View 10 RepliesAre Acer laptops one's that I could rely on for 3-4 years to come?
I've been planning on buying a new laptop this month or at the beginning of December. I was considering Dell's new XPS, when they come out, but so far no luck on that front.
The Acer Aspire 6935 has caught my eye, but it seems dangerously cheap for the specs. (T9400 CPU, 9600GT GPU, Blu Ray, FullHD screen etc - and that for only 1299.- euros).
If users who have the 6935 could post their opinions (I realise that it won't be after a year or so of usage, but still) and maybe some benchmarks, or gaming results?
So all in all - is the quality up for it, is it up for 3-4 years, with out me going to the warranty service every now and then after a year or so?
I have a problem with my keyboard. I think I've been unlucky enough that something has gotten under my 3 and t keys. Not just sitting underneath but in the mechanism itself it would seem. They still work, but they are stiff and I really have to press them to get them to respond. Is there anything I can try to fix it that won't require me to void my warranty or take it to get fixed?

View 4 Replies View RelatedLet's start off with: Acer Aspire V3-772G (Intel(R) ore(TM) i7-4702MQ CPU @2.20GHz, 8 gb Ram)
Regardless: After noticing a slight dip in preformance from games and use of my laptop in general so i decided to clean the fans. As this laptop is close to impossible to open up i decided to clean it the easy way, to blast compressed air directly into the fan in slow and infrequent blasts. After getting alot of dust out of the system i turned the laptop back on only to hear this "cd-reading"-like hissing from the left side of the laptop (where the fan is). Being worried i might have broken something i turned it stright off, and then on again realising there was not much i could do about it right now.
I am worried i might have spun the fan to fast, causing this, as the fan did not make this sound when i bought it new or before i cleaned it for that sake. It was bought online from a norwegian store (i currently live in norway) at 2014-08-18. I thought i would ask here before i contacted the store or support to see if this is just me over-reacting or if
I have cleaned my Aspire 5750 as it had accumulated dust over last 3years, I stripped down, clean the fan, re-pasted the CPU and put everything back carefully, when I switched it on, the fan spins for a while and turns off, battery gets charged( changing from orange to blue) but only black screen.
I have checked the connections, changed CMOS battery, tried pressing Power button without battery and mains for 20 secs.
What does HP recommend using to clean and disinfect a notebook keyboard? I've just been wiping mine down with a cloth but I would like to disinfect it once in a while too.

Today i have cleaned my lenovo G560 Keyboard with a soft napkin and medical alcohol (ethanol).

View 10 Replies View RelatedCan anyone point me to the reset button on a 6935, cannot find it for the life of me.
Had a few hangs of late, and no way to reset the laptop, the power button does nothing.
I spotted an Acer Aspire 6935 at a cheaper price which seems to have identical technical specs apart from a slower Hard Drive - 5,400rpm versus 7,200rpm.
I know that the G stands for Gemstone but from the pic available on the retailer's website its difficult to see any significant difference.
Can anyone tell me if there are any other differences between the 2 models? Or - is it purely a matter of cosmetics ? Are the cosmetic differences minor ?
Also - would there be any noticeable difference in performance between a 5,400 rpm HD and a 7,200 rpm HD if the processor and the graphics card are the same ?
I will be using the laptop for general purposes and occasional gaming.
Anyone managed to install SP2 final? I am getting error 0x80004005. I have original Vista Home on my 6935.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI currently have an AA1 and am curious to those who tried typing on both the HP Mini and the AA1 keyboards and noticed a difference. I believe the HP's keyboard is 92% and the AA1's is 89% I believe. It feels "okay" to type on, obviously not the best due to its size compared to a normal keyboard, but am wondering if the HP's is worth the price jump (paid 300 for mine).

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Acer Aspire One, which I love, does one thing that drives me NUTS! The touchpad, mainly noticed in games (FPS are the most detectable), doesn't respond while pressing keys... IE, I press "W" to run forward, and the touchpad doesn't work simultaniously... I can run, or look around, but not both at the same time... why is that? No other touchpad in a laptop I've ever used had the limitaion? And, when using an external mouse, the mouse works great, meaning I can move around pressing keys on the keyboard all while looking around. It just gets annoying having to stop, look around, then move, stop, look around, move, etc.
Is this a driver problem or a hardware problem? Even the EEE Pc that I use to have didn't do this, so why the new Acer? Curious, and no idea how to fix it.... Maybe it's even a setting somewhere I'm unaware of...
i've an aspire 5585 whose keyboard wont work anymore. i cant even enter bios(using f2 key at the acer logo splash screen where it says "press f2 to enter setup"), but the wierd thing is that if i turn on the laptop with F2 key pressed i get in the bios but still the keyboard wouldn't work and cannot navigate through bios menu. my touchpad works fine

I believe I need to remove the panel above the keyboard that houses the speakers. On other models I see there are some screws to remove below the battery however on this model there isn't.
