I just purchased a 7800gtx for my 9300 IDE board. I then come to know that the new 9300 board comes with SATA.
My doubts are:-
1) Is this SATA board using the same Sonoma chipset?
2) Will the 7800gtx fit into this board?
3) Will the xps2 bios work on this board?
4) Do i need to buy extra hard drive caddy for SATA drive?
I'm hoping this is in the right area.
I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 It's upgraded about as far as it can go. I use a desktop for the occasional gaming or rendering but this is my daily driver.
The issue. I took it apart the other day to see if my screen hinge could be replaced and to install a DVD burner. Now it no longer recognizes the onboard/integrated keyboard. It still recognizes the touch pad but not the keyboard. I went as far to buy a whole new OEM keyboard. Still nada.

Ok i receive a laptop Dell Inspiron 9300 from a friend who has dropped it (well he says the kid knocked it off the couch and then to add insult to injury he followed it over and landed on it) well needless to say i diagnosed that the motherboard had failed as i ran the system from a barbones state to rule out any hardware failures. So i ordered a replacement board from the big old bad Ebay guy that hangs around the internet...So i rebuild the laptop plug it all in and turn it on.. so far so good i see the Dell logo and select to enter the bios to which i see "entering setup"... now instead of going into the setup i receive only this...
"The ac power adapter cannot be determined. The system can only boot with a 130w power adapter or greater" .....
Are the Dell 9300 HD's SATA or ATA-6? I'd like to upgrade my 9300 with a larger hard drive, somewhere around 100GB or so. Any recommendations? Do I just need to look for a laptop SATA drive 7200RPM or are there other specs I need to consider?
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy go 7800GTX has been dead for over 2 years now in my XPS M170. Now I thought I would try the "bake in oven" technique that a lot of people has done. Guess what the GPU is alive again. According to Dell diagnostics the memory failed. But baking it in the oven around 195+ degree celsius for 7 minutes solved the problem.
My old XPS M170 is up and running again, can't be more happy since I know how overpriced these GPU's are on Ebay.
So I upgraded my 9300's internals to an xps m170 motherboard and go 7800gtx and now when I turn the laptop on the screen is dim and does not get brighter when I hit Fn and the Arrow keys. Another problem is that when using 18fangui the temperature on the 7800gtx reads 00 and will not display a temperature

The link in post on this site "photo guide to install 7800GTX" does not work any longer. I have the 7800GTX installed in my 9300 with the 9300 revision 5 bios but it shows unknown video card in the bios Device Info screen.

So my brother xps 1530 stopped working a couple months ago and we just got around to taking it to a local computer repair shop.
They took a look at it and determined that he needed a new mother board. he was quoted $400.
question is if anyone knows of a good place to send it in to?
and has anyone else have had to do this and how much they charged you.
how many different types of screen inverter there are for the dell latitude d520(15") as ive tried 2 different ones without success and i know the only fault is the inverter.

I plug in my adapter and it turns on and all is well once I put it in the charging port to charge the battery of my computer the adapter shuts off immediately. The charging port on the computer is slightly cracked from a fall about a year ago but it recharged perfectly fine until now. I've had 2 other adapters go out on me the original and an aftermarket and now this one is acting up on me. After a bajillion trys if I get the charging prong at the exact right spot it'll charge the battery if I push it in too far it shuts off etc.... Is this a circuitry connection problem? Does it have something to do with the cracked charging port? Is it an electrical short? Is it another bad adapter? Is it a bad battery? Is it a bad "charging board"? Which of these is most likely the case?

The original hard drive started giving me errors last week, I backed up my important data just in time right before it gave up the ghost. I got a new hard drive, installed it without a hitch and reinstalled Windows XP.
Up till here all is good, I installed my video drivers, sound drivers, wireless drivers etc, all good. Then installed Zone Alarm and all fine as well but when ZA asks to reboot to continue install I clicked "reboot now", my M170 proceeded to shot down.... and it stayed down for good!!! it didn't reboot at all, so I pressed the power button and nothing, absolutely nothing...
I am thinking my motherboard might have died but not sure, I saw one on eBay for $140 or so, but how can I be sure if it is a dead motherboard? Would a bad CPU cause this apparently dead behavior as well? because I mean, it is like if it didn't have any power at all, no activity of any kind, or lights, full nothing when I press the power button.
My wife has an Inspirion 9300 which has same battery, I tested my battery on her lappy and it is fine..

I've been buying Nvidia's GO 7900 GS off ebay. some of them arrive here dead. the rest arrive, they work for 1 hour and then become like the rest, lines on the screen, color blinking, in windows, the Bios, and even in safe mode, I put my ATI back and everything works fine, only two of the 6 I got worked for like 1 hour, 1 just stopped working completely, and the other one that I bought a week ago worked for 1 hour then red flickers and pixels started appearing on the screen then it got messed up completely like the pictures show.
Is it possibble that its the mainboard, or any short, and why just Nvidias and not the ATI. I think I just have bad luck with the cards I bought.
i have an dell inspirion n5110, the model with processor i3, and 500 gb hdd and last night the laptop was turned off and when i try to turn on return with 3 short beeps. The screen went extremely dim permanently one day when the battery reached its near absolute low. For some reason the screen came back to a brightly lit life after a system restore. The same problem occurred again and sadly after sitting on it a few weeks I did not have a restore point old enough to troubleshoot with the same solution.
Now I'm not sure if system restore really had anything to do with the monitor crapping out because I've never heard of such a scenario, but I'm just going to throw it out there on the off chance that it does .....
My daughters Acer 3680 just stopped working. I purchased a new AC adapter and it still doesnt turn on. The battery is new. Im guessing its the power jack that needs replaced. To avoid soldering Ill purchase the whole DC/USB board

I need step by step instructions on how to dissasemble the notebook. I got it mostly apart but i just can seem to separate the thing in half to access the DC/USB board. Any online resources, videos, manuals that would show this process of dissasembly?

i've sent my computer for repair because it doesnt shutdown properly. it turns out the something is wrong with the board and they have to replace it. the service center is going to order a new board from acer. do you think with the replacement of the new board the throttling problems on 6920g will disapppear?

View 3 Replies View Relatedi got the New DC/USB power board today and installed it. Put everything back together and its still Dead. Could something else have been damaged. The old DC/USB board smelled burnt and it had a little smoke coming out by the board. Which led me to believe it had a short and burned up. Now I dont know what do do. Any suggestions to trouble shoot this? I allready got a now AC charger and battery so i know thats not it.

The computer was off before i could pull the battery and even after being cleaned and dried will not turn on, this leads me to believe that the system board has shorted out and needs to be replaced.
