Lenovo ThinkPad W Series :: W530 - No Recognition Connecting To Samsung Smart TV
Jun 10, 2014Im having issues trying to connect my computer to my smart tv. I have a new samsung smart tv and a thinkpad w530. I also have a 15ft mini displayport to HDMI cable (NOT converter just cable) from monoprice I just got in the mail today. Set windows 8 up to duplicate the screen. Neither the computer or the monitor can recognize that they are connected to something else.

EDIT: want to add specifically what I have tried. I tried changing graphics mode to discrete in BIOS. Have set up screen to duplicate, not extend or anything. Fixed resolution of separate screens back to normal (when I set to multiple monitors it shoots me down to the lowest one). I also checked (via the control panel) for new NVIDIA drivers. It said i already had the latest. Im having a hard time finding the specific driver I need for the displayport for thr w530.Â

I think what I have tried to far will make sure it works once I get it to recognize the TV. But it hasn't done anything to make me recognize the tv. I want this to work very badly!
Lenovo X230 X Series ThinkPad :: Connecting To Philips Miracast Enabled Smart TV
Jan 11, 2014I have a new X230 which came with Intel WiDi installed. I am trying to connect it to a Philips Smart TV which the folks at Philips tell me should work with WiDi.  The TV is Miracast enabled.

When I run the Intel WiDi software, the Philips TV appears as an available device. When I click to connect, the software asks for a PIN number and at the same time a PIN number appears on the TV screen. I enter this in the box provided by the software. There is a pause of 15 - 45 seconds, and then there is a message on the TV : "Step 2/2.  Connected. Starting playback." This is quickly replaced by a message on the TV "Failed to playback". The WiDi software remains at the "Connecting..." screen.

I feel I am pretty close to getting this to work, but not sure what to do to actually succeed.Â

Acer :: Inverter Board
Nov 17, 2009At first the screen was lightly flickering once in a while and it became more and more frequent. Then it started to get black, more and more black. Within 2 days it became completeley black Now it is impossible to see anything even using a flashlight it seem completely dead.
I was told by a tech that the inverter board is dead.
I took the computer apart using help I found on the net and the Inverter board is finally in my hand
I’m trying to purchase a replacement but it is confusing.
The actual number on the board is PK070007U00-A00-6AH-02995
But when I go shopping on the net I only find reference for PK070007U00-A00
My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5630-6298
What represent the rest of the numbers 6AH-02995

I need step by step instructions on how to dissasemble the notebook. I got it mostly apart but i just can seem to separate the thing in half to access the DC/USB board. Any online resources, videos, manuals that would show this process of dissasembly?

Dec 17, 2009i've sent my computer for repair because it doesnt shutdown properly. it turns out the something is wrong with the board and they have to replace it. the service center is going to order a new board from acer. do you think with the replacement of the new board the throttling problems on 6920g will disapppear?

Jan 3, 2009i got the New DC/USB power board today and installed it. Put everything back together and its still Dead. Could something else have been damaged. The old DC/USB board smelled burnt and it had a little smoke coming out by the board. Which led me to believe it had a short and burned up. Now I dont know what do do. Dec 26, 2009I'm having probs connecting wireless my Acer Aspire 8730. I had this issue 5 days into buying this laptop. It seems to be an intermittant problem as sometimes it connects fine but other times it doesn't. Sometimes it finds other available networks but not my router. Comet sent the laptop back to Acer who insist there's not a problem with the network card. I did find a setting on my router for extended range that we have checked but the problem still persists. If I connect via the ethernet cable then no problems but if I sit the laptop next to the router it still doesn't connect wireless. It seems to have completely lost the plot over Christmas and can now find absolutely nothing wirelessly. I could try changing the router but I'm a bit loathed to do this as we have aother laptop that runs fine via my router. I'm not sure where to go from here as I know both Comet and Acer will deny there's a problem.

Acer Aspire 5520 :: Not Connecting To Wireless Network
Dec 2, 2014I just got a Aspire 5520 from a friend. Before I restored it to factory i was able to connect to my secure wireless network. Now that i have restored it, I can connect but then the enet mangatment will connect but then disconnect. but the windows icon says its connected. but it will not get past my router or anything and if i try to acess my router from my aspire it will not load the page. my router is fine i have several other devieces connected to it that have no problem. I have checked my router settings to make sure the settings in the comp is right i have a wpa2-personal with a apk securtiy. the router itslef is a belkin n600. since this machine is not under warrenty i cann't ask acer support. Â Also i can connect to any unsecured with no problem

Jan 27, 2014I have a Western Digital 1TB USB 3.0 external drive. I am connecting it to the correct (blue) USB 3.0 port on my Acer Aspire 5755-6647 laptop which runs Windows 7 x64.

Upon connection, I get the "This device can perform faster:Â This USB Mass Storage Device can transfer information faster if you connect it to a Super-Speed USB 3.0 port" message. When copying files off the drive, I get about 32 MB/s, which corresponds to USB 2.0 speeds.

I have tried disabling USB power management in the USB 3.0 Host Controller Utility. I have tried uninstalling the device and reinstalling it. The cable I am using came with the drive and is a USB 3.0 cable. I have the newest Renesas USB 3.0 driver installed (2.0.34.0). I have also tried using an older Renesas driver. My BIOS is up to date (P5WE0121).

The first time I connected this drive to my laptop, it was on a USB 2.0 port (I had for some reason misremembered which side of the laptop had the 3.0 port and didn't check for blue). As I said, though, I've uninstalled the device completely. I suspect that Windows may be "remembering" the device and installing it with the 2.0 driver.

Fine for all I need but I would love to upgrade the memory. I see it says it can only go up to 1 gig and that it has 256 as standard.

Mar 8, 2009I was given an Acer TravelMate 2300 by someone who has a new one. It came with no guarantees and no recovery CD. It had working verison of XP Pro on it through SP2. I applied SP3 and several updates. It worked good until... I noticed that the C drive was formatted FAT32. So I thought it a good idea to move it to NTFS. Without checking, I fired in "convert c: /fs:ntfs". It rebooted and after a brief look at the Windows XP splash, it goes straight to a stop code x0000024 BSOD. There was nothing on the drive except for the OS so I was felt OK withjust reinstalling from my media.
I dragged out my copy of XP pro slipstreamed with SP2. Booted from CD, went through XP's native setup and detected an "unknown" partition where C used to be. I must've really slammed it. I chose to install to the unknown partition and XP offered to format it NTFS. I chose the thorough format option but it goes only to 24% and stops. The display still shows the progress bar, blue background etc. at 24%.
Since I don't have much experience with laptops, let me ask, is it possible that this laptop/drive ONLY formats to FAT or FAT32 and won't take an NTFS volume? If it will, are there any ideas out there how to apply and NTFS format so I can get this cute little laptop back to a usable state?

Every time I restart, the network card is disabled by default.
On very few occasions, the network card disables itself when surfing the internet.
I tried:
Disabling other network cards
Going to Device Manager, NIC, Untick "Allow the computer to turn off..."
Scan for malware/viruses using AVG 8.0
Conclusion:
Still it doesn't work!
