I just purchased a led screen for my xps m1530 that came with regular ccfl lcd. I purchased a lid, bezel, and cable, too.
But the cable has a blue connector that looks like it would connect to the inverter.
Is there actually an inverter board that goes just below the led lcd screen? If so, does anyone know the part number?

I replaced the inverter but it still flickers and then goes black while its booting up.
How can I tell if this is the back light or if this is the lcd itself? I've heard the backlight is hard to replace and I might have to take it somewhere to have it done which would cost $$ .....

i have had a lot of problems with my display since august. although i didn't notice at the time, it happened soon after i installed the Win 7 RC.
when i start the laptop up the screen looks all distorted and the colours arent correct:

but when i take screencaps and connect it to another monitor everything looks fine.

i assumed the screen was knackered, but i installed a game a few weeks ago and it brought the display back to life, only for it to look crap again when i restarted. this also happened when i did a clean install of vista, only for the display to go bad when the updates installed.
i have tried many times, but have been unable to replicate this...............
Alright Well I bought a new inverter plugged it in and it still is doing the same thing. Only when i jiggle the wires the light goes on and i see the screen but not for long. I check for loose conncections but can't find any. The external display is fine. I'm wondering if it could be the actual bulb.

I cleaned screen with foam and some foam flow under the screen frame, where the LCD inverter is. 1/3 of the screen (lower part) started to shudder (horizontal stripes appeared) and after some time this part stay brighter than other 2/3 upper part of the LCD. Motions on the brighter part are slow, mouse arrow movement is like in jelly. Text is hard to read. See added photo about LCD. Is it a LCD problem or inverter problem? What component needs replacement?

I have a Dell 17" laptop and the screen shows this blueish green vertical on startup.
After a few minutes of warming up the line goes away and the screen looks normal. The line reappears on reboot though.

The inverter flaked out in my Inspiron 6000, so I ordered a new "compatible" (same part number/specs, different design) inverter, which does work, only if the LCD is outside of the chassis.
Once the LCD is placed back into the chassis, something grounds and the inverter does not work. Once I take the screen back out of the chassis, it works fine. I'm not sure what could be grounding it or causing it not to work

If I turn of my laptop and restart it, the display will come on for a second ( but it is a little bit reddish) and then I hear a noise and it light goes off, and I can;t see anymore. However, I am sure the computer is still running properly
I am sure that the computer is on, and is functioning properly for two reasons:
1- if it is sunny, i can see my desktop, and what ever I have open, be that a browser, a word document, so on and so forth
2-when i connect my laptop to an external display everything is fine...
I have a problem with my E1405 with its lcd backlight turned off about 1 second after opening the lid.
I can still see Windows running when I look really closely.
According to what I've read it's most probably a faulty inverter. So I bought a replacement off eBay and installed it
At first the screen was lightly flickering once in a while and it became more and more frequent. Then it started to get black, more and more black. Within 2 days it became completeley black Now it is impossible to see anything even using a flashlight it seem completely dead.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe bottom left part of screen has two through bolts holding the hinge to the screen on my dv5000t.
At first the screen died as I closed the screen and discovered it had broke. This pulled out the display cable, the one from the motherboard. After I plugged it back in all was fine, except my screen was half attached.
So... I took apart the screen and through bolted the hinge to the lid, just below the LCD screen. I noticed a film behind the LCD that is attached to the hinges. I also noticed grounding plates on the inverter. Is the foil part of the grounding for the inverter or screen?
I have quadrupled check the connections. The Wifi LED still works, so I figured the ground is working but I don't know if it has it's own source. I am typing from the computer right now as it is hooked up to another screen.
I think its the inverter as there is nothing on the screen but pitch black even with a flashlight. Does anyone know how much voltage is suppose to come out so I can test it with a voltmeter?
I am sure there is something I did to screw it up, but I was delicate and don't understand how the inverter could have died just like that if it was working just fine.
I've had my M1530 for a few months now and have always been a little bothered with not getting the LED LCD screen.
I have the regular high res (1440 x 900) LCD. When I bought it I had a lot of the options maxed out and I've been reading recently that the LED LCD is supposed to have more even lighting, brighter, uses less power, thinner, and is lighter.
I know how expensive it would be and that doesn't really bother me, but am I just worried about having the best or is it a good idea to upgrade?
I tried using my M1530 on the train today with battery power and the screen just went red. Well all the black bits went red anyway. In every program, even at the boot screen.
So I'm guessing it's a hardware problem not a software problem as I haven't changed any drivers or installed any new software lately.
I have a Dell XPS M1530 and have a big crack in the LCD screen I would like to get replaced. (it is like a spiderweb crack under the clear part that now has what resembles "ink" leaking out of the cracks) After 3 hours on the phone, Dell tells me I need part #c930c, which is "15.4WxGA+LCD service kit for M1530." The problem is that the part is out of stock and they have "no idea" when they will get more in and it could be "months.

However now when the laptop turns on for the first time I can see the display for maybe 1-5 seconds (5 on initial start, less on soft restarts), but then it goes dim again.
I have tried unplugging AC/Batt and holding power for 20 seconds but it made no difference.
I replaced this board and display worked for approx. one day, now no display again, notebook still diplays fine on external monitor.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy neighbor asked me to take a look at his zd7000. When we power it on, the screen turns on, but it stays black and displays nothing. If the laptop is hooked up to an external monitor it shows the graphics no problem on the external screen and still nothing on the LCD.
I took the the LCD apart and checked the ribbon cable to make sure it had a secure connection. That did not solve the issue.
My other idea is that the inverter is gone bad.
Do you guys think it is the inverter? Has anyone else had a similar issue?
I am looking for a reliable car power inverter for my 2007 Macbook Pro. My car has 2 power outlets (12V / 120W). I know there is a 15A fuse, so the maximum it can handle is 180W, but of course I do not want to take that risk and stay around the recommended 120W. Because of this, it limits the number of choices I have concerning power inverters. I have seen one from Duracell called the Pocket Inverter 100. Here are the specifications:
AC Output Power (Max Continuous): 80W
AC Output Power (Peak): 100W
AC Output Surge Capacity (Peak): 160W
AC Output Voltage (Nominal): 120V
AC Output Waveform: Modified Sine Wave
So, this leads to a few questions:
(1) The MBP Magsafe Adapter requires 85W. However, this inverter can provide only 80W of maximum continuous power. Will this be sufficient to charge and run the MBP in the car?
(2) I searched around and read a few posts by others regarding pure sine wave and how it is important to have it running to laptops. Now, this inverter has an output of a Modified Sine Wave. Will this be fine and will the Magsafe adapter be able to handle this?
(3) recommendations for car power inverters within these specifications?
I received my DELL XPS M1530 Last week. When i ordered my dell i made a dumb mistake and didn't select the higher resolution screens. Hence, at the moment my maximum IS 1280X800. I would really like to upgrade to a screen which supports a higher resolution as i use it for Gaming, GFX, editing as well watching movies. Does anyone have any recommendations of an LCD screen which is compatible with XPS M1530?

I currently have an XPS m1530 with the WXGA glossy screen (1280x800) and was looking to replace it with the WUXGA screen (nothing wrong with the current screen; just need more resolution.)
Questions:
1. Can I just do a simple swap? In other words, do I have to worry about details like video card etc.?
2. What are the questions that I need to ask before buying one? (e.g. Manufacturer, warranty, brightness, type etc.?)
3. Glossy vs non-glossy - please let me know your opinions
4. Would the ones sold on eBay (links below) work fine? .....
Back story first:
My original screen was an LG Philips LPL0301 - Dell P/N: NU763 (1280x800 - WXGA). I accidentally broke it (cracked from top to bottom) and decided to buy one from what seemed to be a decent site. I searched for it by the Dell part number (NU763) and was advertised as such on the site.
When I received it, I noticed they sent me a screen with a different brand name: AU Optronics! Based on the screen size I'm guessing it's an AU Optronics AUO2374 - Dell P/N: C931C.
I contacted the site's support department about the inconsistency and informing them they sent me the wrong LCD screen based on the Dell P/N and got a reply from someone speaking broken english .....
hope someone can help me here. Every time i turn on my laptop all i am getting is a blank screen on my laptop and my external monitor.
i am thinking of replacing the motherboard as the graphics card is aparrently soldered to it.Before i do this could the problem be any thing other than the card? I tried running dells screen diagnostic using the beep sound but there are no sounds at all and i cannot see any warnings or errors as all i have is blank screens.
Also if i change the motherboard when i switch it back on will i have video output straight away or will i have to configure anything first?

My DV2000, when power off the monitor is dark, when power on, the monitor lit/iluminated. But nothing on the screen. The harddrive led blinks so it's accessing.
I thought it was inverter so I replaced it with the $8+ from y'allstore. It didn't work.
