What could be the cause of this? Inverter or bad lcd?
At first the screen was lightly flickering once in a while and it became more and more frequent. Then it started to get black, more and more black. Within 2 days it became completeley black Now it is impossible to see anything even using a flashlight it seem completely dead.
I was told by a tech that the inverter board is dead.
I took the computer apart using help I found on the net and the Inverter board is finally in my hand
I’m trying to purchase a replacement but it is confusing.
The actual number on the board is PK070007U00-A00-6AH-02995
But when I go shopping on the net I only find reference for PK070007U00-A00
My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5630-6298
What represent the rest of the numbers 6AH-02995
how many different types of screen inverter there are for the dell latitude d520(15") as ive tried 2 different ones without success and i know the only fault is the inverter.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe bottom left part of screen has two through bolts holding the hinge to the screen on my dv5000t.
At first the screen died as I closed the screen and discovered it had broke. This pulled out the display cable, the one from the motherboard. After I plugged it back in all was fine, except my screen was half attached.
So... I took apart the screen and through bolted the hinge to the lid, just below the LCD screen. I noticed a film behind the LCD that is attached to the hinges. I also noticed grounding plates on the inverter. Is the foil part of the grounding for the inverter or screen?
I have quadrupled check the connections. The Wifi LED still works, so I figured the ground is working but I don't know if it has it's own source. I am typing from the computer right now as it is hooked up to another screen.
I think its the inverter as there is nothing on the screen but pitch black even with a flashlight. Does anyone know how much voltage is suppose to come out so I can test it with a voltmeter?
I am sure there is something I did to screw it up, but I was delicate and don't understand how the inverter could have died just like that if it was working just fine.
I have a DV9000 and the LCD suddenly went dim. I thought the inverter had gone so bought and fitted one. However now when the laptop turns on for the first time I can see the display for maybe 1-5 seconds (5 on initial start, less on soft restarts), but then it goes dim again.
I have tried unplugging AC/Batt and holding power for 20 seconds but it made no difference.
my HP ze4230 laptop Trying to reboot it with a new harddrive it went black on me with no warning.I put the old harddrive back in.Its still dark but I can see in the screen very faintly with a flashlight.I hooked it up to my desktop monitor and it worked well.My problem is,I took the inverter out but how can I tell if its bad or if its the backlight that is bad..
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy neighbor asked me to take a look at his zd7000. When we power it on, the screen turns on, but it stays black and displays nothing. If the laptop is hooked up to an external monitor it shows the graphics no problem on the external screen and still nothing on the LCD.
I took the the LCD apart and checked the ribbon cable to make sure it had a secure connection. That did not solve the issue.
My other idea is that the inverter is gone bad.
Do you guys think it is the inverter? Has anyone else had a similar issue?
I plug in my adapter and it turns on and all is well once I put it in the charging port to charge the battery of my computer the adapter shuts off immediately. The charging port on the computer is slightly cracked from a fall about a year ago but it recharged perfectly fine until now. I've had 2 other adapters go out on me the original and an aftermarket and now this one is acting up on me. After a bajillion trys if I get the charging prong at the exact right spot it'll charge the battery if I push it in too far it shuts off etc.... Is this a circuitry connection problem? Does it have something to do with the cracked charging port? Is it an electrical short? Is it another bad adapter? Is it a bad battery? Is it a bad "charging board"? Which of these is most likely the case?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've read the sticky and many threads here but I'm confused. What is the symptons of the backlight/inverter problems?
My DV2000, when power off the monitor is dark, when power on, the monitor lit/iluminated. But nothing on the screen. The harddrive led blinks so it's accessing.
I thought it was inverter so I replaced it with the $8+ from y'allstore. It didn't work.
I accidentally dropped my Compaq Presario C571NR and it fires up Ok, but the screen is black. I have tested the video card with other monitor and it seems to work fine. I did some research and I found that it could be that either the inverter board or the backlight might have gotten damaged. I have purched a new inverter card online (awaiting arrival) to replace the existing one, but I wanted to know if any of you know which of them has the propensity to get damaged first, the inverter or the backlight?
I'm hoping is the inverter because it seems the easiest to replace, but if it's the backlight, then I'm screwed because I've read it's quite difficult to replace and it's more expensive. Compaq says they'll charge me $300 to fix it (since my warranty has already expired) but I might as well get a new one if the new inverter doesn't fix the problem.
if anyone who has an HDX 16t-1200 could tell me what their system board ID is. You can find this out by going into your system BIOS on the main info page on the front it lists your system board id.
View 10 Replies View RelatedAlright Well I bought a new inverter plugged it in and it still is doing the same thing. Only when i jiggle the wires the light goes on and i see the screen but not for long. I check for loose conncections but can't find any. The external display is fine. I'm wondering if it could be the actual bulb.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an hp DV7-1135nr laptop. Recently there was an incident and one of my friends managed to throw up into my laptop while it was open and on. The computer was off before i could pull the battery and even after being cleaned and dried will not turn on, this leads me to believe that the system board has shorted out and needs to be replaced. Where can i find a replacement system board and how much should i expect to pay?
Seeing as how i have already taken the laptop apart, are there any upgrades I can do while replacing the sytem board? It has a 2.0 ghz dual core AMD
processor, and crappy integrated graphics. I was wondering if i would be able to purchase and install a better system board?
My friends HP just died today. It seems like the GF8400GS went busted. She's out of warranty so we need to find a solution. It seems like HP put their proprietary design GFX card inside their laptops.
View 10 Replies View RelatedHave a dv6000 with turion 64 X2 tl56 and 2 gigs ram. Running the latest F42 BIOS. Is this thing compatable with Win7 x64? It should be, anyone tried?
Lastly, is it confirmed that 2MB sodimms will NOT work on this thing? I'd like to upgrade, currently have 2x 1 GB sodimms, would like to try 2 GB sodimms if it would recognize them.
I had a friend bring me her HP DV6000 telling me it won't boot.
When the power switch is pressed, all the lights come on for about 4 seconds, then go off. The screen never initializes.
I have noticed that touching the pad near the on switch/speakers will have the same effect.
I popped the switch panel and it looks to be plugged in and all the wiring intact.
I borrowed a known good battery and charger and it makes no difference.
The existing battery and charger work fine in the other DV6000.
Is it possible I need a new switch or cable? or is the mainboard toast?
i was using my hp dv6000 laptop and tried to open a video file my system got rebooted instantly and after that I saw a crashed boot screen (HP logo was all distorted, vertical lines on that). Any way i went to the safe mode and uninstall the nvidia drivers, now its working fine with default windows vista home vga driver but the boot screen is still distorted. When i update the nvidia drivers the laptop refuses to go inside the windows.
Have to go to safe mode uninstall the driver and it starts working on default vga drivers.
A friend of my g/f gave me her computer to fix. She said she took it to Best Buy and they said her HD is messed up. Now, if I order a new drive and the restore disks from HP, will that fix this issue? She is not worred about losing any data. Is my thinking correct? Install new HD, put in restore disks, start it up and follow the directions.

I know she didn't do anything to it, all she does is go on Facebook.com and play FarmTown >_>
The Specs are:
Processor: AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58 @ 1.90GHz
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS
RAM: 2GB Major Brand Memory
thats all I know about it :/
CPU-Z
how good is that graphics card? I've never heard of it before -_-
My mom's HP dv6000 will not connect to any wireless networks. I thought the network adapter might be fried but last night for no reason after weeks or months of not working the light for the wireless switch was on and turned blue. Wifi card worked flawlessly until I left it off the charger for a few hours and it turned off. Upon rebooting its again broken. The wireless switch indicator led stays red in both the on and off poisition.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe speakers on my laptop are not working. The weird thing is the sound works when I plug in my headphones in either headphone jack (so that's good news, I suppose). But when I unplug the headphones, no sound.
Here's the thing; you know those media buttons that make that little beep whenever you touch any of them? Well, they work fine (volume up and down, mute, DVD and QuickPlay), but no beep sound from them either!
My 2 years old dv6000 display yesterday started to show a thin yellow vertical line about 2 inch from the right of the screen which run from top to bottom, and after a bit of googling, I found out it's unrepairable and I need to replace the screen
Anyway, after reading some of the threads on this forum, it seems to me that it's possible to replace the screen with a higher resolution one, albeit on dv9XXX ones. Has anyone done this upgrade on dv6XXX? And what screen (spare parts no/maker) did you get? Was there any 'misfit' with the hinge/panel/connector/inverter?
Vidcard=NVIDIA Go 7400
Screen =15.4" WXGA HighGloss BrightView
Screen max resolution=1280X800
So my dv6000 has finally suffered the death of the wireless adapter. I suppose the motherboard is next to go. It is beyond even the extended warranty for this problem by a couple of months.
Should I try to get HP to fix it under the extended warranty, or should I just forget it?
In either case I'll never buy another HP computer again.
Is there any free software out there that is better than Quickplay that comes on the notebook? The webcam works okay, but my wife just got a newer version of HP and her Cyberlink Youcam is nice, but not worth 30 bucks. Currently has Vista 32 bit.
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy dv6000 has a common problem, it just wont turn on anymore, it's starts up and shuts down with in 5 seconds and repeats until i turn it off - i'm gonna either strip it for parts or sell it as seen for spares/repair.
Two questions if you'll indulge me - is this the motherboard that's gone? Most pages online suggest this and getting a new motherboard is expensive and likely to go again i think. Secondly do you guys know where the bext place for new to try and sell it for spares is and what could i possibly expect from it with a bad mb?
I am having a few problems here with a dv6000. Firstly I need to point out that the power button on the machine is broken so the only way to start it is by using the quick launch keys and booting into Windows that way.
Ok, so I have been doing some routine work on my brothers machine, however, It was getting quite low on disk space on the C partition. When I originally set up his machine I created a C: and D: partition for his documents.
No problem, I thought and went into Partition Magic with the intention of removing a gig or two from D and relocating to the C partition. Of course though ,it failed and now I have about 2 gig of unpartition space.
Windows now tells me the Hal.dill is missing or corrupt. The funny thing though is that it still boots, it hangs for a few minutes on the error the restarts and boots fine and it only displays the message on a fresh boot, not on a restart.
I ran a chkdsk /p last night, but stupidly didn't run a chkdsk /r so that will be my first task tonight.
From what I have read its quite simple to re copy the hal.dill file but I am worried this may affect using Quick Launch the boot the machine.
