Can i disable battery charging on thinkpad x201, so i don't need to pull out my battery every time? Because although my battery stop charging when it is fully charged i don't want to use battery as power sourse after that.
View 6 RepliesI use my X201 for 4 years now without any trouble. The original battery getting worned out, I replaced it with a 9Cell Duracell (Sanyo) one.
Since then and only when I use the new battery, AC unplugged, my laptop randomly shuts down with no warning. No overheating issue.
The Win7 logs point to powerfailure (Kernel Power at restart shows error 61)
I have a problem with my Lenovo ThinkPad X300 computer. The battery charging stuck at 99% (remaining capacity about 69% and 300 cycles). The Power Manager displays, the battery is at 100% but "status" periodically changes - both Power Manager and Windows battery indicator - between "No activity" and "Charging".
Every time stuck at the same "Remaining capacity". As i noticed during battery user windows and the Power Manager displays different information about the remaining battery level and time.
I'm having a bit of a strange problem with my Thinkpad X201.
I've been running Windows 7 Pro on it for almost a year without any problems at all, but the SSD I installed developed a fault and had to be replaced. I have the original Win 7 Pro DVD and have installed it from scratch on the new SSD but a few problems have come up.
W7 couldn't find any drivers for the network card or wireless card, and without a network connection it couldn't go online to find any - luckily I was able to download a network card driver via my desktop pc which I then installed on the X201, and when the Windows updates were downloaded and installed, the wireless also started working too.
However, the on-screen displays for the volume, brightness and Caps Lock functions don't work and neither does the Fn-F5 for wireless and Bluetooth.
I spent all of yesterday evening hunting various forums and downloading numerous drivers etc, but I still can't get the OSD to work.
I've tried Lenovo's System Update which downloaded some things and have also tried using the Intel video drivers etc but am totally lost now as to what to do next.
I know that the OSDs do work as they were all working perfectly on the original W7 install, I just don't know what the problem is now with this clean install.
I have tried in Windows 7 64bit and 8 64bit and have had no luck.
I have googled all over and found some hints on this forum to try installing Communication Manager, but it does not solve anything. It's like the camera is not seen.
I know the camera is not broken or disconnected because LINUX of all things can see it and use it.
On the X201 page there are no drivers for the camera at all, only the communication manager install. For Win 8 it is listed that the drivers are built into Windows 8, but as far as I can tell this is not the case, unless i am doing something wrong?

It definitely works, I have used it several times with Skype, but I can't figure out how to turn it on outside of Skype. I have tried the Fn+Esc and the Fn+F6 things, and quite frankly I'm not even sure if it applies to x201 laptops, but its definitely not working for mine. My laptop is refurbished and i just got it recently.

Okay so i probaly have the weirdest problem ever with this laptop, so the issue started when the display stopped working properly and would only work at a certain angle or when u would apply slight pressure on a certain part of the screen, faulty monitor correct?wrong. When i uninstalled the intel gpu drivers and reverted back to the standard microsoft display adapter all these problems disappeared, screen would work at all angles and the display would have no issues, so that sums out the possibility of the monitor being faulty. The display starts having these issues everytime the intel display drivers are installed, it just blows my mind how this is even a thing. The screen flickers twice and turns off after windows is done booting when the intel drivers are installed and works perfectly without them.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWith this laptop, the CPU usage rises significantly whenever the battery is charging. If I'm on running on battery power or it's fully charged, I don't have this problem. The CPU stays at 2-3% while browsing the internet, for example. But browsing the internet while the battery is charging will send the CPU up to 90-100%. It's not just browsing the internet, but any task, such as running Sony Vegas, using Skype, watching a movie, etc.
Again, this only happens while the battery is charging. Everything runs much, much slower. All power management settings are identical whether it be running on battery or charging with the AC adapter, so it's not that. I am also using the 65w power adapter that was supplied with the computer, and the adapter becomes very hot to the touch while charging.
Is there the ability to disable the touchpad on the W530? I don't see it as an option in the function keys. I am using a mouse and it's a bit annoying brushing my hand against it and having it mess something up.

When I move the cursor into the VMWare window a message comes on say "NUM LOCK: ON" when I move it out of the VMWare window I see message "NUM LOCK: OFF". I do not have any key on the keyboard to disable Num Lock. There are utilities I can run in the SUSE VMWare image to capture the key binding and remap, but I do not have anyway of turning Num Lock on or off to capture the key binding.

As this laptop is only 3 months old Lenovo send me a brand new one but the outcome was the same, the charge symbol comes up on my screen when rebooting the machine and shortly after stops completely. I have now had my internal battery pack changed and again no improvement.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAlthough I'm using my X1 Carbon since September 2012 and work with it every day for at least 8 hours, I still can't get used to the Trackpad: the biggest problem is that I accidentally right-click all the time, because when clicking in the lower right corner of the Trackpad, it's a right-click. On a 'normal' Trackpad, this would not be a problem, because there would be some physical divider that would give my fingers feedback on when I've reached the right-click-area...
The solution would be to disable the corner click completely since I'm not using it anyway. Unfortunately, the respective "Configure"-button is disabled in my UltraNav tool window. See the screenshot:

I am able to disable touchpad OR trackpoint by going into mouse properties in control panel but it won't let me do both. I would like to turn it back on relatively easily if possible.
I am trying to do this on a work computer and I have no administrative rights and I am using Windows 7 Professional.
Can this be done or did Lenovo completely overlook such a simple feature?
When I plug in the AC adapter, my x1 shuts off right away. I have to reset the time in the bios to get it to work again. This happened right after I changed the keyboard. Now, it seems to be permanent issue. I thought it was an adapter issue but I have two adapters and both work fine.

However that article seems a little old. The synaptics control panel on the W540 seems to be markedly different and I cannot for the life of me find out where to disable that or set the middle click to be a regular middle click.
I recently got the Z500, working under Windows 8.I got a question regarding the battery charge. I work on the laptop for extended periods of time with the power plugged in. Only during charging of my laptop or when the laptop is on battery does the jittery/distorted audio playback occur. Happens during Flash playback or local media playback using say VLC, sometimes the distortion can Freeze or lock up the system.....
I've tried Audio Drivers, Video and my BIOS is the latest. This playback issue did not occur under Windows7 when I had it installed....
I have an ideapad p500, and for a while now the battery indicator in windows has said "60% available (plugged in, not charging)".
I have upgraded the battery firmware with the available download on this site, but its still not charging above 60%.
I recently just received my Ideapad y510p laptop back, and I unplugged it and the battery dropped to 60% but when I try to charge my laptop, it'll just stay at 60%. The battery says its plugged in but it won't charge.

This past month, however, I haven't used it (until now) and noticed that my battery icon is stuck on "36% available (plugged in, charging)" but the thing is it's not charging whatsoever. What's worse is that if/when I pull the adapter from the laptop, it cuts off completely. The battery indicator light is steady white when the adapter is plugged in as well.
