Downloaded all the newest drivers but for some reason, the sound is not right when I listen through the docking station (as I normally do).
The sound is tinny.
When I plug my headphones into the actual laptop, everything is fine
I'm working on a Dell E6400 that has a peculiar problem. When the laptop is off, and connected to its Dell docking station, and I try to boot, I get "NTLDR is missing" errors and it will not boot.
I have changed a setting on this computer and now my sound does not work properly. I dont know what got changed but the windows sound like the bell and the chime take about 10 seconds to play. i can not use windows media player is said the drived is out of date but I checked and the update said I have the most current software. I did try the windows trouble shooter but it couldnot find a problem. I do have beats audio on a dv7-6b63us.
Okay, well the day before yesterday I was trying to watch Youtube but when I clicked on a video it had no sound. I thought it was Youtube, so I exited the site and thought I'd wait a little bit. So then I went to Spotify to listen to some music. I kept clicking and clicking and nothing was happening. Then I noticed a blue notice at the top that said something about my soundcard not working properly.
I then checked everything on my computer to see if it had sound. Windows Media Player...no, videos on Facebook...nope, nothing was working. At first I thought it was my daughter. I let her watch Youtube when she lays down for a nap. I came in the other day and she was hitting all kinds of buttons on my computer. I stopped her though and everything seemed fine. I also remember my computer updating that day. Could it be that something went wrong with the update? I don't know if that's possible or not.
And also, what is a soundcard. Do I have to buy it or do I download it???
I went to Yahoo answers and someone said to uninstall the drivers. I did that and then reinstalled them and it worked. The rest of that day I had sound on everything except for Facebook. Yesterday night it happened again and the sound has not returned since but my computer sounds are still working. When I logged on the computer made the log in sound it usually makes. I also tried to listen to a video with headphones and it still did not work. Again, I uninstalled the drivers and then re installed them and got nothing.
The sound on my HP Pavilion G6-1a19wm is not working. Sound "does" work when using the audio jack with external speakers. I have tried uninstalling the driver, updating the driver, microsoft fix-it, and troublshooting steps. audio device shows in device manager and is supposedly working properly, mute is "not' enabled. visually all audio related things suggest that the audio is fine and troubleshooting finds no problems..
I have recently bought a new probook450 g2 but whenever i play a video or audio file an interrupt occurs like a buzz after fixed interval, I don't know what to do ......
I am using HP 2000-2313TU Notebook PC laptop with windows 8 64 bit operating system. From the last few days i am facing some problems in audio..when i am opening my laptop the sound system is working well...but when i am not continuing any audio application( busy in some other work..) and after sometime say 20-30minutes when i am opening any audio or video file it is running without any sound..when i am restarting my computer again audio device works...if i am not using the audio files after opening my computer also this problem happens after sometimes when i play some audio files.
I have an HP Pavillion g6 and the sound is not working at all. I tried troubleshooting the audio playback and then it started working. Then i realized only the system sounds started working.
When i play a video or any audio on my browser (Google Chrome and Internet Explorer) it does not work, but when i play a video/audio downloaded onto the pc, it works. Why is that?
I checked all my browser settings aswell and nothing is wrong.
I am trying to use a Latitude D630 docked in a PR01 port replicator with a KVM switch. The problem I am having is that the video signal is not displayed using the PR01 DVI port.
The Latitude D630 itself does not have a DVI port, however, when docked in the PR01, the port replicator has a DVI port that will display a video signal when connected directly to a monitor. When the KVM switch is placed in line between the PR01 and the monitor then the DVI signal is not displayed .....
I have just gotten an E7240 computer and have noticed that the USB ports on the back of my computer are disabled when the computer is docked which is a very unfortunate feature of this new computer model. It seems there are many people posting complaints about this feature on the internet. It basically takes a computer that has 3 USB ports and makes two of them rather useless. It is very useful if a USB receiver for keyboard and mouse can be plugged in to the back of the computer so that the mouse can be used easily when docked, but also when the computer is taken off the dock to go to a meeting room. This then leaves the side USB port available for devices such as wireless projectors when in the meeting room. Although this computer was designed to behave this way, I think that most users would agree that this is a critical issue that needs to be seriously considered and fixed by Dell as soon as possible assuming that there is not already a work around available.
Notebook x240 Dock: Thinkpad Pro Dock (40A1 M20) this is important cause the update firmware tools must be for this version (40a1 m20) if someone has a link to it.
I do have this link: [URL]
But in case it doesn't work i'd like to update Dock's firmware.
I am in desperation currently with this problem. Let me explain my setup first. I have the Dell E1505, 2gb ram, ATI X1400 mobility, 1.66ghz duocore processor, about 2 years old.
I recently got fed up with the onboard sound as I have taken a hobby up in purchasing high fidelity headphones.
This led me to get a M-Audio Fast Track Pro which is an external sound card with a separate headphone amplifier.
I basically used this sound card as my sound card as opposed to the sigmatel audio that's in the computer.
Everything was great but i found out that everytime that I did anything graphics related on my computer (blow up an image, scroll down a webpage, minimize a window, etc) that there would be a crackle/static that comes from the sound.
It got reallllly annoying so I tried finding a solution but really could not.

The problem is sound been very gargly and sometimes direct music audio fails. I don't won't to buy a sound card.
1. Any drivers you use? 2. Any tweaks you would recommend? 3. Can cleaning the connectors fix it?
Running XP. Had this problem last year, but finally had them going again after install/uninstall of a multitude of drivers, including Sigmatel and LG and other versions.
Now they are dead again. Used the Dell diagnostics utility and the speakers are fine as well as the headphone sound.
But when I am in XP, I need to connect my headphones to have sound from both the headphones and the speakers, weird. Tried all kinds of Sigmatel drivers, but abandoned after 2 days .....
I have a query about the titled soft/hardware. Firstly, which is it? Is it simply software, or is additional hardware required to run it?
Has anyone had a chance to compare the normal sound with this package, to see if there's much difference? I hear this allows EAX, which I would really like. I'm just not sure what exactly it is! :-)

I was watching something online when the sound became distorted (has happened before) so turned off G6 laptop and restatred worked well for 20 minutes and then it went all distorted again. Turned it off again and started it up again however this time the sound completely vanished. Tried iTunes, internet, and a movie on laptop and nothing is working anymore. Have checked all the easy sound things making sure I didn't turn it off but nope it all says device is working.
When I connect my laptop to my tv the sound does no come out the tv, but remains coming out the pc speakers. it is not a cable issue as my other hp laptop works fine. i can't find a setting to change it to hdmi audio output.

Discovered no sound yesterday when I used my laptop. Today I tried to resolve the problem thinking it was a simple task, so many hours later I've discovered others suffering the same plight!
I have an elitebook 1040 G1 that I recently bought refurbished. I do get sound but it seems very low. I have checked the settings and they are all set at maximum. Am I missing something?
