Acer Aspire V5-552PG :: Touchscreen Stopped Working After Win 8.1 Upgrade
Sep 8, 2014
My touchscreen on the laptop stopped working properly after I upgraded to Windows 8.1. I tried installing a few different drivers, and the touchscreen will work temporarily, until I put the computer to sleep and wake it up again. Also, I get an error message that a "USB Device fails" when the touchscreen stops working....not sure what that's about.
I have a problem with the touchscreen of my laptop Acer r7 ! i was watching a movie form an external HDd when the touchscreen stopped working! i rebooted the system (nothing happened) and i also made an factory restore! STILL NOTHING!!! the touchscreen is NOT WORKING!!!
I have run into an issue with my Acer laptop which is leaving me really frusrated. For some reason one morning my touch screen stopped working. There has been no damage to my screen at all.
I have concted Acer Technical Support which in usual fashion were of completely.... Before I got in touch with Acer Technical Support I tried:
Refreshing the HID Monitor drivers Removing/Reinstalling the HID Monitor driversBoth of these were unsucessful, according to Device Manager, the HID monitor is working just fine. Upon calling Acer Technical Support their suggestion was to reinstall Windows because the tech though that it was an software issue.
I just reinstalled Windows are still have the same issue. Device Manager shows that the hardware is fine and functional from a driver standpoint.
I've also tied ensuring that the cable behind the monitor is in tact as in this post: [URL] Thus far nothing has worked.
I bought an Inspiron 14R about four months ago. The touchscreen worked fine until maybe a month ago. It was after the computer had some sort of update that the touchscreen stopped working. Any clue if there is a driver or something that I can download to fix this problem?
I have upgraded an Acer Aspire 1825PTZ to windows 8.1, however the touchscreen functionaloty is not working. I visited acer site but can only find relevant driver for up to Windows 7.
I have recently purchased a notebook Acer Aspire V5-472PG. It comes with a touchscreen.
In the beginning my touchscreen was working perfecly. But then something happened - and it just stopped suddenly. I thought that this is because my Windows 8 recently updated itself. I started to search for Touchscreen drivers and I couldn't find. Also restarts didn't work and switching off and on HID device.
So i decided to restore the PC to the initial condition. The touchscreen started working again!! I switched off all the updates for Windows 8.
But recently for some reason it instaled some updates by itself, and after some time the touchscreen stopped working again...
I have an acer aspire 5920g laptop that has recently stopped working , when I power on the computer the fan goes on and the power on light also goes on and two other lights flash once but nothing comes up on the screen and the computer never starts the boot sequence....the fan then goes off but the power light stays on , I already put new thermal compound on the processor and graphics card...I tried removing the ram modules , the wifi card and the hard drive ect. nothing seems to work ,
I purchased an Aspire E5-511 about a week ago. At first, I had no problems with the USB ports and what I plugged in would be recognized and work, but now none of them will recognize anything that is plugged into them. This is for multiple devices that work on other computers, so it is not the devices, and obviously it's not the hardware if all 3 simultaneously stopped working. Googling the problem has led nowhere. Additionally, the webcam used to come up automatically in the "Camera" app; this no longer works either and it says "To get started, connect a camera." I have restored the system back to factory defaults, had all files deleted and re-did the entire initial process all over again, to no avail.
I have had my acer laptop just over a year know and everything has been fine until a few months ago. All of a sudden my dvd drive stopped working which was a major problem as I routinely back up my hard drive as I use it for work. The warrenty has runout.
Earlier this week I wanted to use Pokerstars, but I was due an update (I already had it installed). I updated and loaded it up, although it seemed to lag at the log in screen, so I CTR+ALT+DEL and ended it in task manager. I reopened the program and had the same issue, so I task manager'd it again and it still didn't work. So I rebooted. When I rebooted, all of a sudden I had no option of connecting to a wireless network - only ethernet and VPN in the settings.
I have been into device manager and can see that I have a Qualcomm Atheros Driver in my network devices, although it has an amber warning with code 52 (driver unsigned).
I tried going onto Acer website and downloading the latest driver, which comes with a set up package - unfortunately this didn't work. I tried uninstalling the driver and pointing to the driver that I had downloaded manually; but every time it tells me 'You have the best driver set up for this device' and reverts back to the unsigned driver.
I have tried FN + F3 to disable and enable flight mode - no impact.
I read somewhere about updating bios settings - but there are none in the download section when I put my serial number into the Acer website.
I also tried downloading drivers from other external website and downloaded some third party program called 'Driver Assist' as the way the page was set up fooled me into thinking that was the legit download - it didn't work, and I have subsequently uninstalled it
I have only had the laptop just over a month new, and all had been working until then. Extremely unlikely to be any other spyware as the only things I have installed on here are Steam (FM15) and Pokerstars. I don't even really use this for browsing, just those two apps.
Further info - not sure if relevant but I installed the Acer WLAN + Bluetooth setup as a potential fix, and the bluetooth element seems to be functioning fine - not sure if they're on the same integrated card?
I am using an external bluetooth keyboard now and those keys work using it. I have also replaced the keyboard on the laptop but the Keys WAZS still do not work ....
I woke up this morning and for some reason my keyboard has suddenly stopped working it was ok last night. The touchpad and touchscreen are fine but nothing on the keyboard works? Only had it for about 5 months....
My Acer aspire 5542 stopped working today, there is no bios information or acer splash, just a blank screen, I have tested RAM memory, changed CMOS battery and power supply...
I've had my netbook for a few years and this error message has been appearing bottom right since I got it. Both USB ports have always worked fine. Device manager it shows a USB controller as not recognised by Windows. f I try to 'update' it says wndows doesn't recognise it. I can disable it but of course it renistalls on reboot and the message starts again.
I ignored it as it didn't do any harm. Recently I did a factory reset expecting this to do the trick but it didn't. I also updated the bios to v2034 I think but there's not much content to it so I've not got any USB options there.
I'm wondering if there are chipset drivers I need to get, though the Acer site doesn't offer anyting new there.
I have an acer aspire 5750z computer, a while back my wifi suddenly stopped working, but the ethernet is fine. I've searched the internet and tried to install the required driver (Atheros), but when I try it says that the "drive might have been ejected please reinsert it now" or something along those lines. When I go to the driver manager the wifi driver isn't even listed under network adapters, oonly the ethernet drver was there. I've heard that if your computer has had a virus or if you had dropped it the wifi card might have been damaged and I wanted to know if that's true, and if so can I buy a new wifi card?
Ive had this Acer laptop E1-510p with window 8.1 and all of the sudden some of the keys accross the keyboard stop working. These keys are random and even when i plug in a generic keyboard it does the same thing ....
I've just got the Acer Aspire V 11 Touch a week ago, but was wondering how I could either bring up the touchscreen numerical keypad or the keyboard to login instead of using the keyboard itself, I remember being able to do this but don't know if its a setting that I've disabled.
I have an ACER Aspire R7 win8.1 and I have a problem with the touchscreen. The touchscreen is scrolling up and down by iself out of control, without touching it.
I run anti-virus and anti-malware and everything seems normal. I finally disable the touchscreen in system and everything is fine using the mouse.
Recently started having a problem with the mouse pointer randomly jumping all over the screen. It's gotten so bad that I can't even use the computer at this time because the pointer won't stay in the same place long enough for me to type or select anything. I typically use the laptop in the screen forward configuration so I don't use the touch pad and nothing is touching it. I use the touchscreen about half the time and use an external USB mouse the rest of the time. It makes no difference which method I use or whether the external mouse is connected or not. as my fancy 4-month old laptop is essentially useless at this point.
Firstly the dvd rom stopped working about 6 months ago.Can live without it but now after getting a blue screen it wont boot or the screen is black.Connected it to a monitor and when it does choose to boot there is no display on the laptop screen until the login screen appears.Ran some tests on the HDD drive when its running but comes up ok.Is it likely to be a failing MB or some corruption on my OP system.
about 2 months ago i bought an Acer 5920G, a week or so ago suddenly the touchpad stopped working, i dont recall how it happened, i think i just booted Windows Vista as i usually do and the touchpad didnt work when i tried to click my user name so i could enter my password to logon.
I thought maybe the driver had gone bad so i rebooted and booted Windows XP( on a different partition) and in windows xp the touchpad also didnt work anymore.
Is this a hardware failure? Or are there other possibilities? I tried removing the driver and reinstalling, but it still didnt work.
I've had this laptop since November as a replacement for my old 6920G which unfortunately got stolen, and the subwoofer/booster has been working fine with the latest Realtek driver on Windows 7.
However today I noticed that my music sounded a bit 'tinny', then discovered that the tuba booster thing wasn't working at all. I have no idea when it stopped working, although I suspect it my have physically broken in some way as I've done quite a bit of trvelling with my laptop over Christmas.
Is there any way I can properly identify the cause of the problem, and how would I go about getting it fixed? I'm not sure if I even have a warranty as I bought it second hand off ebay!
I am trying to troubleshoot a E1-531-4836 the Right hand side of the keyboard has stopped working, and the touchpad does not respond properly either. I tried reloading drivers, a system reset, and I am left with the same problem. I have plugged a USB mouse and keyboard in, and I can sort of use the computer, I can not get all functions to work completely.
The touchpad and USB 3.0 port on my E5-551-89TN with windows 8.1 has stopped working. I have downloaded both drivers and installed them again but both arn't even showing up in device manager. I have updated all drivers includeing the BIOS but they still are not being detected by Windows 8.1.
