HP Envy14-1200 OS/Software :: Couldn't Create New Partition Or Locate Existing One - See Setup Log File
Dec 19, 2014
System - HP Envy14-1200 Beats Edition Notebook PC Series - Product # XQ103AV. It came pre-installed Windows 7.
Error message "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. See the setup log file" appears during fresh installation of Windows 8.0.
MS Windows 8 installation DVD detects the hard drive OK.
Mini Tool Partition software (3rd party) detects the hard drive OK.
Both Windows 8 DVD and MiniTool software detects the disk partition and its formated OK, but the error message appears to prevent it from installation.
These are steps that I tried to resolve the problem, but it won't work.
1. Used Microsoft Windows 8 DVD diskpart to clean HD, partition and format........still get the same error message.
2. Used Microsoft Windows 8 DVD diskpart to clean HD and partition....................still get the same error message.
3. Used MiniTool Partition software to clean HD, partition and format........still get the same error message.
4. Used MiniTool Partition software to clean HD and partition....................still get the same error message.
5. Purchased a new hard drive repeat step 1 - 4 and I got the ......same error message.
Background
I upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows 7 and it worked for a 2 month, then I upgraded to Windows 8.1. After the system is upgraded and rebooted, the screen turn black. So I decided to re-install Windows 8.0. There is no SIM/SD card in the laptop.
Ever since i got my HP ENVY 15-j175nr, i couldn't open up HP SIMPLEPASS to setup my fingerprint passcode.i press window logo, then type in HP SimplePass there is 2 type of same programs that came up, i clicked both and both showing up this Error.then when i open up each of HP simplepass this happens.
I want to install windows by Bootcamp. But I've found some problem about a partition on my HDD.
My MacbookPro HDD has 27 GB free space remain. And it's has only 1 partition on HDD. I try to create a new partition, 10-15 GB on my HDD for Bootcamp. I just want to run windows for some program, some games. But it always show "verification failed", "don't have enough space", "partition failed"...etc. on bootcamp and disk utility
I've seen some thread about a partition for bootcamp problem on some website. Some solution such as
1. use iDefrag for HDD then try to create a new partition.
2. Shrink your HDD space (disk utility) , revert , then try to create a new partition by Bootcamp.
3. Try to remove some files, that size is over 1 GB, then try to make a new partition.
4. Backup your harddrive, reinstall then try to create a new partition (I don't want to do this)...
I am changing the hard disk of my laptop from 80gb to 320gb. for the primary drive i.e. c: i can use the recovery disk that i created to load the os and the drivers.
Now the question is how can i create the recovery drive d:
I would prefer to have the hp recovery partition. if there is use of some other software like norton ghost then i would prefer to use any free software.
I have this hidden partition on my notebook (aspire 6920G) and I have no idea what is it used for. I know that PQService is recovery partition but I've never heard of this. By googling I've found that HP's used to use Compaq Setup partition to boot bios (?), but this is acer. I would really like to get rid of it (because now I can't create another primary partition).
A friend brought over her HP Pavilion dv6226us Laptop running VISTA. The hard drive was full and the machine could not be used for anything. Would like to wipe the dirve and start over, but need a VISTA recovery disk for the machine. The D: partition where the backup files from HP resides was removed from the drive so Recovery manager is not an option. Checked the HP support site and there are not recovery disks available for HP for this model laptop with VISTA, at least when I entered all the information on the site it did not list anything.
Is there anything that can be done by copying the correct files from the WINDOWS directory on the C drive.
After upgrade to Window 8.1 PRO I seeC: 932 GBD: 28 GB -listed as recovery. I want to save system image backup Currently to create system image backup I have only option to create image on external drive or on D:
1. Is possible without reinstalling windows create new partion E: in order backup system images to it? If yes how create new partition in win.8.1?
2. if partion E: will contain system image(s) can I boot from usb recovery disk and choose restore from one of system images located on E:
3. If for some reasons I want to reinstall OS from set of recovery DVD(s) to factory setting what is going to happen with partion E:
The only reason I purchased my xps m1710 is that I thought it was the top of the range model at the time, now all I want to do is replace the hd but at the same time retain all the functionality of the hidden restore partition and the media centre partition. You would expect Dell would make this easy for me as the owner and as Dell market themselves as providing user friendly IT solutions.
I have tried using trueimage to clone the drive but when trying the new drive on boot up it gets to the Dell 'blue bar' then freezes. I have tried copying partition by partition but this is even less successful.
I have tried restoring the restore 'ghost' image to the new hard drive but symantec ghost reports incompatibilities with the image file.
I am upgrading my original Samsung hd (SATA) to a new hd and would like to keep the hidden partition and mediacentre partition as my original hd. I have a new SATA hd which is currently connected in a USB enclosure. I am not a hd or filesystem expert and don't want to spend a year studying the goodells website.
Im looking at getting a new laptop soon, for moderate gaming and web design. My price range is around $1000, so I really like the dv6t and the envy14, so...
Which would you guys get if you were me?
Which will perform better at the $1000 price mark?
I am looking to purchase a HP 15 f003dx and I would like to add memory to it immediately. I just want to verify that I can add memory to this laptop. It comes with 4GB and I would like to kickit up to 8 by adding 4GB in the 2nd DIMM slot. I have read several reviews that stated that the memory could not be updated. Can I add to the already existing 4GB or memory on this latpop?
I have a HP Envy m6-1158ca which I am using for last two years and really happy with that.Is it possible to add SSD on that along with the existing 1TB HDD?I am also going to increase memory to 16GB (currently, it's 8GB).
I was hoping the nice people here could help me. I was wondering how many fans are in an M1730? Is it more than just what's on the GPU? I was also looking for those little rubber screw covers on the LCD front bezel.
Does anyone know where to buy them? I currently own an M1710 and I know there are also 2 plastic screw covers on the LCD. Is it the same with the M1730?
I just bought a Macbook Pro (8 days ago) with iLife 2008 on it. I contacted Apple and they said an email with a link to download the update file would be sent. Anyone have similar experiences regarding updates ?
I have been looking for a device that functions both as a NAS and a print server for a USB printer. My printer (and NAS-to-be) are in a different room than my current wireless router. I have a Windows 7 - based PC.
So...
I would like to be able to connect the Time Capsule to my existing wireless network.
I would like to be able to back up files over the wireless network (probably using Windows 7's included backup software).
I would like to be able to print over the wireless network. My printer is a Samsung ML-2510 printer.
Im using windows 8 on my Dell 5520 laptop. now a problem is happening from past few days i could'n hibernate my Laptop, when ever i do it, sometimes it shutdown my system and sometimes it restarted to login screen.
This was a donation to our kids konnect program. I need to do an assessment but can't get beyond an error message. It doesn't recognize an "ultrabay" and wants me to remove and reinstall it
About a month ago my touchpad started to act up. I couldn't use the touchpad to click on anything with any consistency. I tried the reinstall of the driver but no change. I bought a new touchpad assembly and it worked perfectly for about a week. Now the pad part works but the scroll feature doesn't. When I install the latest driver from Synaptics the scroll works but the pad is erratic. I've rolled the driver back to the 2006 edition and the pad works perfectly but no scroll. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.
I bought an HP Pavilion G6 series laptop (LX273EA#ABU) last year and it has stopped loading properly. When I click on 'Repair (recommended)' I get an error messaqe saying 'REM couldn't detect 2 HDDs'. I have tried starting in safe mode and it won't work.
Aspire E3-112-C7LY. It had inside windows 8.1 64b. But it was difficult for her, so he bought a Windows 7 Home Edition. I did a disk deep delete and installed them. But... no drivers. I couldn't find drivers for USB ports and many others. How can i get a recovery disk? Because i cleaned totally the disk (delete also the recovery parition on it, been on GPT so i can install the Win7).
I am buying a XPS m1550 and I can't decide which screen to get. Should I get the LED or the HD 1920 x 1200 display.....That 1920 display sounds good as I like having lots of windows open...on the other hand LED is better on energy and I have heard a nicer looking screen to view....
if anyone who has an HDX 16t-1200 could tell me what their system board ID is. You can find this out by going into your system BIOS on the main info page on the front it lists your system board id.
