I am using HP EliteBook 8440p,with Window 7 professional. I installed the Bluetooth driver downloaded from HP but the Wireless Asistant still showing my Bluetooth as disable, I can not enable and the caption say "This device has been disabled in the computer setup utility and cannot be enabled from Wireless Assistant.
The Bluetooth icon is also missing in Control Panel tray.

I've checked the settings, bios and also made sure the wireless card installed in the laptop works. Drivers are installed correctly. When troubleshooting, it comes up with "turn on the wireless". The HP Wireless Assistant has the following message: Wireless LAN Adapter: This device is disabled in the device manager and cannot be enabled from Wirelss Assistant. It can still be turned off.
I have checked the device manager do not see where to turn it on.
There is a blue light on the above the keyboard and on the front side of the laptop. It's turned on in the bios. I've tried to resintall the driver.
The wireless device model # installed is:

How to proceed? I hope to avoid a complete resinstall.

Validity FingerPrint Sensor Driver 4.5.133.0
Installed HP simplepass 6.0.100.276
But the i can't enable the windows logon, it keeps telling me my password is wrong (which is not true)...And the biometric reader is not recognized in the control panel...

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have finally tested the Acer Empowering Technology software on my Acer D150.
Great news, the software works to enable/disable the Bluetooth module on the netbook without physically pressing the button. This is great for people like me that do not have the button on top to push the button inside. There are two software needed for people to get this running on the D150. First is the required Acer Empowering Framework software and the second is the Acer ePower Management. Once both software are installed on the system, the setting to enable/disable the Bluetooth module is in the ePower Management.
Power profiles within windows will probably be reset to default, so those would have to be readjusted if a user changed them. I am actually running Windows Vista on my Acer D150 with the Acer Empowering Technology software for Vista. I am not 100% sure if the software will also work on XP, but from the notebookreview forums, I believe it should work just as fine (but more options on other Empowering Technology software).
(in XP, the driver also works, but need XP edition, not vista editon).
I recentlly bought a new HP 14-d106TX laptop. I have installed all the drivers from HP website.

My system is HP Envy m6 1104tx. It came with Windows 8 (64-bit) preinstalled and everything was fine until I chose to upgrade to Windows 8.1.
After checking with CompMgmt.msc I found that I had RaLink 3290 802.11 Wi-Fi adapter. Just below Network adapters I have 'Other Devices' and under it 'Bluetooth Controller' with a yellow exclamation mark on it. I tried updating the drivers, but it says "Windows was unable to install bluetooth controller' (could not find driver software for your device).
I updated almost all the possible device drivers, but this 'Bluetooth Controller' still shows a yellow exclamation on it.
Also in CompMgmt.msc I dont find 'Bluetooth' or 'Bluetooth Module' but instead there is a 'Bluetooth Profiles Devices' and inside that 'Bluetooth Profile Interface Driver'. I tried updating it but the result was again as mentioned above.
So, how do I troubleshoot this? How do I get Bluetooth work on my Envy m6?
And yes I ran HP Support Assistance, but it says everything's fine. And in reality it isn't, Bluetooth not working.
I have HP model G6-2284CA with Windows 8 and my bluetooth has stopped working.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a used Elitebook 8540w with i7 quad core and four memory slots (I love it!). It is running 64 bit Windows 7 Professional It came with one 4gb memory module and I purchased an additional 4gb module to bring total RAM to 8gb.
I have the HP document that shows for two 4gb memory modules, one should be in memory slot 1 and the other in memory slot 3 for correct functioning of dual channel memory. All set right?

In the Elitebook 8540w, the primary memory slots under the keyboard are clearly labeled "1" and "2" However, the expansion memory slots on the underside of the chassis are also clearly labeled "1" and "2" Opps! I have a new HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 running Windows 7 64 bit. The computer can see wireless networks, but when I try to connect to them I get a pop up saying "Wireless: assocaiting" followed by one saying "Wireless: disconnected" and the connection never works. This happens no matter which wireless network I connect to. I know the networks and passwords are correct, because both my iPad and phone can connect to them without issues.
I have updated all drivers via Windows Update and also the SP Support Assistant. I have tried uninstalling the wireless driver and allowing Windows to discover and install from scratch. Nothing seems to work.
I have a problem with my wifi. The button is always appearing orange, and nothing happens when I press it: no errors, no messages, no reaction at all. Therefore I cannot use wifi connection.

My windows crashed and I recovered it from the archive created a couple days prior to that. Archive included all hard drives data, so system was restored exactly as it was prior to the crash. I am still not sure if this caused the problem (or if the problem appeared after that): it happened a month ago, and I didn't have WiFi available back then, and only tried to turn it on a couple days ago.
Additional details:
In device manager wireless card is showing up as working normally. In adapter management wireless connection is turned on but says "no connection available". If I run the diagnostics, it asks me to turn on WIFI with a button on my laptop, which I cannot do. In mobility center it says "wireless connection is turned off". Turn on button is gray, and impossible to click on.
Things I already tried:
Reinstalled all HP drivers from the original CD;Removed WiFi card in windows device manager (deleted the device), restarted windows, installed new drivers for it, restarted again;Checked mobility center as was suggested in one of the threads found on this forum;Made a hard reset for HP laptop (removed battery, pressed on/off button for full minute).
I have a HP G60-519WM laptop. The wireless connection is off. It tells me to "Use the switch on the front side of the computer, or function keys if available to enable wireless capability on this computer. I cannot find that switch or button anywhere. I'm not sure how it was turned off as it is not my laptop. One day it worked the next day it didn't.
