if anyone who has an HDX 16t-1200 could tell me what their system board ID is. You can find this out by going into your system BIOS on the main info page on the front it lists your system board id.
View 10 RepliesI have an hp DV7-1135nr laptop. Recently there was an incident and one of my friends managed to throw up into my laptop while it was open and on. The computer was off before i could pull the battery and even after being cleaned and dried will not turn on, this leads me to believe that the system board has shorted out and needs to be replaced. Where can i find a replacement system board and how much should i expect to pay?
Seeing as how i have already taken the laptop apart, are there any upgrades I can do while replacing the sytem board? It has a 2.0 ghz dual core AMD
processor, and crappy integrated graphics. I was wondering if i would be able to purchase and install a better system board?
I have several HP 8530p and I getting the num lock & cap lock leds blinking 5 times which indicates a general system board error. Bought new boards still getting the same issue. Note all the units will boot to windows fine, but there is a 10-15 sec delay in hard drive response when operating pc. The mouse is real time responsive but once you clink on a item the lag shows up. What to look for as the problem, CPU , Memory changed, Fans, Cooling system. Bios versions have been updated, I've torn the unit down, cleaned and added new thermal paste to CPU, GPU and added copper shims to promote better heat transfer. The system Diagnostics indicates hardware is ok.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is an old notebook. A Compaq Presario 1200 Series notbeook (1200 XL-101). When I plug in the power cable, the LED lights up, indicating it's plugged in - however absolutely nothing happens if I hit the power button.
I have tried this with or without the Battery in it. In the past this notebook was able to turn on WITHOUT any battery in it if it was plugged in; being directly powered by the power cable.
Does anyone have any input one where I can begin to fix this? I don't want to bring it in to a shop; I'd rather fix it myself. I'm handy with hardware so I can open and replace parts. I just don't know what is wrong with it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI plug in my adapter and it turns on and all is well once I put it in the charging port to charge the battery of my computer the adapter shuts off immediately. The charging port on the computer is slightly cracked from a fall about a year ago but it recharged perfectly fine until now. I've had 2 other adapters go out on me the original and an aftermarket and now this one is acting up on me. After a bajillion trys if I get the charging prong at the exact right spot it'll charge the battery if I push it in too far it shuts off etc.... Is this a circuitry connection problem? Does it have something to do with the cracked charging port? Is it an electrical short? Is it another bad adapter? Is it a bad battery? Is it a bad "charging board"? Which of these is most likely the case?

There are three short dashes under the connector but no + or - symbols. Does anyone know if this laptop has a center pin with positive polarity?

This 1200 was working several weeks ago, now it will not turn on even with AC adapter plugged in. Battery will not charge.
No green LED lit on laptop front. Unit will not boot with AC adapter attached and battery removed.
Checked AC adapter with multimeter and it appears working OK, get 19.5 volts dc output.
My HP Pavilion dvr-1200 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC has a huge problem. It will not display anything other than a set pattern of rotating block colors -it goes from red to blue to green to a shadow sort of grey with vertical lines, each lasting about ten seconds, than repeating over and over. You can hear the computer starting up, and you can get it to the start page by knowing when to press enter and when to scan your fingerprint; this is as far as I can get without seeing. I've had the problem for about two months; the unfortunate thing is after about a week, I decided to hook up a external monitor to it, and got a full picture, with everything but the screen display working great. Unfortunately, in excited haste, I decided it had to be a graphics driver issue, which would just mean an update or a completely new set of drivers. Great. But I accidentally deleted the drivers I had before I uploaded new ones, and the external screen I was using went blank.

Problem:Â When I am operating with Windows 8 they function normally, but upon updating to Windows 8.1 the AMD drivers fail to be able to initiate and D3D.

1.  Most current driver is dated 2013-01-14
2. Generic drivers do not recognize the hardware
3. Drivers for other HD 8xxx series based HP laptops do not resolve the problem

Current workaround: Open the Catalyst Control Center and go to switchable graphics application settings under the power tab. Switch anything that uses DirectX to run in power saving mode, this will run those applications using the intel 4000 graphics which has a more current driver that works with Windows 8.1.

Solution: For now I believe that the only solution is to wait for HP and Microsoft to work together on creating a newer driver. Once that newer driver is released it should resolve the problem. The other solution is to permanently stick to Windows 8 and not update to Windows 8.1. This is a bit more difficult though since Microsoft pushes 8.1 very aggressively.  There might be a way to make the notifications and automatic attempts to update stop, but I have not looked into that solution.

Mini Tool Partition software (3rd party) detects the hard drive OK.

Both Windows 8 DVD and MiniTool software detects the disk partition and its formated OK, but the error message appears to prevent it from installation.

Background
I upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows 7 and it worked for a 2 month, then I upgraded to Windows 8.1. After the system is upgraded and rebooted, the screen turn black. Â So I decided to re-install Windows 8.0. There is no SIM/SD card in the laptop.
Today I just rang Dell part sales department and was told the left I/O board which has 2 USB 3.0 port for Precision M6500 is available now. The price is 117 pound with one year warranty ! (about $175)

The computer turns on and I see the same image (sort of distorted) about 6 times

So my brother xps 1530 stopped working a couple months ago and we just got around to taking it to a local computer repair shop.
They took a look at it and determined that he needed a new mother board. he was quoted $400.

i got the New DC/USB power board today and installed it. Put everything back together and its still Dead. Could something else have been damaged. The old DC/USB board smelled burnt and it had a little smoke coming out by the board. Which led me to believe it had a short and burned up. Now I dont know what do do. Any suggestions to trouble shoot this? I allready got a now AC charger and battery so i know thats not it.
