I Just bought the Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black edition. I live on the 10 key pad and it's frustrating that it needs to be turned on everytime I log in. I've been on "chat" with tech support and they said it can't be done without calling for paid support. I've tried regedit but I must not be entering the right choice.

3) Trying the brightness settings in the Intel Graphics configurator
The laptop is much darker than any other laptop i've ever had. I have a Yoga 2 and a Macbook Retina 13 that are both much brighter. Its very hard to see ....
I have just bought an Aspire E15 Laptop, its working well so far, but I'm just setting the 'fiddly bits'. Can I set the numlock to default to 'ON' at start up? A minor point but just starting to annoy me!
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently I have purchased the Acer v15 Nitro Black Edition gaming notebook. Though I've noticed that not very intensive games are stressing my CPU to about 80-90C, which I am not entirely certain is the norm. This seems to happen primarily when the laptop is plugged in, as temps seem relatively stable when unplugged. I recently turned my CPU power down a bit (to 96%), and that has seemed to keep my temps relatively stable.
I guess my question is: Is this normal? I feel like those temps are way too high, and I fear of burning out my CPU. I am going to pickup a cooling pad today, and start using it when I play games. I am relatively certain my fans are working, but my CPU temps jump around quite a bit. I know gaming laptops are built to get hot, but the last thing I want is to burn my new toy.
I just bought a new Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition VN7-591G-74LK. I found the WIFI (Atheros AR5BWB222) disconnects every time the CPU/Fan is in full load or nearly full load. Once the CPU/Fan utilization is low, the WiFi connection recovers.

I wonder if there has any solutions or I have to send it back. Also, I found that there has a tape written with "Opened" on the case... I wonder what is that mean... View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just bought (came in yesterday) a brand new aspire v 15 nitro and now it often freezes and crashes/shuts down at boot-up. I turn it on i get the acer boot up screen and then it stops and after a minute or so and shuts down.
I have done some things to it:
-partitioned the hdd (150/800 GB)
-updated windows
-checked for updates through acer care center (only one intel update)
-installed: steam, origin (EA), firefox, openoffice, winrar, viper (plagiarism scanner wich i used on my previous pc) and a couple of games
-uninstalled mcafee
I did not change any strange settings, like disabling apps from start-up except for steam.
Lenovo G570 have a UEFI? If yes then how I can to make the UEFI boot by default?
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently bought a Acer Aspire Nitro v15 with windows 8.1 with a qualcomm atheros ar5bwb222 wireless network card. The connection is really unstable and often disconnects and have very few bars. This is not from the router since the connection on my phone and other computers are fine. The connection (when i have it) is also really slow compared to when i use my phone on the same network. I tried updating the drivers but it says my latest drivers are installed. Could this be a Windows 8.1 problem? this is my first time owning a windows 8.1 computer.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've bought a new laptop 1 week ago, and it's running smooth with 1 exception: Everytime I shut the computer down or save energy, it magically forgets it has fans to cool cpu and graphics card. When i try to run a game it will gradually drop fps until it shuts down from overheating. I tried to fully discharge it and disconnect it from the battery to identify the hardware and then set it to standard in the bios, then it works. But the moment I shut down the computer it is the same thing over again. I don't want to do said process everytime I start my laptop..

Windows to remove malware, I had to reinstall all my new apps & software which deleted . After doing that I received a message to create a recovery file to factory default file on a USB. When I tried to do there was message that new apps & software would be deleted. Can I create a recovery file without having to re-install all new apps & software again.

As per the user manual we type recovery in the search and select 'Acer Recovery Management'.
We then get the User Acount Control window asking if we want to allow Acer Recovery Management to make changes to the computer, then click 'Yes'.
Then nothing happens......
When I go to the Backup and Recovery, and I have not yet created a factory default disc, to do so... it does not do that. How can I create a factory default disc?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy dell laptop can't turn on. When I press power button, there have no activity. I see Num lock LED is OFF, Caps Lock LED is ON and Scroll lock is always blinking. LCD screen not display anything.
Here is the screenshot of my LED blinking.
1. I dissemble my laptop and remove unnecessary components and cable. I have tested and connected only with Motherboard , CPU and RAM.
2. I tried to replace with new RAM. But it can't solve problem.
3. I tried to remove Battery, only AC power can't solve problem.
4. I tried to replace new CMOS battery. But it can't.
I have an Aspire 2920 laptop with Windows Vista Home Edition O.S. It starts and works fine except that after I was using it with an external monitor (a flat screen tv) on the option to use external monitor, it only now starts thinking the monitor is the flat screen tv and does not recognizes the normal laptop screen. The laptop screen is now "pixeled" and only shows like 2/3 of its total width. I've checked in Control Panel and it has the flat screen registered as the "normal" monitor, but I can not way a find to tell the computer that the monitor is the same as usual and not the flat screen tv.

It keeps telling me to insert a 16 gb usb. I don't have a free USB to use and I would prefer to put it on disks like I have done for every other computer I have owned.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just purchased this model from my local Best Buy, and after having valiantly turned down their $150 set-up fee, I decided to try my hand at making the recover disks myself. Obviously, I failed miserably.
Here's my problem: using the eRecovery program on the laptop, I've tried burning a default factory disk using several types of CD's and DVD's but each time, the program rejects my disks and asks for a blank one. The error code that comes up is Error 0x205.
I've looked at the Acer Europe website, but I have not come to any conclusion as to how to fix this problem. My software seems to be up to date but could it be a faulty optical drive?

(Newegg sells their returned items and cosmetically damaged goods under this name on Ebay). After I did a fresh reformat of the hard drive and a fresh install of Windows 7, the laptop freezes/locks up after 10-30mins on the desktop. I cannot move the mouse or anything, so I have to do a hard reboot. I don't understand how it is happening.
I updated the mobo's Phoenix driver to the latest one, and tried older VGA Nvidia drivers because I thought it might be a video card driver issue; It is still locking up. I went as far as to purchase a brand new laptop hard drive and the problem still arises. There is no BSOD. As noted earlier, the computer just simply freezes. I cleared CMOS....240M GT VGA is running factory settings....I tried leaving only 1 ram stick in the laptop. I never ran through a problem like this before.
I ran it on Safe Mode and the computer seems to be working fine as long as I do simple tasks or remain idle. I did the SFC /SCANNOW in safe mode and it locks up. I attached my event view file to this email. (I tried to install RivaTuner to underclock factory settings, but the program could not load).
I have an Aspire E5-411... I like many others am experiencing the same issue. A "sound" notification would not work for me. I went to the Windows 8.1 site and saw someone ask the very same question about his Acer a few months ago. The Rep. at the Windows site told him that that feature was locked and he would have to contact his OEM (in this case Acer) how this feature could be unlocked. Is this true? I need to be able to see a caps lock notification.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using this small utility for caps lock on a 5742 using W7 Pro and it works well. The 5742 doesn't have a caps lock light or indicator built into from Acer, so one have to come up with something.
This program will place a red "x" or green "check" in the taskbar letting you know if you're in caps lock and will also produce a small "beep" after a few letters typed in if in caps lock.
