View 8 Replies View RelatedThe LCD on my 700m quit working after I dropped it. But OK on external monitor. Got new screen on eBay. Part # slightly different but that's moot now.
After hooking up the two cables to new screen and putting battery back in, I pressed START button. The light would come on for a few seconds and then blink off, accompanied by a faint click. The data cable to screen got very hot in just a few attempts to start up.
Now nothing works (no more blinks and clicks) with either LCD, on either battery or mains. At this point I would be happy just with external monitor. Had I tripped an thermal overload device, and is there a reset button?
We have some (old) Latitude D510 laptops that are used by students and apparently a couple of them did not have the bios locked out and these kids have discovered this.
We have two machines that are locked out and Dell is not being very helpful in the reset. Of course these machines are way out of warranty and not worth purchasing a new system board which is what Dell is now saying .....
Each time, when I turn off my notebook or remove main battery it's resets time to 2008/bla/bla...
I tried to:
- Reinstall latest bios;
- Reinstall Windows 7;
- Replace coin-cell battery;
- Set time in bios;
Can anyone point me to the reset button on a 6935, cannot find it for the life of me.
Had a few hangs of late, and no way to reset the laptop, the power button does nothing.
I want to sell my 1810tz notebook because of different reasons, one is the buzzing noise problem over speaker or line-out. So is there any easy way in resetting the 1810tz drive C: to default state like out of the box state? There is a hidden partition 12Gb in size, is that a backup Windows 7 installation partition I can access while booting or so? And if yes, will it delete all data stored on the HDD just like clean installation?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a 2450 and the keyboard, touchpad and usb ports are all not working. I did some reading and someone had said that a reset could fix this problem, he said it was a problem with Acers bios. I'm trying to find where to jumper it, i read that you jumper J3 that is around the memory. I did that and don't think it reset, i figured the bios would give me a time warning or some sort of setting's warning. I thought i should see if anyone knows the procedure. Otherwise im thinking about cutting the lead to the top terminal and soldering in a jumper (which i don't want to do).
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy notebook(Acer Aspire 5735Z) has a problem:
It happends with Internet Explorer,Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome,when I post long messages in forums or blogs,or when I upload files in hosting websites like imageshack or megaupload,Firefox tells me that "The connection was reset"
In the other computer I have I can upload files without problems and I don't get errors,the two computers share the same net.
So I don't know why my notebook reacts like that when I try to upload files or write long posts in forum..is it only my notebook's problem or is it a Issue of the Acer Aspire 5735Z Notebooks,and how can I repair it?
I am trying to perform a factory reset for a Acer laptop but I cannot find an option that I am looking for.
I hit ALT + F10 at bootup and I get to the eRecovery Management screen.
From here, I get two choices:
1. Restore system to factory default.
2. Restore system from CD/DVD
As, I do not have any DVDs, I choose option 1. After that, the recovery process continues without any more prompts and restores the laptop to its default settings.
Here is the problem but. The laptop has a 120GB Had drive which after factory reset is split into 2 partitions of 55GB each with the remaining 10GB for the hidden recovery partition. Thus there is 3 partitions in total.
As it is Vista Premium, C: is already 50% full straight after the factory reset.
Is there any way I can perform the reset and have an option to just have one C drive of 110GB? I did not see any such option when performing the reset by using ALT + F10. There doesn't seem to be an option for this when performing the reset from within Windows itself.
I was thinking maybe deleting the D partiton before performing the reset may help but I am not 100 percent sure as I am not sure if the factory image contains 1 or 2 partitions.
I acquired a 8510w from ebay but the BIOS is password protected, so the notebook only boots from internal hdd and I cannot change it.
Is there any way to reset the BIOS password?

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 notebook with Windows 7 64-bit. Last week after I was attacked by some virus that's called Win 7 I installed a virus removal program Super Anti Spyware Free Edition. The problem went away but so did my ability to access the Firewall. I tried a few different options from the Microsoft site like trying to find it on the services menu, it wasn't there. I tried saving a repair sequence in Notepad then running as administrator from the desktop that didn't work either. Every time I try to reset the firewall an error code pops up. Error code- 0x80070424
Now I have to keep jumping around from different user accounts on the computer because the same malware/virus keeps trying to pop up. It keeps trying to make me buy the full version even though it appears to be nothing wrong with the computer according to other programs. i googled it and it's a scam to get you to pay for something you don't need.
If I set my HP G72-250US Notebook back to factory settings, will I still have Windows 7 Home Premium that came with the new computer?
