Wonder if anyone has upgraded to windows 7 x64 Home Premium and got the powersmart key working on this model? I have downloaded and installed the powersmart manager from the acer website but it has made no difference.
View 4 RepliesI have a 5738z and upgraded to windows 7. I had to do a clean install as I upgraded to x64 Win7 from x86 vista to use the 4gb of RAM the machine has. The upgrade went fine, no problems. All drivers installed fine and the machine runs great. My problem is that the ePower button will not work no matter what I try (it's the P button on other models) and it wont light up green. I've used the Acer upgrade disk, which installed the launch manager software, but the button still wont work.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently formatted my Acer Aspire 5935G and downloaded and installed all drivers from the Acer website. I currently am experiencing the following probs:
1. The Acer PowerSmart Button is not working (cannot find drivers / application to make it work)
2. Cannot switch from the onboard video card (Intel) and the "discrete" one which is an ATI Radeon Mobility 4570 HD
- Both video cards are installed
Current OS - Vista Ultimate x86 SP1
I have a Problem with the Acer Powersave mode. When I switch on the power save mode, the brithness decrease to 30% I can change the brightness but after restart the value is 30% again. Anyone knows how to change the brithness default value in power save mode?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust bought an Inspiron 17R SE 7720 with a 32gb SSD. Started it up today and completed the 'setting up windows' bit. Opened up 'Intel Rapid Storage Technology' and it can see both of my 750gb HDD, and the 32gb SSD but there is no 'accelerate' tab available.
Incidentally, when I click on My Computer, I can also see both 750gb HDD and  32 GB SSD- i though the latter  was not supposed to be visible here.  Under 'Computer management' the SSD has an 8gb 'Hibernation' partition and a second usable partition.
Having read numerous posts about this already, I have checked in the Bios that Intel Smart storage is already selected.
I have an HP ENVY 17r laptop. So I installed WIndows 8.1 the other day and everytime I startup my laptop I get this error:

My HP Pavilion dv6 SD card reader is not working after windows 8 upgrade (6 months ago). Previously it was working fine when I was using Win 7 (which is the default OS with this laptop). Â I cant find the device in Device manager (under System Device or Disk Drives).
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of upgrading my L521X/XPS 15 to Windows 8. The A09 BIOS introduced UEFI booting, which I of course intend to use. However, I can't get Windows installed when Smart Response is activated in the BIOS. The installer simply doesn't show any disks - even when loading the correct drivers. Changing to AHCI allows me to install - but of course without the benefit of Smart Response. Now, the question is: is it possible to use pure UEFI and Intel Smart Response Technology on the L521X?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just did a clean install to Windows 7 professional 64-bit from Windows vista home premium 32-bit as my laptop is capable of running 64-bit version of windows.
However, i completely wiped out my drivers for my sony buttom functions such as the utility button for FN keys and also control centre, power management, event service and etc.
I have went to the Sony Europe esupport to get the drivers. Is there a particular order I need to follow while installing them since I read from somewhere that you need to install the drivers in a particular order for them to work since they are dependent. Also, many threads say to install the 'sony DLL utilities' or 'original utility package' file which does not apply to my Sony Vaio version. However, I did notice 'setting utility series' folder in the download driver section. Are they the same?
Recently my fingerprint stopped working for power on and Windows login. Fingerprint reader setup utility started to show some strange error followed by empty utility window (see screenshots below).

I have updated  all the software using "Lenovo update and drivers" but it did not work (BIOS image also was updated during this process). I doubt that it is hardware fault because I have Linux OS installed as dual boot among with Windows, and no problems there with logging in using fingerprint reader (fingerprint-gui package)...
Windows 8 was upgraded to Windows 8.1 Upgrade on a Flex 15.

The first time I tried to do the upgrade, I had enough problems that I re-installed from a Windows 8.1 image. All went well and all the drivers work except the Ethernet. The upgrade was relatively painless if you ignore the necessary reboots.

The latest Ethernet driver was downloaded from Lenovo and it was upgraded through Device Manager to version 8.26.218.201

In spite of Device Manager saying the Realtek ethernet adapter is working, no network is recognized by Networks and Sharing Centrewith when an ethernent cable is plugged into the Flex 15 i. The cable is good and has been checked by way of another computer.Â

I have previously used the hard-wired ethernet once and it worked but I do not remember where the laptop stood during the upgrade path.

This may be a hardware problem which will require mailing the laptop for the repair, or it may be a software / dirver issue. The only other thing I can do is reistall from scratch to confirm it is a hardware problem.
I upgraded my w520 from Win 7 to Win 8 last year with zero problems. Now I upgraded my W520 Win 8 to Win 8.1 via the store download. Except the webcam everything works fine.

In e.g. the Skype desktop application, Google Hangouts or the camera app, the built in webcam no longer works.
The green light turns on, but I just get the crossed out camra icon in e.g. the Skype video options. No video.

I see there are no drivers yet for Win 8.1 on the Lenovo support site for the w520 camera. In device manager it still shows the 2011 camera driver 1.1.0.1147Â and says "This device is working properly."Â
But it does not work properly. How to get the camera to work or is it just a matter of waiting for a driver to be released eventually?
I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, camera is enabled in the Bios and permissions are set to give Skype and the camera app access to the camera. I also tried the W530 drives as was suggested elsewhere.
I have a new Acer Aspire 5315 Notebook, I've only had it about a month, and just a few days ago when I tried to plug in, as the batter was about to die, it wouldn't register that I was plugging it into the AC adapter. I can't get it to charge at all. I did notice that the small LED on the box on the AC adapter was coming on, so I know it's getting power, it just won't take power to the notebook, could someone tell me if there's a way to check if it's the adapter that's the problem?
It is still under warranty, so I called Acer support, and the guy wouldn't listen to me, he kept interrupting me just saying they'd send a new adapter. I just want to be sure that's the problem.
The wifi orange light does not change to white light after upgrading to windows 8 OS from windows home premium. i am using pavilion dv6-7011tx laptop, my product no. is. B0P39PA#ACJ this is very frustating as theres no wifi as well as bluetooth connectivity, the wireless button key solution is useless.
View 9 Replies View RelatedTravelmate 4010. I've had it for about 3 years now, and over the past *thinks* 6 months or so the power cord had been replaced twice because it broke. But it wasn't really the cord itself that broke the first time. Something inside the jack is broken and now the cord (a new one) has to be positioned just the right way so it doesn't switch to battery mode. I use it mostly on my bed, which probably doesn't help, but at one point I had to have it on a desk with the cord taped to the lid so it wouldn't move and kill the battery (which doesn't last that long). I couldn't even close the lid so I just had the monitor shut off after a minute. but I did get a new cord and started using it on my bed, storing it underneath when I'm not using it. After a while, though, the cord started to do the same thing and now I'm sitting here trying not to move on the bed too much so it doesn't disconnect. I'd like to get a new notebook, but I can't afford it.

I tried installing a few different drivers, and the touchscreen will work temporarily, until I put the computer to sleep and wake it up again. Also, I get an error message that a "USB Device fails" when the touchscreen stops working....not sure what that's about.

I had bought an Acer laptop with Vista Home Premium 32 bit in the period before the launch of Windows 7, and applied for the free Windows 7 upgrade kit.
Acer sends an upgrade disc that is of the same type as your Vista OS.
So I got an upgrade disc for Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, as well as a product key on the COA.
What I want to ask is whether it is possible for me to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit through a clean install by finding a friend with the normal retail Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade DVDs, using the 64 bit DVD and then entering the product key that came with my Acer 32 bit Windows 7 HP upgrade disc.
Has any one here received their windows upgrade 7 from Acer yet? Please can you tell me if the 64bit version is included or is it 32bit only?

I had some spare time this past weekend, so I installed another copy of Win 7 on it and it's now a dual-booter. I have re-installed most of the Acer software - but I cannot find a way to re-install the green Acer welcome screen.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just made my weekly call to Mentor Media and this is the first time someone spent enough time to tell me something potentially encouraging about my Windows 7 upgrade. She indicated that this week they finally (her word) have given them some information when things would ship. She said my order would ship within 3-5 business days – maybe before – and encouraged me to call back Friday for an update. She said that e-mails typically go out 24-48 hours after it has actually shipped, and to not necessarily expect the web site status to change. Somehow I sensed she maybe knew something concrete this time instead of just having to say that they didn’t know.
I’m cautiously optimistic.
I already bought a new upgrade license for Windows 7 and was about ready to install it on my Acer, but hearing this am going to hold off a bit longer in hopes that I can save it to use on my older Vista desktop. Hope I’m not hung out to dry again being suckered into waiting just a bit longer …
Has anyone that has received their upgrade kit found that it does a BIOS upgrade? The BIOS on my Acer M1202 is SLIC 2.0 compliant and presumably won’t allow any OEM activation key to work on it until it’s 2.1 compliant. Just curious how they are doing this.
just recieved the upgrade in the mail yesterday (finally hehe) well install went real smooth but once into windows 7 and all drivers installed i go to windows updates and theres a recomended for the ATI video card.
Now I don't want to do this because of all the problems we had with this system during the beta and video card drivers, has anyone tried the window updated drivers?
I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and everything seems fine, apart from a couple of minor things. When I had the original Vista installation when I pressed the mute button on my media control panel it lit up blue, since the upgrade the light doesn't respond.
Also when I turn on the volume on the media control panel the volume changes but I no longer get the graphic on the screen telling me what number its at.
I am trying get Windows 7 installed on my 1410 but since there is no optical drive it is a real pain. Got windows 7 installed by doing a clean install using a usb drive. Now the problem is I cannot install the Acer software and drivers that acer included on their upgrade disc. I tried running the program from my external hard drive but that does not work since it says to insert the disk. ...why can't they make it easier? All the applications and drivers are on the disk but I have no idea which to install since the disc contains files for all their models. Why would acer not make thier upgrade disc a download or something for their computers without an optical drive?
