View 5 Replies View RelatedFor about a year, I've had an SDXC card in the built-in card reader of my Folio 13-1020us.
It's been working fine until a couple days ago. Then something I was downloading to it failed to complete, which is how I noticed that it had stopped working. Now, it doesn't appear in drives under My Computer, and it doesn't appear in Device Manager.
In an older HP laptop, I can at least see the card's drive letter and the name I gave it, so I think the card itself must be fine. But I can't see anything at all when I place it in the Folio.
I have a feeling the reader itself has just failed. I'm out of warranty by just a few months. Do I have to extend my warranty and send it in to get it fixed? I do not want to use an external reader because I use the card as extra storage space.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy fingerprint reader stopped working. I can open the Simple Pass ID program but when I click on fingerprints, it indicates "verifying identity" with an hourglass on top of the fingerprint icon and no matter how long I wait, that's all that happens.
Pavilion dv6t 3100 notebook, Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 8GB RAM, i5 processor.
I can no longer use or enroll finger prints on my T430s laptop running Windows 8.1!
ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software is 6.0.0.8102.
Sensor: TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBF advanced mode). Driver version: 1.6.2.352.
Symptom: when trying to enroll a fingerprint, I get the message: 'Use a longer stroke when scanning your fingerprint,' the sensor light turns from green to blinking orange (3 times), then back to green. Same happens when when trying to enroll from Windows PC Setting/ Sign-in Options/ Fingerprint (Add).
What I tried: uninstalling ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software and Driver (to include selecting 'Delete the driver software for this device'), rebooting, using Lenovo System Update to re-install ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software, rebooting. Have also tried to manually install previous versions of the Fingerprint Software to no avail.
I had this similar problem in the past, since upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1, but the steps above usually resolved it.
For whatever reason my ringerprint reader stopped working. I've uninstalled and re-installed the driver, software and done just about everything I can find online.
In the device manager it usually shows up, but sometimes doesnt. In the control panel>biometric devices, it shows up less often, usually only after i've clicked "Scan for hardware changes."
I have tried everything to get this SD card reader to work but to no avail. Even a fresh install of W7/32 ... nothing... Every time i insert an SD card in the slot... i get a message. USB device not recognized ... one of the usb devices has malfunctioned & Windows does not recognize it... I am also just using a 2 g SD card not an sdhc card.
In the Device Manager.... it shows up as "unknown device" yellow highlight... try to update the driver ... says i already have the best driver..... when i take the sd card out...unknown device disappears... i have also re-installed the drivers from here for the card reader... but nothing....
Furthermore... it seems to lead to an error code 43 ..
The Fn+F3 combination on my Acer Aspire One D270 doesn't work. I have wireless internet but the Wi-Fi led is red and I can't turn it on and off. Also the combination Fn+left/right arrow which makes the screen dimmer or brighter doesn't work either. One more thing: does this model have a bluetooth device? I should mention that the OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI purchased an Aspire E5-511 about a week ago. At first, I had no problems with the USB ports and what I plugged in would be recognized and work, but now none of them will recognize anything that is plugged into them. This is for multiple devices that work on other computers, so it is not the devices, and obviously it's not the hardware if all 3 simultaneously stopped working. Googling the problem has led nowhere. Additionally, the webcam used to come up automatically in the "Camera" app; this no longer works either and it says "To get started, connect a camera." I have restored the system back to factory defaults, had all files deleted and re-did the entire initial process all over again, to no avail.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically the Fn Button, Left, Right, Up, Down buttons are all working fine. I can adjust the volume of the notebook, but I can't however adjust the brightness of the screen. There is no brightness setting in my notebook whatsoever! Am I missing the brightness driver? what is the name of the brightness driver? Or is it something else. Taking into account that I have decrease/increase brightness symbols on the left/right buttons respectively.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have run into an issue with my Acer laptop which is leaving me really frusrated. For some reason one morning my touch screen stopped working. There has been no damage to my screen at all.
I have concted Acer Technical Support which in usual fashion were of completely.... Before I got in touch with Acer Technical Support I tried:
Refreshing the HID Monitor drivers Removing/Reinstalling the HID Monitor driversBoth of these were unsucessful, according to Device Manager, the HID monitor is working just fine. Upon calling Acer Technical Support their suggestion was to reinstall Windows because the tech though that it was an software issue.
I just reinstalled Windows are still have the same issue. Device Manager shows that the hardware is fine and functional from a driver standpoint.
I've also tied ensuring that the cable behind the monitor is in tact as in this post: [URL] Thus far nothing has worked.
Acer Aspire E 15, Windows 8.1
Background (in as much detail as possible):
Earlier this week I wanted to use Pokerstars, but I was due an update (I already had it installed). I updated and loaded it up, although it seemed to lag at the log in screen, so I CTR+ALT+DEL and ended it in task manager. I reopened the program and had the same issue, so I task manager'd it again and it still didn't work. So I rebooted. When I rebooted, all of a sudden I had no option of connecting to a wireless network - only ethernet and VPN in the settings.
I have been into device manager and can see that I have a Qualcomm Atheros Driver in my network devices, although it has an amber warning with code 52 (driver unsigned).
I tried going onto Acer website and downloading the latest driver, which comes with a set up package - unfortunately this didn't work. I tried uninstalling the driver and pointing to the driver that I had downloaded manually; but every time it tells me 'You have the best driver set up for this device' and reverts back to the unsigned driver.
I have tried FN + F3 to disable and enable flight mode - no impact.
I read somewhere about updating bios settings - but there are none in the download section when I put my serial number into the Acer website.
I also tried downloading drivers from other external website and downloaded some third party program called 'Driver Assist' as the way the page was set up fooled me into thinking that was the legit download - it didn't work, and I have subsequently uninstalled it
I have only had the laptop just over a month new, and all had been working until then. Extremely unlikely to be any other spyware as the only things I have installed on here are Steam (FM15) and Pokerstars. I don't even really use this for browsing, just those two apps.
Further info - not sure if relevant but I installed the Acer WLAN + Bluetooth setup as a potential fix, and the bluetooth element seems to be functioning fine - not sure if they're on the same integrated card?
I've an HP 6510B and I don't know which is the sd/mmc card reader driver to download.
Actually the card readibility is not available under my system. I' ve installed win xp professional.
I am using an external bluetooth keyboard now and those keys work using it. I have also replaced the keyboard on the laptop but the Keys WAZS still do not work ....
View 1 Replies View RelatedI woke up this morning and for some reason my keyboard has suddenly stopped working it was ok last night. The touchpad and touchscreen are fine but nothing on the keyboard works? Only had it for about 5 months....
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy touchscreen on the laptop stopped working properly after I upgraded to Windows 8.1. I tried installing a few different drivers, and the touchscreen will work temporarily, until I put the computer to sleep and wake it up again. Also, I get an error message that a "USB Device fails" when the touchscreen stops working....not sure what that's about.
I've already tried drivers, installing/unistalling things...normal maintenance.
My Acer aspire 5542 stopped working today, there is no bios information or acer splash, just a blank screen, I have tested RAM memory, changed CMOS battery and power supply...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had my netbook for a few years and this error message has been appearing bottom right since I got it. Both USB ports have always worked fine. Device manager it shows a USB controller as not recognised by Windows. f I try to 'update' it says wndows doesn't recognise it. I can disable it but of course it renistalls on reboot and the message starts again.
I ignored it as it didn't do any harm. Recently I did a factory reset expecting this to do the trick but it didn't. I also updated the bios to v2034 I think but there's not much content to it so I've not got any USB options there.
I'm wondering if there are chipset drivers I need to get, though the Acer site doesn't offer anyting new there.
I just do a fresh install windows XP. Everything has been installed properly (no exclamation mark) in device driver. However, 1 thing that hasn't worked is the SD card reader. I inserted SD Card and nothing shows up. I open My Computer, the only available is my hard disk (C and cd-rom (D.
I opened device manager: IDE/ATA/ATAPI controllers:
Ricoh SD/MMC host controller.
I bought my Aspire E5-511G few days ago.
I installed Windows 7 professional (x64) successfully.
I installed all the drivers downloaded form the support section also successfully.
The problem is that on approximately every 5~10 minutes I get the following message:
"display driver intel hd graphics drivers for windows 8(r) stopped responding and has recovered".
This message by itself is not annoying. The problem is that during skype video call after getting this message I don't see anymore nor my own video nor the video of the called.
Not only this, restarting the call does not fix the problem.
The only solution is to restart skype but this also does not work everytime.
I had similar issue with youtube videos but I fixed the problem by setting NVIDIA as preferred graphics processor for the browser application, however I don;t have such option for skype.
I did a complete restore of windows 7 starter on acer aspire one d270-1410. install hangs up on office 2010, currently for over 8 hours, without going any further. it's a vicious circle. can't get past office 2010 install. i have no cd drive.

I have searched the boards and have not found an answer to my built in SD card reader not working any more. It worked fine until a couple weeks ago. When I go to "my computer", the sd card does not show up as an available drive. I have tried several cards with no luck. The cards work fine when I use a USB card reader, just not the built in one.I checked the driver in device manager - at least the one I believe is the correct one - Realtec PCIE Card Reader.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an acer aspire 5750z computer, a while back my wifi suddenly stopped working, but the ethernet is fine. I've searched the internet and tried to install the required driver (Atheros), but when I try it says that the "drive might have been ejected please reinsert it now" or something along those lines. When I go to the driver manager the wifi driver isn't even listed under network adapters, oonly the ethernet drver was there. I've heard that if your computer has had a virus or if you had dropped it the wifi card might have been damaged and I wanted to know if that's true, and if so can I buy a new wifi card?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HP ENVY 15t-j100 Quad Edition running Windows 7. Its card reader is not working. When I insert an SD card, I get a message that the device is not installed properly. Windows prompts me to update the driver, so I have let it, but it cannot find the driver. In the Device Manager, with the SD card inserted, it shows under "Other devices" a "Disk drive" with a yellow "!" symbol. The device status reads:
"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."
I have tried to update the driver from there, but again no driver is reported to be found.
By the way, the Device Manager says that the Realtek PCIE CardReader is working properly. I have updated its driver using sp66065.exe, but there is no difference. The card reader is still not reading, nor is there a drive letter showing up for the inserted card.
If I disable the Realtek PCIE CardReader, then the "Other devices," "Disk drive" in the Device Manager goes away. But the card reader is not functioning all the same. If I enable the card reader, the same error returns with a yellow '!" under the "Other devices," "Disk drive" in the Device Manager,
