View 3 Replies View Relatedthe dolby surround sound expander and the bass enhancer program on the bottom right in the taskbar?? well when i turn off the surround sound, it causes certain apps to sound different. for example the fingerprint reader. a successful swipe will sound muddy but with the surround sound enabled, it will become clear. this problem also conflicts with AIM and webchat, id have to turn on the surround sound to hear the person's voice clearly.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo as the title states, I am wondering if it is possible to play a video with audio encoded in Dolby Digital on my laptop, pass it through to my TV via HDMI, then out via optical to my receiver. I have a friend who owns a HP business laptop with a SoundMAX sound card, but also an ATI graphics card. We are both running the Realtek ATI HDMI 2.39 drivers, I have the latest drivers from Dell for the IDT sound card on my Studio XPS 16 (1640). He says (and I've seen) he is able to do Dolby Digital this way through an option (see attachment).
However, I do not have this same "Custom" tab / option, and we are running the same driver version (at least to my knowledge). Can anyone help me in finding out if this is doable, and if so, what software (and versions) are required?
I have a HP 8510p (XP32) that works really fine. The only thing that I can not make it happen is that whatever I try I can not get the DD, DTS work between my laptop HDMI and my receive. I recieive only stereo (Audio HDMI OUT is selected).
Question:
1) How on earth can I get DTS/DD from my laptop HDMI when i play a mkv with DTS/DD audio?
2) If I connect the laptop to the TV via HDMI and the laptop to my amp via optical, can it make the trick? (the only problem here is that, my laptop does not have optical out, just HDMI and analog, but using a docking station i can have optical out...)
I have a problem with the Dolby utility that came preinstalled on Acer Aspire V7 482PG. When I click it, it takes around 5-20 seconds for the interface to show up (5 when I am not doing anything, more during playing anything with sound (youtube video etc.). Sometimes it does not even open and the icon disappears until I log off the PC and logon again.
PS.: there is enough HDD space, it is defragmented, there are no viruses or spyware (according to Defender and Malwarebytes), there are not too many programs running in the background.

I have a Yamaha TSS-15 surround sound system. It worked beautifully with my laptop before I reformatted. After reformatting, despite installing the latest Sigmatel High Definition Audio CODEC as well as ensuring the actual physical surround sound system was all in working order I am unable to get 5.1 from my laptop. When I click "test" and I click on the middle, rear speakers or subwoofer no sound is emitted however when I click on the left or right speakers they work fine. I have a standard audio cable plugged into my laptop which is then plugged into my surround sound system.
I can only locate that I have Sigmatel High Definition Audio (Codec) but my upgrades to the driver have not been installing because every time it says that proper driver was not found.
How can find the exact driver I have on my motherboard? Ultimately, I want to be able to get support for surround sound.
Also, I read the headphone jacks support digital audio and they are [left channel] [center channel] [right channel]
i havent long owned my hdx16 but am wondering of it is possible to connect my 5.1 surround system to it, it has 3 audio in jacks on the system and the laptop has 3 ports on it, surley there must be a way to connect the system.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe Acer support wrote that the timeline is able to output 5.1/Ac3 sound via hdmi.
The Realtek driver is configured to route the sound through hdmi.
Using vlc with a Blueray rip (with Ac3 sound), I can't select something like Ac3 Passthrough for hdmi (I found spdif passthrough when selecting it in the realtek drivers, but it didn't work either).
Well using k-lite codec pack forcing Ac3 output I only get noise on my end. The AV receiver should play DolbyDigital and DTS. what he does is dolby pro logic II upmix.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThere is currently a major security flaw in the DigitalPersona software used by the Studio's fingerprint reader, whereby a user can launch Internet Explorer (or the default browser) without logging on to the system.
If you have the software installed now, go ahead and give it a try. Either log off, or lock the system and then click "Swipe you finger to unlock" account, and then "Enroll Fingerprints".
Finally right click on the animation in the wizard and select "About Adobe Flash Player", launching Microsoft Internet Explorer.
I have recently purchased a Dell Studio 14 laptop with Western Digital WD3200BEVT 320 GB 5400 rpm HDD. I installed Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10 immediately after purchasing it.
I am aware of the Load_cycle_count issue and would like to fix it. But with so many threads on the topic available on the net, I am a bit confused.
Has anyone applied the fix on the Studio Laptop with the above HDD yet? If yes, can anyone please share their experiences/caveats etc. so that I can confidently go ahead and apply the fix .....

My WDC WD2500BEVS-75UST0 (HDD) "clicking" in IDLE MODE.
On normal or heavy load I can't hear the click.
But in IDLE - my WDC clearly "clicking".
I used NHC and set the option "Max Performance 254" and It is fine all the time.
But I hate NHC and overall addition programs in the start-up.
I found too the HDD has jumper:

To reduce "Spin UP" but I'm under warranty, and it is no option.
Any advice. It is not big deal, and I can hear it only when my HDD is IDLE but....

I just purchased a refurbished Dell Studio 1535 for my GF. I am getting no sound out of the speakers. I tried plugging in external speakers and Im getting the same result. I see the volume icon bouncing up and down when I play things, but there is just no sounds.
Do I have to turn it on?
Got a new Studio 1537 and read a lot about the sound being improved by removing the IDT drivers.
The sound on mine isn't great but I've never had a laptop before so have nothing to judge it by.
Are the new 1537's still improved by removingthe IDT drivers or have Dell already improved it. I don't want to uninstall drivers if its not going to make any difference.
