HP Envy OS/Software :: SimplePass Isn't Recognizing Already Enrolled Fingerprints
Jul 19, 2014
I have the HP envy and I have been using simple pass fine for ages but then I tried to rescan my fingers to fix it because it seemed to be having a lot of trouble recognising me so when I went through I deleted the fingers and tried to input them again but whenever I scan one of my fingers it says that the finger is already enrolled HOWEVER when i scan my finger outside of the program it asks me to setup HP simple pass but when you click configure it doesnt open the program
I have tried repairing the program with the control panel
So How can I reset the program to a fresh install? Is there a place where I can download a replacement copy?
I bought my HP envy 15 about a month ago and originally simplepass was unresponsive it worked perfectly until I installed software (Solidworks). Now the fingerprint scanner lights up on login etc but doesn't recognise the swipe. When I try to open simplepass itself, I press 'Get started' and it starts to load drivers but then disappears. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but my pc had a fit when I restarted and repeatedly restarted for about half an hour saying something went wrong. Eventually I had to take the battery out and the computer gave me to option to reset. Now I'm afraid to change any software myself incase anything goes wrong.
I have just buy an HP ENVY TouchSmart 17-j153 with Windows 8.1 and I am trying to set up the fingerprint reader with SimplePass. But the problem is that when I open the HP Utility Center and I try to open SimplePass it just does not open, I click and nothing happens.
When I slide my finger on the scanner nothing happens. When I am creating a password for signing in it gives me the option to use a fingerprint and when I do that the scanner works right but at the moment of sign in nothing happens again, is just like if I was not doing nothing.
I have an HP ENVY 15-j112tx, which I've had now since the beginning of this year as a replacement for my HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j009tx which broke down at christmas. On my the j009tx, I was able to enrol multiple fingers, the software looked just like the one in the tutorial pictures on the HP website, for setting up simplepass. On this new laptop however, there is no option to enrol more than one finger, I'm not sure how to update or downgrade the software to the one that came with my previous laptop.
I have an HP Envy TC 17, and I am trying to use multiple logins to the same page using SimplePass. How can add another account to an already existing account?
When I bought this pc, It was Windows 8. I updated my pc to latest windows 8.1. After first update SimplePass stopped working on every browser except Internet Explorer. It stopped working on the log in screen too. But for no reason it started working on the log on screen suddenly. I contacted HP through chat support. They said SimplePass is designed to work only with Internet Explorer. Other browsers might work or not. That's fine. According to her (HP Agent) SimplePass is still working.
But after the last update SimplePass stopped working totally except the log in screen. I click on the SimplePass icon... no response... I swipe on the finger print reader... nothing happens. But the it only works on the windows log in screen. Bellow is my current pc info. I think HP should update SimplePass.

I upgraded my PC to windows 8.1 sometime back and had no issue with simplepass initially. I then suddenly could not swipe my finger and log in.
I am at a loss as to what to do because, I have depended on using this for lots of my web-sites etc. (keeping my password secure) but now I cannot use my finger print recognition to do so and have to type my master password each time.
I bought this computer for the ease of managing my security but HP has made me loose confidence in their products given the battle I am facing.
I am worried about installing any updated software as one solution suggests because I am not sure it will solve the problem without deleting my exiting password data files etc.
I have just bought the HP Envy 15-j140na directly from HP. The laptop is fantastic, however I am having a problem with the fingerprint reader. The computer comes with the simplepass software version 8.00.57 already installed.
The problem I have is that once I have set up the fingerprint reader with simple pass, it doesn't prompt me to scan my print during the windows login and i have to log in normally. I have checked all of the settings and it should be set up, however there is no prompt. Just to note that everything else works fine. I can sign into websites on IE no problem at all using the fingerprint reader. It can be slightly frustrating as this defeats the point of having a fingerprint reader.
Ever since i got my HP ENVY 15-j175nr, i couldn't open up HP SIMPLEPASS to setup my fingerprint passcode.i press window logo, then type in HP SimplePass there is 2 type of same programs that came up, i clicked both and both showing up this Error.then when i open up each of HP simplepass this happens.
I received my XPS 1530 a few days ago and I'm happy with everything except for the factory supplied fingerprints on the lid. I tried using screen wipes and Windex - but I can't remove the fingerprints. Has anyone else successfully removed fingerprints, and if so, what did you use?
After seeing how awesome the Education discount is, I've decided I will definitely go after a MacBook Pro 17 if I can get this shoddy Acer returned. What attracts me is the thinness, design, keyboard, screen, weight and basically everything except the price. Everything about it screams quality, even the notorious glossy screen which I kinda like.
I have some questions about the MacBook Pros and Mac OSX in general.
1. Is the 8 Hour Battery Life for real? I know that this is some "revolutionary" new thing, but honestly I can't believe something with a WUXGA screen could go for so long.
2. Does Aluminum scratch easily? How about fingerprints?
3. (Applies to all MacBook Pros) Does the hinge of the lid creak or wobble when opening or closing the laptop?
4. Is Leopard 32 bit or 64 bit? Or is it default 64 bit? I can't see any mention of that in the configuration page.
5. How about driver support? I have a Razer Copperhead, Piranha and am ordering a Mamba and it would be a shame if they were not compatible with the OS.
6. Does Parallels or VMWare lag at all when running XP? Or is it the same experience, with no slow down? How about Boot Camp?
HP DV7 6143cl Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit recently updated IE from 9 to 11.
I bought the laptop mid 2011and did not get around to looking at the fingerprint reader until the end of that year. I used it briefly but with very few passwords I un-enrolled my fingerprints and let it sit idle.
Recently I decided to use it again but it was dead. I installed the Validity Fingerprint Sensor driver sp55109.exe and HP SimplePass Identity Protection 2011 sp54680.exe. Upon restart it took me though the fingerprint enrolment process and started working.
The first driver is the actual sensor and the second is the management software, correct?
Very recently I updated Internet Explorer from 9 to 11 and the SimplePass stopped working again. So I repeated the above steps but only overwrote the existing drivers.
It started working again in that I can logon the laptop with a fingerprint and I can assign a website to an enrolled fingerprint to launch but it is no longer asking me if I want simple pass to save passwords.
Could this be related to IE 11?.
I read Dragon Fur's tutorial on SkyDrive: Simple Instructions to Upgrade HP.
Should I try again after I delete the existing fingerprint driver?
I the tutorial mentions an very new driver sp63224 HP SimplePass V6.0.100.276 Win7-8
Would this driver work or am I just overlooking something else as it partially functions?
Yesterday I decided to do a clean boot since my startup was running slow. Now for some reason I am unable to regsiter my fingerprint scanner, even though I've downloaded the file again from hp support here and installed the program.
Here is an image of the screen: it keeps on loading and will not let me register new fingerprint.
I'm using a HP Pavilion dv6-3225dx Entertainment Notebook PC
I recently replaced a HDD with a new SSD into my Hp Pavilion dm4 1265dx and did a re-installation of windows. I have already downloaded and installed most of the drivers required but I am having a hard time trying to find and install Hp Simple pass identity/finger print reader.
Is there anyway to re-install Hp simple pass without having to pay?
i am having problems with my finger print scanner.
i have an HP Pavilion dm4-3107tx Beats Edition Entertainment Notebook PC. it cannot recognize my windows password when i try to register my fingerprint for windows logon.
i know that the password that i've entered is correct and i have even tried logging in to HP SimplePass via my windows password.
i have tried lots of troubleshooting by following threads from this forum and also following instructions from the HP support website.
-i have an up-to-date BIOS -my SimplePass version is 6.0.100.276 (latest) -my biometrics device driver version is 3.4.4.84 (latest)
I have an HP Elitebook 8530w with Windows 7 32-bit. I did not buy this laptop, it was a gift from a friend. I have gotten recently, just a few days ago. I have not used the fingerprint sensor previously before today. I went on the HP site and went to get the driver for the fingerprint sensor. Here is the link to that page. I tried to install the AuthenTec Fingerprint Sensor Driver but it did not work, it said the installation process was interuppted and to try again later. So I tried again later and the same happened. So I uninstalled and checked to see if there were any later versions. I had not looked to see that the original one I installed from the drivers page was from March 17 2010.
I did some researching around and found version 6.0.100.272 of HP Simplepass (The AuthenTec Driver had HP Simplepass installation included). I installed this version and it worked. I opened it up and it prompted me to enter my windows account password. So I did. I then clicked Set Up Windows Log On and it told me to enter my Windows password again. I did but it didn't work So I tried again... and again... and again... It didn't work no matter how many times I tried. I tried restarting my laptop and changing my account password. Neither worked. So I'm confused as to what could be the problem. I would very much like to use this feature.
I am having trouble with HP SimplePass. Every so often it stops working and won't input password details for my saved websites. Moreover, if I then try to log in to any website manully, the web browser just hangs and won't log in. If I untick the option to allow HP SimplePass to log in to my saved websites, and then reboot my laptop, I can then log in to websites again. However, if I later re-enable Simple Pass it starts working again, only for the problem to resurface at a later date. Due to the sporadic nature of the problem I have been unable to pinpoint the cause, and, as far as I am aware, I have the most recent version of SimplePass.
I am using a HP Pavilion 15-n271ea Laptop (Windows 8.1), with Internet Explorer 11.
ive got a slight problem with my laptop. 2-3 months ago i added an addition gig of ram to my acer aspire 3050 for a total of 1.5gbs. it was the correct type of ram(i made sure it was the same as what was already in there). for some reason the computer will recognize that the ram has been placed in the slot but it does use it at all. when i am running programs will it will still draw what's needed from the hard drive even though peak usage rarely surpassed 700mb of ram. was there something i was supposed to activate/adjust after installing the ram?
and another disconcerting thing is that since i installed the ram the fan is on fullblast 100% of the time and the machine heats up almost to the point of overheating really fast even when doing basic things like surfing the web
I have been searching for days for Blu-ray help. Apparently after everything I've looked at, ACER really screwed up their ads of blu-ray on computer. Because, even though my notebook should play blu-rays....it wont even recognize the disc. It tells me there is nothing there. I am getting really fustrated that there are no drivers or any other useful help out there.
I have a DV6000T with Windows MCE bought in Jan 07. It came with 2 GB of RAM, and I finally decided to upgrade to 4 (although I know it can only read 3.12). I bought 2 x 2GB Kingston DDR 2 PC2-5300 667 MHz RAM and installed both sticks into my DV. I turned on the thing expecting to see 3.12 or something of the sort in the system area, but it still only shows 2GB.
I received my E6400. In short, I like it. It came with 1gb of Ram. So I ordered 4gb of Crucial (2x2gb) ddr2 6400 to put in it.
Well. It's only recognizing one stick of it. The Ram itself is not bad. I've verified this by placing each stick in individually and I get no errors. Would there be any reason the computer would not be recognizing that second stick that isn't hardware?
The bios says the second slot is empty. Which either means that for some reason the software isn't recognizing the ram or the second slot itself is bad?
Ah...specs. Started out with XP. It did the same thing. only 1 stick was recognized. I've installed Vista Home Premium 64-bit. T9800 Bluetooth upgrade was user installed. What other system info do you need?
My Inspiron 11 (3000 Series) is not recogning its own battery. its not even turning on unless I have it plugged in (I checked it on two separate cords). I've checked it in the utility boot, and the battery is registered as unrecognized.
Yesterday, my laptop stopped recognizing the ac adapter. It's been functioning fine until now. Now, it will not charge the battery and I can only use my computer with the cord. I purchased in late 2011 or early 2012.
Have read other dell model posts that suggest replacing the adapter, battery, updating BIOS, etc. Haven't seen anything related to my model.
I can no longer use Simple Pass to log into a BOA on-line account. When I swipe my finger, a message indicates that simple pass is launching the address but nothing happens and the website doesn't open.Simple Pass came with my HP Pavilion DV6T-7000 CTO laptop with a 64 bit operating system. I currently use windows 7. Google Chrome is my default search engine but I also use IE on occasion. Previously when my Simple Pass worked, my BOA location was only opening in IE.
I've got an odd problem - my iPhone neither charges nor is recognised by USB2 on my 3810T. Tried same lead and phone on desktop and other PCs no problem. I'm running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit on both laptop and main PC.
My normal iPod classic connects and charges fine via the 3810T as do other peripherals like the external DVD-RW and memory sticks. Sony Ericsson mobile phone connects and charges too.
Can anyone explain this or has anyone either had the same problem or have connected successfully with an iPhone?
A friend brought me a Aspire 3023WLMi few weeks ago. Problem: Unable to boot. BIOS didn't recognize harddrive. I switched it to another laptop which reported SMART-error. I replaced it with another harddrive. Now BIOS still won't recognize harddrive or DVD-drive (can't remember if it recognized DVD earlier with original harddrive). I can't open DVD-drive, so obviously it's not getting any power. if this a sign of broken MB, or just loose cabling? Or something else? If it's loose cabling, how to check it?
i recently had a post here about my laptop being thrown up on, and looking for a new system board. Well I was able to buy the whole laptop base, with system board and power button so all i had to do was install the screen cd drive, hard drive, and wireless. I did all of this and put it back together, but when i try to start the computer it gives me a no hard drive installed error. What can I do? I ran the memory test and its 100% working, and in the start up test or whatever, the only thing with a problem is the hard drive not showing up.
I just got a new tx2z yesterday, opened it up, took forever cuz of bloatware. I downloaded a copy of windows 7 from MSDNAA (Thank you college) and installed it and found drivers for the pen and everything.
I knew from the reviews that the tablet runs HOT, and was going to use RMClock since I heard people using it to undervolt their processor. However, RMClock 2.35 does not recognize my processor (AMD Turion Ultra ZM-83 2.3ghz)
I did the vista 64-bit RMClock fix in order to run the application, but since it doesn't recognize the processor, there's nothing I can do to undervolt it.
Also, does anyone know of any fan control software that I can install that works? Something like I8K for dell that works on the tx2z? (64 bit windows 7 that is)
