cord and removed the battery and let it sit for a minute, then powered it back up with no peripherals and nothing, no change.
2. system refresh did nothing to bring the keyboard back.
3. uninstalled keyboards in device manager and rebooted to nothing from the keyboard.
It seems odd that the on screen keyboard is the only keyboard option that works, does the onscreen keyboard have an override that prevents any other type of keyboard from working while it is enabled? i get the vibe that the use of the onscreen keyboard is at the root of this issue, and the touchpad mouse has remained functional, its just the keyboard
When I disabled the touch-pad (by Fn+F3) the touch-pad is disabled but the orange light indicator doesn't work...It worked before very well I don't know what is the problem? I uninstalled and reinstalled the touch-pad driver again but there is no change..I'm working on win 8 64 bit
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new Thinkpad T430 and I have an issue with the touchpad. My touchpad is disabled while holding a key on the keyboard which is extremely frustrating. If I hold down a key then my pointer will move a short distance before stopping and becoming unable to move any further until I release the key. I've learned that this feature is know as the palmcheck feature of the ultranav drivers. However, in the settings for my touchpad, there is no palmcheck setting. The feature seems to simply be on with no option to turn it off. I have updated to the latest drivers, but still there seems to be nothing I can do to fix this issue.

Before i open the session the touchpad works fine, but not at all when the session is open.
I have three user profiles in my Compaq Presario CQ-42, one is administrator and others are "Other User". When I fisrt saw the synaptics touch pad settings window through my first "Other User" profile 1, in Mouse Properties->Device Settings->Synaptics LuxPad V7.4->Settings, all the options in this window were available for selection and no one was diabled. Now when I go to "Administrator" Profile, Some of the options in this settings window are disabled and appear to be partly hidden. Like the option "Enable Pinch Zoom in Pinch Zoom section" and "Enable Pivot Rotate in Rotating" appears to be hidden/disabled.
For verifying this, I created the another "Other user" profile 2 but no success and I found the same problem here also. I also tried to unistall the synaptics driver several times from all the profiles but every time I re-installed them and checked to get the same result. The settings were only accessible for "Other User" Profile 1 each time and were disable for Administrator profile and "Other User" Profile 2. I can produce the snaps of same if required.
HP 2000-2d13ca system disabled, asked for asministrator password and after failed attempts has disabled system with code '75669971'.

I have it configured so that it will first go into sleep mode after being idle or closing the lid and then go into..............................
XPS 13.... I am using an Apple Time Capsule/Airport as router, but it happens with all wi-fi connections. I have not changed any settings, and the network is saved and set to auto-connect. It does not though. I have to manually select and click connect, then it eventually does.

Whenever I turn on the laptop it will work about 10 minutes and then turns off "boom!" and as I restart will work for 7-8 minutes and again turns off. I have been having an issue for a while that the computer automatically resumes from standby at seemingly random times. As of late, it is also staying on indefinitely (or until a low battery event at least), despite my settings in Power Options that specify standby after a given amount of time.
This happens when it is plugged in or not, and is (of course) particularly annoying when it is unplugged and in a case that isn't ventilated.
I have checked the system and application event logs, and don't see the kernel-power event when the system resumed, but I don't see any information on why it did so.
Also worth noting: I checked my LAN and WIFI adapter power management settings, and the "allow this device to wake the computer" box is greyed out.
specifically what hardware or software is causing a resume event? Do you know how to ensure that the computer sleeps after a specified period of time when on battery?
i have dell N5010 laptop.it shuts down automatically whenever i restart the windows.i can't even install any new operating system as it turns off automatically.i am sure that it is not due to heat. but after 20 minutes it becomes normal..my laptop configuration:

PRECISION T3600 restarts automatically while using the workstation. We replaced mother board, graphic card and hard drive but still issue is same.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have dell studio 1555 laptop with processor Intel core 2 duo t6600 and ram 3 gb with video memory ati radeon 4570(512 mb) running windows 8.1 x64.I uses my laptop to download movies so it runs almost 24 hrs a day recently when i got back from my work laptop was turned off (no power outage was occurred at that time) when i tried to turn on the laptop it starts to produce continuous beep sounds(and no display) after some trial and error i found out that charging adapter was the culprit if it is connected laptop won't turn on and continuous beeps sounds occurs , but if you start the laptop without the adapter and then connect the adapter back on then no problem.
And the event viewer has under the critical error section an error named Kernel power(event id 41)(The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.)
And I will list some of the errors in the event viewer here kernel event tracing(Session "" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000011),ACPI(: The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. i bought my dell xps L502X last june but recently my battery is giving me problems. sometimes when i connect my charger i get the following pop up. The AC power adapter type cannot be determined.Your system will operate slower and battery will not charge.
Ensure the plug is inserted completely for best system operation.Connect a Dell 130W AC adapter or higher.I've never used the battery badly. I always charge it to a 100% and then disconnect the charger and use the charge down to 7% until it asks me to plug in the charger. I keep disconnecting and reconnecting the charger or trying switching on and off the switch until it starts detecting my charger. I updated my bios to the latest version but nothing works. My laptop is still in the warranty till 22-05-2013.
