Mar 30, 2009Can anyone point me to the reset button on a 6935, cannot find it for the life of me.
Had a few hangs of late, and no way to reset the laptop, the power button does nothing.

Apr 26, 2009I spotted an Acer Aspire 6935 at a cheaper price which seems to have identical technical specs apart from a slower Hard Drive - 5,400rpm versus 7,200rpm.
I know that the G stands for Gemstone but from the pic available on the retailer's website its difficult to see any significant difference.
Can anyone tell me if there are any other differences between the 2 models? Or - is it purely a matter of cosmetics ? Are the cosmetic differences minor ?
Also - would there be any noticeable difference in performance between a 5,400 rpm HD and a 7,200 rpm HD if the processor and the graphics card are the same ?
I will be using the laptop for general purposes and occasional gaming.

Nov 14, 2008Are Acer laptops one's that I could rely on for 3-4 years to come?
I've been planning on buying a new laptop this month or at the beginning of December. I was considering Dell's new XPS, when they come out, but so far no luck on that front.
The Acer Aspire 6935 has caught my eye, but it seems dangerously cheap for the specs. (T9400 CPU, 9600GT GPU, Blu Ray, FullHD screen etc - and that for only 1299.- euros).
If users who have the 6935 could post their opinions (I realise that it won't be after a year or so of usage, but still) and maybe some benchmarks, or gaming results?
So all in all - is the quality up for it, is it up for 3-4 years, with out me going to the warranty service every now and then after a year or so?

May 16, 2009Ok after 3 days of using the 1340 I just realized the button on the top panel that you can use to increase/decrease volume stopped working. I had updated the latest drivers from Dell site but not sure if that is the reason.
Also non of the other buttons that are for DVD work either. And I know they were working when I got the laptop and only thing I have done is update with latest drivers.

Mar 20, 2010I have an S series and when I press the silver VAIO button it mutes the sound.
I haven't found where to change the function of this button.
I've only removed the following Sony apps:
media gallery
pmb 5 and pmb plugins (click2disk/image optimizer/movie story)
vaio content metadata intelligent analyzing manager
vaio transfer support
Unfortunately I can't remember the default function of this button. Perhaps it was the media gallery? I'd like to change it anyhow.
Acer :: 1810tz Reset To Default
Apr 19, 2010I want to sell my 1810tz notebook because of different reasons, one is the buzzing noise problem over speaker or line-out. So is there any easy way in resetting the 1810tz drive C: to default state like out of the box state? There is a hidden partition 12Gb in size, is that a backup Windows 7 installation partition I can access while booting or so? And if yes, will it delete all data stored on the HDD just like clean installation?

Oct 10, 2009I bought a 2450 and the keyboard, touchpad and usb ports are all not working. I did some reading and someone had said that a reset could fix this problem, he said it was a problem with Acers bios. I'm trying to find where to jumper it, i read that you jumper J3 that is around the memory. I did that and don't think it reset, i figured the bios would give me a time warning or some sort of setting's warning. I thought i should see if anyone knows the procedure. Otherwise im thinking about cutting the lead to the top terminal and soldering in a jumper (which i don't want to do).

It happends with Internet Explorer,Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome,when I post long messages in forums or blogs,or when I upload files in hosting websites like imageshack or megaupload,Firefox tells me that "The connection was reset"
In the other computer I have I can upload files without problems and I don't get errors,the two computers share the same net.

Acer :: Aspire 5610 Factory Reset
Aug 16, 2009I am trying to perform a factory reset for a Acer laptop but I cannot find an option that I am looking for.
I hit ALT + F10 at bootup and I get to the eRecovery Management screen.
From here, I get two choices:
1. Restore system to factory default.
2. Restore system from CD/DVD
As, I do not have any DVDs, I choose option 1. After that, the recovery process continues without any more prompts and restores the laptop to its default settings.
Here is the problem but. The laptop has a 120GB Had drive which after factory reset is split into 2 partitions of 55GB each with the remaining 10GB for the hidden recovery partition. Thus there is 3 partitions in total.
As it is Vista Premium, C: is already 50% full straight after the factory reset.
Is there any way I can perform the reset and have an option to just have one C drive of 110GB? I did not see any such option when performing the reset by using ALT + F10. There doesn't seem to be an option for this when performing the reset from within Windows itself.
I was thinking maybe deleting the D partiton before performing the reset may help but I am not 100 percent sure as I am not sure if the factory image contains 1 or 2 partitions.

Jun 16, 2008if it's possible to buy and install a replacement BIOS for an Acer Travelmate 2300 (as my 2300 died half-way through a flashing process-it will power on but there is nothing on the screen) or is the BIOS chip soldered to the motherboard and not possible (I've no technical skill at soldering).
Or is there a way to reset the BIOS? I could find nothing on the Acer website specific for this model.

Oct 11, 2008I recently sold my Aspire 5002 WLMi notebook to a friend who changed too many settings and mussed up the BIOS in record time.... 10 days. I got most back by using a restore point but noticed he had a BIOS password requirement for booting up. I went to change that and set the new password with blank fields....save and quit....reboot....
...and whoops. Neither does a blank field nor his old password work now. in hindsight, I recall it was odd how some of his BIOS options had been greyd out and realized he must have a supervisor and another BIOS password. Swears he doesnt remember what he did. Now, we're locked out with 3 tries and error code 00000.
I removed the CMOS battery but unlike desktops I've messed with, I cant find any jumpers or marked pads to short out. Read somewhere that Acer now uses some form of flash memory. I cant find any documentation on this and Acer hasnt answered my email. Most of their sites dont even list this version of laptop. I bought it in Amsterdam at the end of 2005 but their Netherlands site is only in Dutch, a language I cant begin to decipher.
Anyone have ideas on this or possibly a motherboard schematic with lables? I looked at lists for Acer MB's and theres not a single number printed on here that resembles those lists I found.

It starts and works fine except that after I was using it with an external monitor (a flat screen tv) on the option to use external monitor, it only now starts thinking the monitor is the flat screen tv and does not recognizes the normal laptop screen. The laptop screen is now "pixeled" and only shows like 2/3 of its total width. I've checked in Control Panel and it has the flat screen registered as the "normal" monitor, but I can not way a find to tell the computer that the monitor is the same as usual and not the flat screen tv.

Acer :: 7730 WiFi Button
Feb 22, 2010A friend of mine has an Acer 7730 and I think his WiFi button is broke. Every time he presses it, it spouts a random set or r[]'s when the light flashes (every 5secs ish). It was suggested he had a virus and so a full reinstall was done, but now I've looked at it I think its a dodgy key! The original keyboard has been replaced as I think something was spilt on it, but of course the keys down the left are seperate.
So long story short, he cant get on the internet as pressing the key makes any text go rrrr[[[[[]]]]]] etc etc. Is there anyway to enable WiFi without this button? and can it be replaced?

Oct 16, 2014I purchased my daughter an Aspire One 725-0687 last Christmas. She only used it a couple months and it has sat around for the past 5 months with no use at all. She went to use it today and couldn't remember her password. I tried several but continue to get the same response... "Your PC is offline. Please sign in with the last password used on this PC". For some reason, it's not connecting to wifi, I have removed the battery, I have attempted "safe mode" with Alt f5, f8 and even f10 and I get nothing except back to the sign in screen. I can change the setting without issue and the settings work to my specifications... but every time I shut my computer down, the settings revert to default upon start up. I have an MSI 6833 mini pci wireless card fitted into my laptop which is recognised by windows and showing as working OK.
The problem is that I can't turn the antenna on for the card.
It appears that the wireless button across the top of the keyboard does not recognise the card.
The wifi button flashes on briefly at boot up, but then remains permanently off.
I have looked everywhere for a solution to this but had no joy...including Acer support who were totally useless.
I am running Vista SP1, everything else works great with no problems.
Using a pcmcia wireless card, I can connect without any problems, but it would be easier to use an internal card.
