I am about to pull the gun on a new laptop..
I have 9300 modded with a 7800 gtx go.. but that card is showing its age already..
I am thinking about getting a m1710 w/ 7950 GTX, 2.0 Core2Duo, 200 gig 7200 HD, 2 GIG Ram for $2500 shipped..
Will I regret this since the m1730 is suppose to come out the 21st of Sept?
When the m1730 comes out.. this should push the price down a little more for the m1710 right?
does anyone know whether the integrated gpu on the northbridge is connected to the LCD or any of the external video ports in a model that is equiped with an NVIDIA GPU?
The reason is that I was thinking of knocking out the NVIDIA part, but there wouldn't be much point if I couldn't see anything afterwards.
Dell Latitude E4310 Battery 2 not present and also I cant find the web cam ...
View 11 Replies View RelatedOkay, I can't get the "feature" of the touchpad to work where it "disables when a USB mouse is present"
Reason:Â There is a perpetual bluetooth mouse appearing in the device manager.
I actually have 3 mouse devices listed: Touchpad, HID-Compliant (bluetooth), and HID-Compliant (Wifi). Numbers 1 and 3 are correct. Number 2 is not really there,
When I pull the WiFi dongle, the #3 mouse correctly goes away, leaving me with two.
Clearly, the touchpad is detecting a "HID-Compliant" mouse "on bluetooth". BUT THERE IS NO MOUSE PAIRED. I tried to uninstall the bluetooth software from Add/Remove (or whatever Win7 calls it this year), but the device is still there. So I did an "uninstall" of the device in the device manager, and it comes back. (yes rebooting between all attempts)
So, something, somewhere, is claiming to be a mouse on the bluetooth stack. How do I make it go away, since it's not really there? Because it is causing the touchpad software to disable, thinking there is another device.
Additionally, when I forgot my mouse, I tried to activate the touchpad... Do you realize that it is completely *impossible* to manipulate the user interface to the Tochpad applet in the control panel without a mouse in the first place??? You cannot make the "save" button activate. This is the ultimate in poor usage design.
I am using HP Envy 15 J049tx Notebook.I am facing Error when installing "Qualcomm Atheros QCA9000 Series Bluetooth 4.0+HS Driver for Microsoft Windows".
It Show an error as,"The Device may not be present or could have been ejected/unplugged from the system. . . . . . . Insert or Reinsert Now."
I recently bouht a VN7-591G-75HT, without OS and then installed Win7. I didn't want to use Win8. Laptop works when pluged in, but it reports that there is no battery and that the battery is not charging. It doesn't even start when not on AC.

I have decided to buy a dell xps m1330. Before I pull the trigger I needed some advice. Here is the configuration I have decided on .....
View 10 Replies View RelatedI think I have decided to purchase a Dell Studio XPS 1340, as I require a new laptop before the end of June and I'm not sure anything better in this class will be available before then.
I will be using it for a bit of everything, including work, portability, hooking it up for presentations, general surfing on the couch and some minor game playing. I have a few questions about purchasing it.
1. CPU. At the moment both the P9500 (2.53GHz) and the P9600 (2.66GHz) cost an extra $388.30. Shouldn't the P9600 cost more than the P9500? Am I missing something here?
2. Screen. I get a lot of glare on my current laptop at work. Does the XPS 1340 have a glossy or matte screen? Does choosing WLED or CCFL have any effect on this?
3. Deals. There is currently a $150 cash off deal which ends tomorrow (Thursday). This seems like a pretty good deal to me.
Should I take this or is there a high likelihood a better deal will be available soon? I will also be using the EPP code as I'm a full-time student.
Are there any other coupons I could use? In addition to being a full-time student, I am also a small business owner (strange combo I know), and have bought Dell desktops for employees in the past. Would I be able to get a better deal going through a small business sales channel .....
I see that Bestbuy has the Dell XPS X1330 on sale for $949. I was impressed at how loaded this laptop is but upon looking through forums I see there have been alot of issues in the past with the video card, heat, etc... and alot of very unhappy customers. Have these issues been resolved? Is this a good reliable laptop or is it better to steer clear?
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to make a purchase on Dell.com using both PayPal and a CC directly through dell.com? Like, if I select PayPal as the payment method and only enter the amount that I was deducted from my PayPal account, will Dell.com prompt me to pay the balance with another payment method?
(The reason is I want to use some funds in my PayPal account and take advantage of a Dell.com cashback offer from the CC. Won't get the cashback if the CC payment is through PayPal.)
I'm referring to the Dellienware M17x. I wanted to post this here because I will be purchasing this laptop from Dell Canada.
I was wondering if you guys could tell me how I can save money. I am aware of the EPP 7% discount. IS there any other discount that I could get?
I bought a m15x last year and sent it back since it was defective, I was offered a 5% discount on my next alienware purchase. I called Dell Canada's sales reps and they don't know anything about applying a credit from Alienware.
I sent the email with 5% discount to 5 different reps and they all said that they would send it to their managers and get back to me ASAP. well none of them have gotten back to me .....
I live out of the US and I am going to travel next week to New York and Los Angeles for a week.
I have an address in both locations but that does not help me because shipping takes more then on week for sure.
I cant believe how much money could be saved if i were to get it from the states!
Where is best value to get one from UK ? it seems as though most money can be saved by getting a refurb, lots on ebay and from a lot of reputable sellers.
where did you get yours from? dell ? ebay ? which seller? etc
I am trying to find a laptop for starting college this fall. I am majoring in Accounting. I was looking around for laptops and am considering an E6400.
I definitly would like a dell because my college is partnered with them and they can do warranty work on campus.
I need to purchase a dell D510 lcd but want to know if the inverter has to replaced with new/used lcd or can I use the old one?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking about purchasing a Dell Studio 15 as a replacement for my recently dead HP Pavilion dv6500. The HP is dead after 1.5 years most likely due to over heating, even though I use a laptop cooler.
Anyway I'll be using this for work, programming, watching divx/mkv connecting to my LCD TV, web surfing. This will be my first Dell laptop ever so any input from you guys will be greatly appreciated. The specs are below along with how much it'll cost: ...
I am about 75% sure this dell is the one. I am seriously considering the lenovo U330 (heavier-ugh but w/hdmi port) or a Thinkpad T400 (maybe 400s) because i am hard on my computers
The e4300 is my top choice because of it's weight, but I saw the Studio 14z and was a bit put off. I know consumer vs. business can be apples to oranges, but I it made me start to think...
I'm in the process of selling a laptop and looking at the E6400 as a replacement. I was just wondering if you all are happy with your purchase, and would you recommend it? Also, I'm thinking of buying it refurbished; is there anything i should be wary of?
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy battery on my XPS 1530 has lived its life. I need to buy a replacememt battery. The Dell website is offering me the amazing price of $189.99 (CDN dollars).
Can anyone recommend me a reliable online store or brick and mortar store that sells the XPS 1530 9 cell battery at a good price?
So I purchased a "scratch n dent" mini 9 from the dell outlet. It arrived today. When I looked at the bottom it had a refurbished sticker on the bottom. I know on the outlet they have ordered previously new, refurbished, and scratch n dent.
Do all the scratch n dent computers come with this sticker? I figure the refurb would but didn't think the scratch n dent would as it's only a used computer..
A pretty good deal on the dell xps 1645 came up recently and I was wondering whether i should buy it now or wait for any updates to the dell studio xps 16 in the summer.
Do you guys think the studio xps 16 will have the ATI 5000 series graphics chip or new processor by summer time
Does the Dell XPS M1330 still come with the travel remote and case extras when you purchase a new laptop?
While they're pictured in all the reviews dating to over a year ago
I just purchased this new in box on Ebay.
Your input and direction on how to maximize my knowledge of this purchase would be MUCH appreciated.
Just received a Z610y as a college graduation gift, but it was not purchased with an extended warranty. I'm accident-prone, and am interested in a 3 year extended warranty with ADH.
I talked to someone at Sony Style who said I could purchase the warranty up to 30 days from the date of sale. I noticed newegg.com has one for sale, but when I talked to an associate there, they said it was only for sale with the purchase of a new laptop.
So with best buy selling the low end model for $1699.99 I'm curious if there is a resource for purchasing z series parts like the 1920 x 1080 screen from the international versions (or the $4500 US version). Even if it's a $400 service part it's still worth it.
I'd have no problem replacing the screen and likely able to see the 1600x900 on ebay for some cash. I just haven't seen a place for Sony parts
I'm considering buying a new Vaio Z series, and I'm trying to keep the initial price to a minimum whilst maximising what I need Sony to do at the factory.
So, what components are upgradeable?
Obvious ones:
- RAM
- HDD/SSD
- CPU
- GPU
- WWAN - can I add this at a later date should I find I need it?
From my research on here, I (think I) understand that the SSD isn't upgradeable due to a proprietary connector - what about buying a Z with a standard SATA drive? Does this use a standard SATA connector (and enable purchasing SSD drives aftermarket)?
What do you think about my configuration?

This isn't a full review but I wanted to post my thoughts after a few days with the Studio XPS 16. Maybe this will help others considering this notebook among others to make a decision.
I ordered it from the Outlet, $1149 for SXPS 16 with P8600, 1GB ATI 4670, RGBLED screen, 500gb drive, Intel 5300 wifi, DVD/RW. I got the 9 cell for additional $80.
This seemed like too good a deal to pass up, particularly since it was "previously ordered new" rather than refurbished or scratch/dent .....
