Was traveling from Florida to my hometown in North Carolina when I stopped at a local hotel halfway. Hotel had wireless so I popped on and noticed something weird. I start iChat and it goes nuts! Kept logging on and off at the speed of light without actually connecting. After 15 seconds it said connect later because you have tried to many times for now.
Well I fire it up 30 min later it starts but there is no windows popping up for it anymore. The top bar changes to ichat but no menu or window or anything.

I have a new Netgear router because my old one died. From everything I can tell it is the exact same router I had before just brand new. Perhaps the firmware is different but I kept it updated so don't know for sure.
Basically what is happening is when I start iChat it will just sign in and sign out extremely rapidly until the account is temporarily disabled because I logged in and out too often. I click the icon and it logs in an out faster than I can count instantly then BAM the error message.
Have no idea whats going on. Don't have any other network at my disposal right now to try this on so I can't say if it is the router or a random problem with iChat. AIM works fine on my phone so I know it isn't the account.
I'm going to restart right now and then try 7 and see if the problem still persists but has anyone heard of a problem like this? Very strange.
My MBP is up to date software side. Made no new changes.
Works fine in Windows 7. AIM starts up without issue.

my notebook has been shutting off my network connection whenever I close my lid. This didn't start happening until maybe a few weeks ago, maybe even less. I couldn't say if there was anything I did to accidentally cause this, but I certainly didn't do anything intentionally. I've looked through all the network connections properties and whatnot and I can't seem to find a fix.
I'm using an HP DV6500t that I purchased almost a year and a half ago. I have the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN.

I'm running windows 7 64bit, I got a new RGBLED screen as a replacement mid last week. Now I just realized that when I close the lid the screen isn't turning off. I've went through all of the power options and set it to "Do nothing" when closing the lid and that, for every single laptop I've owned has made the screen to shut off when closed. If I let it idle it'll dim and then shut down like it normally would during windows use. Is there a quickfix or some sort of driver needed?
Also grabbed a 9cell battery from a parts sort locally, couldn't believe they had a 9cell for $30! This thing looks brand new, but I'm suspicious that it might be some chinese fake, how can I determine if it's real? It only have 1.0% of wear on it according to HWiNFO32.

For those that use Windows on your Mac's, which version do you recommend? I'm thinking, what's best for battery life, performance etc..
I have a copy of Windows XP Pro SP3 and Windows Vista Ultimate SP2. I'm tempted to go with XP for simplicity, and the fact that it has equal compatibility and a shed load less intrusive DRM.

So since Bootcamp 3.0 is out what's more sensible to use; XP or seven? I know originally, Bootcamp was written for Windows XP and everyone (Forumers) said Bootcamp will work best with Windows XP even after Vista came out. I've read Bootcamp 1.2 was released so that all the Apple hardware components would work with Vista (AKA driver updates).
Now since bootcamp 3.0 is out; Will it be worth while to upgrade to windows 7? In other terms, will Seven give me better battery power opposed to bootcamping in XP? Whether it's facts or speculation; Is Bootcamp 3.0 set better to work with windows 7? OR is is like the Bootcamp 1.2; Did Apple release 3.0 so that apple hardware will be compatible with Windows Seven (driver updates)? and I do know the final version of seven isn't out but I don't think it will differ much from the release candidate kernal (correct me if I am wrong). Thanks and sorry if my wording confuses you, been working all day.

Would you have bought a Mac? With the growing number of Apple's customer base just curious about how many people are really interested in the Mac OS as their primary OS and not just the pretty hardware?

Is anyone running Windows 7 via Bootcamp (not virtualized) on the new 15inch MBP with the core i5?
How is the performance? How is the battery life?Any driver issues or other problems of note?Does the new MBP still run at 1 million degrees in Windows 7?
I am debating buying the new 15inch MBP core i5 or the Sony Vaio Z for a development laptop to run Windows 7. If the new MBP runs Windows 7 very nicely then I might go with it over the Sony Vaio Z.

As some of you know, Microsoft Windows supported the PowerPC architecture at one point, the latest version being Windows NT 4.0.
I was just wondering if it would be possible to grab a copy of it, and install it onto my iMac G3 or any PowerPC Mac for that matter. I think it would be kind of cool.
Anyone see any flaws/reasons why it shouldn't work? I mean, Apple itself in 1996 was planning on running Windows NT 4.0 on it's line of servers when their OS was going down the tube.

I'm planning on install Parallels. I'm confused as whether to use XP or Vista. Would it be easier to install XP onto Mac? Vista looks different, and I don't mind using something different. If Vista will cause problems, I would rather use XP.
Also, is Parallels a popular choice? How is Bootcamp? VM Ware?

Before anyone tells me to use the search function. I did. Except the results it brought up kept giving me 404 errors, and not being well versed in tech lingo, I have no idea what they are.
All I'm asking is people's opinion on what the perceived best antivirus program there is out there that works on both operating systems.

I am just wondering, how are Apple's Boot Camp drivers for Windows 7? I am looking into purchasing the new MacBook Pro 13" specifically.
Also, is it true the approximate battery life on these things is 7 hours instead of 10?

I just installed win7 on the MBP I purchased today, everything is great except the internal mic isn't working. I googled it and it appears to be a problem, is there a fix out for this issue?
Also I guess I'll throw it in that my MBP is running pretty hot, is this normal? Or is there a fan control

I just got my MBP and when I plug in my external HD I've been using with my windows pc, it will say that it's removed after a minute or so (even though I haven't done anything to it). I managed to copy a couple files onto my mac before the HD disappears. however, when I unplug it and plug it in again, I can't get my MBP to see the HD. Normally it only sees it for about a minute or so when I boot up my computer... is this normal? I'd like to be able to use the HD as most of my files from work are on it...

I have a MacBookPro5,2 that I've recently installed a 2nd HDD using an optibay caddy where the superdrive had been.
I would like to have Windows 7 running natively on that 2nd drive. Can I do this via Bootcamp? Or do I use the OS X Disk Utility app to format it as FAT and then proceed to install the windows OS without using bootcamp? I assume I would then need to install the apple drivers that are on my snow leaopard install disk.
Is that about right? Will I be able to selective boot by holding the Opt key at bootup jsut as if I had used bootcamp?
