I recently bouht a VN7-591G-75HT, without OS and then installed Win7. I didn't want to use Win8. Laptop works when pluged in, but it reports that there is no battery and that the battery is not charging. It doesn't even start when not on AC.
View 3 RepliesI have a unit that we have installed a new battery and it still says plugged in not charging. BIOS is not updated to current version, cannot update BIOS as battery is not over "10%". When unit boots, it will not post past splash screen when ACAD plugged in. Model number is Inspiron 11 (3137) and is currently running Windows 8.1.

I've been on "chat" with tech support and they said it can't be done without calling for paid support. I've tried regedit but I must not be entering the right choice.

1) Disabling Adaptive Brightness
2) Turning the brightness settings to max
3) Trying the brightness settings in the Intel Graphics configurator
The laptop is much darker than any other laptop i've ever had. I have a Yoga 2 and a Macbook Retina 13 that are both much brighter. Its very hard to see ....
So I just bought (came in yesterday) a brand new aspire v 15 nitro and now it often freezes and crashes/shuts down at boot-up. I turn it on i get the acer boot up screen and then it stops and after a minute or so and shuts down.
I have done some things to it:
-partitioned the hdd (150/800 GB)
-updated windows
-checked for updates through acer care center (only one intel update)
-installed: steam, origin (EA), firefox, openoffice, winrar, viper (plagiarism scanner wich i used on my previous pc) and a couple of games
-uninstalled mcafee
I did not change any strange settings, like disabling apps from start-up except for steam.
THERE IS NO DEVICE SETTINGS !!!!!!!
View 7 Replies View RelatedRecently bought a Acer Aspire Nitro v15 with windows 8.1 with a qualcomm atheros ar5bwb222 wireless network card. The connection is really unstable and often disconnects and have very few bars. This is not from the router since the connection on my phone and other computers are fine. The connection (when i have it) is also really slow compared to when i use my phone on the same network. I tried updating the drivers but it says my latest drivers are installed. Could this be a Windows 8.1 problem? this is my first time owning a windows 8.1 computer.

Though I've noticed that not very intensive games are stressing my CPU to about 80-90C, which I am not entirely certain is the norm. This seems to happen primarily when the laptop is plugged in, as temps seem relatively stable when unplugged. I recently turned my CPU power down a bit (to 96%), and that has seemed to keep my temps relatively stable.
I guess my question is: Is this normal? I feel like those temps are way too high, and I fear of burning out my CPU. I am going to pickup a cooling pad today, and start using it when I play games. I am relatively certain my fans are working, but my CPU temps jump around quite a bit. I know gaming laptops are built to get hot, but the last thing I want is to burn my new toy.
I just bought a new Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition VN7-591G-74LK. I found the WIFI (Atheros AR5BWB222) disconnects every time the CPU/Fan is in full load or nearly full load. Once the CPU/Fan utilization is low, the WiFi connection recovers.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI've bought a new laptop 1 week ago, and it's running smooth with 1 exception: Everytime I shut the computer down or save energy, it magically forgets it has fans to cool cpu and graphics card. When i try to run a game it will gradually drop fps until it shuts down from overheating. I tried to fully discharge it and disconnect it from the battery to identify the hardware and then set it to standard in the bios, then it works. But the moment I shut down the computer it is the same thing over again. I don't want to do said process everytime I start my laptop..

I wonder if there has any solutions or I have to send it back. Also, I found that there has a tape written with "Opened" on the case... I wonder what is that mean... I just installed Windows 7 x64 from scratch. Thing is, it shows 4GB of installed memory, but only 3GB is accessible.
Resource Monitor shows 1026MB of memory being "hardware reserved".
I've had this problem ever since adding the 4GBx2 sticks (DDR2-667) in my machine. I've tried 3.50 and 3.60 bios on Acer's site, but it doesn't make a difference.
Processor is a T5500, but the chipset is i945PM, so it supports 4GB of ram. Is there a way to remap the ram so that the whole 4GB can be used?

The WNet doesn't work, Vid Card isn't installed, nor is the Sound Card, and any other hardware that I'm forgetting that also needs to be installed (nothing is installed). I don't have the discs to install them. Can I get the installs for all these online somewhere and burn them to a disc and install on laptop?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have upgraded to Windows 7 x64 (a fair while ago) and rencently it has started to come up with "No sound device installed" over the speaker icon in the sys tray.
This happens about 50% of the time when the computer has started up.
It never has any issues once the sound is working.
When the sound is not working "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" in Device manager is missing and i cant find the "Reltek HD Audio" device any where else in device manager.
It's just had a freash install of the OS and is still not working reliably.
It's got the latest Win 7 x64 drivers from RelTek
I have been working on computers for almost 20 years and this has me completely confused. My Aspire V3-571-6643 laptop was working fine until just recently. The system will power on and show the Acer screen and then immediately reboots. It will stay in this reboot loop until manually stopped.
I cleaned and reseated the RAM module and also tried it in both slots with no change. I was able to access BIOS and determined the drives and all settings are correct and even reset to factory defaults with no change. I then pulled the HDD to use in a docking station to determine if the drive was salvagable. Everything reads fine and passed both short and long tests via SeaTools. With the HDD installed the system won't try to boot to CD/USB but after removing it the system will boot to CD just fine. I then ran a full scan using Eurosoft Pc-Check and everything is fine. I reinstalled the HDD and immediately get the reboot loop again.
At this point the mainboard and HDD both test fine independently but will not work together. My only guess is that the mainboard is no longer supplying enough power for all of the components and crashing when the HDD tries to spin up on boot. That, or the SATA controller is malfunctioning and only working for the ODD.

I can turn off the red lights with the F9 key, but they don't stay off: the lights turn back on as I continue to work.
Is there a way to PERMANENTLY turn off the red lights? I love the laptop but HATE the red lights.
I would like to know is it possible to add second drive into the system. Cause i saw from other acer website, they do have laptop version with 1tb hdd+ 256ssd dual storage version.

Am I out of luck with this card or is there a way to force install a driver...or is there a better driver to install?
I've tried the latest 197.16, 186.03 drivers from nvidia. Even from laptopvideo2go...no dice.
I'm using a Scandisk 8 gig flash drive for ready boost. When I boot the computer, it won't boot in to vista unless the flash drive is pulled out. I updated to bios 1.43.

When I hit the green leaf, the icon no longer pops up on the screen, but it does seem to do the same thing as it did on vista, I just have no notification... is this normal for W7RC?
I was replacing y HDD in the laptop with SDD. The laptop is acer 4830TG, it had 512GB HDD WD. Replacing it with Kingston SSD 480GB.
The SSD is not detected at startup of the laptop, while it is detected on another machine, I also tried another SSD on the acer and it was detected (the other SSD is 120GB). Is this a sort of compatibility issue ?
