I have a Dell XPS M1530 with the sound card that comes with the package. I also have the soundblaster audigy software but that is irrelevant as it pretty much does nothing.
I have a Yamaha TSS-15 surround sound system. It worked beautifully with my laptop before I reformatted. After reformatting, despite installing the latest Sigmatel High Definition Audio CODEC as well as ensuring the actual physical surround sound system was all in working order I am unable to get 5.1 from my laptop. When I click "test" and I click on the middle, rear speakers or subwoofer no sound is emitted however when I click on the left or right speakers they work fine. I have a standard audio cable plugged into my laptop which is then plugged into my surround sound system.
I can only locate that I have Sigmatel High Definition Audio (Codec) but my upgrades to the driver have not been installing because every time it says that proper driver was not found.
How can find the exact driver I have on my motherboard? Ultimately, I want to be able to get support for surround sound.
Also, I read the headphone jacks support digital audio and they are [left channel] [center channel] [right channel]
i havent long owned my hdx16 but am wondering of it is possible to connect my 5.1 surround system to it, it has 3 audio in jacks on the system and the laptop has 3 ports on it, surley there must be a way to connect the system.
The Acer support wrote that the timeline is able to output 5.1/Ac3 sound via hdmi.
The Realtek driver is configured to route the sound through hdmi.
Using vlc with a Blueray rip (with Ac3 sound), I can't select something like Ac3 Passthrough for hdmi (I found spdif passthrough when selecting it in the realtek drivers, but it didn't work either).
Well using k-lite codec pack forcing Ac3 output I only get noise on my end. The AV receiver should play DolbyDigital and DTS. what he does is dolby pro logic II upmix.
the dolby surround sound expander and the bass enhancer program on the bottom right in the taskbar?? well when i turn off the surround sound, it causes certain apps to sound different. for example the fingerprint reader. a successful swipe will sound muddy but with the surround sound enabled, it will become clear. this problem also conflicts with AIM and webchat, id have to turn on the surround sound to hear the person's voice clearly.
what is the easiest way to connect and properly operate a Logitech Z-5500 surround sound system from my new macbook pro 15inch. Do i have to get a new sound card? Or is there some sort of cable that I can buy instead?
My surround sound was incredible! But now after the latest updates, I can hardly hear the actors speaking due to the surround sound being so loud. How can I fix this? Or how can I "undo" the update? I have a Carbon X1 ....
I own a HP Pavilion Dv5 1171en laptop and find that my surround option in sound menu in control panel is unnavallable !
Tho i have sound from my 5.1 audio system when i connect it to the laptop but it seems significantly lower and lower quality than when connected to the PC ... improve my sound somehow ? I wonder how do i get that Surround Sound option enabled in the control panel ...
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 with 8600GT. I wanted to buy a 5.1 speaker set but it would be of no use as 1520 does not have 3 audio jacks while the 1525 and XPS 1530 has 5.1 output.
I was just wondering, if it was possible to somehow get an extra audio jack outside the laptop by checking if a header pin for a third audio jack exists on the motherboard since the audio chip is HD audio and motherboard design would be similar to 1525 and XPS 1530
I lot of people have openend up their systems and taken a look at the audio circuitry to fix the static noise coming from the headphone jacks. Did anyone notice if a third audio jack could be soldered to the motherboard to get 5.1 audio.
has anybody else had a crackling sound when playing sound example music/games. i always get it in my right speaker and how can i fix this i believe this is a software/hardware issue as whenever the sound goes off the crackling deaseses.
I have changed a setting on this computer and now my sound does not work properly. I dont know what got changed but the windows sound like the bell and the chime take about 10 seconds to play. i can not use windows media player is said the drived is out of date but I checked and the update said I have the most current software. I did try the windows trouble shooter but it couldnot find a problem. I do have beats audio on a dv7-6b63us.
Okay, well the day before yesterday I was trying to watch Youtube but when I clicked on a video it had no sound. I thought it was Youtube, so I exited the site and thought I'd wait a little bit. So then I went to Spotify to listen to some music. I kept clicking and clicking and nothing was happening. Then I noticed a blue notice at the top that said something about my soundcard not working properly.
I then checked everything on my computer to see if it had sound. Windows Media Player...no, videos on Facebook...nope, nothing was working. At first I thought it was my daughter. I let her watch Youtube when she lays down for a nap. I came in the other day and she was hitting all kinds of buttons on my computer. I stopped her though and everything seemed fine. I also remember my computer updating that day. Could it be that something went wrong with the update? I don't know if that's possible or not.
And also, what is a soundcard. Do I have to buy it or do I download it???
I went to Yahoo answers and someone said to uninstall the drivers. I did that and then reinstalled them and it worked. The rest of that day I had sound on everything except for Facebook. Yesterday night it happened again and the sound has not returned since but my computer sounds are still working. When I logged on the computer made the log in sound it usually makes. I also tried to listen to a video with headphones and it still did not work. Again, I uninstalled the drivers and then re installed them and got nothing.
Processor sound(fan sound) is coming from my lappy
Im using acer aspire 5920 lappy from may2008......im using my lappy 15 hours per day.....when im working with my lappy .... an internal sound(some thing like fan sound) is coming from it...that is i think the processor sound...i dont know what it is....
I have installed oracle 11g in my lappy and iam working with oracle daily...is thhis may any cause to this sound?
I have a Sony VGN-Z36GD. I am having problems with my sound. When I try and record something all I get is a hissing sound when I play it back. When I use Skype I can hear the person I am talking to but they cannot hear me. My laptop says everything is working yet it is not.
I had been thinking of getting a Latitude E5500, I've had Dell's for years at work and always liked the added robustness and lack of bloatware on Latitudes.
Lately though I have gotten into converting my vinyl to digital and plan to do a lot more sound oriented things.
Do any Dells have an upgraded sound card, or is it all software driven?
Any other thoughts given my "new" interest in music?
I'm not sure what the problem is with my M1730, however I'm having problems using Sigmatel Drivers, and I wanna use them because I wanna take full advantage of having Dual Audio.
But currently I'm having problems trying to get my dual audio jacks to work. One would obviously say go to the dell website and download the drivers and install and there shouldn't be a problem.
Well..... it's not that simple because for some reason there is only one audio drivers found there, and that one audio driver doesn't seem to properly install on my system for whatever reason.
I'm running 64-bit Windows Vista and I have no clue as to what my issue is to get this to work.
ive also tried restoring the computer but still no sound. the speaker icon has a red X on it and when i open the volume mixer it says thers no audio device installed
I just purchased a refurbished Dell Studio 1535 for my GF. I am getting no sound out of the speakers. I tried plugging in external speakers and Im getting the same result. I see the volume icon bouncing up and down when I play things, but there is just no sounds.
I received my studio 17 (p8400, 4 GB, ati 3650) 2 weeks ago and I love it. However theres a few things I wan't to change such as 32bit to 64bit. I thought it would be very simple but i realised there is a lot more to it (or not).
Forgive me if some questions have been answered before and if they seem obvious.
1.) I have read the 32 bit vista is useable on the 64 bit of the same type of vista correct? This would mean I could just use my 64 bit vista DVD to install and use my current Dell CD Vista key with it?
Or would I be best off asking a copy from dell as it may come with all the dell apps with it not that I would need them.
2.) Would installing using my own disk void warranty rather than using dells requested DVD?
3.) Also if I upgrade to 64 bit would this effect the recovery partition. Eg. Would I just be able to format the C: partition, Install 64bit vista on that and leave the D: Recovery partiton alone. Th reason I ask is I read removing this may lead to void of warranty which I wouldnt as im only 2 weeks into.
Sound Issue
I find that the sound can be distorted on just medium level. I have tried a lot of solutions such as installing new drivers, getting rid of IDT drivers and using the default windows ones. I have a wifi 5100 intel card so the other solution provided does not apply to me. However this is not a big issue to me as I can use headphones but would be nice to have them working normally. I also think it could be just a faulty speaker as one side seems more distorted.
I've seen similar a similar topic at the forum but didn't work for me so I decided to open new topic.
The problem is that I can't get 5.1 sound with my dell studio 1535 laptop and logitech x-530 5.1 speakers.
The OS is windows XP pro. I installed the IDT audio drivers for windows xp. I connected the three jacks of the sound system to the inputs at my laptop as mentioned at the topic below:
