I have tried:
1) Disabling Adaptive Brightness
2) Turning the brightness settings to max
3) Trying the brightness settings in the Intel Graphics configurator
The laptop is much darker than any other laptop i've ever had. I have a Yoga 2 and a Macbook Retina 13 that are both much brighter. Its very hard to see ....

I've been on "chat" with tech support and they said it can't be done without calling for paid support. I've tried regedit but I must not be entering the right choice.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a acer aspire 4720 couple of months bank. the machine was going great only till a day back. yesterday i started facing strange problems. as soon as i plugged in the charger cord ( while the machine was running), the display used to go dark... well i then used my laptop without the charger cord plugged in. After an hour or so, the display went completely dark....as in the display lights just went off.. u can still see the stuff on screen if u hold the laptop under some light source...but the lcd back lights are not glowing......i put in hard earned money in buying that laptop....

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just bought (came in yesterday) a brand new aspire v 15 nitro and now it often freezes and crashes/shuts down at boot-up. I turn it on i get the acer boot up screen and then it stops and after a minute or so and shuts down.
I have done some things to it:
-partitioned the hdd (150/800 GB)
-updated windows
-checked for updates through acer care center (only one intel update)
-installed: steam, origin (EA), firefox, openoffice, winrar, viper (plagiarism scanner wich i used on my previous pc) and a couple of games
-uninstalled mcafee
I did not change any strange settings, like disabling apps from start-up except for steam.
Recently bought a Acer Aspire Nitro v15 with windows 8.1 with a qualcomm atheros ar5bwb222 wireless network card. The connection is really unstable and often disconnects and have very few bars. This is not from the router since the connection on my phone and other computers are fine. The connection (when i have it) is also really slow compared to when i use my phone on the same network. I tried updating the drivers but it says my latest drivers are installed. Could this be a Windows 8.1 problem? this is my first time owning a windows 8.1 computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I have purchased the Acer v15 Nitro Black Edition gaming notebook. Though I've noticed that not very intensive games are stressing my CPU to about 80-90C, which I am not entirely certain is the norm. This seems to happen primarily when the laptop is plugged in, as temps seem relatively stable when unplugged. I recently turned my CPU power down a bit (to 96%), and that has seemed to keep my temps relatively stable.
I guess my question is: Is this normal? I feel like those temps are way too high, and I fear of burning out my CPU. I am going to pickup a cooling pad today, and start using it when I play games. I am relatively certain my fans are working, but my CPU temps jump around quite a bit. I know gaming laptops are built to get hot, but the last thing I want is to burn my new toy.
I just recently picked up an Aspire V 17 Nitro and imediately installed Windows 7 on it. Everything is working pretty well so far but I noticed the function keys are not working. The ones where you hold down the "Fn" key and then do thing like adjust the volume.

When i try to run a game it will gradually drop fps until it shuts down from overheating. I tried to fully discharge it and disconnect it from the battery to identify the hardware and then set it to standard in the bios, then it works. But the moment I shut down the computer it is the same thing over again. I don't want to do said process everytime I start my laptop..

I have a HP HDX 16 1160-US and a while back, my screen went all of a sudden dark but if I put my face very close to the screen, I could see the desktop icons and start button. I looked around on the internet for possible reasons that this happened. One of the solutions was to change the lcd inverter, therefore I changed it. Once i turned the laptop on with the new lcd inverter, the laptop displayed everything alright, but after I turned it off and on, the screen went dark again. I searched some more on the internet and found another solutuon and that was to change the backlight. To me it made sense to change it because thats where the whole lighting comes from, so I changed that too, but unfortunately that didn't work either. I didn't know what else I should do after this point so I called HP to see if I can give it to them to repair it but they don't have parts anymore for my laptop.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just purchased this model from my local Best Buy, and after having valiantly turned down their $150 set-up fee, I decided to try my hand at making the recover disks myself. Obviously, I failed miserably.
Here's my problem: using the eRecovery program on the laptop, I've tried burning a default factory disk using several types of CD's and DVD's but each time, the program rejects my disks and asks for a blank one. The error code that comes up is Error 0x205.
I've looked at the Acer Europe website, but I have not come to any conclusion as to how to fix this problem. My software seems to be up to date but could it be a faulty optical drive?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've recently bought an Acer Aspire 6930G and am overall very pleased with it.
However, in the few weeks since i've bought it there has been one concern I have had.
Whenever the laptop is unplugged from the mains, it starts to make a faint buzzing sound. The sound seems to come from the 'tube' near the subwoofer on the back (where the power socket is on one side, and the Kensington Lock is on the other side). The buzzing also only seems to be coming from the right side of the laptop above the number pad.
What is also strange is that i am able to stop the buzzing by tipping the laptop sideways or moving the screen. This seems to indicate that something might be vibrating, but again only when the power cord is unplugged?
Like i say, i don't think its enough to take the laptop back (unless somebody tells me differently), but i am concerned enough to ask on here if anyone with the same or similar laptop has any ideas as to why this might be happening.

I think it's problem with LCD cable, but warranty period has timed out.
Yesterday, after just a month of ownership, the display panel on my ThinkPad Yoga S1 became defective. All of a sudden, when I undocked it (after shutting down normally), the only thing that appeared on the display was a whitish image containing a dark grey vertical band (left), which happens to be the Lenovo splash screen background! The laptop runs perfectly fine when docked because it attaches to an external monitor. I tried fiddling with the Yoga's display panel, rotating through its various configurations and, after a while, a partial windows screen did appear although it flickered and, even still, nothing displayed properly in that left most vertical strip! View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently formatted my Acer Aspire 5935G and downloaded and installed all drivers from the Acer website. I currently am experiencing the following probs:
1. The Acer PowerSmart Button is not working (cannot find drivers / application to make it work)
2. Cannot switch from the onboard video card (Intel) and the "discrete" one which is an ATI Radeon Mobility 4570 HD
- Both video cards are installed
Current OS - Vista Ultimate x86 SP1
A few days ago I fired up my dv6 Pavilion 3240us and it did something weird. The colors are sort of out of whack. Bright white area show as Cyan and dark areas (black) are a sort of Burgundy or deep red. I can adjust the contrast down a little and the brightness down to -13 and the cyan mostly goes away, but the dark areas are even more more red.
I update the Catalyst app and drivers and did a complete update of Windows 7 (which took around 24 hours and it still wants more time) to no avail.
How did it happen? One day it was working perfectly and it shut down normally. The next day it was screwed up. Nothing happened to the machine between those times. I would show you pictures but I've found that screenshots of it look normal on other machines, eg: my desktop.
At one point yesterday when I tried playing a game on it the problen suddenly cleared up. That lasted for a few minutes before reverting the the screwed up state.
I am writing this on it; it does work. But trying to look at videos or most pictures or games it looks really wild, many times too strange to see what's going on.
