HP EliteBook 8530w OS/Software :: SimplePass Will Not Recognize Windows Password
Aug 14, 2014
I have an HP Elitebook 8530w with Windows 7 32-bit. I did not buy this laptop, it was a gift from a friend. I have gotten recently, just a few days ago. I have not used the fingerprint sensor previously before today. I went on the HP site and went to get the driver for the fingerprint sensor. Here is the link to that page. I tried to install the AuthenTec Fingerprint Sensor Driver but it did not work, it said the installation process was interuppted and to try again later. So I tried again later and the same happened. So I uninstalled and checked to see if there were any later versions. I had not looked to see that the original one I installed from the drivers page was from March 17 2010.
I did some researching around and found version 6.0.100.272 of HP Simplepass (The AuthenTec Driver had HP Simplepass installation included). I installed this version and it worked. I opened it up and it prompted me to enter my windows account password. So I did. I then clicked Set Up Windows Log On and it told me to enter my Windows password again. I did but it didn't work So I tried again... and again... and again... It didn't work no matter how many times I tried. I tried restarting my laptop and changing my account password. Neither worked. So I'm confused as to what could be the problem. I would very much like to use this feature.
i am having problems with my finger print scanner.
i have an HP Pavilion dm4-3107tx Beats Edition Entertainment Notebook PC. it cannot recognize my windows password when i try to register my fingerprint for windows logon.
i know that the password that i've entered is correct and i have even tried logging in to HP SimplePass via my windows password.
i have tried lots of troubleshooting by following threads from this forum and also following instructions from the HP support website.
-i have an up-to-date BIOS -my SimplePass version is 6.0.100.276 (latest) -my biometrics device driver version is 3.4.4.84 (latest)
Just got one of these, and the power brick is well erm.. a brick!
I need / want to get a third party one that is hopefully smaller, so does anyone know of one suitable? or, if not.. know of what i should be looking at to try and find one?
How can I get HP to replace my LCD? I really am rather tired of the support hassles!
A few months ago, I accidentally dropped my EliteBook 8530w (and since I knew it was bound to happen eventually, I did buy it with ADP). After I got the thing back (after waiting on the replacement LCD screen to come in stock, I've noticed some odd issues related to the screen:The screen seems to have some permanent "smudges" on the screen -- dark areas, that I can't clean off.The EDID seems to be messed up -- it misidentifies the panel name, size, and available non-native modes.
The old LCD identified itself properly as an LP154WU1-TLC2. It offered 1920x1200, 1440x900, 1280x800, and such resolutions..................
my elitebook 8530w seems to boot up slow w/ 64 bit vista. i did a clean install and installed the drivers. Ex. it will say "please wait" for 20 seconds before going to the "welcome" screen. after "welcome" comes up..it does boot to the desktop very fast and is ready to go though. what is causing vista to hang like this at the welcome screen?
My specs 8GB(4gb x 2) ddr2-667mhz memory qx9300 quad core processor- this thing is a beast! vista x64
We couldn't for the life of us get the Seagate HDD recognized when plugged inside the eSATA port. Worked fine via the alternative IEEE1394 connector, though. The "super-duper" trick recommended by the manufacturer, consisting of mere rescanning drives with the HDD manager in Computer Management did not effect in anything. Nor did installation of Intel's hard drive manager (which came with a driver update under the veil)
But the dealer whom he bought the HDD from insisted that the HDD worked fine via eSATA, so it doesn't appear to be a hardware problem, nor could a defective cable be the culprit, since he used the very same.
I have a EliteBook 8470p and i lost my bios password. When I press F10 for enter in BIOS, after 3 failures a screen appears and ask me to add code (with virtual keybord). I have no code. So, it said computer is locked and I need to restart.
Product Name : HP EliteBOok 8570p System Bios Version 68ICF ver F.45
Lost my admin BIOS pwd. Created case for support. They`ve sent me bin file to put on USB or HP_TOOLS partition and power up system with "Windows+ ArrowUP+ArrowDown" buttons.Howerver, when i power up system like this, nothing changes in startup at all.Do those buttons really mean something?I see from Internet that autoflash BIOS combo is Windows+B and Power.
My client has an elitebook 8440p and has been using the fingerprint logon for so long he has forgotten his bios password. There is no setup of security questions or usb spare key available.
We can get into the bios via fingerprint but cannot remove the bios password or regain this password. From what I understand, even though he can log in with his finger and access the bios with his finger, he cannot remove or change his typed password.
From other posts I saw that HP emailed a file to remove the bios security to the user in similar cases. I am looking for who he should contact, via email, phone, etc, to get his bios security removed. Again, he can access using his fingerprint only at this point and wants to remove all security at this point.
When I bought this pc, It was Windows 8. I updated my pc to latest windows 8.1. After first update SimplePass stopped working on every browser except Internet Explorer. It stopped working on the log in screen too. But for no reason it started working on the log on screen suddenly. I contacted HP through chat support. They said SimplePass is designed to work only with Internet Explorer. Other browsers might work or not. That's fine. According to her (HP Agent) SimplePass is still working.
But after the last update SimplePass stopped working totally except the log in screen. I click on the SimplePass icon... no response... I swipe on the finger print reader... nothing happens. But the it only works on the windows log in screen. Bellow is my current pc info. I think HP should update SimplePass.

I am having trouble with HP SimplePass. Every so often it stops working and won't input password details for my saved websites. Moreover, if I then try to log in to any website manully, the web browser just hangs and won't log in. If I untick the option to allow HP SimplePass to log in to my saved websites, and then reboot my laptop, I can then log in to websites again. However, if I later re-enable Simple Pass it starts working again, only for the problem to resurface at a later date. Due to the sporadic nature of the problem I have been unable to pinpoint the cause, and, as far as I am aware, I have the most recent version of SimplePass.
I am using a HP Pavilion 15-n271ea Laptop (Windows 8.1), with Internet Explorer 11.
I have validity drivers installed on this machine but not able to find HP SimplePass Identity Protection Software for my HP ProBook 450 G2 running Windows 8.1 64 bit.
I have just upgraded my Dell Inspiron 15 (N5010) from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro I need to update the ATI driver but Dell does not recognize the Windows 8 Pro OS. Dell only shows the 2 previous os's on my system Windows 7 and Vista. without the driver I am having problems viewing pages. Below is my system info

I've installed The one control/utility file The 4 System component files the 3 wireless files
It recognized the intel wireless from the beginning under hardware however even after installing all those files and rebooting I can't get it to recognize the switch is turned on for the wireless. In smartwi it says they are turned off. Is there a software way of turning them on?
Windows 8.1 Pro does not recognize Touchsmart. This work like a mouse when I click on the display. In properties of system, says that won't have a pen and touch.
I have an HP Pavilion dv4 Notebook running Windows 7 Home Premium and the USB ports worked fine for an HP deskjet printer and an older Casio digital camera. Then one day, the laptop decided not to recognize the Casio digital camera and gave the error message "USB Device Not Recognized" and also indicated that the device attached to the computer has malfunctioned. This prompted me to buy a new Canon digital camera. Well, a new camera did not fix the problem. Now, anything connected to either of the 2 USB ports will not be recognized by my laptop.
I've tried the suggested Microsoft below:
1: For the issue with USB devices, uninstall and re-install all the USB controllers. This lets the controllers recover the USB port from its unresponsive condition. The USB controllers represent the USB ports in Device Manager.
a. Click Start, type device manager in the Start search box and hit Enter. b. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Note: You might have to scroll down the list to find this item. c. Right-click the first USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then click Uninstall to remove it. d. Repeat the above step for each USB controller that is listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers. e. Restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and reinstall all the USB controllers that you uninstalled. f. Check the USB device to see whether it is working.
This did not correct the problem. Then from device manager, I tried updating drivers on all the USB controllers and root hubs. While some may have received downloaded software updates, it still did not correct the USB device not recognized problem after restarting the computer.
I just got the Elitebook 850 G1 and I've put all the settings to sleep when I close the lid and wake up when I open it. I've checked both settings in windows and in the BIOS and it's all good but when I actually do it, it doesn't wake up but restarts the computer instead. So when I've been typing away on Word, I constantly save it but it doesn't go back to where I left it. I thought it was one of the graphics drivers at first, because it has dual graphics, intel and ati. It's had some issues with the ATI but I think I've fixed it. I'm running windows 8.1 Pro.
I tried changing the settings to hibernate instead and what it gave me was a BSOD. Video_dxgkrnl_fatal_error. i remember it did that the first time i tried to do it before when it was on sleep mode.
I have an HP Pavilion m6 running Windows 7 Home Premium.
My workplace installed a router a few months ago. It's a Cisco E2000. My laptop will not recognize the wireless signal from the router. It recognizes about 10 other wireless signals from other locations outside the office. My phone also recognizes the router and can connect to it no problem. I've installed all the updates for Windows 7 and for the HP laptop. I've also installed the latest driver for the wifi card in the laptop.
I just bought a Dell Inspiron 3521 i3 with Ubuntu. I installed Windows 7 32-bit, but the OS does not recognize the AMD display adapter. I installed the drivers from the Dell website.
Windows doesn't recognize that my U530 Touch Laptop has a touch screen. Worked okay for the first couple of months. I've tried looking for hardware updates and restarting. Computer is only a few months old, so this stinks.
I recently bought the upgrade but this is the first time I am upgrading Windows as I usually do clean installs. Is there anything I should pay attention to? Are the drivers already there for Win7 and are there any known issues?
I am using HP EliteBook 8440p,with Window 7 professional. I installed the Bluetooth driver downloaded from HP but the Wireless Asistant still showing my Bluetooth as disable, I can not enable and the caption say "This device has been disabled in the computer setup utility and cannot be enabled from Wireless Assistant.
The Bluetooth icon is also missing in Control Panel tray.
I just received a new HP EliteBook 840 G1 and i'm trying to use the biometric finger print device. I'm on win8 x64, Ive installed the drivers:
Validity FingerPrint Sensor Driver 4.5.133.0 Installed HP simplepass 6.0.100.276
But the i can't enable the windows logon, it keeps telling me my password is wrong (which is not true)...And the biometric reader is not recognized in the control panel...
Because I did a fresh install for windows 7, I used a operating disc, meaning I had to download the drivers on here. The problem is, where do I download the option to let me use recovery? Its like a black window prompt the gives me the options. I have home edition. Wheres the link to download.
Does the Microsoft Window's 7 installation CD automatically recognize the mSATA and the Optimus in conjunction with the Intel HD 4000 as well as the fingerprint reader for login? Or do I have to download the drivers and install ExpressCache separately off of Lenovo's website... trying to stay clear of Lenovo drivers that might conflict with Intel's and NVIDIA's.
I have a EliteBook 8730w sinds 2010 and I just installed Windows 8.1.Now I don't have any access to my SD reader.According to the device manager the SD reader driver is up to date and is working, but I don't see the SD reader in the file explorer. The SD reader is a RICOH.In the device manager I have some problems with Other devices:
1) Base system device 2) Base system device 3) Fingerprint sensor 4) Unknown device
I suppose that the problem must be in Other devices.
