Dec 19, 2014System - HP Envy14-1200 Beats Edition Notebook PC Series - Product # XQ103AV. It came pre-installed Windows 7.
Error message "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. See the setup log file" appears during fresh installation of Windows 8.0.
MS Windows 8 installation DVD detects the hard drive OK.
Mini Tool Partition software (3rd party) detects the hard drive OK.
Both Windows 8 DVD and MiniTool software detects the disk partition and its formated OK, but the error message appears to prevent it from installation.
These are steps that I tried to resolve the problem, but it won't work.
1. Used Microsoft Windows 8 DVD diskpart to clean HD, partition and format........still get the same error message.
2. Used Microsoft Windows 8 DVD diskpart to clean HD and partition....................still get the same error message.
3. Used MiniTool Partition software to clean HD, partition and format........still get the same error message.
4. Used MiniTool Partition software to clean HD and partition....................still get the same error message.
5. Purchased a new hard drive repeat step 1 - 4 and I got the ......same error message.
Background
I upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows 7 and it worked for a 2 month, then I upgraded to Windows 8.1. After the system is upgraded and rebooted, the screen turn black. So I decided to re-install Windows 8.0. There is no SIM/SD card in the laptop.

Oct 20, 2014I have an Aspire V3-772G. I can't create a recovery drive anymore. I ran reagentc.exe in command-prompt and it's pointing to the correct recovery location, but Windows RE is disabled and for some reason I can't reenable it.

Jan 14, 2015I have an acer M3 581T which I bought about a year ago. Now, windows crashed and said there was a file missing. I am no longer able to boot up the system, I've tried the erecovery (alt f10) but it just proceeds and says it's not able to boot. I have no recovery cd/usb at hand. It is of my understanding that this ultrabook has two harddrives. One SSD on which the operating system is installed and one HDD with the other files on.What do I do to make it work again? I do not care if all my files are lost.

Method's I've tried: F11 during startup gives me the option to recover Windows 7 from a USB stick. Which is weird because the original OS was Windows 8Rescue and Recovery and OneKey both give me the option to back-up but not to restore from the hidden partition.
Info: Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E135 335972G..Disk Managment shows one HDD divided into: 2x recovery partition, 1x EFI system partition and normal parition.

However, in the "Create a recovery media" wizard, I don't have the option of selecting DVDs if tick the option "Copy the recovery partition to the media". I have a bunch of DVDs lying around and I would like to use them. Not to mention that I don't intend to buy USB drive just for this purpose.

Nov 5, 2014We have a brand new Aspire E15 and are wanting to create a recovery backup on to a usb drive.
As per the user manual we type recovery in the search and select 'Acer Recovery Management'.
We then get the User Acount Control window asking if we want to allow Acer Recovery Management to make changes to the computer, then click 'Yes'.
Then nothing happens......

Apr 16, 2014Since updating to Windows 8.1 I have had little other than problems. It added a few useful features, but other than that made things worse in general.
At first the problem was barely noticable at all. I would rightclick on a media file and sometimes it would maybe take a second longer than usual to bring up the context menu. Over the last two weeks it got longer and longer. At first it was mainly only when rightclicking on a media file. I noticed a big change when I tried to rename songs and movies last weekend. WHen it took about 5 seconds to bring up the menu.
Since yesterday that went up to 8 seconds and I also started seeing it when right clicking on any folders, apps, or games. Anything really. Another strange thing, every now and then after I right click, it would wait 8 seconds, the screen would go blank almost like it refreshes, and nothing would happen. Sometimes it would even move icons back to their "default" places before I moved them. Which is another annoyance. This has NEVER happened before I updated to 8.1.

Nov 24, 2014I bought this new acer E5-771-378y , windows 8.1 and I want to get it all set up for him before Chrismas. Why can I not use a dvd disk for the recovery restore disk? It keeps telling me to insert a 16 gb usb. I don't have a free USB to use and I would prefer to put it on disks like I have done for every other computer I have owned.

Mar 27, 2009I've got a 320gb Seagate Freeagent Go external hard drive which I need to transfer data from onto my Acer 6920.
All starts well with transfer speeds of around 30mb/s, the speeds then drop to around 10mb/s and more often than not the whole transfer freezes and just hangs no matter what size file I'm transfering. I've got over 200gb I need transfered but it just won't do it, even in small chunks of data.
Am going to try it on XP in work but could it be a Vista problem and would updating my Intel Matrix Storage driver help?

Jan 17, 2009I have an acer aspire 5630 laptop wich have been wrongly flashed. I'm trying now to replace the bios chip (29lv008) with a new one wich i have to program on an external programmer. My problem is that the only falsh file available at acer site is an executable one (flash 32.exe). Is there a way to extract the flash file to be programmed from this .exe. Or have someone the dump file of such a laptop.

Aug 31, 2009I have an Acer 8930 with the Intel WiFi Link 5100. I updated the driver to version 12.4.3.9. When I transfer a file to my moviebox (connected to a Netgear Rangemax Router via cable) I only get up to 1.2 MB/s as speed. When I transfer via my IMac I can get up to 4.5MB/s.
Looking into the advanced properties settings of the Intel WiFi Link I noticed under Wireless mode the following options:
1. 802.11a
2. 802.11b
3. 802.11g
4. 802.11b/g
5. 802.11a/g
6. 802.11a/b/g
Option 6 is selected, but should there not be an N option?

Apr 22, 2009I found something once on one of my recovery CD'S. It is an ISO file called STCDBOOT. I burned the ISO image and it made some wierd boot disk. Has anone else tried this? I was wondering if this could rebuild the PQSERVICE? This ISO is on the first disk called System.

Apr 23, 2010my 4810tz keeps freezing, i've tried all the fixes on this forum, apart from re-installing windows 7 (I cant see how this can help).
what I need to know is how I can get the minidump file when my laptop locks up?
i've looked at the event log and all it says is event 41 kernal power, i need to find out what application/driver is causing the crashes!
I can't believe this can't be fixed, this is really bad on acers part.
a note to make though, this freezing happened on my gf's laptop, and she was running a core duo, so maybe its the proccessor?
