View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Lenovo yoga 2 pro with a clean installed Windows 8.1 Pro. My Lenovo Energy Management doesn't function properly.
When I open the Energy Manager and click the menu button (the one with 3 dots and 3 stripes) the energy manager freezes and I can't do anything with it. It doesn't let me click any buttons or even close it with the little x. I can only close it from the little task bar icon.
There is another weird thing, but I don't know wheter it's related: Every time I open the energy manager I get a windows security message from Outlook where I have to fill out my username and password. This only happens if outlook isn't running... This security message dissappears within a few seconds without doing anything, and then for a second another outlook message is displayed that says something about accessing a server... I don't know wheter this is related to whether the energy manager doesn't work, but it seems kind of strange to me...
I tried reinstalling the Energy Manager (v. 1.0.1.49) and tried installing a newer one (v. 1.0.1.51) found here: [URL] ... But I keep having the same problem with the security message and the energy manager freezing.
My laptop G505 59379534 has become horribly slow. In fact it is so right from beginning when I purchased six months back. Around 50 GB of data consisting of audio, video files are stored in it. It takes atleast 2 to 3 minutes to open even a small file of 5 Mb size. Also I have installed all latest drivers from AMD site. Also I am using Kapersky internet security 2014 and it is up to date. No virus or spyware is detected when I run full scan. Can I improve it's speed and if so how.

I bought my G505s in August 2013 and I'm only noticing now that it's been running pretty hot.I've been using several different programs to try to see and compare the temperatures of the quad core CPUs. I've also looked in many different fourm communities and have found this is not at all like the common overheating problems with the G505s. Others have experienced other heating problems when they play games, as their cores go to around 70C to 80C
"How so," you ask?Details and actions I've taken:
1. My temperatures soar to above 80C each when idle, and over 100 when doing light work.
2. BIOS and drivers have all been updated to the latest versions available for Windows 8.1 as per the Lenovo website.
3. I have never played games on the laptop, so I know the overheating is not because something related to that.
4. I cleaned my computer yesterday, although there was hardly any dust build up.
My temperature readings come from speccy, and hwmonitor.
I am getting frequently the message ' Catalyst control center has stopped working' on my laptop. My laptop is G505(59379534) with win 8.1 64 bit os. I learnt that updating to latest catalyst drivers from AMD site may solve this problem. But how can I locate specific driver suited to my laptop in AMD site for downloading. Also today morning the message ' Display driver stopped and it was recovered successfully' was flashed in laptop. So I think latest display driver is also needed. Whether I have to install any updates for solving above problems if so how to identify required drivers for downloading.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy lenovo G505 recently had to be reformated because there was a blue screen that came up one day that said there was problem with my PC and the error was critical_service_error, something like that. So my dad had to reinstall windows 8 for me using a cd he had that didn't come with the computer I don't believe. So now for some reason my screen brightness isn't adjusting and it's driving me crazy! It's staying on full brightness which I hate! I tried changing it from the personalization screen and nothing happens.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI updated/upgraded my G505 to Windows 8.1 this morning and now it appears that Bluetooth isn't working. I've downloaded the driver listed for the Atheros/Broadcom device, but when the install runs it says it can't find anything to install. Manually running both driver installs doesn't get me anywhere.
Is this a known issue with Win 8.1? I tried the Win 8 driver, same thing.
My Lenovo touchpad is unresponsive after an update by avast that requires a reboot. I have no way to log in at this point. Is there a way around this? How do I fix it?

The tests in which my laptop G505 59379534 is failing are given as Targeted read and smart short self test. Also against local connection test warning is shown. My OS is windows 8.1. Only couple of days back I have installed HP2545 printer on my PC. I do not know wheher this has something to do with present status of laptop. Also I am using Kaspersky internet security 2014. I am worried whether this alert message points to any serious impending problem for my laptop. Laptop is almost 9 months old. It is still under warranty.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a W530, with i7 and 16G standard setup. I want to enable HV-X and found they are marked as Disabled, and gray-out in BIOS, also date is gray-out also.
i7 must support virtualizaion, while time setting is gray-out, I think this is either a security issue or a BIOS bug, but I had same problem with 2013 Feb BIOS, and also update to 2014 latest BIOS, same problem here.
I bought this Z710 new but I get a message saying "The battery is unauthorized". Also the battery indicator stays at "0% available (plugged in, not charging)." If I unplug the power cord, the laptop powers off cold. It has always been this way. This is a problem for me because I want to upgrade my BIOS but I can't because I get an error stating "Battry is too low (0 < 30 ). Please charge your battery to 30%." when I try.
How do I get this laptop to start interacting with its battery? I have already tried taking it out and putting it in again and rebooting.
I'm using a seconday (spare) power adapter at home, for my y50. The adapter is a 20 volt / 90 watt unit. My primary adapter (in work) is the original adapter that came with the Y50, a 20 volt / 120 watt unit. When using the laptop with the spare adapter (the 90 watt unit) I get a Lenovo Energy Manager message that pops up stating "Adapter has limited support" and "Performance will be affected if the power adapter cannot provide enough charge". Presumably the laptop would need more than 90 watts to drive it if the CPU and /or video were working hard? Do you see any issues using that adapter for day to day work, that is, not gaming? Also, can the messge be disabled?

i have my virtual memory setting set to No page file for both of the things that i could change the setting to (there were only two different things in the virtual memory options which where Windows 8 and (lenovo)).
what should i set windows 8 and Lenovos virutal memory usage to? i thought i was suppost to select no page file but that has not worked.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having a message that says "Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached" message that appears after Windows 8.1 starts up. A similar sort of message appears before even Windows boots up, and I need to press the 'Esc' key in order for Windows to boot. This seems to have happened after a recent Windows update. I have uninstalled an reinstalled the Lenovo Power Management Driver but it does not appear to have fixed the issue. My BIOS is the latest version.
This issue is on my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1.
I have 12 updates showing as needing to be installed in my windows update to go onto my new lenovo G500 but every time I try and install them I get the error message 80242006. I have googled it and tried the suggestions with no luck although I have yet to spot one that is for windows 8.1 which I have upgraded this laptop to.
The missing updates are KB's 2987107 ,2968296, 2972103, 2979573, 2978041, 2979576, 2977292, 3000061, 3000869, 2989542, 2998174 and 3000988.
Could the problem be because I have upgraded the laptop to windows 8.1 from 8?
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad W540 running Windows 8 (64 bit) connected to a ThinkPad Pro docking station and hooked up to a 24" widescreen monitor.
All was working perfectly for the past couple of days (since I got it) until today when the monitor will go blank, display a 'no signal' message, the laptop screen will flicker then after approx 15 seconds all is back to normal excepting the following message is displayed:-
I've tried clicking Yes and No with no permanent lasting improvement!!
So my power cord or battery is garfunkled and it doesn't hold a charge. I use my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1501) with the cable plugged in all the time. I'm perfectly happy with this and there is absolutely no way I'm paying any more for any charging equipment (battery or otherwise) when I can get a faster laptop for cheaper than the cost of the charging equipment. So I'm not going to spend any more money and I'm perfectly happy with how the laptop works.
I don't need a solution but when the laptop boots it stops at this error message (in the BIOS or DOS or w/e before the OS loads) until it gets some user input okaying it to continue booting.
I want to disable the message to allow the computer to boot into the OS when it is turned on. I either want the message to time out or not to appear at all. I looked in the BIOS (which is the simplest BIOS I've ever seen and has practically no options outside of boot protocol) and didn't see any options related to error messages or to act in any way.
I put tried to put the password in but got that message plus the number 85628188

View 3 Replies View RelatedAll, I am having a major problem with VMWare and the W530 "Num Lock". When I move the cursor into the VMWare window a message comes on say "NUM LOCK: ON" when I move it out of the VMWare window I see message "NUM LOCK: OFF". I do not have any key on the keyboard to disable Num Lock. There are utilities I can run in the SUSE VMWare image to capture the key binding and remap, but I do not have anyway of turning Num Lock on or off to capture the key binding.
