I just bought a G505. The Control Panel option for creating a recovery drive ony seems to offer USB flash drive as an option.
Is there a way I can create a recovery CD-ROM?
One Key Recovery (Windows 8) doesnt give an option to create a recovery disk.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI updated/upgraded my G505 to Windows 8.1 this morning and now it appears that Bluetooth isn't working. I've downloaded the driver listed for the Atheros/Broadcom device, but when the install runs it says it can't find anything to install. Manually running both driver installs doesn't get me anywhere.
Is this a known issue with Win 8.1? I tried the Win 8 driver, same thing.

I am currently unable to create a Factory Default Recovery Disc. There is an error with the Onekey Recovery software in burning onto the DVD / Disc. I have tried two different DVDs (4.7GB), and have tried a CD (740MB). And I receive the same error about one fifth of the way through.
The reason I am having to do a factory reset, is because my Wirless Network driver is not working, and the laptop no longer accepts external wireless USB dongles. I can't get internet even with a wired connection. It isn't to do with whether the wireless is switched on or not. I've tried this.
What is Lenovos policy about providing customers with the means to restore their Laptops? In the past computer manufacturers / suppliers provided all the software and bootdiscs.
I recently got an E135 that came with Windows 8 preloaded. I really didnt like the new interface so I installed Windows 7 on it. Unfortunatly I forgot to create a recovery stick using this method. Now I'd like to reset it back to Windows 8 but I have no means of forcing the computer to acces the recovery partition.
Method's I've tried: F11 during startup gives me the option to recover Windows 7 from a USB stick. Which is weird because the original OS was Windows 8Rescue and Recovery and OneKey both give me the option to back-up but not to restore from the hidden partition.
Info: Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E135 335972G..Disk Managment shows one HDD divided into: 2x recovery partition, 1x EFI system partition and normal parition.
I recently bought a T530 with Windows 8 pre-installed. I want to create recovery disc(s). However, in the "Create a recovery media" wizard, I don't have the option of selecting DVDs if tick the option "Copy the recovery partition to the media". View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop G505 59379534 has become horribly slow. In fact it is so right from beginning when I purchased six months back. Around 50 GB of data consisting of audio, video files are stored in it. It takes atleast 2 to 3 minutes to open even a small file of 5 Mb size. Also I have installed all latest drivers from AMD site. Also I am using Kapersky internet security 2014 and it is up to date. No virus or spyware is detected when I run full scan. Can I improve it's speed and if so how.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought my G505s in August 2013 and I'm only noticing now that it's been running pretty hot.I've been using several different programs to try to see and compare the temperatures of the quad core CPUs. I've also looked in many different fourm communities and have found this is not at all like the common overheating problems with the G505s. Others have experienced other heating problems when they play games, as their cores go to around 70C to 80C
"How so," you ask?Details and actions I've taken:
1. My temperatures soar to above 80C each when idle, and over 100 when doing light work.
2. BIOS and drivers have all been updated to the latest versions available for Windows 8.1 as per the Lenovo website.
3. I have never played games on the laptop, so I know the overheating is not because something related to that.
4. I cleaned my computer yesterday, although there was hardly any dust build up.
My temperature readings come from speccy, and hwmonitor.
I am getting frequently the message ' Catalyst control center has stopped working' on my laptop. My laptop is G505(59379534) with win 8.1 64 bit os. I learnt that updating to latest catalyst drivers from AMD site may solve this problem. But how can I locate specific driver suited to my laptop in AMD site for downloading. Also today morning the message ' Display driver stopped and it was recovered successfully' was flashed in laptop. So I think latest display driver is also needed. Whether I have to install any updates for solving above problems if so how to identify required drivers for downloading.

So my dad had to reinstall windows 8 for me using a cd he had that didn't come with the computer I don't believe. So now for some reason my screen brightness isn't adjusting and it's driving me crazy! It's staying on full brightness which I hate! I tried changing it from the personalization screen and nothing happens.

I have a brand new T440 which I am populating and customising.I created a new partition on the HDD using MiniTool Partition Wizzard. That may have created the problem - I can't create the recovery media. I get a message that the files are not there. I should have done it before partitioning - too late now.
However, using the Partition Wizzard, I can assign a drive letter to the Recovery partition, and it becomes visible in Windows Explorer (File manager). I can copy the content on an external HD drive.
I would like to restore my laptop to factory settings after butchering the factory install. I see the "LENOVO" volume as Drive D, and it appears to have the restore tools, but I cannot figure out how to get to One Key Recovery. I've tried rebooting while pressing F2 or F11 repeatedly; F2 gets me to BIOS, F11 doesn't seem to do anything.

For the past two days LSC is alerting that Hardware scan has detected one or more hardware failures. The tests in which my laptop G505 59379534 is failing are given as Targeted read and smart short self test. Also against local connection test warning is shown. My OS is windows 8.1. Only couple of days back I have installed HP2545 printer on my PC. I do not know wheher this has something to do with present status of laptop. Also I am using Kaspersky internet security 2014. I am worried whether this alert message points to any serious impending problem for my laptop. Laptop is almost 9 months old. It is still under warranty.

3 of those notebooks are HP Probook 450 G2's (PN: J4R69EA)
(These are the models with the 128GB SSD drives)
The other two are Lenovo E540’s with similar specs.
So first things first, create recovery media. So that is done before I hand them to the end users in question. While trying to create the windows disc, the "HP Recovery Disc Creator" program demands Dual layer DVD's: "Please insert a Dual-Layer DVD to proceed" The DVD's in question I’m using are "Sony DVD+R 120min/4.7GB" discs that in the past have always worked. (and at this moment are working for the Lenovo portables)

I have not tried a USB stick, but this is not what I want and since you can only create one set of backups…

This would not be that big of a problem if there was an actual windows 7 key printed on the portable. If I had a key, I would just reinstall the machine straight away with a clean windows 7 image so I dont have to clean out all the HP software. but unfortunatly this is not the case. so i need a Windows 7 Recovery disc to be created.
I've just replaced HDD by SSD and tried to make a recovery USB media by means of 8.1 recovery utility. The process takes suspiciously short time, but finishes normally reporting that media is created. The size of all files on the flash is about 200 MB. When I did the same media with HDD the size was 12GB. I tried to boot with that flash and it failed with a message about corrupted media or the like. I always believed that windows does not take into account the physical structure of the drive and cannot understand what's going on and what to do.

I have purchased a new hard disk and installed a fresh copy of windows 7 on it, downloaded all the drivers from the lenovo support website but I really would like to have done the one key recovery on the new copy of windows to set it back to the factory settings.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently got this laptop and wanted to upgrade to Windows 8.1 immediatly since it came with Windows 7. This was of course and option with the disc set that came with the laptop. Unfortunately i have encountered problems in the installation/recovery of Windows 8.1.
When the laptop is finished using the actual disc's (i say finished because it spits out disc 4 which is the last one) and is booting into the OS to do the last installing it "freezes" in the middle of "dowork.cmd". In the cmd window it tries to access a destination directory which it can't. Instead of writing it here, i'm just gonna link a picture of it:

I'm having a Lenovo V480 i5-3230M as you know it pre- install with Windows 7 Pro 64Bit & it has license for Windows 8 Pro 64Bit . I think I want to reinstall my computer but the problem now all the recovery set that Lenovo supplies to me is Windows 8 Pro not the Windows 7 Pro. So, if I'm using the One Key button, are they going to restore my computer to Windows 7 Pro or to Windows 8 Pro?

When finished I would check the discs ( DVD - R ) I would get a message saying the discs did not write correctly. Tried discs from three different packs, still the same. Called HP Support and they went through the procedure with me, still the same fail. I was told me not to worry if I ever had to have the discs because of a crash they would send them to me for free as they have a record. Now I will be using this computer mainly on the internet and think I should have the discs just in case. Called HP and was told no record, no free discs and it will cost a lot to make the discs. Is there any way to make discs or put the info on a hard drive? I do not know if the computer thinks I made a copy or not since the copies I thought I was making were defective.

the installation procedure hangs on the windows splash screen. I never saw a Windows 8 installation
procedure before, so I booted my laptop from the installation media to check if it is corrupted.
This works fine. A loading dot circle is displayed under the logo after a few seconds and than after quiet
a while the lenovo wizard is shown... so it has to be an issue with the virtual box.
