I have a DV9500tCTO and a DV6000tCTO. Both of them had the issue of good hard drive to SD card performance, but abhorible SD to hard drive performance. It would run one core to 100% and 75% for the other. I contacted HP today about it and they told me about the F.59 BIOS that was designed to fix the issue. My current had been F.52. So I loaded it on my 9000 and rebooted, all good, better temps, and my SD worked as it should. So they said load it on the 6000 and check results. Everything seemed to go fine, said successful, brought up reboot message box, let the timer count down as normal, it shut down. Hit power button and fricking nothing! Black screen, and leds come on. Mute button turns orange, then goes blue and stays blue. Wireless light is orange. The fan starts up fast then slows to a quiet (like minimum speed) run. I don't know what to do. "Within the next 24-48 hours" my escalated case correspondant is supposed to call. I'm a college student. I cannot afford to replace this crap. And I can't afford 300$ charge i've been seeing float around for BIOS repair by HP. My 9000 still has 1.5 years of warranty, I wish it would have happened to it. My 6000 is out of warranty. I gotta have this second laptop for school, no way around it. But I can't afford to replace it right now, I just paid 6,500$ in tuition/rent/books. I did this according to a service techs recommendation, I don't see how I should have to pay for the ed update.
Any one BIOS update known to be better than the rest?
I am reading a good deal on the boards, and people like F.16, but I don't know which would work best in my situation. My main issue is being able to see the 3.12 GB of RAM after I put 2 2GB sticks in.
I have XP MCE , T7200 which came with the DV6000T bought in Jan 07.
I just want it to run cooler and faster, so far it has been a workhorse.
I went to hp's website and downloaded the new driver. The installation went to the point where it erased the old bios and closed. So, I ran it adian and it said that I still ha the old bios. I tried to run it agian and it claws at the same point. I continued to use the computer. After about a hour I decided to restart the computer. Now the lights on the computer comes on and I can hear the HD start up but the screen stays black and it seems to not post or start windows. All I see is a black screen and cannot get it to respond. Just a warning for other dv8t owners thinking about updating. Posting this from my iPhone
I have followed the method from this forum to flash my dv4t BIOS from F31 to F55, but , now my computer can not start when i push the power button!! it is black screen!
my laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6000t (built in Dec 2006). I have upgraded to the latest BIOS, F.29, and I have heard that with this latest BIOS, it should be able to support up to 4GB of RAM, 3GB with a 32-bit Win XP, which I have. Today I upgraded my RAM from 1.5GB to 2.5GB (1x2GB, 1x512MB), but my OS only recognizes 1.5GB of RAM.
I contacted HP support, and they told me to interchange the memory modules. I did that, and it didn't change anything. I contacted them again, and they told me that the max supported is 1.75GB, and anything beyond that "HP is not responsible for."
Also, I'd like to upgrade my hard drive from 160GB to 320GB, but HP tech support told me that my build only supports up to 160GB. Can it support 320GB?
I'm going to college this fall, and my school recommends that I have 3GB of memory and 250GB HD installed. My laptop is only 2.5 years old, which is why I'm reluctant to replace it. Tell me, is 3GB RAM/320GB HD possible on HP's dv6000t, or will I need to replace my computer?
I have a DV6000T with Windows MCE bought in Jan 07. It came with 2 GB of RAM, and I finally decided to upgrade to 4 (although I know it can only read 3.12). I bought 2 x 2GB Kingston DDR 2 PC2-5300 667 MHz RAM and installed both sticks into my DV. I turned on the thing expecting to see 3.12 or something of the sort in the system area, but it still only shows 2GB.
I was playing a game BF2142, and I have been playing it for 4 months, but today when I decided to play again it would not read the DVD , and then I looked at MyComputer and I saw that I could not even see the DVD drive. When I go to device manager I just see a ! sign on my DVD and I cant do anything about it. I have been looking for drivers for the DVD drive but I cant seem to find any.
Yesterday I left my computer for 3 minutes unatended, and when I returned I saw that the screen was on but there was no picture. Something like a blank screensaver. So I restarted, but the screen still was not displaying anything. There is only backlight with absolutely no image whatsoever.
So I plugged in the laptop today to an external monitor, and the monitor displayed bars of RGB lines all over the place. So I am wonderring what do you guys think could have went wrong? Do you think it could be the GPU, bad connection? I can see that there is some HD activity going on through the led but nothing loads or makes a sound.
i've had this DV6000t (or dv6500) for quite some time. I believe i've had it since 2007, but really started using it a lot from 2009, running almost 24/7.
Here's the situation: I was playing a bit of Starcraft 2, and decided it would be fun to drop a dozen Terrain Ghost Nukes in an area. For those familiar with the game, you may notice a lot of lag when you do that. I didn't know it would lag like that until my computer abruptly shut off on me. Now nothing lights up except for the AC jack. I checked the vents, HDD, RAM, and other spots that may have heated up a lot, but nothing was really running hot. I'm familiar with how hot my laptop can be; the laptop was just 'warm' right after shutdown.
My guess is that I either: -Overheated the laptop, which is what anyone would probably expect since HP Pavilions are well known for this, or... -I may have had a power surge while I was playing.
So, I investigated my opening up my laptop to see if there were any physical damages.
It's hard to see with the blurry picture, but I actually think the chips didn't burn out. But i'm no expert with fried chips......
I downloaded the latest 3813 bios from acer europe website. I am tying to run the winflash utility but I get the following error.
Cant load driver flashnt.sys
and so on, take a look at the screenshot
I have tried running as administrator already. Same error.
I was going to try running in vista compability mode or installing xp virtual machine, but I wanted to run it by you guys first.
Updating BIOS is not something to be taken lightly. It can birck your machine easily.
SO whats going on here?
Isn't there a way to update BIOS from the bios?
My asus desktop motherboard allows you to use asus ez flash utility from within the bios and flash from usb or your hdd. I wish this was the case here but I can see nothing of the sort.
I really didnt want to flash from within windows in the first place anyway, but I saw no other way. I'm supirsed there is no readme files or anything that came along with the file. And I cant see documentation on the acer website either. Just a link to the bios zipped with no support
I am currently runing bios 3805. The one that came with my laptop. I have had it for 2 years now and Im the process of trying to upgrade some things on it.
I recently bought an Acer 4810T943G (su9400) with Vista.
As seems to be common with Acer notebooks, it had a freezing problem, so I decided to flash the BIOS.
The version it shipped with was v1.10. I went to the Acer website and downloaded v1.31, extracted it, and executed the program. The InsydeFlash software told me 'This BIOS is not for your notebook'.
I tried the other BIOS recommended by Acer - v1.30, and even the special editions 2.30 and 2.31, but all came up with the same message.
I then located v1.28 from somewhere else, and this flashed successfully, but I still get freezes, so I'd like to try 1.30 or 1.31.
One thing I have noticed is that on the InsydeFlash software, the BIOS ID of v1.28 is described as JM41, whereas those of v.130 and v1.31 are described as AA, and A_A forms part of the file name on the v1.31 download.
Sony VGN-SR series bios update fail. now the computer is dead. battery light blinks. powers on, thats it. I know easiest way it to swap MB but warranty just over. damn viao updates!
Second time this has happened. I've downloaded the BIOS update from Acer's website.
Closed all programs, disabled the antivirus and went to flash it. Right after clicking start I get a Verify Error and the sytem freezes and is a dead unit. First time this happened they tried to tell me it was something like $150 to fix even though I did everything right. Now I went to do it again, same thing. Now Acer is telling me it will cost $450 to fix it. It's only 3 months old. They are also saying they are not responsible for anything downloaded from their web site.
So, couple questions. Has anyone successfully flashed their BIOS to 1.34? Does anyone know where you can buy motherboards cheap?
i jsut DL'd the CL50134_Winflash.zip from acers website to try and fix some issues i've found this can fix, i extracted it, shutdown all apps i could, hit start or run and up popped an error message.. system froze... sat there for about 30+ min (i was freakin the whole time) and nothing didn't move.. didn't budge... my screen saver popped on but before that it hadn't moved an inch... can't toggle capslock or numlock.. can't even get rid of the screen saver now.... i shut the system down (the bad way) and now nothing.. can't get it to turn on at all....
I have a HP dv6500 running Windows 7 for which I want to upgrade the pci-e mini wifi card to one of the intel cards available on Newegg, or perhaps a 4G card. However, I have read that the stock HP BIOS has a whitelist for wifi cards, and only select cards will work.

I have also heard that flashing a BIOS from Windows 7 will damage it, and the recommended solution is to reinstall Windows Vista. Is there some way around this? Could I perhaps use a PE CD?
I have an Vostro 1450, already at the latest available BIOS (A08). I have a problem which might be fixed by re-flashing the BIOS. However the BIOS upgrade utility (V1450A08.EXE) detects that I'm already at the latest version and sensibly refuses to "update". Is there a way I can force the upgrade utility to re-flash the BIOS?
After killing my old battery, my Latitude E6500 is refusing to detect the new battery I bought for it. It will run off the battery if I disconnect the AC, but will not charge, I have been using a co-worker's E6500 to recharge it.
I have been instructed to run the E6500 Bios flash, however since the computer does not detect the battery, it will not allow me to proceed with the flash. /forceit does not work. Are there any other command line variables I can use to make the bios upgrade perform without a battery check?
This one currently has A07, and I know it needs to flash A09 before bumping up to the current A13, but A09 stops right after launch (".....unexpectedly quit..."). Logged in with Admin rights, not seeing any reason for BIOS failure. Another download of the A09 was tried as well.
I have old version A05 on my E6410 Bios. I tried to upgrade to A06, then I´d like to upgrade to A07, A09, and then to A13, because i need to have the A09 installed before install A13.I`ve downloaded all the versions, but the problem is that the Dell BIOS Flash window does not start !!!
I attempted to update my bios for my Acer Aspire 5745 notebook and chose the wrong file. The computer is giving me a black screen now. When I push the start button the lights come on the fan blows and thats all. I found a few sits on line giving me the procedure to flash an aspire one system. Here is the steps I took to do so to no avail.
1. When to the acer site and put the SNID number to my laptop to pull up my suggested downloads for my system. 2. I downloaded the file to my working computer. 3. I extracted the file and opened the file that said DOS. 4. I renamed the file zg5ia32.fd 5. checked my flash drive to make sure it is set to ( FAT ). 6. Transferred the file to the flash drive. 7. Pluged in the flash drive to my dead laptop while it was pluged into a powersorce. 8. Held down the FN and ESC buttons while pushing the power buttons. 9. Released the FN and ESC buttons when I noticed the power light blinking and the flash drive light up. 10. Waited for over 15 min. but had no success.
I also opened up the backside to the laptop and removed the little battery that was plugged it with a small white connector assuming it was the cmos battery but still nothing happened.
I'm looking for a Lenovo B575 bios update/flash utility since my BIOS has gone bad. I cannot change/save changes and cannot restore to defaults.
I cannot find bios updtae on lenovo site (not on drivers for B575 and not under the drivers matrix). I've even tried via "Phoenix" as it's their Bios, no good. And even via a third side component (biosagent plus) that should have Phoenix bios, still no good.
