Acer Aspire E15 :: Set Numlock To Default (ON) At Start Up
Feb 4, 2015
I have just bought an Aspire E15 Laptop, its working well so far, but I'm just setting the 'fiddly bits'. Can I set the numlock to default to 'ON' at start up? A minor point but just starting to annoy me!

The number keys on the right are locked and I cant use them. When I press the numlock key it just beeps and a pad lock open and shut on the screen. I bought this laptop especially for these number keys.
Looking for a Boot Disk or Start up disk for an Aspire 4720Z or a place to download one. She has been doing finals etc for the past week without it at college.
I am still on a long learning curve operating my PC. After refreshing my Aspire E1-570. Windows to remove malware, I had to reinstall all my new apps & software which deleted . After doing that I received a message to create a recovery file to factory default file on a USB. When I tried to do there was message that new apps & software would be deleted. Can I create a recovery file without having to re-install all new apps & software again.
I have an Acer Aspire 5741-5698 running Windows 7. I never want to connect to the internet wirelessly. I only want to connect rarely with a wired connection. I can disconnect the wireless by pressing Fn+F3 but I never see a "Launch Manager". The problem is when I turn off the computer and turn it back on, it defaults to connect wirelessly. I went to Manage Wireless Networks in Control Panel and selected Manually Connect to my home Network. That did not work. How can I stop it from connecting automatically wirelessly?
I Just bought the Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black edition. I live on the 10 key pad and it's frustrating that it needs to be turned on everytime I log in. I've been on "chat" with tech support and they said it can't be done without calling for paid support. I've tried regedit but I must not be entering the right choice.
When I go to the Backup and Recovery, and I have not yet created a factory default disc, to do so... it does not do that. How can I create a factory default disc?
1) My Start Page in Internet Explorer gets reset to some old value 2) The setting to change the default printer when I change network is switch off and a fixed printer is set as the default.
Is it possible to disable these annoying features?
I have an Aspire 2920 laptop with Windows Vista Home Edition O.S. It starts and works fine except that after I was using it with an external monitor (a flat screen tv) on the option to use external monitor, it only now starts thinking the monitor is the flat screen tv and does not recognizes the normal laptop screen. The laptop screen is now "pixeled" and only shows like 2/3 of its total width. I've checked in Control Panel and it has the flat screen registered as the "normal" monitor, but I can not way a find to tell the computer that the monitor is the same as usual and not the flat screen tv.
I bought this new acer E5-771-378y , windows 8.1 and I want to get it all set up for him before Chrismas. Why can I not use a dvd disk for the recovery restore disk? It keeps telling me to insert a 16 gb usb. I don't have a free USB to use and I would prefer to put it on disks like I have done for every other computer I have owned.

I am going to chronicle my experience with this issue. I have an Acer V7-482PG-9884 with an Intel 7260 AC wireless card running Windows 8.1 which was upgraded from Windows 8. Every 20-30 minutes, and sometimes more frequently, the internet connection drops while still connected to Wifi. Upon running the auto fix within internet explorer, Microsoft identifies the issue as a "The Defaul Gateway is Not Available." The internet connection is reset, and everything works fine for another 15-30 minutes whereby the issue repeats.
I've tried everything, switching to a different Intel Card 6205, using each and every driver available from Intel, nothing seems to properly remedy the issue. This includes playing with the power settings, turning off and on bluetooth, etc.
This is a known and widespread issue with Acer, Intel, and Microsoft.

I have a Acer E1 522-3657 computer, which my son set-up for me but did not make the recovery disc(s). The unit is just outside of the warranty period when the hard drive failed. The hard drive just makes a clicking noise and after the logo screen appears it goes to a blue screen with a box that has the following message with in, "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed. Insert recovery Media and Hit any key.....Then Select 'Boot Manager' to choose a new Boot Device or to Boot Recovery Media.
I have installed a brand-new Western Digital 1T Sata3 harddrive to replace the Toshia 750 GB original Drive. After turning the computer on and at the logo screen I press and hold F2, this takes me to the InsydeH20 Setup Utility Screen. I see under the "Information" menu that the installed harddrive model and serial number appear. I see in the "Boot" menu, Boot Mode: "UEFI" and Secure Boot: "Enabled".
Under the "Exit" menu, Exit Saving Changes is highlighted. When I press F10 a "setup Configuration" box appears asking to save configuration changes and exit now? "Yes" is highlighted to which I hit Enter and are returned to the "Default Boot Device.......page. I then hit ecs twice and are at a black screen with the message No bootable device -- Please Restart system_appearing in the upper left corner of the screen. I then push and hold the power button until the computer shuts off.
I have ordered from acer the "Acer E-recovery Media Disc Set", which is specific to the SNID of my computer. I have not attempted to format the new hard drive in any way. I assume the E-recovery Media Disc Set will handle that operation due to the multiple partitions required.
In view of the above situation, do I need to set up the computer in any way before I start to utilize the E-recovery Media Disc set. I assume the Media will be on CD's. The computer was running Win 8.0 which was updated to Win 8.1 and was running very well, very stable.
Acer V5, spilled coffee on keyboard. no problem at first, then lockup, and on restart get the No Boot Device or Boot Failed. Am using my old laptop now. Can I get a download, save it to thumb drive, and use it to restart/reboot my Acer?
My Acer Aspire V 15 VN7-591G-757V not starting it's fans when under load, causing it to overheat. Updating the chipset driver and reinstalling the acer power management somehow fixed the problem for two restarts, but today I had the same problem again.
Will not start but I can hear the fan start then stop after a couple of secs, also the power and hdd leds flash on for 4 secs and then off for 4 secs and keep looping.
But then if I press the on/off button to turn the machine off it will not turn off, even holding the button for 4 secs or more. The only way to turn it off is by disconnecting the battery.
Nothing is connected and nothing appears on the screen.
I am the owner of a ACER ASPIRE 5685.After a battery charge the notebook doesn;t start. The green light of power starts I hear the fan but after some seconds the fan stops and the green light is still green. The display is black from the beggining.
From the time I hit the start button to when the task bar telling me I am connected to broadband and all set to go is approximately 6 minutes . Then maybe 1 minute for internet explorer browser to start, also windows email about one & half to 2 minutes to get going.I have Vista basic,
I have aspire 5720 bought in 2007. It stopped suddenly. On pressing power button start up light comes on which stays about 5 sec and switches off. Tried with and without battery but same. Fan starts and in a se laptop is off. I have removed HDD and put it back and same to ram. Also did power reset by holding on power button for a minute without battery plugged in but no luck.
I just bought a brand new Acer R7-572-6805. When I press power button nothing happens if AC adapter is not plugged in. I would expect laptop to start/boot because the battery inside is brand new and fully charged.
Also, I'm worried that nothing happens when I press for 4-10 seconds a battery-reset button on the bottom of the laptop in a small hole in the middle (I use paperclip).
1. Update BIOS to the newest version 2.04. Note: during flashing new BIOS version the orange LED didn't blink but shined! 2. Tightened all screws on a casing. 3. Replaced a charger. 4. Pressed batter-reset button. 5. Pressed power button for more than 10 seconds while AC adapter was plugged in, was not plugged in and when battery was not plugged in too. 4. Reinserted battery many times. 5. Checked voltage of a battery. Two cells showed 3.11V and the other two cells showed 3.81V. I manually charged the first 2 to 3.78 so that all 4 cells have similar voltage. The proper voltage makes me think that the battery is fully charged.
Other observations: 1. When AC adapter is plugged in then the orange LED is blinking (it seems to indicate that the battery is low) after approximately 6 seconds from pressing power button, i.e. from start. It doesn't change if I go to BIOS or go on with Windows boot. 2. When battery detached then the orange LED does not shine at all. 3. When AC adapter is plugged in then laptop starts. 4. Windows 8.1 is installed. The first time I used the laptop I plugged AC adapter in, powered on the laptop and went on with the installation. 5. Wall AC outlet provide 230V in my country (in contrast to 110V in US, but it shouldn't matter becuase the charger is capable of working in both systems according to its specification).
My boyfriends computer has "crashed" after he tried some "optimizing" last night.
When at the login page, it freezes before it is possible to write the password so access to the computer is not possible.
Has checked F2 at boot and D2D is set to be enabled.
When I click Alt+F10 at boot up, it says "wait a minute" where after it loads the windows 8 layout, not the erecovery tool as shown in the video by acer.
How can I check in the bios whether the recovery partition is corrupt or what else to do?
I have a problem with my Acer V5-573, 6 months old.
Some days ago it did not start when pressing the start button. I removed the charger and tried again, still nothing. Then i removed the backside to get access to the battery. I removed the battery and tried connecting just the charger.
That causes the laptop to start for 2 seconds like normally, the fans start for like 1 second and then just shuts down and the start button wont work again. This happens every time I connect the charger and it's off battery.
Sometimes when I press the start button and works and starts like it should and then at a random time it shuts down once again. Mostly it just doesnt react to the start button.
I haven't replaced or modified the original hardware.
About three months ago I was using my laptop and it was working fine and I closed it and set it aside, not plugged in. My power settings were that nothing happened other than the screen turns off when I close the lid. Well the next day I went to use my laptop and i opened it and hit the power button but it was dead, so I plugged it in and pressed the power button and still nothing happened. The only way I can turn the laptop on is to use the small battery reset button on the back of the computer. Once it turns on it starts up no problem, nothing out of the ordinary. When I use it and try to shut it down regardless of whether I press the power button or go to the power button on the menu to shut it down it goes through the shutdown and the monitor shuts off for about 3 seconds and then the computer turns back on.
I have done everything I can think of to get the computer to work. I have reinstalled windows 8.1 from a disk after completely restoring my laptop. I opened the computer up and disconnected the battery for a few minutes, I tried to start the laptop in safe mode, I reinstalled the BIOS, I have run all the troubleshooting and run windows update to make sure everything is up to date.
I have a acer aspire 5520 with the following problem: when I start him take fan rotate the battery light comes on, but also nothing. He continues then just restart and should I remove the battery to stop this.
I recently upgraded the CPU in my Acer Aspire 3050-1150 to a Turion XL-56. The first bootup was a breeze, and Windows Vista Home Basic recognized the new chip no problem. Temps ended up being cooler than before the upgrade.
Later that day, comp just shut down. I tried to reboot...comp started but shut off a second or two into loading windows. Next boot attempt the on/off switch wouldn't work at all...appeared dead. I waited a few minutes, took out the AC adapter and windows booted. Next time at bootup, similar pattern, but wouldnt boot even with the AC adapter taken out. This time it booted with the battery out and AC in.
Similar pattern at every bootup...false starts, shuts down at various points, but then eventually boots up after several attempts. I have just been leaving it on, in sleep mode when not in use. I am very afraid of doing a windows update which requires a reboot, so I haven't been doing that.
