View 8 RepliesMy laptop was freezing on boot up at the account selection, the cursor would not move or the keyboard operate.
I did a factory restore with the Acer discs and I am left with the same problem. If I access the Bios then the keyboard and touchpad work. The minute |I get to the Windows logon screen they are both dead again, no movement whatsoever.
So my g/f has bought this laptop from her brother for £100 and upon this he did tell us the battery is dead and the charger he is using ins't the official charger but the laptop works.
Upon getting the laptop I decided to try and make the battery last longer by discharging and charging it a few times fully, but this has just completely stopped the batery from working, fullstop.
So now I am having to run it off the power supply solely.
I have ordered a new battery from ebay and made sure it is the correct battery by checking the model of the laptop, model of the battery and not only that it's £15 cheaper then getting it from shops.
Dispite all that I still need to get a charger for this model, so I found one on ebay which said it was for the 5000 series but not my model, I emailed them and they confirmed to me that it wouldn't work for my laptop.
So now I am on the lookout for a charger for this laptop 5003WMLi but I don't know the model number for the charger so if anyone has an official charger for the 5003WLMi can they please post the model number so I can look for a cheap official charger.
Or if anyone knows what watt, voltage I need then I could perhaps get a charger to suit my needs................................
typing with screen keyboard.
My keyboard is partially not working, launch manager didn't work correct b4 but now some letter keys & even shift keys r not working.
Saying that, my battery came out of laptop (lock was unlocked) when it was shut down, anything to do with that maybe?
My touchpad and keyboard quit working all of a sudden. I tried to reboot and I can't select the safe mode choice cause the arrow keys on the keyboard don't work. Some people suggested that I remove the battery and reboot, and again nothing.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI bought an Aspire R13 recently and noticed the spacebar wasn't backlit. Is that normal?
Â
Also, am I the only one who is able to hear the backlight's high pitched PWM when it's fully on?
I am trying to troubleshoot a E1-531-4836 model laptop,  the right handside from the 9 does not work. So Num Lock and number pad etc does not work.  The touchpad does not work well either.  I can plug a USB keyboard and mouse in and they seem to work for the most part. Sometimes I can not bring up the charms etc with the USB mouse.  then I have to hit the space bar on the laptop keyboard, and I then can use the USB mouse to bring up charms.  I tried updating drivers and  restoring to original settings.  Did not fix my problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer 5003WLMi and I would like to add 1GB of memory. I did a crucial scan and they recommended some memory, specifically the DDR-PC2700 1GB CT478616. Now, I was ready to buy it, but on Amazon I did a search for DDR-PC2700 memory and found another 1GB DDR-PC2700, this time with part number CT12864X335. Given the sensitivity here, I would like reassurance, so is there any difference in these two parts and is it okay to buy the memory from Amazon, or should I just buy the one Crucial recommended?
Here are the links for each memory from Crucial.
I have a timeline 4810T which has worked lovely since September, but now I have a weird problem with it: The keyboard won't work until the operating system is loaded. I can't access the bios (press the F2 key but nothing happens), neither select my OS on the Grub menu as the arrow keys doesn't work, all I can do is wait for the 10 seconds timer, then Ubuntu launches, then I can login without problems and all the keys work perfectly.
To give more details, maybe some keys do actually work before the os boot, because when I'm on the grub menu, some keys manage to stop the timer, but unfortunately I can't change the OS or accept the selection, then I have to reboot and wait for the timer to go back to 0 for itself and ubuntu loads.
I'm running the newest BIOS, updated some days ago but didn't had the problem since today.
I currently have an AA1 and am curious to those who tried typing on both the HP Mini and the AA1 keyboards and noticed a difference. I believe the HP's keyboard is 92% and the AA1's is 89% I believe. It feels "okay" to type on, obviously not the best due to its size compared to a normal keyboard, but am wondering if the HP's is worth the price jump (paid 300 for mine).
View 7 Replies View Relatedmanual for a 2356 Travelmate or how to remove the case to check if the keyboard connection has come loose? I have performed a factory type reset using the setup and recovery disks but the keyboard still does not work. I have plugged in a usb keyboard which works fine but using it defeats the purpose of having a laptop. The reset was needed as i believe something nasty had got on board. The reset has cleared this all up but the keyboard still does not work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy uncle bought a Aspire E1-572-6870 series notebook six months before for me from USA. After using 10 to 15 days I noticed the internal speaker is not working. But the headphone and/or microphone is working very fine. I went to a local laptop repairing shop for diagnosis. Unfortunately they were unable to find out the actual problem. They suggest me to change the speaker chip may result solve the problem. Before changing the chip I want to diagnose once more for accuracy about the problem. Any online check can be possible?

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy Acer Aspire One, which I love, does one thing that drives me NUTS! The touchpad, mainly noticed in games (FPS are the most detectable), doesn't respond while pressing keys... IE, I press "W" to run forward, and the touchpad doesn't work simultaniously... I can run, or look around, but not both at the same time... why is that? No other touchpad in a laptop I've ever used had the limitaion? And, when using an external mouse, the mouse works great, meaning I can move around pressing keys on the keyboard all while looking around. It just gets annoying having to stop, look around, then move, stop, look around, move, etc.
Is this a driver problem or a hardware problem? Even the EEE Pc that I use to have didn't do this, so why the new Acer? Curious, and no idea how to fix it.... Maybe it's even a setting somewhere I'm unaware of...
i've an aspire 5585 whose keyboard wont work anymore. i cant even enter bios(using f2 key at the acer logo splash screen where it says "press f2 to enter setup"), but the wierd thing is that if i turn on the laptop with F2 key pressed i get in the bios but still the keyboard wouldn't work and cannot navigate through bios menu. my touchpad works fine

I'm trying to replace the keyboard on my Aspire 5542 but can't work out how to remove it.
I believe I need to remove the panel above the keyboard that houses the speakers. On other models I see there are some screws to remove below the battery however on this model there isn't.
how to replace the keyboard? My daughter spilled spaghetti on the keyboard and some of the keys doesn't work anymore . If anybody knows how to replace it with photos and instructions I would appreciate it a lot.
