Ever since i got my HP ENVY 15-j175nr, i couldn't open up HP SIMPLEPASS to setup my fingerprint passcode.i press window logo, then type in HP SimplePass there is 2 type of same programs that came up, i clicked both and both showing up this Error.then when i open up each of HP simplepass this happens.
View 3 RepliesI have an HP ENVY 15-j112tx, which I've had now since the beginning of this year as a replacement for my HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j009tx which broke down at christmas. On my the j009tx, I was able to enrol multiple fingers, the software looked just like the one in the tutorial pictures on the HP website, for setting up simplepass. On this new laptop however, there is no option to enrol more than one finger, I'm not sure how to update or downgrade the software to the one that came with my previous laptop.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just bought the HP Envy 15-j140na directly from HP. The laptop is fantastic, however I am having a problem with the fingerprint reader. The computer comes with the simplepass software version 8.00.57 already installed.
The problem I have is that once I have set up the fingerprint reader with simple pass, it doesn't prompt me to scan my print during the windows login and i have to log in normally. I have checked all of the settings and it should be set up, however there is no prompt. Just to note that everything else works fine. I can sign into websites on IE no problem at all using the fingerprint reader. It can be slightly frustrating as this defeats the point of having a fingerprint reader.
I just seem to unable to adjust the brightness of my screen. I tried restarting my computer, adjusting using f2/f3 or through settings it doesn't work?
My computer is HP ENVY 15-j175nr and my product numer is F7Q25PA#AB4.
System - HP Envy14-1200 Beats Edition Notebook PC Series - Product # XQ103AV. It came pre-installed Windows 7.
Error message "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. See the setup log file" appears during fresh installation of Windows 8.0.
MS Windows 8 installation DVD detects the hard drive OK.
Mini Tool Partition software (3rd party) detects the hard drive OK.
Both Windows 8 DVD and MiniTool software detects the disk partition and its formated OK, but the error message appears to prevent it from installation.
These are steps that I tried to resolve the problem, but it won't work.
1. Used Microsoft Windows 8 DVD diskpart to clean HD, partition and format........still get the same error message.
2. Used Microsoft Windows 8 DVD diskpart to clean HD and partition....................still get the same error message.
3. Used MiniTool Partition software to clean HD, partition and format........still get the same error message.
4. Used MiniTool Partition software to clean HD and partition....................still get the same error message.
5. Purchased a new hard drive repeat step 1 - 4 and I got the ......same error message.
Background
I upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows 7 and it worked for a 2 month, then I upgraded to Windows 8.1. After the system is upgraded and rebooted, the screen turn black. So I decided to re-install Windows 8.0. There is no SIM/SD card in the laptop.
When I try to get Simple Pass (SP) after downloading it will not let me open it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my wireless devices on my Hp envy 15 notebook k000nx - Windows 8.1. I have tried many ways to turn on the wireless network by reinstalling drivers from hp website and turn off the airplane mode.
Even when i use the troubleshooter it only sees the cable problem. But there is no sign of my wireless or the bluetooth they are just gone. And here is some picture for my problem ..
I bought my HP envy 15 about a month ago and originally simplepass was unresponsive it worked perfectly until I installed software (Solidworks). Now the fingerprint scanner lights up on login etc but doesn't recognise the swipe. When I try to open simplepass itself, I press 'Get started' and it starts to load drivers but then disappears. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but my pc had a fit when I restarted and repeatedly restarted for about half an hour saying something went wrong. Eventually I had to take the battery out and the computer gave me to option to reset. Now I'm afraid to change any software myself incase anything goes wrong.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just buy an HP ENVY TouchSmart 17-j153 with Windows 8.1 and I am trying to set up the fingerprint reader with SimplePass. But the problem is that when I open the HP Utility Center and I try to open SimplePass it just does not open, I click and nothing happens.
When I slide my finger on the scanner nothing happens. When I am creating a password for signing in it gives me the option to use a fingerprint and when I do that the scanner works right but at the moment of sign in nothing happens again, is just like if I was not doing nothing.
I have the HP envy and I have been using simple pass fine for ages but then I tried to rescan my fingers to fix it because it seemed to be having a lot of trouble recognising me so when I went through I deleted the fingers and tried to input them again but whenever I scan one of my fingers it says that the finger is already enrolled HOWEVER when i scan my finger outside of the program it asks me to setup HP simple pass but when you click configure it doesnt open the program
I have tried repairing the program with the control panel
So How can I reset the program to a fresh install? Is there a place where I can download a replacement copy?
I have an HP Envy TC 17, and I am trying to use multiple logins to the same page using SimplePass. How can add another account to an already existing account?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I bought this pc, It was Windows 8. I updated my pc to latest windows 8.1. After first update SimplePass stopped working on every browser except Internet Explorer. It stopped working on the log in screen too. But for no reason it started working on the log on screen suddenly. I contacted HP through chat support. They said SimplePass is designed to work only with Internet Explorer. Other browsers might work or not. That's fine. According to her (HP Agent) SimplePass is still working.
But after the last update SimplePass stopped working totally except the log in screen. I click on the SimplePass icon... no response... I swipe on the finger print reader... nothing happens. But the it only works on the windows log in screen. Bellow is my current pc info. I think HP should update SimplePass.

I upgraded my PC to windows 8.1 sometime back and had no issue with simplepass initially. I then suddenly could not swipe my finger and log in.
I am at a loss as to what to do because, I have depended on using this for lots of my web-sites etc. (keeping my password secure) but now I cannot use my finger print recognition to do so and have to type my master password each time.
I bought this computer for the ease of managing my security but HP has made me loose confidence in their products given the battle I am facing.
I am worried about installing any updated software as one solution suggests because I am not sure it will solve the problem without deleting my exiting password data files etc.

Things i've done:
Updated drivers.
''Hold power button'' method.
Clues i have:
1. I remember back when i just got the laptop, it would always flicker in the exact same way when a charger was plugged in that was too weak (power out let too low message) and changing the charger always fixed it.
Now i still have the same charger (i have 3 hp and 1 dell chargers at home that fit my laptop) and none of them seems to be ''enough'' (60w x2 65w x1 and 120w x1).
2. Another funny thing is that when i uninstalled my Ati Radeon HD5850 drivers completely, there was no flickering, but obviously, i need to have that as i use this laptop strictly for games)
3. The screen refresh rate is 60hz and not possible to change,.
4. There is NO flickering on an external screen (tried two tvs, both didn't clicker a bit)
5. You might say it's a hardware problem, but i actually somehow got it to work without the flickering earlier tonight and stayed up all night playing and it didn't cause me any issues. It was working great.
6. Occasionally the PC will freeze (could that be a battery problem? since i currently am not using one as both mine are broken and i'm waiting for a new one to ship)
7. I have had 2 blue screens of death recently. One while installing ATI drivers and other i don't remember.
I own a Dell Inspiron N4110, Intel Core i3, 4GB RAM with Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1.
Today when I wanted to access my BIOS settings, I found out that I had already set one. It has been more than a year since I last accessed my BIOS. Now what the pass-code is. I looked up Google on how to recover the pass-code and none of it worked. A post I read on Microsoft said to ask the computer manufacturer if there is a "universal pass-code" ( something like that ) so that I can use it to access the BIOS and then reset the pass-code.
If you cannot seem to get a universal pass-code, I'm open to other methods on how to reset the BIOS pass-code.
I upgrade my laptop to windows 8.1. But a few drivers were missing after installing those some unknown devices are showing in device manager. Apart from that sound driver works just fine but beats control panel won't open with error shown.

It even mentions the SONY-TV in the output settings (audio and video) but there is nothing on my tv, just a blank screen ....

I have a HP ENVY 17-j070ca, and a few months ago my fingerprint reader stopped working. I have tried running the program multiple times, but it too refuses to launch. I have reinstalled all the drivers, and have used task manager to close out of everything that might cause the program to not launch.

I am having trouble with setting up the fingerprint scanner. I skipped the password set up when I first got this HP laptop. Now when I boot up my laptop the scanner flashes, but it won't let me set it up and asks for a password or scanner. Since I never set up my password I just close it and use my laptop. It seems as though the laptop is not booting into Windows either, as usually whenever my laptop boots into windows, the fingerprint scanner blinks letting me know I can now sign in using it. I am extremely frustrated with this, and have an unbelievable amount of stress because this was my only PC.

I could not install windows 7 because of the above subject. I tried to load drivers for RAID installation it says the specified location does not contain information about your hardware. Although i have downloaded the driver from intel website (the link you have provided).

View 1 Replies View RelatedAbout a month ago my touchpad started to act up. I couldn't use the touchpad to click on anything with any consistency. I tried the reinstall of the driver but no change. I bought a new touchpad assembly and it worked perfectly for about a week. Now the pad part works but the scroll feature doesn't. When I install the latest driver from Synaptics the scroll works but the pad is erratic. I've rolled the driver back to the 2006 edition and the pad works perfectly but no scroll. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.
