We have some (old) Latitude D510 laptops that are used by students and apparently a couple of them did not have the bios locked out and these kids have discovered this.
We have two machines that are locked out and Dell is not being very helpful in the reset. Of course these machines are way out of warranty and not worth purchasing a new system board which is what Dell is now saying .....
I need to purchase a dell D510 lcd but want to know if the inverter has to replaced with new/used lcd or can I use the old one?

The laptop is a dell latitude d510
the multimedia key in F array can be changed the priority in Bios. In default bios, the multimedia key is the main key,
while F arrray like f1, f2.... have to be pressed simultaneously with Function key. And I changed the default bios because I use F arrray usually.
But everytime I change laptop power from battery to adapter or adapter to battery and restart the laptop, the Bios is reset to the default.
Iupdated the lastest bios A08 and driver of the devices.
I forget my dell bios password. How i can reset it.I have dell Inspiron N4050.
Laptop = Dell INSPIRON n4050
RAM = 2GB
Processor = Intel Pentium(R) CPU B950 @ 2.10Ghz 2.10Ghz
Laptop is locked. need bios password or way to reset it....

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a D510 battery that according to the laptop LED is fully charged however upon booting into windows the battery power indicator and the dell quickset indicator show only 84%i have also let the laptop charge the battery while in windows however even when the charge indicator on the laptop is off and the indicator in the taskbar shows running of the mains the charge is again 84%i have tested the battery health using the inbuilt indicator and it is OK, it is only 12 months old but i am aware that degridation takes place, but could this just be a case of windows not reporting the charge correctly and its nothing to worry aboutthe battery lasts between 2-3 hours on average id say thats goodupdated the battery seems to be stuck charging at 88% is that a sign of simple wear and tear?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got a Latitude D510 from a friend, he says it wont turn off unless you hold down the power button, I tried turning it off by the start menu selection (windows 7 home premium sp1)
And it starts turning off. Then a Blue screen pops up for at least 30 seconds and then it restarts.
i have a brand new 2 months old studio 1555. but the problem is that when ever i connect a charger the screen brightness automatically levels up and when ever i restart there after the bios settings revert back to multimedia keys first. having a bois A07.

The service tag is in my profile information and the computer system tag on the laptop bios password sign in screen is B*B*H*1-595B... Now the problem is not solved, i've the same in my windows 7 64 (when the laptop hibernate, it freeze). I think it is a bios error, and i want Reset it, but, if i try to reinstall the last bios, installation program does not work and report: "the last bios is already installed).
I bought a 2450 and the keyboard, touchpad and usb ports are all not working. I did some reading and someone had said that a reset could fix this problem, he said it was a problem with Acers bios. I'm trying to find where to jumper it, i read that you jumper J3 that is around the memory. I did that and don't think it reset, i figured the bios would give me a time warning or some sort of setting's warning. I thought i should see if anyone knows the procedure. Otherwise im thinking about cutting the lead to the top terminal and soldering in a jumper (which i don't want to do).
