Apr 5, 2009I need to purchase a dell D510 lcd but want to know if the inverter has to replaced with new/used lcd or can I use the old one?

Dell :: D510 BIOS Reset
May 19, 2009We have some (old) Latitude D510 laptops that are used by students and apparently a couple of them did not have the bios locked out and these kids have discovered this.
We have two machines that are locked out and Dell is not being very helpful in the reset. Of course these machines are way out of warranty and not worth purchasing a new system board which is what Dell is now saying .....

Dell Latitude D510 :: Battery Fully Charged But Not Shown In Windows
Nov 2, 2006I have a D510 battery that according to the laptop LED is fully charged however upon booting into windows the battery power indicator and the dell quickset indicator show only 84%i have also let the laptop charge the battery while in windows however even when the charge indicator on the laptop is off and the indicator in the taskbar shows running of the mains the charge is again 84%i have tested the battery health using the inbuilt indicator and it is OK, it is only 12 months old but i am aware that degridation takes place, but could this just be a case of windows not reporting the charge correctly and its nothing to worry aboutthe battery lasts between 2-3 hours on average id say thats goodupdated the battery seems to be stuck charging at 88% is that a sign of simple wear and tear?

Dec 31, 2014I recently got a Latitude D510 from a friend, he says it wont turn off unless you hold down the power button, I tried turning it off by the start menu selection (windows 7 home premium sp1)
And it starts turning off. Then a Blue screen pops up for at least 30 seconds and then it restarts.

Jan 24, 2010I have a Dell Inspiron 640m 14.1" laptop. I cleaned screen with foam and some foam flow under the screen frame, where the LCD inverter is. 1/3 of the screen (lower part) started to shudder (horizontal stripes appeared) and after some time this part stay brighter than other 2/3 upper part of the LCD. Motions on the brighter part are slow, mouse arrow movement is like in jelly. Text is hard to read. See added photo about LCD. Is it a LCD problem or inverter problem? What component needs replacement?

Mar 31, 2009I think I have decided to purchase a Dell Studio XPS 1340, as I require a new laptop before the end of June and I'm not sure anything better in this class will be available before then.
I will be using it for a bit of everything, including work, portability, hooking it up for presentations, general surfing on the couch and some minor game playing. I have a few questions about purchasing it.
1. CPU. At the moment both the P9500 (2.53GHz) and the P9600 (2.66GHz) cost an extra $388.30. Shouldn't the P9600 cost more than the P9500? Am I missing something here?
2. Screen. I get a lot of glare on my current laptop at work. Does the XPS 1340 have a glossy or matte screen? Does choosing WLED or CCFL have any effect on this?
3. Deals. There is currently a $150 cash off deal which ends tomorrow (Thursday). This seems like a pretty good deal to me.
Should I take this or is there a high likelihood a better deal will be available soon? I will also be using the EPP code as I'm a full-time student.
Are there any other coupons I could use? In addition to being a full-time student, I am also a small business owner (strange combo I know), and have bought Dell desktops for employees in the past. Would I be able to get a better deal going through a small business sales channel .....

Nov 5, 2008I see that Bestbuy has the Dell XPS X1330 on sale for $949. I was impressed at how loaded this laptop is but upon looking through forums I see there have been alot of issues in the past with the video card, heat, etc... and alot of very unhappy customers. Have these issues been resolved? Is this a good reliable laptop or is it better to steer clear?

Dell :: LCD Backlight/inverter Repairs
Sep 14, 2009I have a Dell 17" laptop and the screen shows this blueish green vertical on startup.
After a few minutes of warming up the line goes away and the screen looks normal. The line reappears on reboot though.
Looks like this is a problem with the backlight/inverter. The laptop is almost 4 years old, but I would like to keep it going a little while longer

Feb 2, 2010The inverter flaked out in my Inspiron 6000, so I ordered a new "compatible" (same part number/specs, different design) inverter, which does work, only if the LCD is outside of the chassis.
Once the LCD is placed back into the chassis, something grounds and the inverter does not work. Once I take the screen back out of the chassis, it works fine. I'm not sure what could be grounding it or causing it not to work

Aug 19, 2009I have a dell inspiron 600m laptop and my screen is dimmed out. If I turn of my laptop and restart it, the display will come on for a second ( but it is a little bit reddish) and then I hear a noise and it light goes off, and I can;t see anymore. However, I am sure the computer is still running properly
I am sure that the computer is on, and is functioning properly for two reasons:
1- if it is sunny, i can see my desktop, and what ever I have open, be that a browser, a word document, so on and so forth
2-when i connect my laptop to an external display everything is fine...

Apr 7, 2009So I purchased a "scratch n dent" mini 9 from the dell outlet. It arrived today. When I looked at the bottom it had a refurbished sticker on the bottom. I know on the outlet they have ordered previously new, refurbished, and scratch n dent.
Do all the scratch n dent computers come with this sticker? I figure the refurb would but didn't think the scratch n dent would as it's only a used computer..
