Lenovo B / G Series :: G505 Failing In Targeted Read Test And Smart Short Self Test
Jul 25, 2014
For the past two days LSC is alerting that Hardware scan has detected one or more hardware failures. The tests in which my laptop G505 59379534 is failing are given as Targeted read and smart short self test. Also against local connection test warning is shown. My OS is windows 8.1. Only couple of days back I have installed HP2545 printer on my PC. I do not know wheher this has something to do with present status of laptop. Also I am using Kaspersky internet security 2014. I am worried whether this alert message points to any serious impending problem for my laptop. Laptop is almost 9 months old. It is still under warranty.
I bought the machine t430 thinkpad three months in the United States.
Currently the program to check the hard drive by LSC, the error message is: Targeted read test Failed
Diagnostics SMART status test Passed Targeted read test Failed Random seek test Passed Funnel seek test Passed SMART short self-test Passed SMART drive self-test Passed
The time machine is still time 8 months warranty. Hitachi Hard Drive 500 GB 7200 rpm / min
Is it due to the speed that new hard drive used for 3 months has been corrupted? In case of warranty, Lenovo does not provide a Windows license again, right?
The parameters of the hard drive Hitachi-HITACHIHTS725050A7E630-TF1500Y9HK360B Result code: WHD01V002-UI7X0H
I ran the Lenovo Solution Center Harddisk test on my Thinkpad R61 (8918DFG) laptop and got a warning regarding the "SMART short self-test" with the result code: WHD01V000-QIHW7J.
The "SMART drive self-test" was Not Available. The other HDD tests went OK.
I have a 2 year old inspiron 15 (M5030) running win 7 and have had 2 problems that keep coming up
1) I run the dell diagnostics in the Dell Support Center for my hd and it keeps coming up "targeted read test failed" how do i fix that
2) I keep getting the message "USB Device Not recognized" message pop up constantly especially when I'm using my laptop on my lap when I don't have anything attached to a USB port. How do I get that to stop popping up...
I have a Dell Inspiron N5110. The Warranty ran out in July of last year so for some reason I cannot email technical support directly.I ran the Dell PC Diagnostic test earlier today, all of which passed with the exception of the SMART Short Self Test which failed. Apparently my hard drive is "operating outside of normal parameters and should be replaced". I tried this twice, once with the Dell diagnostic software installed on my laptop and once using the downloadable diagnostics from the Dell website, both had the same outcome.
I then tried the system diagnostics accessed via the F12 key on system startup. Again all passed but the hard drive test which would not run and provided the following message:
Error code 2000-0142 validation 12985 Msg Hard Drive 0 s/n (omitted), self test unsuccessful status = 7
I have read around on the support forums that the next step to try is removing and replacing the hard drive then re-running the diagnostics. If this does not solve the issue and I have to replace the hard drive does that mean I will need to buy a new copy of windows to install on the hard drive, as my laptop came with no disks? I have backed up all my important files but obviously not any programs.
what my next steps would be and what the process is should I have to replace my hard drive? I am a "noob" in this area and don't want to spending uneccassary money on parts that don't need to be replaced or buying software I don't need to replace as it is already available if you see what I mean?
I haven't noticed any issues with my PC, but the scan reported this today on device Seagate-ST9500420AS-5VJEW3V. what this error means, what device it's referring to, and a recommended course of action?
My Lenovo Solution Center (LSC) told me that my mSATA had a targetd read test fail. I ran the test myself and it had the same issue. Read some threads and tried the LSC test but only tested the SSD, and it passed all tests when ran this way.
Went to the IBM Electronic Service Call website and entered the details and they sent me an empty box to ship my laptop back for repair. This seems overkill as I'm sure I could just pop in a new mSATA if that really was the problem, I don't want to give up my PC.
My T430 seems to run fine. Wondering if this is a software problem with LSC? Here is my error code:
LENOVO HARDWARE SCAN ERROR: RESULT CODE: WHD01V002-UI8VYJ DATE RUN: 1/26/2013 - 14:52 DEVICE: SANDISK-SANDISKSSDU10016GB-123659310730
(I don't get this error when I test the SSD by itself, only if SSD is tested right after the primary HD)
Is it worth sending back to Lenovo? Or does LSC have a glitch?
My HP Pavilion G6 laptop fails to load Windows. The HP UEFI diagnostics for hard disk failed the Short DST test with failure code GU754F-6PK7GW-MFPWXG-60TQ03. Does this mean I have to replace my hard drive? My laptop's product ID is E3D62EA#ABU and I have Win8.1 64-BIT installed on it.
After putting the power on, nothing happen. It gives some kind of blue background. But it's not the critical error blue screen. It's some kind of windows-bitmap.
Using Esc and F2 I could do a System Test. The Short DST (don't know what that means...) says: FAILED.....
It gives details on the FAILURE ID : 64SP28-5HB7AC-XD003F-60VF03.... What should I do next?
The notebook is a HP, model DV6-3160SD, Running W7 on it. Don't know the bit-version (and can not check it).....
My laptop HP Pavilion dv6-6c35dx fails to load Windows. I ran diagnostics and got a quick (303) error. The HP UEFI diagnostics for hard disk failed the Short DST test with failure code MBX47F 0006QU PXGK01 60QT03. Does this mean I have to replace my hard drive? My laptop's product ID is A6Y53UAR#ABA and I have Win7 -64 installed on it.
I recently ran a test on my laptop(N4050).It first showed me I had a SMART extended self test failure. Then I had a hardware failure message. I have attached one of the things.May I know what am I supposed to do? My warranty has expired.
I have an Inspiron 7010 which is 2 years old. In control panel devices it tells me to troubleshoot the laptop and cannot rectify problem with Broadcom virtual wireless adaptor. Secondly running the diagnostics say the Read test is not running. These are the only problems but are not affecting the efficiency of the PC. Should I ignore it?
My HP Pavilion TouchSmart 15-n071nr Notebook PC is not working I keep getting failure ID QC473F-6T776L-MFPWWK-60TH03 And I don't know what it means also my Short DST says Failure...
My laptop G505 59379534 has become horribly slow. In fact it is so right from beginning when I purchased six months back. Around 50 GB of data consisting of audio, video files are stored in it. It takes atleast 2 to 3 minutes to open even a small file of 5 Mb size. Also I have installed all latest drivers from AMD site. Also I am using Kapersky internet security 2014 and it is up to date. No virus or spyware is detected when I run full scan. Can I improve it's speed and if so how.
I bought my G505s in August 2013 and I'm only noticing now that it's been running pretty hot.I've been using several different programs to try to see and compare the temperatures of the quad core CPUs. I've also looked in many different fourm communities and have found this is not at all like the common overheating problems with the G505s. Others have experienced other heating problems when they play games, as their cores go to around 70C to 80C
"How so," you ask?Details and actions I've taken:
1. My temperatures soar to above 80C each when idle, and over 100 when doing light work. 2. BIOS and drivers have all been updated to the latest versions available for Windows 8.1 as per the Lenovo website. 3. I have never played games on the laptop, so I know the overheating is not because something related to that. 4. I cleaned my computer yesterday, although there was hardly any dust build up.
My temperature readings come from speccy, and hwmonitor.
I am getting frequently the message ' Catalyst control center has stopped working' on my laptop. My laptop is G505(59379534) with win 8.1 64 bit os. I learnt that updating to latest catalyst drivers from AMD site may solve this problem. But how can I locate specific driver suited to my laptop in AMD site for downloading. Also today morning the message ' Display driver stopped and it was recovered successfully' was flashed in laptop. So I think latest display driver is also needed. Whether I have to install any updates for solving above problems if so how to identify required drivers for downloading.
My lenovo G505 recently had to be reformated because there was a blue screen that came up one day that said there was problem with my PC and the error was critical_service_error, something like that. So my dad had to reinstall windows 8 for me using a cd he had that didn't come with the computer I don't believe. So now for some reason my screen brightness isn't adjusting and it's driving me crazy! It's staying on full brightness which I hate! I tried changing it from the personalization screen and nothing happens.
I updated/upgraded my G505 to Windows 8.1 this morning and now it appears that Bluetooth isn't working. I've downloaded the driver listed for the Atheros/Broadcom device, but when the install runs it says it can't find anything to install. Manually running both driver installs doesn't get me anywhere.
Is this a known issue with Win 8.1? I tried the Win 8 driver, same thing.
My Lenovo touchpad is unresponsive after an update by avast that requires a reboot. I have no way to log in at this point. Is there a way around this? How do I fix it?
Get Hirens Boot CD Link not provided as it may be illegal.
Burn it to a cd or dvd-r
Reboot your system and boot from cd/dvd drive. once booted select hirens boot cd. once you have that you will get a menu .
Go to Menu 5 (Testing Tools) --> Menu 1 (RAM) ---> Memtest+ This will test your system memory , and will take about +/-45min. When pass OKE reboot when error you will see red lines.
SOME SMALL INFO PC-Check 6.05 is a old version it can have some problems with some systems! hirens provides more testing tools then listed. Again Back to hirens menu Go to Menu 5 (Testing Tools) --> PC-Check 6.05 Wait a min for loading. Once loaded --> Immediate Burnin Testing --> Select Tests Select this : -prossesor, can be two - motherboard (Aspire one --> Disable dma Controller!) - all hdd (SMART EXTENDED,Mech-stress,internal Cache ONLY!) - Stress Test - Make sure to have a clear cd/dvd in you driver for optical test ( IF you get a failure here, do a tress test in windows! like 3dmark and pcmark)
when all selected press ESC and go to perform and wait. +/- 90min
All this will test your system exept for 3D , use ati tool for 3D scan................
