View 10 Replies View RelatedCan anyone point me to the reset button on a 6935, cannot find it for the life of me.
Had a few hangs of late, and no way to reset the laptop, the power button does nothing.
I spotted an Acer Aspire 6935 at a cheaper price which seems to have identical technical specs apart from a slower Hard Drive - 5,400rpm versus 7,200rpm.
I know that the G stands for Gemstone but from the pic available on the retailer's website its difficult to see any significant difference.
Can anyone tell me if there are any other differences between the 2 models? Or - is it purely a matter of cosmetics ? Are the cosmetic differences minor ?
Also - would there be any noticeable difference in performance between a 5,400 rpm HD and a 7,200 rpm HD if the processor and the graphics card are the same ?
I will be using the laptop for general purposes and occasional gaming.
Anyone managed to install SP2 final? I am getting error 0x80004005. I have original Vista Home on my 6935.

View 10 Replies View RelatedAre Acer laptops one's that I could rely on for 3-4 years to come?
I've been planning on buying a new laptop this month or at the beginning of December. I was considering Dell's new XPS, when they come out, but so far no luck on that front.
The Acer Aspire 6935 has caught my eye, but it seems dangerously cheap for the specs. (T9400 CPU, 9600GT GPU, Blu Ray, FullHD screen etc - and that for only 1299.- euros).
If users who have the 6935 could post their opinions (I realise that it won't be after a year or so of usage, but still) and maybe some benchmarks, or gaming results?
So all in all - is the quality up for it, is it up for 3-4 years, with out me going to the warranty service every now and then after a year or so?
Looking for Acer 6935/6930G service manual, i got the 6920 service manual, but hoping that someone can provide me the link.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Inspiron 1420 and I'm going to upgrade to Windows 7, the drivers listed for the 1420 are outdated,
I can find newer ones searching the support site but they are listed for other models.
Is it better to just stick with the ones listed for my model or should I go with the updated ones. What do most people here do?
If I rightclick then selected format and then OK Will it harm my computer? I want to erase everything. Should i even bother erasing the D Drive?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince updating the firmware on my LG drive (GSA-T50L) on every restart I get a message that Windows (Vista Home Basic) cannot install the driver. I click the second option, which is to "remind me later." I have to do this every time I boot up. The CD ROM is actually working OK as far as I can tell, but I'm still getting the error message. Device Manager doesn't list any driver, and trying to update it through device manager is unsuccessful.
I'm using firmware rev. SC05. I wondered if downgrading back to SC04 would cure the problem, but after hundreds of searches I cannot find the firmware anywhere on the Internet. Why it's so rare, I have no idea.
Maybe the problem has been caused by myself -- I deleted the drivers folder from the recovery partition some time ago to gain a couple of GB of drive space. However, I was under the impression that the CDROM uses Windows' own driver, so maybe this isn't the problem? I'm absolutely stumped. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue?
FWIW, I have recovery discs, only I'm unsure about using them because I don't want to wipe the entire system and start from scratch. If it's possible to restore only the missing drivers folder from the recovery partition this might be a good start.
So i recently upgraded my Aspire 5560g to Windows 8.1. I liked it but it seemed to have lost my drivers in the process (my track pad scrolling didnt work and my Dolby audio origram was gone).
Â
I went to  for the drivers and decided to start with a firmware upgrade (9545 for hard disk performance).Â
Â
After the computer rebooted, I entered the dreaded Windows 8.1 boot loop. It would say "Your PC ran into problems..." with the bluescreen, then turn off. Then it would attempt the Automatic repair, and fail again, then restart the cycle.
Â
I wasn't able to even get into my BIOS until I cleared my CMOS, now at least I can get into BIOS.
Â
I created a bootable USB for Windows in hopes I could do a clean install, but even when trying to boot from a USB I get the blue Windows 8 screen, "Your PC ran into problems..."Is there a way I can undo the firmware update, it seems like the culprit, doesn't it?Â
Â
EDIT: I've read that the Windows boot loop may be caused by outdated drivers. Think this could be the problem after I did the firmware update? How can I install the drivers without being able to boot into Windows?
I'm going to do a clean install of Vista soon but my battery is dead, won't even recharge, needs to be replaced.
Just wondering if I will run into any issues ?
Dell seem extortionate for an Inspiron 1520 replacement. Worth a 3rd party risk? Seen some non OEM ones on ebay with a 1 year guarantee for half the price.
The laptop goes into a restarting mode, which after computer loaded the desktop and taskbar keep on restarting itself.  Cant click or do anything in it.
Â
I tried to use F8, it wont bring me to the sttandard loading option.Â
Â
When i bough t it, no manual, no dvd or anything.Â
My acer 8930G has a quad core q9000 at 2ghz 6mb cashe and 1066fsb, the graphics is 9600GT with 1gb ddr3 ram.
How do I go about overclocking and what are the safe limits for this model?
Oh and I just installed windows 7 ultimate and my windows performance went down from 6.9 (vista) to 2.4!
I have got a new tablet and before I could download any spyware etc a virus has got me ! Its called Ransomware Ukash and i`m completely locked out. it`s windows 8.....

Please sign in with the last password used on this PC".  For some reason, it's not connecting to wifi, I have removed the battery, I have attempted "safe mode" with Alt f5, f8 and even f10 and I get nothing except back to the sign in screen. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find a solution to repair a Vista (Home?) installation on an Aspire 5920. The laptop blue screens with a Stop error code 00000F4 when booted in either Normal and Safe Mode. This problem started after installing a program although it may also have a malware/virus problem. The inbuilt Startup Repair and System Restore both fail.

I have the Acer Recovery disks but the Acer eRecovery website suggests that all personal data will be lost if they are used. Is it possible to repair the OS installation from the recovery disks instead of reinstalling it?
I have an Acer 6930ZG with a fresh install of windows 7 RC 32bit. I can play Call Of Duty 4, Counter Strike, Flatout 2 etc. with no problems! But when I try to open MapleStory a blue screen appears, and begin to make a physcial memory dump? . MapleStory is a 2D-game, and Call Of Duty requires much more.
I made a little research, and I found out that alot of people have the same problem, and they said it was caused by a conflict with a program or hardware drivers. I have tried to delete my NVIDIA driver, and install it again. No luck.
And yes, I have also tried to run MapleStory in compatibily mode
As I said: It's only in MapleStory I experience the problem, and I don't think it's ram-failure, since I have seen the same problem on a different computer, and I can play Call of Duty 4.
Here is the system log:
Problemsignatur:
Navn på problemhændelse:BlueScreen
OS-version:6.1.7100.2.0.0.256.1
Landestandard-id:1030.....................
I have had an aspire 5920g for about 18 months now and it was all working fine until I updated the graphic drivers, but the drivers stopped installing halfway through and now I can't install any graphic drivers.
I tried to install my original drivers and they won't install. The system keeps freezing and I think thats the problem.
I've tried making a recovery disc but erecovery won't recognize blank DVD's and acer 'support' are only too happy to grab you by your feet, turn you upside down and let all your money fall out so they can charge you for a reovery disc - absolutely ridiculous - instead of actually trying to help me.
And also for some reason a yellow triangle appeared next to the ACEYTS4Y IDE controller a week after I got it but up until now didn't seem to cause any problems.
Doing a clean install of Vista and keep getting prompted to locate and install driver for "Coprocessor". Have looked in device manager (yellow mark) but I just don't know what it is. Windows says it can't locate software for it.
Don't know what I am looking for on Acers site under drivers, installed all other stuff OK, Realtek, NVidia etc. Could it be a modem driver. Properties in device manager give no clues, it's listed as "other devices" along with the webcam which I have to sort drivers out for too.
I have bought acer laptop.
1. This is Extensa 6702ZNWLMi
2. Intel Pentium M processor 735A
3. DVD-Dual double layer
Now when i press the power button it start and after some processing shows the following:
Linpus Linux Basic Edition v9.2 b060419c
[root@ localhost /]#
Now i dont understand this command [root@ localhost /]# and after this command cursor is blinking to write some thing.
I also dont know that how to launch that window in which i can change the boot priority. In my pc that i use in home i press del after starting my computer and a window comes where i change my boot priority and then boot from cd windows xp and install it. But in this case i dont know how to install xp. and my next question is that can i play cd in DVD-Dual double layer.
Just bought an 8940G from Newegg and received it yesterday.
I started it up, just enough to run the recovery tools and burn the recovery DVD's. After that, I blew it away and installed Ubuntu (9.10)
My intention is/was to run Windows 7 in a VM off of Ubuntu, but I'm a bit concerned about my ability to do the reinstallation off of the recovery DVD's in the VM. I'll be running VMware 7 Workstation.
-) Has anyone ever done a native OS installation from the recovery DVD's?
-) Will the Win7 OS install from the recovery DVD's barf if being installed in a VM?
I'm guessing that the install would be OEM locked, so it technically won't "see" my laptop hardware in the VM environment.
i have an acer 5100 and had vista on it...its gave me problems and stuff so i had to delete it and install windows xp and now im having a bunch of problems with the drivers....i downloaded the network card to use online but its giving me problems not connecting to my router now and stuff ..how do i install the drivers and what site to download them from becuase some arent compatible with xp

View 13 Replies View RelatedI bought an Acer Aspire 5102 when it had Windows XP MCE on it. I bought Vista when it came out and installed it. Now I have some software for school that will only work on XP so I'm looking to reinstall XP. Now while I made the recovery DVDs, they're all scratched up and they won't read anymore. So I'm using an OEM copy of Windows XP MCE. But whenever I'm doing the installation, the computer just shuts off. I tried different installation CDs and it does the same thing. I then tried a Windows 2000 disc and it told me my BIOS was not ACPI complient and to update the BIOS. So I downloaded and installed the lastest BIOS from Acer's site (version 3.10) and it still dos the same thing. Vista (and linux) will install fine on it, but not XP/2000.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi uninstalled acer empowering technology with the intention of reinstalling it afterwards. it had been laggy and closed spontaneously for a while, so i was going to download it again from acer support.
i got rid of all the components, went to the website, and downloaded it.
after installation completed it said something about WMIAcercheck.exe not working.
i tried to boot it up, and it said exception message:
and then it said sorry! not an acer system.
however, my computer is clearly an acer system.
it's an acer aspire 5100.
i neeeed acer empowering tech to hook up to the internet, it's extremely slow to do it another way.
After a clean install of Vista without deleting any partitions I cannot install eRecovery software.
