Lenovo P/Y/Z Series :: Y560 IdeaPad - One Key Recovery Reinstallation For Windows 7 64 Bit
Oct 10, 2012
I have a Y560 ideapad and the hard disk recently crashed, I did not have enough time to take a backup of my windows copy. I have purchased a new hard disk and installed a fresh copy of windows 7 on it, downloaded all the drivers from the lenovo support website but I really would like to have done the one key recovery on the new copy of windows to set it back to the factory settings.

I have a Ideapad Y560 laptop, I had some issue with the battery yesterday. It worked fine until I shutdown the laptop last night. The laptop just powered off when I unplugged the AC, with battery installed. And of course I cannot boot the laptop without AC now. I installed power manager, and it says no battery installed. The battery worked fine until yesterday. When I plugged AC in, the meter shows it is charging, but the power volume is not going up. Is it a battery failure?

I got an ideapad y560 0646 with i7 and radeon 5730 without switchable graphics. After starting, the windows logo appears and afterwards just a black screen. No windows logon. Starting with standard vga drivers is possible. I am currently running windows 7 prof 64 bit. I remember that i installed windows 7 prof 32 bit in november 2011 and after installing the graphic drivers from lenovo homepage i faced the same issue.
So I continued using windows 7 64 bit. i think there was a windows update which caused the issues for windows 7 64 bit. I installed the latest drivers but this didnt work. i think this is no hardware issue because ubuntu is running fine. i would like to try the old drivers which came with the y560 on cd. unfortunately i cant find the cd.
Does some have the old driver cd and could upload the drivers or name the file of the driver so i can download it from the web?

My Lenovo G580AH suddenly became unstartable. It tried to repair the system on startup but didn't finish this after one day.
Then I decided to recover my system using Recovery button. The procedure hangs on 16% with status that 1 sec remaining. I've tried this several times.Current file is different in each case but it is with "thl" extension. Path looks like "C:Program Files (x86)...*.thl" .

I own a lenovo ideapad Z570, and want to upgrade to a larger HDD(from 600GB to 1TB). The only thing bothering me is the "OneKey Recovery".
So, my question is : How do I make the OEM and Recovery partitions, just after installing windows7 on a new(blank) HDD to facilitate the "OneKey Recovery".

I've bought the Lenovo Y560 laptop ~1.5 years ago and I've been very satisfied with its performace overall, but I've recently noticed, it overheats and shuts down when playing newer games (doesnt appear in games like WoW or LoL or similar low end system req games). And we all know why we bought such a high performance machine (and it isnt to use Facebook).
I've installed Hardware Monitor and my idle temperatures on my i7 are ~60 degrees and my GPU is ~55 degrees. Seems pretty ok I guess. Under heavy load, they exceed 97 degrees and thats when the system shuts down, beacuse of thermal protection.
I've tried testing with bios 71 and bios 59, but the problems persist and I didnt really notice much of a difference, but I have read that under some bios the fan doesnt go over a certain %, but never reaches 100% speed. I've also updated GPU drivers and energy management thingy.
Now, I have come to two solutions - I am going to clean the pc today, apply new thermal paste and blow out the dust and stuff. The other is, but I dont really want to do it, is to cut the blue wire that is the fan control one, but then the fan would be at 100% constantly, which is just not needed (noise and stuff).
Those underload temperatures are measured with my cooling station active (homemade from 2 old GPU fans).

I have an unusual situation on my y560 laptop. the cpu is about 30% without doing anything. the laptop is equipped with an i5 430m an 4 giga ram. I scanned for viruses and nothing. I installed linux and everything seemed ok. But when I installed windows again, even before installing drivers the cpu was 30% without doing anything!!! the same thing happens after installing drivers. a friend of mine with a with a similar i3 laptop an the same windows (win 7 pro msdn) has only 10% on idle.

My wireless worked fine last night. Got up this morning, turned the computer on, and the wireless does not work. Here's what I've done so far:
* Using fn+F5 I've ensured the wireless is turned on.
* When I try to connect wirelessly I get "error 651 modem not working." But the wireless works with the other twocomputers in my house, and when I hook up directly to the modem/router (Motorola 3347 from Qwest) with anEthernet cable, the Y560 works fine. So I do not think the modem is the problem.
* Tried to "auto detect" driver update using the Lenovo support, but that was useless. It did not autodetect anything.
* From the Lenovo site, it looks like the wireless drivers for the Y560 are all from March, and I got the computer in lateMay, so I should have the latest drivers installed anyway.

I have a really annoying problem with sound quality. When i install the realtek hd audio driver, the sound starts to be noisy. I hear it when no sound is on output, or moving my mouse, HDD activity, etc. I used the sound card with win7 driver (no realtek), and it was really good, but the mic was just awful. 2 years ago i found an old version of realtek driver, which was good, but i dont remember the version number.

About a year ago I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 with Windows 8 preinstalled. My question is this:
I want to upgrade my hardware by replacing my current hard disk with an Solid State Disk. The problem is that in windows 8 there is not any program except the OneKey Recovery which obviously it isn't a Microsoft's official recovery application (such as the one in Windows 7). If I create a disk with OneKey then is there any way to use it to install windows 8 on the new SSD disk? How the pc is gonna recognize a backup disk created by an application which is not installed on it?

I have bought a Lenovo Z50 70 laptop with free DOS. I have sucessfully installed Windows 8.1 in it. I want to install Fedora 20 alongside with windows 8.1. But I have failed to do this after trying so many times.
I have noticed the following things in my laptop
1. In windows 8.1 recovery option on menu is displaying for UEFI firmware setting. ( I have installed windows 8.1 in legacy support mode in BIOS)
2. In BIOS setup (tapping F2 at the time of booting) no "Secure Boot Option" is displaying.

I've bought a Lenovo IdeaPad Z50-75 ( with Free DOS ):
Bios Version: A4CN24WW (V 1.03)
I am trying to install Windows 8 but it just doesnt work. not matter if i allow secure boot or disable it. no matter if i choose from the "OS Optimized Defaults : [Win8 64bit]"
I changed the boot priority so that the DVD-Reader is on the highest place (1). Got a working Win8 DVD, also got win7 professional, but i'd rather install Windows 8.
Even though Win7 is okay too if it'll work then.
I don't know what to do other than switching around between all those options. and it doesn't work at all.
Whenever i start the laptop and choose to start with the DVD-Reader it lights up and nothing happens.

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 which had both Intel and AMD drivers installed correctly, switchable graphics was also functioning properly.
The problem started when I tried to update the 2010 AMD driver with the latest one (2011) on the officail Lenovo site. The install seemed to run through, but informed me that there were warnings during the installation. I opened the linked log file, but it did not include any errors or warnings, only that the installation ran through successfully.
As the driver version still showed that it was the 2010 driver which is installed, I uninstalled the driver, and tried to install the 2011 driver again after a reboot. It once again said that the installation was successfull, but with warnings (still no warning in the log file). When I tried to check the driver version, it turned out that the AMD graphics card is not visible in the device manager, not even as an unrecognised device.
I then tried to install the old 2010 driver (the original driver installation files were already on my D: drive upon delivery), but got the same results as with the 2011 driver.
Removing any AMD/ATi related programs did not work either, I still get a "finished" installation with warnings, and a log file without warnings or errors.
OS is Windows 7 (64bit)
GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 (+Intel HD...)
Switchable graphics is turned on in BIOS.
how I could get the system to recognise the attached ATi graphics card, or at least realize that it is there?

I have an IdeaPad V570 that experienced a total hard drive failure (be careful how hard to close the laptop in frustration) I had Best Buy try to recover data and opted not to pay for the recovery after the only crucial data did not seem to have been recovered. Best Buy told me the rest of the system seems to be intact so they could install a new Hard Drive if I wanted it back. They made me offers to completely restore the system at a price but I decided to save money thinking I should be able to restore the system myself. So they installed the hard drive and that was it.
I decided to go with Windows 8 after learning that support was beginning to wain for Windows 7. I purchased the OS from Best Buy and I am attempting to install it. So far that is not going well. The BIOS sees the CDDVDW drive and the HDD, both are listed in the BOOT menu with the right names. However the computer is not booting from the WIndows disk. I get a message ending with :
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM
At which point it take me to the Boot Menu. I can see the order I have set for Booting is:
1. ATAPI CD: TZSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633F
2. ATA HDD: WDC WD10JPVX-22JC3T0
3. PCI LAN: Realtek PXE B03 D00
It seems to me that the system is trying to boot in that order but the CDDVD drive is not responding, the HDD has nothing on it so it goes for the PCI LAN and there is nothing for it to do so it returns the error an sends me back to the Boot Menu.

I bought this laptop for my son to use and like many, he didn't care for Windows 8. So, I downloaded the drivers for the laptop and then did a clean install of Windows 7 Professional. I have been unable to find a driver that will work for the Network Controller. The drivers you can download on the Lenovo site do not work. This computer is useless to him unless we can get the wireless working.

I just opened my Ideapad u430, and immediately noticed that the windows OS was installed on the 500gb sata drive instead of the SSD. I'm pretty sure the whole point of the SSD portion was to install the OS on it to speed performance. Any tips on how to transfer the OS onto the other side of the partition without having the original discs?

I recently bought the Y510p laptop and upgraded windows to 8.1
Since the upgrade i'm getting contant freezing, which could last 10seconds or 10minutes.
Any time i restart the computer it will hang, and the only way to kill is it to press on Power button.
Checked the eventviewer and i found the following warning appearing every minute:
Log Name: System
Source: iaStorA
Date: 20/02/2014 17:36:40
Event ID: 129
Task Category: None
Level: Warning
[Code] ....
After long research i came to conclusion that the ExpressCache is causing this.
The moment I uninstalled it, issues disappeared. System will restart without any issues, it won't freeze either.
Checked the following article: [URL] ....
Tried to re-install ExpressCache but the issue started to presist straight away, constant freezing and the above message in event viewer.

Yesterday, I updated to win 8.1. The process appeared to go smoothly, but I now have a number of issues:
1 If I close the lid and reopen, the sytem does not wake up. It does not wake up if I press the power button. All I can do is a hard shutdown and reboot. This occasionally gives an error message on restart, but has not produced any solutions.
2 There is a message about secure boot not being configured
3 The support app has a cross on it and won't work
No doubt there are other problems, but number 1 is the killer....

I have been struggling with installing w8 on my Ideapad z510 laptop in UEFI mode, but neither I could succeed it nor I could I find something that might work. I will clearly explain the case.
Point 1:
As I understood, to succeed w8 install in UEFI format, one needs to choose "UEFI First" mode from Boot Menu in BIOS. Then, the source of the boot needs to be specified to identify the rigid path to the documents to load so that new OS could be installed correctly.
Problem1:
It is possible to chose UEFI First from boot mode, but it's not possible to choose the USB path for UEFI booting in this case, which doesn't allow you to succeed a UEFI boot to your computer. You can't reach the DVD or USB, where the installation files are, and start installation process.
Point2:
Considering the first case, you need to choose Legacy Support mode to boot your computer and reach USB disk or DVD to install new OS on the computer.
Problem2:
To succeed UEFI mode booting to the computer, you need to see 4 different partitions on your disk at point of disk selection, where you choose the disk you'll install your OS. However, when you select the Legacy Support mode from BIOS, the disk partition is limited to 2 in my case, which are:
Primary diskSystem reserved (350 MB)Hence, when I continue with the installation, the OS is installed on Legacy mode. After installation, when I go to BIOS to choose UEFI mode for boot mode, the laptop checks some connections from network and says
EFI network 0 for IPv4 failedEFI network 0 for IPv6 failed respectively.
PS: Please don't tell that "you can't install, because your computer doesn't support", because I received the computer from technical service and a version of W8 was installed on it in UEFI mode. However I deleted it to install W8 pro.
