I have a DV6000T with Windows MCE bought in Jan 07. It came with 2 GB of RAM, and I finally decided to upgrade to 4 (although I know it can only read 3.12). I bought 2 x 2GB Kingston DDR 2 PC2-5300 667 MHz RAM and installed both sticks into my DV. I turned on the thing expecting to see 3.12 or something of the sort in the system area, but it still only shows 2GB.

my laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6000t (built in Dec 2006). I have upgraded to the latest BIOS, F.29, and I have heard that with this latest BIOS, it should be able to support up to 4GB of RAM, 3GB with a 32-bit Win XP, which I have. Today I upgraded my RAM from 1.5GB to 2.5GB (1x2GB, 1x512MB), but my OS only recognizes 1.5GB of RAM.
I contacted HP support, and they told me to interchange the memory modules. I did that, and it didn't change anything. I contacted them again, and they told me that the max supported is 1.75GB, and anything beyond that "HP is not responsible for."
Also, I'd like to upgrade my hard drive from 160GB to 320GB, but HP tech support told me that my build only supports up to 160GB. Can it support 320GB?
I'm going to college this fall, and my school recommends that I have 3GB of memory and 250GB HD installed. My laptop is only 2.5 years old, which is why I'm reluctant to replace it. Tell me, is 3GB RAM/320GB HD possible on HP's dv6000t, or will I need to replace my computer?
I was playing a game BF2142, and I have been playing it for 4 months, but today when I decided to play again it would not read the DVD , and then I looked at MyComputer and I saw that I could not even see the DVD drive. When I go to device manager I just see a ! sign on my DVD and I cant do anything about it. I have been looking for drivers for the DVD drive but I cant seem to find any.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a DV9500tCTO and a DV6000tCTO. Both of them had the issue of good hard drive to SD card performance, but abhorible SD to hard drive performance. It would run one core to 100% and 75% for the other. I contacted HP today about it and they told me about the F.59 BIOS that was designed to fix the issue. My current had been F.52. So I loaded it on my 9000 and rebooted, all good, better temps, and my SD worked as it should. So they said load it on the 6000 and check results. Everything seemed to go fine, said successful, brought up reboot message box, let the timer count down as normal, it shut down. Hit power button and fricking nothing! Black screen, and leds come on. Mute button turns orange, then goes blue and stays blue. Wireless light is orange. The fan starts up fast then slows to a quiet (like minimum speed) run. I don't know what to do. "Within the next 24-48 hours" my escalated case correspondant is supposed to call. I'm a college student. I cannot afford to replace this crap. And I can't afford 300$ charge i've been seeing float around for BIOS repair by HP. My 9000 still has 1.5 years of warranty, I wish it would have happened to it. My 6000 is out of warranty. I gotta have this second laptop for school, no way around it. But I can't afford to replace it right now, I just paid 6,500$ in tuition/rent/books. I did this according to a service techs recommendation, I don't see how I should have to pay for the ed update.

Yesterday I left my computer for 3 minutes unatended, and when I returned I saw that the screen was on but there was no picture. Something like a blank screensaver. So I restarted, but the screen still was not displaying anything. There is only backlight with absolutely no image whatsoever.
So I plugged in the laptop today to an external monitor, and the monitor displayed bars of RGB lines all over the place. So I am wonderring what do you guys think could have went wrong? Do you think it could be the GPU, bad connection? I can see that there is some HD activity going on through the led but nothing loads or makes a sound.
Any one BIOS update known to be better than the rest?
I am reading a good deal on the boards, and people like F.16, but I don't know which would work best in my situation. My main issue is being able to see the 3.12 GB of RAM after I put 2 2GB sticks in.
I have XP MCE , T7200 which came with the DV6000T bought in Jan 07.
I just want it to run cooler and faster, so far it has been a workhorse.

i've had this DV6000t (or dv6500) for quite some time. I believe i've had it since 2007, but really started using it a lot from 2009, running almost 24/7.
Here's the situation: I was playing a bit of Starcraft 2, and decided it would be fun to drop a dozen Terrain Ghost Nukes in an area. For those familiar with the game, you may notice a lot of lag when you do that. I didn't know it would lag like that until my computer abruptly shut off on me. Now nothing lights up except for the AC jack. I checked the vents, HDD, RAM, and other spots that may have heated up a lot, but nothing was really running hot. I'm familiar with how hot my laptop can be; the laptop was just 'warm' right after shutdown.
My guess is that I either:
-Overheated the laptop, which is what anyone would probably expect since HP Pavilions are well known for this, or...
-I may have had a power surge while I was playing.
So, I investigated my opening up my laptop to see if there were any physical damages.
It's hard to see with the blurry picture, but I actually think the chips didn't burn out. But i'm no expert with fried chips......
i recently had a post here about my laptop being thrown up on, and looking for a new system board. Well I was able to buy the whole laptop base, with system board and power button so all i had to do was install the screen cd drive, hard drive, and wireless. I did all of this and put it back together, but when i try to start the computer it gives me a no hard drive installed error. What can I do? I ran the memory test and its 100% working, and in the start up test or whatever, the only thing with a problem is the hard drive not showing up.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got a new tx2z yesterday, opened it up, took forever cuz of bloatware. I downloaded a copy of windows 7 from MSDNAA (Thank you college) and installed it and found drivers for the pen and everything.
I knew from the reviews that the tablet runs HOT, and was going to use RMClock since I heard people using it to undervolt their processor. However, RMClock 2.35 does not recognize my processor (AMD Turion Ultra ZM-83 2.3ghz)
I did the vista 64-bit RMClock fix in order to run the application, but since it doesn't recognize the processor, there's nothing I can do to undervolt it.
Also, does anyone know of any fan control software that I can install that works? Something like I8K for dell that works on the tx2z? (64 bit windows 7 that is)
ive got a slight problem with my laptop. 2-3 months ago i added an addition gig of ram to my acer aspire 3050 for a total of 1.5gbs. it was the correct type of ram(i made sure it was the same as what was already in there). for some reason the computer will recognize that the ram has been placed in the slot but it does use it at all. when i am running programs will it will still draw what's needed from the hard drive even though peak usage rarely surpassed 700mb of ram. was there something i was supposed to activate/adjust after installing the ram?
and another disconcerting thing is that since i installed the ram the fan is on fullblast 100% of the time and the machine heats up almost to the point of overheating really fast even when doing basic things like surfing the web
I have been searching for days for Blu-ray help. Apparently after everything I've looked at, ACER really screwed up their ads of blu-ray on computer. Because, even though my notebook should play blu-rays....it wont even recognize the disc. It tells me there is nothing there. I am getting really fustrated that there are no drivers or any other useful help out there.

Well. It's only recognizing one stick of it. The Ram itself is not bad. I've verified this by placing each stick in individually and I get no errors. Would there be any reason the computer would not be recognizing that second stick that isn't hardware?
The bios says the second slot is empty. Which either means that for some reason the software isn't recognizing the ram or the second slot itself is bad?

My Inspiron 11 (3000 Series) is not recogning its own battery. its not even turning on unless I have it plugged in (I checked it on two separate cords). I've checked it in the utility boot, and the battery is registered as unrecognized.
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday, my laptop stopped recognizing the ac adapter. It's been functioning fine until now. Now, it will not charge the battery and I can only use my computer with the cord. I purchased in late 2011 or early 2012.
Have read other dell model posts that suggest replacing the adapter, battery, updating BIOS, etc. Haven't seen anything related to my model.
I've got an odd problem - my iPhone neither charges nor is recognised by USB2 on my 3810T. Tried same lead and phone on desktop and other PCs no problem. I'm running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit on both laptop and main PC.
My normal iPod classic connects and charges fine via the 3810T as do other peripherals like the external DVD-RW and memory sticks. Sony Ericsson mobile phone connects and charges too.
Can anyone explain this or has anyone either had the same problem or have connected successfully with an iPhone?
A friend brought me a Aspire 3023WLMi few weeks ago. Problem: Unable to boot. BIOS didn't recognize harddrive. I switched it to another laptop which reported SMART-error. I replaced it with another harddrive. Now BIOS still won't recognize harddrive or DVD-drive (can't remember if it recognized DVD earlier with original harddrive). I can't open DVD-drive, so obviously it's not getting any power. if this a sign of broken MB, or just loose cabling? Or something else? If it's loose cabling, how to check it?

I ordered a fan that was stated it would fit all macbook's except the macbook with unibody.
It was shipped from the US and i live in Sweden so it took a while. I recieved it today and lo and behold, it does not fit.
I've opened up a dispute with the seller but i need to fix my laptop asap so i need to get another fan somewhere.
I will probably be buying from ebay since it's cheaper, but this time i want to be certain i get the right part.
I wanted to ask if i can identify what fan i want and don't just go by the description of the item (since that fooled me once)?............
my brand new lenovo y50 touch. Straight out of the box, everything works beautifully except one major thing: the touch screen doesn't work. I know it is the touch version and settings even calls it "lenovo y50-70 touch" but below that it reads "No pen or touch input available for this display" ...what?? there are also no drivers on lenovo's support page that say anything about touch.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the HP envy and I have been using simple pass fine for ages but then I tried to rescan my fingers to fix it because it seemed to be having a lot of trouble recognising me so when I went through I deleted the fingers and tried to input them again but whenever I scan one of my fingers it says that the finger is already enrolled HOWEVER when i scan my finger outside of the program it asks me to setup HP simple pass but when you click configure it doesnt open the program
I have tried repairing the program with the control panel
So How can I reset the program to a fresh install? Is there a place where I can download a replacement copy?
Every time I turn on my Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop, I get the following message:
"The AC adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. The system will adjust the performance to match the power available. Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or greater for the best system performance."
I don't know why I am getting this message since:
- I am using the 65W Dell AC adapter that came with the laptop- The adapter is charging the battery properly- The green light on the adapter stays on all the time when in use- The port connection is fine
So, other than this annoying error message, everything seems to be working fine. Should I just ignore it ? If not, what else do you recommend I do ?
I updated my computer to windows 8.1, and now it doesnt recognize the Nvidia 755M graphics card. I even went to this URL... website and tried to run the .bat file, but it showed up with an error stating "Error: Invalid Display Adapter Index specified".

Now it won't boot at all. It isn't recognizing the hard drive. Is there a way to have the bios look for the hard drive? Running win7 64bit

I am having a problem with the mouse, both the touchpad, and when I plug an external mouse in (although the problem seems to occur with somewhat less frequency when I am using the external mouse). The computer is having trouble recognizing mouse clicks. Sometimes it recognizes them properly, sometimes it responds to left clicks as if they were right clicks, and sometimes it does not respond to them at all. The problem seems to be worse when I am using a web browser, but it occurs consistently.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI put a new Windows 8 on my pc due too my old HDD dying --' and my recovery partition was corrupted so i had to clone the c:/ drive of a friend of mine with a similar laptop on my new sshd.
Until now everything was working fine some double drivers but they posed no problems but i have 1 problem with my 1 usb 3.0 port, it won't recognise anything, when i put in my external hdd it fires up so i know the port is giving power but it doens't recognise the drive, same goes for my usb wireless mouse and usb drive.
I know its not the drives or mouse themselves because when i put them in one of my usb 2.0 ports they function without problem.
I have already tried uninstalling the drivers, restarting the computer, took out the battery for several minutes and so on.
I also remarked that in the devices and printers there is a device called unknown USB device (port reset failed)...
I've a new P276M laptop running Windows 8.1. I can't get it read USB flash storage devices.
The USB ports seem to be working - wireless mouse OK. Also it works fine with an external Seagate hard drive.
I've tried a number of different flash keys - encrypted and non-encrypted. The system 'sees' the device but all I can get in Device Manager is an icon with yellow exclamation mark.
I have a Acer Aspire V5-572G running Windows 8.1 and have found that the microphone jack won't recognise any external mic that is placed into it. It won't detect on the sound option despite the fact all the drivers are updated.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Latitude E6820 and have just connected a new Dell E-Port Plus II Docking station. Plugged in to the docking station are two monitors, one plugged into DVI Connector 1 and the other plugged into DVI Connector 2. The laptop is running Windows 7 64 bit.
Try as I might, I can not get the system to recognise the second monitor. I have tried the following to get this to work.
- Enabled Optimus (I think that is what it was called in the BIOS) - When I enabled this, neither of the monitors would work via the docking station
- Disabled Optimus - One monitor works
- Attempted to detect the other monitor via Control Panel > Display > Adjust Resolution (monitor not detected)
- Swapped monitors and cables in case it was a cable or monitor issue. All Cables and Monitors have been verified as working as expected.
- Attempted to connect one monitor via VGA cable. Only one monitor was detected
When I connect the USB 3.0 dock to my T440s, I then cannot get the second LCD monitor to be recognised by Windows via the USB3.0.
The monitor is not being recognised as it is is not seen as one of the optional displays in the 'Intel HD Graphics control panel' window.
The driver however for the second monitor is fully up to date and it works fine when I connect the LCD to the VGA port directly on my computer. Also the second monitor is being recognised partly by the windows OS as it comes up as a second screen under the 'screen resolution' window.
My set up is shown below. I am thinking that perhaps there is an issue with either the NVIDIA or Intel HD graphics chip. I read somewhere that windows uses one or the other depending on the load. I am worried that there is some problem with that mechanism. All driver are up to date.

My dell inspiron N5110 has stopped to work. It even does't start at all. BIOS has not recognize HDD. I push from laptop and connect other PC's. But still not answer. I think HDD's noise is normal some chip is crashed . I need restore some data from this HDD.
My HDD is Toshiba, 500GB, 7200RPM
When booting up, the bios does not recognize the supervisor or HDD passwords.
