I recently got the Z500, working under Windows 8.I got a question regarding the battery charge. I work on the laptop for extended periods of time with the power plugged in. Since this is bad for the battery, is there any way to disable the charging or to perhaps remove the battery?I wasn't able to find anything similar for this model.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought Z500 last week and I am facing problem with the battery life. I charged the laptop for 12 hr for the first time. The battery discharges within 2 hr every time. I just browse internet or watch movies and the battery life is far below the expectation.
There are two power plans - Balanced and Power saver and I do not see any difference in either. What is wrong with my laptop battery.
i tried to update the firmware but it tells me "No battery attached requires firmware update"
i tried uninstall and install energy management also didn't work
I own an Ideapad Z-500 notebook with Win 8.1 pro.
My battery is at locked at 59% of charge and even if i connect the power plug it doesn't charge any more.

It worked for then, but now I have the same problem once again and firmware update doesnt work anymore because my firmware is already up to date.
I received my y510p yesterday and the battery was at 32%. After charging it overnight, it's now at 34%.
I've been reading some threads on the matter, for example: [URL]... and whether my situation was similar, or different in the fact that
A) the other posts indicated a working battery for at least a couple of months, and
B) their systems are a bit older and it's possible Lenovo fixed the issue?
I understand there's a power management center in all Lenovo laptops and I can look at that...but even if the settings are to maximize battery life wouldn't this still allow for a charge above 33%?
My Lenovo G570 battery is stuck at 90%. It says plugged in, not charging. It just happened over night. Next day battery refuse to work.
In windows it says battery 90% and is not charging but battery has no charge at all. When I disconnet the A/C power laptop just shutdown immediately. As soon as I unplug the power laptop just shutdown as there is no charge in the battery.
I did reinstalled the Power management and also updated it. I all unplugged reboot in OS, restart, put battery back and boot into the OS back. Nothing seems to work.
I just installed Lenovo Energy Management in windows 8 before I was trying in windows 7. In the battery tab there are two options
Maximum battery Life Optimized battery Health. It is selected to "Optimized battery Health" and won't change regardless of power plan. I click on "Maximum battery Life" and when I open the app again it reset it to "Optimized battery Health".
Lenovo Solution Center say that battery life is GOOD. "Your battery is in good condition".
I bought a new Lenovo Z580 this past June. Shortly after I began using it, a system message popped up explaining to me that since I often have my laptop plugged in, it would conserve battery life if I let the system change my settings so that the battery didn't fully charge -- this would save battery life over the longterm and I would be free to change the setting whenever I wanted to. Well, this has been the biggest mistake ever. I now essentially have a desktop because I cannot find any setting that allows me to change the battery to fully charge (it only charges to 40 or 50%). There isn't any mention of this feature in the user guide materials that I can find and none of the Power Options allow me to change the battery charge capacity.

The power manager said the battery voltage, performance, cycles, LGC battery. If I unplugged the laptop, it is works so the laptop can use the battery just not charge. If it was not a genuine battery I can't see these description or I should also?

Which EXACTLY system event(s) or situation(s) (the most comprehensive list) triggers the charger back to charge the battery, because "next Windows boot" is too unclear. For example, what about hibernate mode? Precisely, returning from it is not the Windows boot! In which moment of boot that trigger changes? Which system event(s) (application and/or hardware) generates initial command for it, what chain of devices and software calls involved (and can or can't be involved in different situations), how much time approximately consumes each chain link, and mention all affecting hardware settings and Windows settings.
Can i disable battery charging on thinkpad x201, so i don't need to pull out my battery every time? Because although my battery stop charging when it is fully charged i don't want to use battery as power sourse after that.

I was on vacation and did not use my laptop for a week or so. When I plugged it into my docking station this morning, I noticed that the battery was reading 0% charged and was not charging.
Lenovo Power Management showed that the battery is in good shape
Lenovo Power Management showed that there was "no activity" - not charging
Lenovo Power Management showed no battery #1 - battery # 2 installed but not charging.
Troublshooting so far
Tried charging with external power supply outside of docking station - No Change
Removed battery, powered unit up and removed all Battery items in Device Manager
Reinstalled battery and powered unitup - No change
Removed and reinstalled the Lenovo Power Management and Driver / rebooted - No change
Current state: No Power Management software on the laptop - just using the Microsoft stuff (Still not charging). What else I should be trying / checking?
It's been about 5 months since I started to use my Thinkpad X230. Only three days ago it could work for 5-6 hours without charging. I could charge it at home, bring it to school and use it without charging. But suddenly the battery started to die in a short amount of time. Then I explored the battery settings a little bit. I found out it says "Battery Condition: poor" and "Your battery can 47% of its original full charge capacity."
It has warranty until 2015. So can Lenovo send me a new battery if I want so? Or is it a problem that warranty doesn't cover?
All was fine until I pressed F12. Now even on maximum brightness it's really dim.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have z500. I start playing some medium grapic games. After a 1 hour gameplay my graphics start to glitch so i checked my cpu and gpu temp. I saw that CPU temp has reached 99 Celcius but still the fans were dead.
Few minutes later, after what ever reason, fans start to spin and now its cooled downed to 60 C. and keeps spinning in low speed still.
Since i can see the temp, i assume there is no problem in thermometer so i assume its kind of a software deficiency. I am not using any overcload or cooling app, my power settings are set to high performance.
when i press one key recovery an app opens wich have two option one of them back up and the othere is recovery when i press backup i see an error saying current system cannot support backup and when i press recovery shows me a notice to reboot in order to start recovery but when i press yes i see an error saying the program cannot find the service partition i am using win8 64
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought the Lenovo Ideapad Z500 and I'm trying to boot from a USB drive in order to install Windows on it. When I start the boot menu I only see the hard-drive, the DVD and the network. I tried to set both UEFI mode and Legacy mode in BIOS but the USB stick does not appear in the menu when I boot. I put the image of windows with Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool which formats the stick in NTFS mode.
I have the latest BIOS v1.21 and I tried with 2 different USB sticks: one 16GB USB 2.0 Corsair and with a 32GB USB 3.0 ADATA both on USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports on the notebook. I really haven't seen anything like this in my entire career.
I even downloaded the file efiootBOOTX64.efi and replaced the one that Windows come with on the specified folder on the USB stick ....
Why is so difficult to choose the USB boot drive on the newer notebooks? How can I boot from USB?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new z500 that I've downgraded to Windows 7 64bit. For the most part I have everything working. I accidentally hit the brightness + (yes, +) and it instantly dimmed the screen to where it is barely viewable. It seems that hitting that one key decreased the brightness to the minimum amount. I've rebooted, looked for a setting in the BIOS, hit the Brightness +/- and can't increase the brightness. It is interesting because the other hot keys work correctly. I've even upped the brightness in the Control Panel, but nothing seems to work. The screen is extremely dim whenever the machine is powered on (including the BIOS), not just in Windows. I tried a lot of intel chipset drivers, the available Intel HD 4000 drivers in Win8 and win7 too, but nothing working. How to up the brightness?

Ever since I got the laptop over a year ago, the audio was never working properly for me. Every time a sound was played there would be a staticky sound played with the audio.

Is there a way to reverse the way F1, F2.. F12 keys work, so they work like on any other regular keyboard.
I use the basic functionality of the F-keys all the time, when renaming files, searching and so on, and I would like to be able to use them without having to press "fn" every time.
How do I switch between internal and external microphone? I have Z500 with one connector for headphones and microphone; when I connect an external microphone there, it's ignored and recording is done automatically from the internal microphone.
